Summary: I do not own Akame Ga Kiru!
The next morning had occurred. The sun has risen, everyone had eaten, dressed up and they were prepared for the dangers inside of the deserted village. Everyone was outside.
"Okay everyone, this village is deserted. We will be searching throughout this village for bandits, treasures and weapons. Is that clear, everyone?" Spear ordered.
"Yes ma'am!" the soldiers replied.
"Right." Flare said.
"Good. Now everyone, let's move in!" Spear pointed towards the door.
"Yes ma'am!" the soldiers yelled as they
"Wait, what about your dad?" Flare asked.
"My father has a weak heart. I will leave three of our soldiers to stand by and protect him as we go in and secure the castle." Spear explained.
They began to move inside of the castle. As they walked through the doors and entered the main hall. They had began to notice many things. Rubble, dust, rats crawling around, furniture out of place, broken glass windows, a number of spider webs. Flare and the others took a few minutes and looked around inside of the abandoned castle.
Spear then turned to everyone. "Alright everyone, here's how it goes. We are going to split up, and search the lower levels of the castle, then the middle levels, then the higher levels. Once we've finish searching the entire castle, we will meet back here and settle for camp. If you are caught into danger, scream as loud as you can and we will come aid you as best we can. Ok everyone ready… set… search!" Spear yelled.
"Yes ma'am!" the guards then split up and ran into different directions.
Flare had stared at the guards who had taken off. "These guards really do look tough." Flare said as he watched them split up.
"Of course, they're the remaining soldiers my father had to offer." Spear smiled at Flare.
"Well, it looks like I better get started." Flare said as he began to walk.
As soon as Flare about to set foot, Spear grabbed his arm. "Flare. You're coming with me." Spear said smiling at him.
"Wait, just the two of us?" he asked.
"Mhmm." Spear nodded. "I have confidents in your skills." She said.
Flare had slightly blushed. "So, which one are we going?" he asked.
"Easy. We're going…" She pointed towards the stairs.
Flare looked at the old stairs and realized that they're the only ones going upstairs. "Wait, what abo—"
"Shh. Don't make any noises. We're going upstairs." Spear whispered quietly in his ear. Spear smiled with a red fuzz on her face and quietly took his hand and walked him up the old stairs.
"Wait, what is she doing? Aren't we all supposed to search throughout lower levels of the castle?" Flare thought as he is walking up the stairs.
As they went on the second floor, the two had begun searching together. They entered a long hall where there are doors on each side inside the hallway. There were many doors they had to explore. Inside the hall was a the floor was covered with stones, the walls had cement, the ceiling above was covered with attached bricks. The hallway was designed by talented artists a centuries ago.
"This is a nice hallway." Flare commented as he looked around.
"Isn't it?" Spear smiled. "Well, let's get started." Spear opened the first door on the right and found nothing but a normal wooden bed, a dresser, and a desk with a small window over the desk. "There's no one in here." She said.
"I'll go ahead and check the doors on this side of the hallway." Flare said as he opened the first door on the left side of the hallway. He found nothing but a bed, a dresser, and a desk with a small window as well. He closed the door. "Spear, I found the same thing." Flare turned and told Spear.
"I guess we just have to keep searching." She said.
Moments later, they had opened door by door and found nothing but the same results over and over. Flare was mentally getting tired of opening doors.
Flare had looked at the last door on the end of the hallway. "Alright, let's get this last door over with." He said as he is reaching his arm out for the last door. "!" He then sensed something on the other side of the door and pulled his hand back from the door knob. 'What am I sensing here? This feeling… it feels cold… deadly. Is it a Danger Beast, or is it something else?' Flare thought to himself as his body had frozen from the feeling.
Spear closed the third door to the last. As she turned to Flare, she had noticed that Flare was frozen in place. She became worried about Flare and walked towards him. "Flare?" she asked. She placed her left hand on his right shoulder causing him to snap out of it. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Spear." He said.
"Hm?"
"That door you just closed, can you leave it cracked open?" he asked in a silent voice.
"But… why?" she asked.
"There's something dangerous inside this room." He said in a silent voice.
"What?" she asked.
"I'm going to need you to keep your voice down. If something happens, we're going to run in." Flare said.
