Devil May Cry

A Snow Woman's Kiss

Chapter 13: A Snow Woman Faces Fear

The morning sunlight trickles through the curtains and the digital alarm clock on his sounds off at the scheduled time. Seven O' Clock am.

A groan escapes him as he reaches for the alarm clock and hits the dismissal button turning it off. Last night had been rough, Vergil had a very broken sleep due to his mind being plagued with the appearance of the shady ominous figure with the glowing red eyes. Despite his restless mind, he would have to try his utmost best to focus on today. For now, he put it in the back of his mind along with the person he sensed as the bus left the resort.

Vergil had a strong feeling to who it may have been, but it didn't matter all that much right now since there would be nothing he could do anyway. So that didn't bug him as much as the events of last night, which was his main concern. But he carried on with his morning and got out of bed, stretched then changed into his custom school uniform, his blue blazer with the same snake-like patterns he had on his jacket on the opposite sides of his uniform. The only design he had on his uniform that represented the school was the cross at the bottom of both sleeves. He slipped on his black pants then his brown boots.

Once he was dressed, he slicked his hair back after washing his face and was officially ready for the day. He left his Yamato in his room since he would be able to summon it with his power. As much as he'd like to continue carrying around his trusted blade, he knew it would just continue to draw attention to himself, the attention he didn't want or care for.

Vergil exited his room and locked the door behind him then made his way to the newspaper club room. Today was a new day and he'd do his best to remember that despite his concerns about the mysterious individual. As he walked through campus grounds, two other male students waved at Vergil.

"Hey Vergil! How's it going man?" Asked the male on the left.

"It's going well I suppose," Vergil replied.

"That's great."

"Hey are you ready for the test this Friday?" Asked the male on the right.

"Very well prepared, the mock test was easy, if that's the kind of questions on the upcoming test, then it will be a breeze." He replied.

"Damn, that test kicked my ass, you're something else, man."

"Well, if you study enough, it's possible for anyone, now I have club meeting so if you'll excuse me."

"Yeah no prob, see ya." The two students wave and Vergil nodded at them before continuing to the club room.

Partway, Vergil heard someone call his name.

"Hey! Vergil!" It was Yukari, she ran up to him and stopped when in front of him.

"Oh, good morning Yukari." Greeted the blue-devil.

"Good morning~ How are you today?" She asked.

"To be honest, tired. Yourself?" He asks.

"Didn't get much sleep? I'm great! Thanks for asking." She cheerfully replies.

He shook his head. "Broken sleep. I woke up a lot last night."

"I hate nights like that." She blinked." Oh, Wanna walk to club together?" Asks the little witch.

"Sure, let's be off then." With that, the two walk alongside to club.

"Yukari, I nearly forgot. Thank you for helping me with that conversation the other day. It's nice to know I have someone I can trust with it." Said the half-devil showing his appreciation.

Yukari smiled.

"It's no problem Verg, I could tell it was something you wanted to keep from the others, whenever you use that energy it really seems to hurt you." She mused as she recalled the final fight with Nevan's sister.

"Yes it does, it's corrupted energy that I had forcefully put into me. Although I have control over my power again, I also have the ability to make use of the energy, it's very powerful with the immense dark nature of it, but it puts a strain on my body the more I use it. Which makes me leave it as an absolute last resort." He explains to the young witch.

"Force into you? That's terrible! Well, make sure you be careful with it, we don't want you to seriously hurt yourself okay?" Replies Yukari.

"Don't worry, I know my limits so I will be fine, I appreciate your cooperation," Vergil says giving her a pat on the head making her smile with a thin blush over her cheeks.

"Come on, let's go, the others are probably waiting."

"Right!" Yukari brightly responds as the two make their way to the clubroom door and entered. The two were greeted by Tsukune, Moka and Kurumu, Mizore would most likely be here soon too, she had a habit of popping up out of nowhere when no one would expect it.

"Good morning you guys." Moka brightly greeted.

"Yeah, morning you two." Added Tsukune with his usual kind tone.

"Good morning guys." Said Kurumu looking rather cheerful today.

"Morning." Said, Vergil, as he took a seat.

"Good morning, Moka,Tsukune Kurumu."Replied the little Witch.

"How did you guys sleep?" Asked the pinkette.

"I slept super good!" Said Yukari full of energy.

"To be honest, I could have slept better, but I didn't sleep all that well," Vergil answered.

"You should have told me, I would have helped you sleep nicely." Said a quiet voice from under the table, it surprised everyone except Vergil who already knew to expect Mizore randomly out of the blue since she did it very often.

"I'll make sure I keep that in mind next time." Commented Vergil.

Mizore crawled out from under the table and rose back to her feet then sat down beside Vergil like she often did.

"Good morning Mizore."

"Good morning Verg, sorry you had a shitty sleep last night, hopefully, you have a better one tonight."

"I certainly hope so." He replies, his thoughts quickly grazing last night's encounter before he brushes it off then returns his attention to the club.

