"The hell were you two doing in there?" Hikaru asked seeing as no one else was going to talk. He glared at Mori when Haruhi's blush grew deeper.
"W-we weren't doing anything, Hikaru. Just talking." Mori nodded in agreement. You could see in all the host's eyes, minus Honey's, that they didn't believe Haruhi and Mori.
"If that's the case then why is my daughter's face all red?" Tamaki shrieked at them.
"Tamaki calm down. And how many times do I have to tell you that you are NOT my father?" Kyoya grabbed Tamaki by the shirt as he was retreating to his corner and pulled him back to his side.
"Just tell me one thing, Haruhi, are we still on for tomorrow night? I would like to know now so I can confirm the reservations I made." Kyoya asked her while still looking at Haruhi's intertwined fingers with Mori's.
"Of course Kyoya-sempai. I promised I would go on a date with you and I don't break my promises." He nodded and walked away, dragging Tamaki along with him.
"You're going on a date with him?" Hikaru and Kaoru asked together. Haruhi nodded.
"Kyoya tomorrow, then Takas…Mori-sempai the day after." Hikaru glared at her before storming away with Kaoru chasing after him, calling out for him.
"I'm sorry about them Haru-chan. They're all really stubborn and don't think when it comes to girl's feelings. Give them a chance to recover." Haruhi, along with Mori and Honey walked to the main room where all the hosts stood with their luggage.
"We're heading home now." Kyoya announced as each host and Haruhi carried their luggage to the waiting limo. The ride back to their town was completely silent. They dropped off Haruhi first knowing she would want to do her homework.
POV inside the limo
"What are we supposed to do about her?" Tamaki asked.
"I say none of us date her or even talk to her anymore so none of us are tempted." Hikaru threw out, still angry at Haruhi.
"I still have a date with her tomorrow and I do not intend to cancel on her." Kyoya snapped at Hikaru.
"But, it's not fair to the rest of us that want her," Kaoru pointed out.
"After her date with Kyo-chan and Takashi, I say we leave her alone for a while. Let her focus on her schoolwork and her father." Honey said sadly.
"Honey-sempai is right. We were all good friends until she showed up and we shouldn't allow one girl to ruin our friendship." Hikaru finally said. They all agreed silently agreed.
END POV
"Haruhi, what' the matter?" Ranka asked her sad that she wasn't eating her delicious food.
"I think my friendship with the host club is over. I have a date with Kyoya tomorrow and then a date with Mori-sempai the day after but, they all seemed upset when we left the beach today." Ranka put his hand on Haruhi's shoulder.
"Don't worry sweetie, I've seen the way they look at you and act with you. If they're mad now, they won't stay that way for long. I'm sure everything will work out." Haruhi nodded and finally took a bite of her dinner.
Next Day
"Haruhi! How was the beach this weekend?" Benio asked her while pulling her into a tight hug.
"How the hell do you know what I did this weekend?" Benio looked ready to start another elaborate story that ends in the same way her other story ended, she asked Haruhi's father. "Benio, I really don't feel like discussing this weekend. I just wanna get through today and then go home." Haruhi walked to her first class leaving behind a depressed looking Benio.
"Hey Haruhi, I heard you went to the beach over the weekend." Hinako smiled up at Haruhi as Haruhi walked to her seat next to Hinako.
"Yeah and I really don't want to talk about it." Hinako nodded and turned her attention to the lesson. After school, Haruhi was met by Chizuru and Benio.
"Don't forget that the culture festival is next week. We'll be preparing for it all of this week." Haruhi nodded as she walked out to the front gates only to see a black limo pull up in front of her. The door opened revealing Kyoya.
"Kyoya! I wasn't sure you'd want to go on our date after the way we all left things at the beach." Kyoya smiled at her before holding his hand out to her. Gently placing her hand in his, Kyoya pulled her into the limo and into his lap. Haruhi blushed as she attempted to climb out of his lap only to be held down. Kyoya grabbed a package from next to him and gave it to Haruhi.