Spear understood. "Got it." She went back to the previous door and cracked it open as he told her, then moved walked back to Flare. She quickly moved behind him and placed one of her hands on his back and her other hand grappling her spear. Flare moved closer to the door and placed his hand on his door knob. A drop of sweat had formed on the left side of Spear's face. As he slowly turned the door knob, Spear had begun to slowly sweat. 'Alright… time to open it.' he thought. He then slowly cracked the door open wide enough for them to stick their heads in.
They both looked and found an unknown Danger Beast sleeping on top of a human king-sized bed. "!" they both were shocked to see a beast of an unknown species.
"What is that?" Spear asked in a silent voice.
This Beast is called the Blindternal. It is a species of A-Class Danger Beast that is capable of hunting prey. It is a humanoid Danger Beast with no eyes, an exposed brain on top of its head, sharp teeth, skinless red flesh, sharp claws, it can move on all fours, long tongues, and sharp teeth.
The Blindternals are naturally blind and are capable of sensing prey. Blindternals can only sense hostility and fear from its prey. They cannot sense those that have a strong will, like expert Imperial Arm users. Blindternals are nocturnal, meaning that they are only active at night. If they were to come across prey during the day, they will have no choice to attack.
Blindternals has a whip-like tongue. It can lash their tongue out like a whip and its tongue are strong enough to wrap around a single human, and can stretch out long enough to 13 inches. Its tongue is sharp enough to penetrate flesh, will cause a certain paralysis through the wound.
The victim will be paralyzed for only thirty seconds, depending where they get hit. If they were hit in the spinal area, the paralysis may even take longer. Its claws are sharp and strong enough to slash through flesh, bones, wood, and certain armor. It is fast enough to keep up with horses. It has a healing factor, meaning it can regenerate any wound throughout the body, except for the brain. The only way to kill it is to destroy the brain on top of its head.
"I don't know. But our best chance is not to disturb it." Flare silently responded.
"Right." Spear said.
They both slowly took steps back away from the door. Flare instantly grabbed the door knob and tried to close the door. 'Now I just need to close the—'
Found the two in a dark hallway. "Hey, Lady Spear!" a guard yelled.
"!" At that moment, Flare and Spear both froze from the sound of the guard's voice.
"What the hell is he doing?" Flare thought as he is sensing bad vibes.
"The first floor is all clear! We were looking for you and—" the guard stopped as he looked closely towards Spear. "?"
Spear turned towards guard and gave him hand gestures telling him to go back.
"What are you doing?" The Guard asked confused.
"Go back!" Spear yelled silently.
"But why?" the Guard asked.
The Blindternal woke up and had begun to move after hearing the Guard's voice.
Flare had taken a look back at the Blindternal, and realized it woke up. His eyes widened. 'Shit! It's awake!' He thought. Flare slammed the door and locked it. The Blindternal heard the door slam and quickly turned towards the door.
"Spear, it's awake! Hide!" Flare said in a silent voice.
"What?" Spear hesitated to move for a couple of seconds until she heard bangs coming from the locked door. Flare rushed to the door to keep pressure on it and to stop the Danger Beast from breaking through.
"But… what about you?" Spear asked in a worried manner.
"I'll try to-" Bang on the door. "Hold it off as-" Bang on the door. "Long as I ca-" Bang on the door. "Hurry!" he yelled.
Spear ran towards the door she left cracked open. As soon as she got in, she locked the door behind him. Leaving Flare who is holding the door and the Guard who is at the other end of the hallway.
The Guard walked a few steps forward. "Wait, what the hell's going on here?" the Guard asked.
"Stay back!" Flare yelled as he turned his head towards the Guard.
"Wait. Is someone in there?" the Guard asked.
"Look, there's no time to explain! You gotta get outta—" Before he could finish telling the Guard, the Blindternal rammed through the broken door sending Flare backwards towards the to wall. "Ugh!" he groaned. The door is now broken and the Danger Beast is now free. The first thing it sensed was Flare who's back was against the wall, sitting in front of him.
Flare had no idea it was going to stay and watch or attack him. The Danger Beast's opened its mouth and revealed its razor sharp teeth to Flare. As they stare at each other, Flare remembered what Father Christopher told him to do back in his village. 'Remember, if you are caught inside of a deadly situation, stay calm and think of a strategy.' Flare remembered what the Priest said and did not move a muscle.