"So we're just waiting for Ms. Nekoname now right?" Asked Kurumu.

"That's right, we don't need Gin here right now since we give out the papers." Answered Yukari.

"That's true, but how are we gonna kill time till then?" Kurumu wonders.

"Ms. Nekoname doesn't usually take long, so I don't think we need to worry about that." Replied Moka resting her hands on her lap.

Almost ironically on cue, in walked their teacher.

"Good morning Newspaper club! We have a lot of work to do this morning so let's do our best to hand out all these papers." Greeted Nekoname with some small words of encouragement added into the mix.

"Morning Miss, you bet! We're going to do our best, right guys?" Said Moka looking at the others.

"Yeah!" Said everyone at once, with Vergil and Mizore being the only ones who used an unenthused tone, both enjoyed the club activities, but it was just handing out paper, they didn't see any reason to get overexcited about it.

"Wonderful! Alright, I'll divide the teams." She cleared her throat.

"Miss Akashiya and Mister Aono will go the east of the school campus, Miss Sendo and Miss Kuruno, you can take the west. Vergil and Miss Shirayuki can take the north side entrance at the gate." Ms. Nekoname went on.

"Everyone ready?" Asked the instructor.

Moka glanced around at everyone exchanging nods before she looked back at Nekoname. "Yep, We're all set."

"Perfect, alright then. Try and have them cleared out by eight-thirty, please. Now with that being said, off you go everyone, and good luck!" Ms. Nekoname waved and left the club room.

Once Ms. Nekoname left, the group split off with their partners and headed to their assigned locations. Arriving at their destination, Vergil put the box down and took out his half while Mizore took out hers.

"Now we have to find a way to clear all these out," Said Vergil taking a look around them, the students would be passing by shortly since it was close to seven-thirty.

"Well, the Yokai Gazette already has a good rep, it's just the matter of keeping them interested I guess." Replied Mizore.

"Yeah pretty much. Let's just see how it goes."

Not long after, the first flood of students began to make their way to the gate.

"Ready Verg?" Asks the Snow Woman.

"I am, let's do this." He answers back exchanging a nod with her before they both face the students.

"Yokai Gazette, come get today's issue, we have lots of new articles and plenty of new stories!" Vergil calmly announces.

"Come and get them, you'll be missing out if you don't" Added Mizore, her soft voice in a decent volume.

"New stuff huh? Let's check it out." Said a male student to his friend before they made their way to the two, taking a copy each.

"Wow, check it out. It's some of the legendary artifacts on Tanazaki Island! I've always heard about them but never seen them." The male student who took a copy excitably exclaimed.

"Really? Oh my god, I wanna see!" Added a female student who was quick to take a copy.

Mizore looked over at Vergil.

"Artifacts?" She opened up a copy of the paper and flipped to Vergil's page.

"Wow, these look really pretty." She looked back at Vergil.

"Where did you find them?" She asked.

"Not far off the coast of the place we went is another island is known in monster history, Dumary Island. It's been known to have various artifacts that my father Sparda once used. As of late, to respect the history and power behind them, each artifact has been placed in small Shrine's hidden throughout Tanazaki Island. Since they are so rare, I had to do a lot of research to find them. I thought it would be a good feature in this issue's article." Vergil explained.

"That's pretty cool." Mizore blinked for a moment as a thought came to mind.

"But, won't that mean some people might try to take them and harvest the power in them?" She asked.

Vergil shook his head.

"They're only pictures, I didn't put any details about the location in my article. Not to mention only someone with my father's bloodline can access them. So even if someone was stupid enough to try there's no way they can get to them. And there is an assortment of very deadly traps that are set for anyone who would even dare to try and disturb them." He went on.

"So there's no way to get to them or access them. If someone were to get close, the traps are so fatal that not even the most powerful monster would be able to survive." He added.

"Well, that's good to hear. With your father being powerful, there's bound to be a bunch of power hungry bastards out there who would seek his power, especially from what you told me that one night." Mizore replied, recalling that one night when they were still getting to know each other, she remembered it all. It was also the night she first saw the soft side of Vergil for the very first time, a night she cherished because he had opened up to her for the very first time.

"Exactly, but no one will try, not if they have a death wish." He replied.

"You got that right." Said the Snow Woman, she looked back at Vergil and grabbed his arm drawing his attention for the moment.

"You should have taken me with you, it would have been cool to see all those artifacts, I think it would be romantic in a way." She requested, giving him a smile.

"I would have, but I was up early that morning, it was the day after the battle with Arzaxia, I had woken up and didn't feel tired so I decided to have them in my article for the Gazette. I knew you needed rest from the bout so I let you sleep, and it was well before you let yourself in my tent." He explained.

"Ohh okay, well hopefully we go there again for a school trip sometime." She mused, wanting a chance to see it for herself.

"Well, even if we don't maybe, just maybe, I'll take you there in our free time when school is out." He teasingly offered.