"Put this on. I promise not to look." He told her. Haruhi nodded and sure enough, Kyoya kept his eyes closed as she put on the light blue, figure hugging, floor-length gown and silver two-inch strappy heels.
"Okay, I'm done." Kyoya opened his eyes and smiled at her letting his eyes roam over her body.
"You look beautiful Haruhi." She blushed and thanked him. The limo pulled to a stop and Kyoya opened the door for Haruhi, holding her hand and helping her out of the limo. He had taken her to an expensive restaurant. The lighting was dim with a crystal chandelier in the main hall of the restaurant. They were led to a table in the middle of the room. Haruhi knew people were staring at them, Kyoya was a well-known man.
"How is everyone at the host club Kyoya?" He looked hesitant to answer.
"I'm not going to lie, Haruhi. The host club plans to avoid you after your date with Mori tomorrow. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but unfortunately it was the best option." Kyoya told her while avoiding her gaze.
"That's a lie." Haruhi stated simply.
"And why is that?"
"Because, next week is the culture festival at Ouran. Lobelia is going to be there, remember?" Kyoya was shocked. How could he have missed such a detail?
"Very well, after the culture festival, you will not be hearing from us for a while. It'll be just like you wanted from the beginning." Haruhi nodded and acted as though losing her six best friends wasn't affecting her. After that, they left it alone, instead speaking of their family and lives and how much calmer things were when it was just the two of them.
Kyoya and Haruhi held hands as they walked to the waiting limo.
"Thank you for tonight, Kyoya. It was wonderful."
"Thank you for agreeing to come with me Haruhi. I'm sorry for the news I had to drop on you. I honestly don't want to be away from you." Kyoya told her while helping her into the limo.
"Then don't. Don't leave me alone Kyoya. I would miss you way too much." Haruhi looked up at Kyoya with large, pleading eyes. Kyoya did what his heart told him to do, he kissed her. Haruhi was frozen for a second before responding to his kiss just as passionately. They pulled away, breathing heavier than they had been. When they pulled up in front of Haruhi's apartment, Haruhi gave Kyoya another kiss and went to crawl out of the limo, only to be pulled back by Kyoya.
"Let me continue to see you Haruhi. I know you have a date with Mori-sempai tomorrow, but I can't go without seeing you as often as I have been. I'll visit you secretly, if you'll let me?" Haruhi gave him a huge smile and kissed him again while mumbling yes against his lips. (I know it's ooc for Haruhi but, it's my story so roll with it. ) She got out of the limo with a smile on her face and walked quickly to her apartment. She saw the limo was already gone and went inside.
"Tell me all the juicy details Haruhi!" Ranka bombarded her as soon as she shut the front door.
"Dad, there's nothing to talk about. It was just dinner between two friends."
"Yeah right, I saw the smile on your face as you walked to our apartment. And you were in that limo a while young lady so there is no way you two were just 'talking.'" Ranka stated, proud of himself.
"What do you want me to say dad? We kissed but not before he told me the host club wants nothing to do with me anymore." Ranka looked sad and pulled Haruhi in for a tight hug.
"Those boys are evil and you don't need them. Besides, you have daddy here for you." Haruhi pushed him off of her and ran to bed. (A/N Don't be mad at me for having Haruhi kiss Kyoya. I also love the idea of them together and decided to play on it. Besides, I can't have her get together with Mori right away.)
NEXT DAY
Haruhi woke up happy. She was glad that she at least wouldn't lose Kyoya. She was happy for her date tonight too. Haruhi didn't even care that she would have to see the Zuka club today. But then she groaned to herself as she thought about the rehearsals for the play they would be doing during the culture festival.
"Hey Haruhi! We've been excused from classes today to work on the culture festival play. Isn't that great?" Chizuru asked, running up to Haruhi and grabbing her hand before dragging her in the direction of where the rest of the cast and crew for their production were waiting. They all met in the theater room of the school. Haruhi was led backstage by Sakura. They went through the script and wardrobe for the play. Haruhi was taught how the lights work and they did a run through with the lights and sound. They did it over and over, all day long until it was time to go home. Like the day before, a limo pulled up in front of Haruhi only this time it was Mori.
