Chapter Thirteen: She's Got Fire

Seth's Point of View

I was trying to keep calm. I hadn't seen Karen throughout the entire lunch period and I was a little jumpy. I knew the guys could tell I was anxious.

"I think you're handling this very well," a voice came from behind me as I threw away my trash. I turned around to see Jared behind me with his and Kim's trays. "When I first imprinted on Kim I couldn't be away from her for more than ten minutes without freaking out wondering if she was alright."

I swallowed, "Does it get easier?" I asked honestly wondering.

Jared threw away the garbage and put the trays away on the belt next to the garbage can. "Honestly, I still get nervous when Kim is away from me but you do learn how to deal with it." Jared put a comforting hand on my shoulder as we walked back to the table. "It's never easy for the wolf when it comes to his imprint but the good thing about having the imprint is that you know it goes both ways." I looked at him questioningly. "The imprint won't feel the immediate love that we as the wolves do but they do feel a pull towards us." Jared shrugged slightly. "They'll feel the attraction; they'll want to be near us too just not to the same degree as us in the beginning." Jared smiled at me. "Don't worry I'm sure Karen is thinking about you and wondering why throughout the entire day."

We had just reached the table and Jared gave me one last encouraging smile before moving towards Kim and grabbing one of her hands in his. I sighed before turning back to the table. Jake saw my face and slapped one hand onto my shoulder before squeezing it.

"Don't worry you'll see her soon," he said comfortingly. "What class does she have next?"

"Economics," I answered. Jake rose an eyebrow.

"I thought she was a sophomore like you?"

"She is she's just really smart," I told him a smile slipping onto my face as I thought of Karen.

"Well I'm in that class. If you want I can watch out for her?" Jake offered. I looked up at him.

"Really?"

"Yeah I'll make sure no one messes with her," Jake said. I gave him a smile.

"Thanks Jake."

"No problem pup."

The bell rang and after saying our goodbyes we headed to our respective classes.

Class was boring and I was wondering what Karen was doing. I'll at least see her eighth period. I told myself.

Before class started my phone vibrated in my pocket. While the teacher wasn't looking I took it out and hiding it in my books I saw I got a message from Jake. My heart sped up. I hope Karen's okay. What if she got hurt? What if something happened? I quickly opened the message and read what Jake had typed.

Jake: She's got some spunk :)

Me: What do you mean?

Jake: I was watching her see what she's like and 1st I thought she was just shy and meek maybe even scared of me but then she looked at me and raised an eyebrow as if to say U got a problem? Stop staring.

Me: haha really?

Jake: yeah she's got my vote

I couldn't help smiling. My girl had some fire. Just then the bell rang signaling the start of class. I slipped my phone back in my pocket and with a little calmer than before knowing that Karen at least had Jake looking out for her. The rest of the class passed by relatively smooth.

After class I met up with Jake, Embry, and Quil at Jake's locker where we normally met.

I looked at Jake expectantly, "So?" Jake just grinned at me.

"She so far has a good image with the teacher didn't have any troubles with any of the other students except perhaps yours truly in the beginning, and she didn't really talk to anyone just took notes and did her work," He reported.

"Wait what problem did she have with you?" Quil asked curiously. Embry looked at Jake as well wondering what the answer was and slightly eyeing me hoping I wouldn't get angry and phase because of it. I just smiled and let out a laugh.

Jake rubbed the back of his neck and smiled, "I may have been watching her to see what she would do, you know get a feel for what she was like personality wise," Jake started. "At first she dropped her eyes down, I thought she was probably just shy and meek like Kim was or was even scared of me, but then she raised her head and looked me dead in the eye and I swear it was like she was saying, 'You got a problem with me? Stop staring.' It was hilarious." Jake said letting out a chuckle with Quil and Embry.

"Man I like her already," Embry said.

"Well that's good because I think you have a class with her next," I told Embry. He grinned.

"I can't wait to officially meet her." I laughed. I liked that the pack was all falling in love with Karen. It made me love her even more if that was possible.

Quil checked his watch. "Three minutes before class I got to go," he said and with that he walked towards his locker.

"I should get going to. I don't want to make a bad impression," Embry said with a wink. "I'll let you know how it goes," he told me as he walked off to his class. Jake shot me a smile and clapped his hand on my shoulder before going to his own class. I wondered what Karen would think of Embry.

Again because I knew Embry was there to watch over Karen I felt a lot better. Maybe this was what Jared was talking about; you learn to deal with it. It also helps that she has a pack member in every one of her classes to watch over her. Except first of course. I felt myself frown at that. But I couldn't have everything I wanted. I had her and she was protected for most of her classes. I would just have to be happy with that and accept it. And as for her first period…like Jared said I would have to learn how to deal with it.