Mizore's crystal blue eyes lit up.

"You really mean it Verg?" She asked.

He nods. "I mean it."

Mizore smiled and pulled Vergil into a hug.

"Yay! I'm so excited." She exclaimed.

Vergil was caught by surprise but returned her embrace before they pulled away.

"I'm gonna hold you to that Verg." She mused.

"By all means, go ahead. I won't forget." He replied.

"Alright, anyway. We'd best get rid of these papers. The school will be starting in half an hour." He stated, checking the time.

Mizore nodded. "Right! Let's get to work."

The two continued to hand out papers, announcing the Yokai Gazette mentioning the feature of the Tanazaki Island artifacts as well as some of the other articles made by the others which had their own unique stories.

Half an hour later, Mizore and Vergil had successfully handed out all one-hundred of their newspapers. It was nice to know they could keep so many students interested with their work. The Yokai Gazette had lots of followers and they were still going strong, it was getting more followers since there was a lot of freshmen this year, Vergil was considered a Senior student with his level of intellect, but Mizore and the others were technically Juniors, he had joined mid-term and was already welcomed by everyone. Not just by his reputation of being the Elder Son Of Sparda, but just by how he was too.

"Phew~ We did it Verg, a lot quicker than I thought we would too. We still have like twenty minutes before the bell. What do you wanna do till then?" Asked Mizore.

"Well, we could walk around campus maybe?" He suggested.

Mizore smiled and looked at him.

"I have a better idea, I know a nice spot we can chill out in, and it won't take long to get there either. Come on." She took Vergil's hand and lead him to campus grounds but took a sharp turn off trail and between a wall of the school and a bushy area.

"Where are we going?" He asked, curious as to where they were going since she had just kind of pulled him along with her.

"Just wait and see. Trust me, you'll like it, I know I do." She replied. She lead him to a part of the school that had a shack, it wasn't a small shack and had a moderate to average width which Vergil assumed was some kind of supply closet.

The two came to a stop here leaving Vergil a bit puzzled.

"So what exactly is so wonderful about a supply shack?" Asked the blue-devil humoring the location.

"It's not the supply shack that I want to show you, it's above it, just follow me." With that, Mizore kicked off both her feet launching herself up on the supply shack roof.

Vergil, still confused, just shrugged and did the same. Once up there, Mizore jumped to a lower roof that was attached to the school. Vergil followed and after a couple more jumps, they both had arrived at a flat roof surface on the school that was behind one of the big bell towers. The place had a decent amount of space and had a clear view of the forest and sky which right now, was a bright morning blue. Vergil was impressed at the spot, the view was amazing.

"This place is impressive, how did you find it?" He asked.

"Welcome to peeping spot number five-hundred-seventy-three. One of my all-time favorites. I usually come here whenever I want to kick back away from everyone."

"A peeping spot?" Vergil looked around unsure of why she called it a peep spot, he didn't see anything relevant until he looked behind him. There was a row of six sunroom windows, windows that had a perfect view of the Kendo Club room. A thin comical sweat slid down the back of his head as he looked on.

"Oh, Now I see.." Vergil thought for a moment.

{"Well…this pretty much explains how she got that picture of me at the kendo club room."} He'd keep his realization to himself of course.

"I like this spot, it has a good view of the forest leading towards the cave portal area." He said as he looked on at the view before them.

"Right? This isn't the usual place I go when I wanna stray away from everyone, but the view is pleasant, made this place one of my fave's for various reasons." She slyly replied.

Vergil got the hint right away, she was aware of him finding out this was the place she got her picture from but as weird as it may be to others, he didn't mind it, if it was her doing the peeping anyway.

"Yes, I'm sure it is." He replied, a small smirk, fading after a few seconds.

Mizore looked over at the silver-haired devil with curious eyes.

"So Verg, did you have any place you'd like to chill out in when you don't wanna be bothered by humanity?" She asked.

Vergil thought about it for a moment, there were some places he did often go when his mind was heavy. He nodded.

"I'd usually go find places with heights, a place where I can see the whole skyline of a city. It's usually nice and peaceful there and I can actually think without being bothered, so anywhere with heights is my safe-place parse." He answered, a place like the Temen-Ni-Gru was one example of that, he was able to see the entire city and night sky with how high up he was.

Mizore smiled, pleased with his answer.

"I agree, I like places with heights too."

The bell suddenly rang signaling the start of homeroom.

"Well, I guess we'd best head to homeroom. We don't want to be marked absent." Vergil suggested.

"Yeah I guess you're right, but hey, if you ever wanna find a place with a good view away from everyone, I'm your girl." She said with a proud little smile.

Her smile brought forth a smile of his own, Mizore's smile was always a sight to see, a sight he always longed for. One day he'd express just how much he loved it, but for now, he kept that to a limit. He had to make sure he was prepared for everything that would follow up after it.

"I'll make sure I remember that come Mizore, let's get going."