"Takashi!" He got out and pulled Haruhi into his arms. He kissed the top of her head.
"Did Kyoya tell you about the Host Club's decision?" He asked as they got in the limo together. Haruhi nodded sadly. She wasn't going to tell him about her and Kyoya's promise.
"Did Kyoya tell all of you that I'll still see you at the culture festival?" Mori nodded.
"This is going to be hard. I don't want to be away from you Haruhi." Haruhi kissed his cheek.
"I don't want to be away from you or the rest of the host club either." She leaned against his shoulder.
"We could sneak around. They wouldn't have to know Haruhi." She shook her head. 'What the hell am I doing? I said yes to Kyoya yet here I am rejecting Takashi?'
"What if we get caught, I don't want the host club to be mad at you because you couldn't follow their rules Takashi. I don't want to be the reason you get in a fight with them."
"Mitsukuni and I could protect you from them. And I'll be graduating soon. I don't mind." He pleaded with her.
"I just don't want to risk it. Let them cool off for a bit. Okay?" He nodded as they reached the park. They walked hand in hand to the table where a basket of food was waiting. They were sat near a pond where the trees made the perfect amount of shade. They ate in a peaceful silence.
"So how is the host club?" Haruhi asked finally breaking the silence.
"I think they all miss you even though they won't say it. Mitsukuni really misses you, Haruhi. He thinks they're overreacting." Haruhi smiled at that.
"I'll see him again next week. Maybe he can let me borrow Usa-chan so I have a reason to go back to Ouran." She gave a weak laugh. Mori got up and helped Haruhi to her feet. They walked hand in hand down to the pond and sat in the grass. Haruhi sat between Mori's legs with his arms wrapped around her waist. She leaned her head back against his chest as he bent his head down and kissed her hair. They didn't need to fill the silence with pointless talking. Just being in each other's presence was enough for them. Haruhi wasn't even bothered when thunder rumbled overhead. She sat quietly in the arms of her gentle giant. The both ran to the limo when the rain started to pour down.
"Takashi, I changed my mind. I want to see you whenever I can." He smiled and kissed her as gently as he could.
"Let's get you home before you get soaked." Haruhi nodded and the two of them sat close together in the limo. He dropped her at home, giving her a goodnight kiss and denying her invite to come inside. Haruhi went inside only to be faced with silence.
"Dad?" There was no answer. She found a note on the counter.
"Haruhi, I was called into work, won't be back until tomorrow. We can talk about your second date then. Daddy loves you Haruhi." Haruhi made some tea for herself and sighed before crawling over to her mother's shrine.
"Mom, I don't know what to do. I like Kyoya and Takashi very much, but I can't choose between them. Maybe it would be easier to just forget them all and focus on school. Just focus on becoming a lawyer like you. I wish you were here mom. I need you." Haruhi was crying by now, jumping every time thunder rumbled. There was a knock at the door, which Haruhi ignored, while she was drifting to sleep on the floor holding her mother's photo.
Haruhi woke up the next morning in her bed. She smelled food cooking and prayed to God that her father wasn't the one in the kitchen. She ran in the kitchen only to find Kyoya flipping an egg in a frying pan.
"Kyoya, what are you doing here? And how did you get in my house, I know I locked the door last night." Kyoya merely pushed her into a chair and put the egg on a plate in front of her.
"Your father gave me a key back when he was in the hospital. And I was worried about you last night since it was thundering out. I came in and found you asleep on the floor so I carried you to your room and slept on the couch. I figured you'd be hungry when you woke up so I decided to make breakfast." He told her like it was nothing.
"Thank you Kyoya, this is really good." Haruhi finished her omelet and quickly did the dishes before being pulled outside by Kyoya. He opened the passenger door of the car and helped her in. Her got in the driver's side and drove her to school while holding her hand. Half way through, Haruhi pulled her hand from his.
"Something the matter Haruhi?" Kyoya asked her.