The Guard is shaking as he stared at the Danger Beast who is staring down at Flare. Seconds later, the Guard broke silence. "What is that THING?!" the Guard asked in shock.
The Danger Beast quickly turned its head the Guard and started moving slowly towards him, step by step. The Guard was scared, he gripped his weapon really tight. The Danger Beast then growled at the Guard who is cowering in fear. The Guard had begun to sweat out of fear. 'W-what the hell is that?' he thought as he is shaking.
As Flare watched the Danger Beast move towards the guard, he saw the Guard move his right foot back, then his left foot. "Do not run!" Flare yelled.
The Danger Beast roared at the Guard. "AAAHH!" the Guard screamed then turned and ran without a care in the world. The Beast started chasing the Guard.
Flare rubbed his head. "Shit. This isn't good." He said as he got up.
Spear opened the door. "Flare!" she spotted him. "What happened?" she asked.
"That Danger Beast spotted one of the Guards and started chasing him." Flare explained.
"We have to save them!" Spear said as she gripped her spear.
"Right." He said.
"AAAAAAAAH!" more screams came from the lower floor.
"Oh no…" Spear said. The two then ran towards the stairs, as they got their, they saw the Danger Beast knocking the Guards left and right.
"!" Spear gasped when she saw a few of her guards dead on the floor and those whom are injured. One Guard was ripped in half by the Danger from the lower torso, and left to die. Another guard had his face bitten off, it so gory, you couldn't recognize what he looked like. One Guard had his right leg bitten off, he was still alive but bleeding out badly. One Guard had died of shock when the Danger Beast bit its lower left neck out. One Guard had claw slashes on his face, he stopped responding. Two Guards were paralyzed from getting whiplashed by the Danger Beast's tongue. One Guard's head was thrown into the wall, it looks like he's not getting up anytime soon. One Guard was thrown to the wall and got knocked out cold, falling into unconsciousness. Three Guards were left fighting the Danger Beast.
As she saw the situation her warriors were in, she angrily gritted her teeth and tears had form into her eyes. She angrily ran down the stairs charging toward the Danger Beast.
Flare then noticed. "Spear, wait!" he grabbed her arm. "We need a plan! If you run down there without thinking, you'll be killed!" Flare said as he's trying to calm her down.
Spear then removed his hand. "My warriors are dying! And you want me to stay here and plan?" she yelled.
"That's not what I'm saying…! If you just charge down there, you'll die." He said.
"AAAARGH!" another Guard screamed. Flare and Spear looked and saw one of the Guards struggling against the beast. The Guard pierced its sword into the Danger Beast's chest, but it seems it has no effect at all. "It won't let go of my sword!" the Guard yelled. He is struggling to free his sword from the Danger Beast's torso.
"Spear! We need your help!" Another Guard yelled.
Spear looked at her men thinking about the situation at hand. And then she looked back at Flare and made her decision. "I'm sorry." She ran down stairs to aid her men.
"Damn it…" Flare silently cursed himself for not changing her mind. So he went after Spear and prepared to fight the Danger Beast.
The Danger Beast grabbed the Guard with the sword whom impaled it in the torso by the arms and lifted him up. "P-put me down!" the Guard with the sword screamed.
The Danger Beast then opened his mouth revealing its sharp teeth.
The Guard with the sword was scared for his life. As he looked inside of the Danger Beast's mouth, he realized that he was staring inside the jaws of death. Tears came fell the man's eyes and he was drowning in fear. He gave out another scream.
Spear quickly rushed towards the Danger Beast and gave out a yell. The Beast closed its mouth and noticed Spear rushing towards him with a spear, the Beast was not dumb.
"Take this!" Spear yelled.
Seconds before Spear could pierce its flesh, The Danger Beast used the Guard it was holding in midair, and used him to its advantage. It quickly used the Guard as a human shield, and her spear struck through the Guard's chest. "!" the Guard was in shock. Blood was spat from his mouth.
Flare and the other Guards watched what happened and a lot of their eyes were widened.
"!" Spear gasped as she saw what she has done. She had speared one of her own Guards by accident. She stood there in looking at the injured Guard in horror from behind. The dying Guard's helmet apparently fell off his head.