"Right behind you Verg." She said, letting Vergil lead the way. It may not have been much, but it was still some time alone with Mizore, and that alone would be enough, he was happy to be with her any chance he would get.

Arriving at homeroom, Vergil and Mizore walked in together and sat in their respective seats.

"Hey, you guys!" Shouted Moka waving at them as they sat down, ironically, the groups desks were pretty close to each other, they pretty much had an entire small section for them since they all sat close.

"Hello Moka, how did your newspaper haul go?" He asked.

"Great!" She replied with a bright smile.

"Yeah, it was nice to see everyone enjoying our paper still." Added Tsukune.

"We gave out all our stack, how about your guys'?" Moka asked in return.

"It went very well." Replied Vergil.

"Yeah, we gave out ours too, I didn't think it would clear out so fast, but we did it." Added the Snow Woman.

"That's great, looks like we all had luck." Replied the pinkette Vampire.

Not long after, Kurumu and Yukari walked in.

"Hey you two! How did it go for you guys?" Asked Moka.

Kurumu and Yukari sat down.

"Yahohoo! We totally cleared out, they all went like hot quakes!" Exclaimed Kurumu with an XD face.

"It's 'Hot Cakes' you dummy!" Yukari commented, unamused by Kurumu's usual air headedness, it would tend to come out in the odd times, but it was a trait everyone was used to by now.

"Anyway yeah, we cleared out pretty fast. It's good knowing we can keep our readers interested in our work." Said Yukari with a smile.

"Yeah me too, I was thinking no one would care to read our papers anymore, but lots of people were talking about all our articles." Tsukune blinked,

"Oh yeah, people really seemed to like yours Vergil. People really loved the whole article about those artifacts." Tsukune added.

"So I've heard, I'm quite thankful to hear many are enjoying it." Commented the half-devil.

"Oh! Vergil how did you manage to find those artifacts? I had no idea about those on the island." Asked 'Kurumu.

"Well…" Before Vergil could respond, in walked Ms. Nekoname drawing the entire classes attention.

"Gooooooood morning class!" She greeted.

Vergil looked back at Kurumu.

"I'll tell you later."

She nodded and returned her gaze to the teacher like everyone else did. From there on, the school day went on like any other day, they went to their classes respectively. Eventually, Wednesday's school day had come to an end. Moka and the others told Mizore and Vergil that they were going to study for the upcoming test and invited them to join, they accepted but Vergil had to go to the library first and return a book first.

"I have to go return a book I borrowed, want to come along? We can join the others after." He asked.

"Sure." She replied, but soon after Ruby entered the class, Mizore knew why she was here so she looked back at Vergil.

"I'll catch up with you later, Ruby is about to tell me a way to pass my Gym class.." She replied, a bit disappointed she had to cancel. But she knew how important it was.

"Very well, I'll see you at the club room later." Replied Vergil, the two waved then off Vergil went.

Mizore crossed her arms and turned her attention to the older Witch.

"Hey Ruby, did you find a way for me to make up my mark?" Asked the Snow Woman.

"You bet I did! It's real simple too! It should only take about two to three hours today then you'll be all caught up." She replied.

"Sounds pretty good, what is it?" She asked.

"Well, I spoke with Mister Kotsubo and he agreed to let you help him put away all the gym gear. Once that's done, you'll be eligible for a pass! Isn't that great?" Said a cheery Ruby.

Mizore's expression darkened, did Ruby have any idea what she was doing? That was the last thing she wanted, she hated him. He was the reason she skipped gym all the time, because of his attempted assault freshmen year, it was marked in the files, how could Ruby not know?

"Ruby….listen I can't do this." Said Mizore, her voice weak.

"What? But this is all I could find, besides, if you don't do it, you'll be failed immediately!"

Ruby went on.

"It's just some small basic labor, the equipment isn't heavy at all you'll be fine."

Mizore shook her head.

"Ruby, Labor isn't the problem here….it's not the labor at all it's-"

Before she could finish Ruby politely cut her off.

"Sorry Mizore, it's a long story, unfortunately I don't have time to tell you it, but the director wants me so I have to go, I only came to tell you. Listen, it's going to be okay, just a couple hours of easy labor you got this. I'll check on you later. But I really need you to go okay? The director wanted to use other means to give you an upgrade, and his idea was way more difficult, it took me a lot to organize this so please do your best okay?"

Mizore was silent for a few minutes, she was hesitant and didn't want to be anywhere near Kotsubo. But she knew Ruby pulled lots of strings to get help, so she very reluctantly agreed.

She gave a slow nod.

"Okay Ruby….I'll go.." Replied the Snow Woman, the unpleasantness very obvious in her quiet tone, but with the rush Ruby was in, she didn't notice.

"Perfect! I know you can do this. See you later." With that, Ruby left leaving Mizore to her thoughts and they were running wild right now. She hadn't been to gym class at all after that horrific incident, even now to this day, it would still bother her.