"Kyoya, I like both you and Takashi, but I don't want to lead either of you on. You know Takashi and I kissed at the beach house. He and I kissed last night on my date with him. I'm not going to pretend I don't feel something for both of you, but I don't want to end up losing you both because I can't make up my mind. I can't keep seeing you in private Kyoya, it just isn't fair to you. I think the rest of the host club was right when they said we should stay away from each other for now." Kyoya nodded.
"Then, after the culture festival, we say goodbye?"
"Unfortunately, yes. It's for the best. I'll tell Mori-sempai the day of the festival." Kyoya nodded again in agreement, refusing to speak. He dropped her off at Lobelia, leaving the minute she shut the car door.
I'm going to skip ahead to the culture festival, mostly because I don't feel like writing about the rest of her week.
Waking up Monday morning, Haruhi was excited. She'd get to see the host club again. 'Wait, why am I getting excited? We aren't considered friends anymore.' She put on her Lobelia uniform and brushed her now shoulder length hair. She put a pink bow in her hair that went with her uniform. She walked to school only to find Benio, Chizuru and Hinako waiting with a limo for her.
"Maiden, you're finally here. Now we can all ride together to Ouran Academy." Haruhi smiled at them as she slid into the car. For the remainder of last week, she had become closer with the Zuka club. They liked her for her, never once judging her commoner status like the host club had. They tried to buy her pretty dresses.
"Haruhi, do you want to come with us to meet that filthy host club?" (Yes they have met them before, but they didn't know it was them when they met. For my story that's how it will be anyways.)
"I don't think I should. I should really help set up for the festival." Haruhi said quickly.
"Don't you have friends here Haruhi? Don't you want to see those filthy boys that were crowding your father's hospital room?" Benio asked her.
"I suppose I could meet the Host club with you. But keep me out of any arguments you get into, got it?" They all nodded quickly. They arrived at the school and quickly made their way up the third music room all receiving a lot of stares from the Ouran students. Opening the doors, they found the host club dressed as knights.
"What the hell! You're the host club?" Benio yelled before turning to Haruhi, "Why didn't you warn us that they were the host club back when we met them at the hospital?"
"I didn't feel like it was important." The host club were all staring at Haruhi. Most of them hadn't seen her in a week.
'She looks so cute in that uniform.' Tamaki thought while staring at her.
'I miss having her around. No way can I agree to our new rules.' The twins had the same thought while watching Haruhi interact with the Zuka club.
"Haru-chan you look cute in that uniform." Honey yelled while throwing himself at her for a hug.
"Honey-sempai, we are staying away from Haruhi, remember? Giving her a chance to achieve her goals." Honey hopped off of Haruhi and backed away.
"Mori-sempai, can I speak to you real quick?" Mori looked surprised that she hadn't used his first name like she usually did. He nodded and followed her out into the hall.
"What's wrong Haruhi?" She looked at her feet.
"I'll tell you the same thing I told Kyoya, we can't sneak around and see each other in private. I like you and Kyoya and I don't want to have to choose between you two, so I'm doing the next best thing and choosing neither you nor Kyoya. I refuse to continue leading you on. I like you Mori-sempai, but it is for the best that we stay from each other." She kissed his cheek before going back into the music room.
"Benio, I'm going to go help set up. You can finish up with the host club, I know I have." She took one last glance at each individual host member before walking out and not once looking back. She had tears running down her face but she knew if she turned around, she'd beg them to let her stay around.
With the Host Club
The Zuka club had left only a minute after Haruhi had.
"We can't let her walk out of our lives." Hikaru decided to say.
"I agree, she's too much a part of our lives. We'll just remain friends with her." Kaoru followed after his brother.
"I miss seeing Haru-chan."
"I love her," Kyoya and Mori said at the same time. The rest of the hosts looked up at them.
"About time you said it out loud Mon Ami." Tamaki said while putting a hand on Kyoya's shoulder.
"What do we do now? You heard Haruhi. She's done with the host club. We probably hurt her when we said we were going to avoid her." The twins exclaimed together.
"I got it!" Tamaki shouted before gathering them all together to tell them of his plan.
Okay, so I am going to end it there. Mostly because I have a class to get to. I promise to start updating more now that I have some sort of free time.