The Guard was losing consciousness. Before he could black out, he had enough strength to turn his head around and look at Spear. "Lady Spear… why?" the Guard asked with his dying breathe.
She let go of her weapon and took a few steps back. She fell on her knees and her eyes had started to water. "I'm sorry…" Spear apologized.
But before the Guard could utter another word, the Danger Beast that held him opened its mouth again but wider.
"No!" another Guard yelled.
The Danger Beast took the dying Guard's entire head with one bite. Everyone else looked in horror, especially Spear.
She placed her hand over her mouth. "No… no…" Spear said. As she sat there in that spot, she couldn't help but think about what the Guard said. 'Lady Spear… why?' Tears had finally streamed down her face. She had finally broken down in tears. "That wasn't me… I didn't!" Spear yelled. Spear was in a panick.
The Danger Beast then discarded the decapitated Guard's body by throwing it, hitting a nearby pillar. It then walked up to the now broken down Spear whom was still on her knees. It pulled out its sharp claws getting ready to murder Spear.
Flare knew what was going to happen next. He looked for a nearby weapon and found one of the Guard's swords and picked it up. He then rushed towards Spear in order to save her. 'It's gonna kill her'! he thought.
The Danger Beast lifted its right arm in the air. The remaining Guards looked at what was about to happen.
"Lady Spear! Get out of there!" One of the Guards yelled.
"Hurry! Lady Spear!" Another Guard yelled.
'I'm sorry everyone. I just can't…' She thought. Spear did not budge from that spot.
The Danger Beast stood over and looked down at Spear for a couple of seconds..
"Lady Spear!" the Guard yelled.
The Danger Beast used its sharp tongue and slashed across her chest. "Agh!" Spear was in shock. That slash sent Spear flying midair backwards.
"SPEAR!" The remaining Guards yelled in shock.
As Spear's body flown within the air, Spear couldn't help but think. 'I'm sorry. Father… Flare… Everyone. I failed as a leader.' She thought.
Flare jumped and caught her within midair bridal style before she could hit the front of the stairs. "I got you!" Flare yelled. He laid her by the steps and checked her pulse. "She's unconscious. And she's losing too much blood.
"Nice work, Flare!" one of the remaining Guards said.
"Thanks, but it's not over. We still have to take care of that thing. I'll heal Spear right now." He said.
"Just do it and get in the fight!" the Guard yelled.
"Right." Flare said as he had prepared to heal the Injured Spear. He looked at her body and discovered a large wound across her abdomen. 'Damn, I need to hurry up if I need to save her!' Flare thought as he ignited light flames across his hands. He then placed his hand on her bleeding chest. 'Come on, this is not the time for that!' He thought while trying to hide his blush. "Flame Recovery." He chanted. The healing process had started.
The Danger Beast had turned its head and noticed Flare is healing Spear. It then started moving towards Flare.
"Oh shit!" the Guard knew it was after Spear. "We have to draw its attention!" he said as he picked up a rock.
As the Danger Beast get in pouncing position, it felt a couple of rocks hit its side. As it looked over, the remaining Guards was carrying a rock.
"Hey, piece of shit! Stay away from her!" One of the remaining Guards yelled.
The Danger Beast moved its attention back to the Guards.
A minutes had passed. "Alright, she's done. She should be getting up soon." He said. Flare had completely sealed the wound and healed her entirely. "?" realized she is still no responding. 'Wait, why isn't she responding? She's alive… so why isn't she responding?' he thought to himself.
"What's the problem! Did you heal her or not?" one of the Guards yelled.
"I did! But I don't know what happened!" Flare yelled.
"Well, figure something out! We need the both of you!" the Guard said while holding off the Danger Beast with his shield.
"Tch." Flare gritted his teeth. He
"F…Flare." Spear said.
He heard a nearby voice, then looked down and saw a conscious Spear. "Spear!" Flare responded.
"I'm… sorry. I let everyone down." Spear said as tears had formed in her eyes.
Flare sat her up by the stairs. "Don't worry about that right now. Right now, I need you to stay here and save your strength." He said trying to cheer her up.
Spear looked the other way blushing. "Okay…" As he is about to go into battle, Spear grabbed his arm at the last second. "Wait. I have something to tell you." She said.
"What is it?" he asked.