"…" Mizore was dead silent, she didn't like this at all, but she gave her word, and by the sound of it, it was this or failure. She was caught between a rock and a hard place, much to her high disapproval, she really had no choice but to do it. She took a deep breath.

"Fine I'll do it…but if that asshole even tries to come near me again, I'll freeze him permanently this time…" She sighed and hesitantly made her way to the outdoor gymnasium area.

Once there, she saw him waiting there for her with his arms crossed, she reluctantly approached him, giving him a hateful glare immediately.

He put up his hands.

"Easy, what happened is in the past now. I promise I won't do anything. I'm here to help, all this is strictly for your educational purposes okay? Once you're finished here, you'll be given an automatic pass for gym, you have my word as a teacher of this school alright?" He did his best to reassure her.

Mizore wasn't all too sure about this, she studied his face carefully without saying a word for several minutes before she finally broke her gaze. She sighed.

"Okay…but you better be right about this.." Mizore warned.

"I swear, that's all it is." Kotsubo replied, his hands still up.

"..Fine...tell me what I need to do, then stay away from me."

Kotsubo nodded.

"You got it, so right now we will have to gather up all the sports equipment. The supply shed's already open, I just need you to pick up all the gear you see laying around and put it in the shed." He explained.

"That's it..?" Asked a cautious Mizore.

He nodded.

"That's it, I'll be on the other side putting away the track field stuff, let me know when you finish and you can be on your way."

"…Okay." She quietly replied, regardless of his words, she still loathed the fact she was here helping him of all people.

With that, the two went their own way. A shadow over the gym instructor's eyes as he left for the track field.

Mizore made her way to the gym doors and opened them, she put the door stopper out so they would stay open. Now she was ready to get started. Inside the gym there was an assortment of sports gear laying out that the last class had used. There were lots of dodge balls out so Mizore started picking them up. Four per pick up. After the first load she walked back into the gym and saw all the other stuff she had to pick up.

"There's so much stuff, at this rate, I'll be here a while, and I can't stand being near that asshole…I'm gonna hurry this up so I can be done with this." She created five blocks of ice and they became ice clones of her.

"What are we doing?" Asked the first clone.

"Looks like we're cleaning up all this.." Replied the other clone.

"The sooner we finish, the quicker we can ditch this prick." Added the third clone.

"Yeah I guess you're right." Answered the forth clone.

"Let's just get this over with.." Said the final clone.

Mizore was a bit low on energy now since she produced five clones, she was panting a bit and sat down while her clones did the work. Normally she wouldn't resort to her powers to do this kind of stuff, but couldn't stand being in his area and she would do anything to leave.

"I'll be there soon Verg…" She said to herself as she looked up at the ceiling.

Meanwhile, Vergil was already heading to the newspaper club room. He wondered what Ruby had found for Mizore. He knew about her reason for always skipping from when she told him about it when they were in the tree.

But in the end, at least she would be able to pass after it. Arriving at the club room, Vergil opened the door and was greeted by the others.

"Hey Vergil." Tsukune waved, he blinked.

"Oh, I thought Mizore was with you."

Vergil shook his head taking a seat.

"Ruby came to give her whatever she's doing for gym class. She's been failing and Ruby gave her some work to guarantee a pass. She said she'd join us when she's finished." Answered Vergil.

"Oh okay, Mizore has been skipping it a lot lately, she's went a couple times here and there but never really did anything." Moka replied.

"Well I don't blame her, Mister Kotsubo is a closet pervert, honestly, I'm surprised Yokai Academy still lets him work here." Added Kurumu.

"Yeah, I hope he was severely punished for it!" Added Yukari.

Vergil was quiet for a moment, his friends were quick to notice his silence.

"Vergil?" Moka asked, a bit concerned.

Vergil stood up and pushed in his chair.

"I'll be right back, I have to do something quick."

"Huh? Okay but where are you going Ver-" Before Moka could finish, Vergil was out the door.

"Huh?" Tsukune looked on confused.

"What's his problem?" Said Kurumu sighing.

"I hope everything's okay with him.."Said Moka.

Vergil was making his way to the gymnasium area.

{"I have a bad feeling all of a sudden…I'd better hurry."} He thought to himself as he rushed onward.

Back in the gym, Mizore had finished cleaning up and her clones broke apart on command.

"Phew, finally done. And it only took me twenty minutes..now I can blow this dump." She stood up and made her way to the exit. Just as she was about to tell the teacher she was done, he was already there.

"Hey, just came to check on you." Kotsubo looked around

"Looks like you finished, good work. You can go ahead and leave then." He said turning his back to her.

"Okay sounds good." Mizore made her way to the door, until suddenly, Kotsubo pulled out a tube and faced Mizore and blew in it, two darts went directly at her, she looked behind her but realized too late and the darts hit her leg just above her stocking. Immediately she felt her body go numb and fell to the ground.

"W-What the hell!?" She weakly exclaimed, shocked.

Kotsubo had a sinister look on his face.

"I-I knew you were still a sick bastard!"

"Ever since your little friend took those photo's, they've docked a good portion of my pay. I make way more less than the other teachers now. And I won't stand for it." He explained, the sinister look still printed on his face.

"It's your own fault for being a sick pervert!" She shouted, trying her best to move her body.

"It's no use, I shot a paralysis poison and you won't be able to move for five hours. Now this time, you're gonna make it up to me with your body, and no one is gonna stop me this time!" With that, Kotsubo turned into his monster form, a Kraken. His tentacles grabbed her by the legs and hung her upside down as the others prepared to slither their way below under her skirt.

Mizore was horrified, she was helpless.

"N-No!" Tears began to well up in her eyes, until suddenly. The wall of the gym came crumbling down and a sudden pain froze Kotsubo's tentacles.

"W-What!?" He exclaimed, immediately after, at the sound of a click, many of his tentacles were severed, blood gushing from them, the severed tentacles dropped Mizore. It was Vergil with his Yamato unsheathed and his jacket over his school uniform and he wasted no time dashing below her catching her in his arms.

"V-Vergil! You came for me!" Spoke Mizore, she was so happy to see him, she would have been in a very bad place if it wasn't for him.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Mizore…are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah…I just can't move, he shot something at me and my body just went numb." She explained.

Vergil took off his jacket and wrapped it around Mizore as he held her in his arms.

Kotsubo crawled on the ground, weak and disorientated from all the blood loss.

"D-Damn you Son Of Sparda!" Exclaimed a very angry Kotsubo who was helpless.

Vergil put Mizore down and leaned her against the wall, she slowly move her arms and hugged his jacket, her cheeks bright pink. She was so happy to see him.

Vergil slowly walked towards Kotsubo who tried desperately to crawl away but wasn't getting very far and was clearly panicking. Vergil pinned him to the ground with several blue phantom blades impaling each of the remaining tentacles making Kotsubo let out pained screamed.

Vergil walked over to Mizore and moved some of his jacket away from her leg where he saw the two holes from the darts.

"V-Vergil what are you doing?" She asked.

Vergil put a hand on her cheek.

"Don't worry Mizore, you'll see right away." He took his hand back and began to suck out the poison, he sucked and spit it out and continued to do it until it was out of her system, Mizore moaned a bit at the weird feeling but soon noticed she could fell her body again. Once he was done he wiped his mouth then cut a piece of his uniform off an wrapped it around her leg to stop any leftover bleeding.

Mizore smiled at Vergil with bright pink cheeks.

"Now that you can move again, let's kill this revolting piece of trash." He said with a smile.

Mizore gave him a smile and cupped his cheek before she looked away, her expression becoming serious.

She looked over at the teacher sprawled out on the ground in Kraken form, he struggled and struggled but couldn't move due to the phantom blades keeping him pinned down.

Mizore walked over to him, she walked right up to him, every bit of innocence gone and replaced with pure hatred in her crystal blue eyes.

The look was striking fear in Kotsubo.

Vergil watched on as she stopped in front of him.

"You…..you've made my life a living hell by what you did to me in my freshman year, I was actually wanting to go to school again until you touched me! I've hated your guts ever since, you're the reason I'm failing gym because I couldn't stand being near you, couldn't stand to even look at your face!" She hugged herself an shuddered thinking about the minor assault she faced at the hands of him.

"I'm going to enjoy every single second of this.."

"N-Noooaaaaaaaaaa!" He screamed.

Without any bit of hesitation, long sharp ice claws popped out of her sleeves. She wasted no time and began to stab him repeatedly over and over, the screaming stopped after five stabs but Mizore kept going making a mess of blood all around the corpse, and she didn't stop, it was like she lost her mind.

Vergil was glad he was dead, but he knew he had to calm her down.

"Mizore stop!" He shouted.

"No! He needs to die!" She shouted back.

Vergil moved in and pulled her back, she squirmed in his grip trying to break free.

"Let me go Vergil! I need him to die! Let me go!" She shouted. Vergil pulled her into a hug, her claws ended up stabbing him in the lower chest but he didn't care and just held her close.

"Mizore its okay…you did it he's already dead." Said Vergil, his voice soft and gentle.

Mizore gasped lightly, her claws disappeared behind her sleeves and she had realized she stabbed Vergil by the blood coming from his lower chest. She was horrified.

"V-…Vergil I'm sorry.." She silently uttered as tears began to fall.

"Don't worry about it okay? I can heal.." He softly replied, she returned his embrace and hugged him tightly while the mutilated Kotsubo would lay in the background beyond dead from the multiple stab wounds. The phantom blades finally shattered in pieces and Vergil just kept the Snow Woman close to him holding her just as tight.

Several minutes later, Mizore was calm and feeling much better. Especially now with her past tormentor dead and the man she liked and trusted comforting her.