Spear looked at Flare. "Don't let its tongue hit you. My body became paralyzed for a minute." She said in a worried tone.
"I won't." Flare smiled at her.
Spear blushed at his smile. "!" She gasped as she noticed that the Danger Beast had knocked out the the other two guards.
The Beast then turned towards Flare and Spear whom were the only conscious ones left.
"I'll be right back." Flare said. He grabbed a nearby sword and gripped the hilt. He charged at the Danger Beast. As it lashed its tongue out, Flare dodged it and continued moving forward. As he got in close range, the beast tried to slash Flare with its right, but Flare ended up dodging by jumping into the air.
As he was in the air, he couldn't help but think about its brain on its head. 'That must be the weakspot.' He thought. He then dived down and struck the Danger Beast's brain with its sword. The Danger Beast collapsed dead. Flare had killed it.
Spear witnessed it. She stared at Flare's backside and realized how heroic he was. She then blushed with a smile.
Flare then turned to Spear out of concern. "Spear, are you ok—"
Before he could finish his question, Spear quickly jumped into his arms. "You did it! You killed it!" she said in a excited tone.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"Mm-hmm." She nodded her head. "I am now, thanks to you…" she said.
Flare looked around and saw the corpses of her men, then looked back at Spear. "I'm sorry for what happened to your men." He apologized.
"Don't blame yourself. I wanted to come here." She said looking down.
"Wait, what?" Flare asked in confusion.
"It's not what you think…" Spear had recalled her past. "When I was a little girl, my father used to take me here once a year during the cold harsh winter. He would bring his warriors and me, and my late mother to secure the castle first and take refuge. We would have parties here. There was an incident inside of the castle where there were unknown Danger Beasts. My mother was on the front line. She told me… 'It's going to be alright.' Spear recalled her mother's last words before heading in to battle. "After that, I never saw her again. She died during the raid. We were forced to flee, and suffered many casualties, including my mother." Tears had started to stream down her cheeks as she told her tale. "We never came back to this castle after that. I wanted come back and slaughter those beasts who took my mother." She said wiping her eyes.
'So she came here to get revenge for what its kind did to her mother.' Flare thought.
"And there was another thing… I wanted to tell you." She said.
"What's that?" Flare asked.
"Well, you see…" Spear took Flare's left hand and placed it on her right cheek. "I've been thinking about something the other day." She took her time. "Remember when my father teased about the two of us being a couple the other day?" she asked.
"Sure, I remember." He said recalling the time in the carriage.
"I've been thinking about it for a while now." Spear said.
Flare knew where she was going with this. "You mean…"
"To be honest, I want to be with you." Spear confessed.
Flare then thought about Seryu and Esdeath, he then gently took his hand back from Spear. "I'm sorry, Spear. I'm dating a few other girls right now." He said honestly.
"I don't care!" Spear yelled then looked down. "I just… want to be with you…" she said in a dim voice.
Flare thought about it for a couple of seconds. "I can have you meet them and we'll work things out." He said.
"Thank you…" she said smiling with tears forming.
Without realizing at first, a large purple circle with a Yin-Yang symbol in the middle appears once again. They both noticed it under their feet.
"What's happening?" Spear asked.
"I know this symbol, this is HIS doing!" Flare said.
"What?" Spear asked in confusion.
Moments later, they were transported from the castle to another location.
Seconds later, the castle doors are opened by Chouri's Guards and Chouri walked inside.
"Oh my god." Chouri said looking at the corpses of his men. "What in blazes has happened here?" he asked himself as he looked at the Danger Beast.
The Guards checked the men to see if they were still alive, but they all succumbed to their injuries. "They're dead, Lord Chouri." One of Chouri's Guards said.
"Spear! Spear!" Chouri yelled trying to call her name but heard no response. "Where could she be?" he asked himself.
Meanwhile, Flare and Spear were transported back to the peak of Mt. Fake and the sun was beginning to rise. Flare looked around and noticed he was at the same spot where he met Syura. "Wait, I know this place." He said recalling.
"So do I." Spear said.
"You've been here as well?" he asked.
"Yes. A couple of years back." She recalled.
"Nice to see you again, Flare." Flare remembered a familiar voice. "I see you made it as well." A certain someone walked from behind the rocks and that person happened to be Esdeath.
"General Esdeath!" Flare said in relief.