Her grip softened and she wasn't crying anymore. The feeling of killing the one who wronged her had driven her to keep stabbing him and she knew it, she regretted stabbing him but wasn't worried about it thanks to Vergil reassuring her, and he spoke the truth, he would be able to heal. She gently pulled away and looked up at Vergil, a sparkle in her eyes.

"Vergil…thank you..thank you so much.." She hugged him tightly again.

"I'm just glad to know you're okay.." He replied.

"I will be now…especially since he's gone." She paused.

"And because you're here with me…" She softly added.

"I'd never let anything happen to you, I followed my gut feeling and I'm glad I did." He replied.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up. The others are waiting for us at the club room." Suggested Vergil.

Mizore smiled and gently pulled away.

"Okay!" She said happily. Vergil wrapped his jacket around her again and she held it over her as the two went to her room.

Once inside Mizore's room, Vergil let her go to her bathroom and get cleaned up, her clothes had been covered in blood after all.

"Vergil? What are gonna do about him? A teacher is dead, we could get in serious trouble." She asked from behind the bathroom door.

"Not to worry, I already took care of it." He answered back.

-FLASHBACK SEQUENCE-

It had been the day where Mizore had opened up to him about her traumatic experience.

"Kotsubo…" He said to himself as he glared at the teacher from afar.

"Hey Vergil you coming? Class is almost over." Asked Mizore. They had just gotten down from the tree.

"Go on ahead, I'll join you in homeroom." He replied back.

"Kay then, see you later~" Mizore went on ahead. Vergil combed the school grounds for Ginei and he spotted him peeping on girls in a bunch of bushes.

"Hey..Gin.." Vergil greeted

Gin jumped.

"Huh! Oh uh hey Vergil, I was just sitting here waiting for a good scoop for the next issue ehehe.." He replied, trying to hide his business.

"Save it, I'm not here to scold you about you're pervious habit. I need a favor." Replied Vergil easily seeing through his poor excuse.

"A Favor? Uh sure. What can I do for you?" He asked with a smile.

"Do you video camera with a lot of space? One that can keep recording and still have plenty of space." He asked.

"Video camera? Yeah I just got this one today actually, it's new and has a large amount of space and twenty-four hour recording. Why do you need it?"

"Yes, I'd like to borrow it actually. Just for a while then you can have it back." Replied the half-devil.

"Sure but, can I ask why. Not trying to pry, just curious."

"Well, I heard about the pictures you took that proved Mizore's innocence during the incident in freshman year. The fact the school kept this vile fiend of a teacher does not sit right with me. I don't trust him and I have a feeling he's plotting something." Vergil explained.

"Oh yeah! I was just at the right place at the right time that day. I was glad I could help that though. Alright. I hate that guy too so yeah you can borrow it. Just give me the details when you catch him red-handed then we can turn the tables on this guy for good." Said Gin reaching in his bag and handing it to Vergil.

"You got it, I guess even you can be a man sometimes." Vergil commented.

"Yep yo-" Gin Paused.

"Hey what's that supposed to mean?" He exclaimed.

Vergil just chuckled and turned his back.

"Thank you Ginei, I owe you one. But if it's to help with your sick habit then that favor will be revoked." Said Vergil before he walked away.

After class hours, Vergil drew his Yamato and cut an inward hole in the corner of the ceiling angling it down so the camera eye could get a clear view. He kept it there by pinning it up to the wall inside the hole with phantom blades, he also transferred extra energy into them so they would hold and not shatter like they always did after use.

-FLASHBACK END-

Mizore came out of the bathroom with a new pair of clothes and stockings. It was her same outfit just a brand new pair.

"So Ginei actually lent you his camera?" she said surprised.

"Shockingly, yes. But it was thanks to his help that I was able to capture everything. The camera has been recording ever since the night you first told me, so we have proof and won't get in trouble at all. If they have an issue with the fact that he's dead, they can talk to me about it." Vergil reassured the Snow Woman.

She smiled.

"Well, aren't you an expert. Planning a way to catch him like that." Mizore was impressed but also relieved, she did kill him after all. But with Vergil offering to handle it, she felt much better about it and didn't have to worry anymore, she would leave it to him.

"Well, I had a feeling that he would try again, but he's not in this world anymore. The world doesn't need vile scum like him alive." He replied.

Mizore nodded.

With Vergil all healed and Mizore wearing a new pair of clothes, the two finally went to the Newspaper club room. They had explained what happened and everyone looked on shocked. The girls would take turns hugging Mizore but she was okay now but did appreciate her friends for being there for her.

Vergil left Mizore with the others and went back to retrieve the footage. He found today's date and took out the recorded footage then made his way to the director's office. Instead of knocking, Vergil just let himself in catching the director and Ruby by surprise.

"What are you doing in here child of Sparda! You need to knock first!" He said, but Vergil just ignored it.

"I know, but I'm here for an important reason, it's regarding the gym teacher Kotsubo. Watch this and you'll understand." Vergil handed over the video tape and the two watched the horrifying event unfold up till Vergil's appearance. Ruby clamped a hand over her mouth as she watched it all.

"Oh my god…I have to apologize to Mizore right away." She said.

The director grumbled, he hated to admit he made a mistake, but given Vergil's well known reputation, he knew he would have to take responsibility for this all and didn't dare to oppose Vergil.

"It seems….I need to as well. Although I don't approve of the way it ended, the fact of the matter is that miss Shirayuki is safe thanks to you." The director stood up.

"Get miss Shirayuki, I will do this once and only once."

Word didn't take long to spread and back at the newspaper club, in walked Ms. Nekoname.

"Uhm Miss Shirayuki, the director would like to see you."

Mizore stood up.

"He does?" Mizore had faith in Vergil, but she was still a bit worried. She walked with Ms. Nekoname who took her there and once she entered she saw Vergil leaning against the wall facing the door.

"You wanted to see me?" She asked.

The director cleared his throat.

"Vergil has brought my attention towards the incident that happened in the gym today. I thought we could trust Kotsubo and that he had learned his lesson, but it seems, this once I was wrong and I am truly sorry for what you went through. Because of all that happened, I hereby declare that you are given an immediate pass of gym class. You will not need to attend it anymore this year and will be given a spare instead." The director was clearly angry that he had been wrong, but as cold as he was, he did care for his students.

Mizore was happy to hear that, she smiled and bowed.

"Thank you very much sir!" Replied the overjoyed Snow Woman.

"It's the least I can do for what happened today, you may go now." Said the director.

Mizore gave Vergil a smile then left the room and headed back to the newspaper club room.

Ruby came out of her hiding spot, she wanted to apologize to Mizore personally.

The director looked back at Vergil.

"Thank you for letting me know about this child of Sparda, you may leave as well. The school will handle the mess."

Vergil nodded.

"Very well, I'm glad the school is free from a vile scumbag like Kotsubo." With that, Vergil left and returned to the clubroom.

Hours later, the study session was over and everyone said their goodnights. Mizore and Vergil of course walked back together like always.

Before they could exchange words, Vergil felt Ruby's magical aura.

"Hold on Mizore, it seems someone is here to see you." Said Vergil.

Mizore looked to the left and saw Ruby who approached Mizore.

"Mizore…I'm so so sorry. I should have asked you, I should have seen the signs, whenever I mentioned gym I should have noticed the look on your face. I'm so sorry you had to go through all that, it's all my fault." Ruby was in tears, she felt guilty about making her work with him.

Mizore shook her head.

"Ruby its okay, you were just trying to help. You didn't know because you weren't at the school yet, it's partially my fault too. I should have told you, but it was hard to talk about it..so it's okay." Replied Mizore, accepting her apology. She knew Ruby meant well.

The two hugged and Vergil watched on with a smile, it was nice to see two friends make up. So this was just another example of how powerful friendship was, he was finally starting to understand it the longer he stayed here.

The two girls gently separated, Ruby looked over at Vergil.

"Vergil, I must thank you. I may have failed to be helpful, but you were there for Mizore when she needed it, she's lucky to have a friend like you. So I must apologize to you as well. I'm sorry, my lack of knowledge on freshman year put her in danger and I should have been more careful." She bowed her head.

"You don't need to bow your head Ruby. It's fine. You were trying to help her but you didn't know of Kotsubo's slimy history, it isn't you're fault." He replied.

Ruby smiled.

"Thank you Vergil, you two have a pleasant night."

"Same to you Ruby." Said Vergil.

"See you tomorrow." Said Mizore with a wave. Ruby left an returned to her room.

Mizore turned to Vergil, she looked up at him and smiled with pink cheeks.

"Verge…thank you so much for saving me earlier, it wasn't for you…" she trailed off her sentence not wanting to think about it, but she was truly thankful.

Before Vergil could say anything, Mizore leaned up and planted a long kiss on his cheek. Once she pulled away she gave him a hug.

"Thank you…" She whispered.

"I'll always be here for you Mizore…always.." Vergil softly replied.

Mizore smiled and hugged him tightly before letting go.

"I'll see you tomorrow Verge~"

"Goodnight Mizore.."

"Goodnight~" She gave him one last smile then both went to their respective dormitories.

Once back in his room, Vergil changed into comfortable clothes then decided to read a book for a little to take his mind off everything. Once he finished the book Vergil looked back on today.

"With Kotsubo gone, Mizore doesn't need to worry anymore…" He sat there, proud that he listened to his instincts. It felt good seriously hurting him, but the best part was when he let Mizore finish him off, she deserved to do it after everything she had been put through thanks to him.

"Rot in hell you bastard.." Vergil laid his head back and turned off his night lamp then went to bed. Despite the lingering possible threat of the mysterious person the other night, Vergil managed to sleep peacefully.
