"Jerk." Kagome gave herself a moment to cool down. I'll admit, it was probably kind of rude to stare at him like that. But it's not like he had to say something. What does he care if I'm looking at him. What was I supposed to do. Putting his arm around me and...
Feeling her stomach start to rumble, which interrupted her train of thought, she turned expecting to see her mother making breakfast but ended up walking in to an empty kitchen. "Oh yeah, mom is gone." She slid the door open just enough for her to peek back into the room where Sota and Sesshomaru were. "Hey Sota." Sota, consumed in his game did not respond. "Sota!" Kagome groaned. She marched out of the kitchen in front of the television.
"KO. You lose!" The voice of the video game announcer bellowed.
"Hey! Kagome! Move out of the way!" Sota leaned from side to side trying to regain vision of the screen.
"Well I wouldn't have had to interrupt if you would have been paying attention. Have you looked away from the TV long enough to notice that mom's not here?" Kagome's crossed her arms and swayed in whichever direction Sota leaned to be sure to completely block his vision. Sota paused the game and groaned.
"Of course I've noticed."
"Well, don't you care where she is?"
"I already know where she is. Sesshomaru told me."
"Eh- Sesshomaru?" Kagome looked over to Sesshomaru who was still resting with his eyes closed. He paid no mind to their conversation. Sesshomaru talked to Sota?
"Sesshomaru's been down here for hours while you slept in. I just asked him where mom was and he told me." Sota looked back at the resting Sesshomaru. "He doesn't talk a lot but I guess he answers important questions. So no biggie, right?"
"Right." Kagome continued to gape at Sesshomaru.
"Sis, could you move now, please?"
Hours? "Oh. Well I guess I'm sorry then." Kagome stepped to the side of the television. "Do you want me to make breakfast?"
"Already had it. It's pretty much already lunchtime anyway. Don't you know what time it is?" Kagome grabbed the cellphone she'd just shown Sesshomaru.
"What!? It's already noon? How could I have not noticed? How did I sleep in so late?" She screeched and began to pace around the room. Kagome likely slept for about ten hours. She had no idea that she was so exhausted. There were so many things she had yet to do. She was supposed to invite her friends by now. She was making short notice even shorter.
Sesshomaru gnashed his teeth bothered by the sheer volume and pitch of Kagome's breakdown. He'd rested enough for the time being. The girl was a bit too lively for his in that moment and he had important matters to attend to. He moved himself from the couch and approached the door.
"I am going out. I will be back soon" He unlatched the door and opened it. Kagome stopped mid pace and quickly scurried over to him and put a hand on his shoulder to stop him from leaving.
"What? Out? What do you mean out? You mean without me?" Sesshomaru moved to continue on his way when Kagome moved her hand to grab on to his empty sleeve further preventing him from moving.
"Hrrng," he growled.
"Wait, no! You can't go out by yourself."
"Leave me be, miko." As he attempted to move forward Kagome was dragged along with him. "I will be back within a few hours." Kagome felt a warm energy on her hand. Sesshomaru converted his form in to a ball of energy that Kagome was no longer able to grab a hold of. With great speed Sesshomaru was off like a shooting star in daylight. A small piece of paper fluttered to the ground. Kagome picked up a small scrap with very beautiful handwriting.

These are all things that are related to our trip. What is he doing out there? He can't exactly collect these things. Maybe food but I'll take care of that. Unless there's something else he could be doing. What is he doing out there alone? If I'm not supposed to trust Sesshomaru how am I supposed to trust him to go out alone? Seeing as there was not much that Kagome could do to stop Sesshomaru given that there was no way that she was going to be able to catch up with him, Kagome went back into the house and locked the door behind her. She decided that she would go ahead and make some lunch for herself and Sota. She couldn't help but worry about Sesshomaru. What if someone says something rude to him? What if he attacks someone like he attacked me? If there was one thing she was grateful for when Inuyasha came to the future it was that she was fairly certain that he would never hurt anyone. In fact, sometimes he would save random strangers on the street. She wasn't so certain that something horribly wrong could happen with Sesshomaru.
"Ouch!" paying more attention to her thoughts than her cooking Kagome cut her finger. She stuck her finger in her mouth to keep the small amount of blood from spilling on to the counter or on the food. She shook he head. She needed to concentrate. She knew that she couldn't trust Sesshomaru but she had to hope he wouldn't do anything. Worst-case scenario she could go back to the past and somehow get Inuyasha through the well. "That is… if he would help me now." Kagome put a Band-Aid and a small latex finger cover over her finger and continued cooking.
As Kagome and Sota sat down for lunch she tried to plan out the next few days in her head. So if we're going to go to the beach, a hotel, and an amusement park in a group who should I invite. I know that I'll definitely invite Eri, Ayumi, and Yuka. She circled their names on her notepad. As long as they promise not to harass Sesshomaru with too many questions. But then that leaves Sesshomaru all alone with a group of girls. That doesn't seem like it would be any fun for him. Not that Kagome was fully aware of what was entertaining for Sesshomaru. Think, Kagome. What guys do you know that might want to come. She thought for a moment and realized that she didn't really know that many guys. She looked across the table. Sota is a guy. "Hey Sota, what are you-" Sota stood up from the table.
"Thank you for the meal," he brought his dishes to the sink.
"Sota, wait! Mom's going to be gone a few days and Sesshomaru wants to do some fun things."
"Oh, I know. Sesshomaru told me that too. Maybe not exactly in that way, though."
Sesshomaru heard stirring down stairs. There were many sounds, strange musical sounds, clicking, and clanging sounds. He left the guest room and descended the stairs to see the colorful box from the day before on with a different screen with a logo 'Fighting Bros 2'. Sota exited the kitchen with a bowl of cereal and a spoon in his mouth.
"Mmm hmm Sesshmmru" Sota mumbled. The demon merely raised a thin brow without a word. Sota pulled the spoon out of his mouth. "Hey Sesshomaru. Have you seen my mom? Normally she'd have breakfast started by now."
"She is not here."
"Well I can see that. Do you know where she went?" Sesshomaru nodded.
"Howai."
"Ho…Howai? Where is-" Sota remembered his grandfather. "Oh, Hawaii? Did she got to see gramps?" Sesshomaru nodded. "Alright then... Do you know how long she's gonna be gone?"
"Perhaps a few days."
"Uh. Right…" Sota moved to the floor in front of the television and set his cereal bowl on table next to him. He turned to Sesshomaru to say something and he was gone. Sota finished his breakfast and played his video game for a couple hours. Noticing that Kagome still wasn't up he looked around the room and turned back to see Sesshomaru sitting behind him on the couch. He hadn't noticed him leave or come in to the room let alone sit behind him.
"Hey, Sesshomaru. Kagome's not up yet. Were you not planning on, yah know, doing stuff while you're here?" Sesshomaru nodded. "So you going somewhere?" Sesshomaru nodded.
"Hn."
"Uh. Heh heh." Sota laughed nervously. "Okay, then." Sota continued to play his game until Kagome woke up and joined them.
"Oh! So would you like to go?"
"Well, not really. I kind of already made plans to stay at Satoru's place for a while. Maybe until mom comes back. Besides Hitomi and I have a couple dates set up. Speaking of which, I've gotta pack." Sota clapped his hands together and bowed. "Sorry." Sota left and went up the stairs to his room to pack.
"Well, I guess I've got to get this together. Boys or no boys. Let's see." Kagome picked up the house phone and began to go down the list of names she'd written down to invite to Sesshomaru's trips.
"Alright, thanks Ayumi. No- no that's okay. I'm sure I'll find someone. At least the three of you are coming. Yup-. Yeah-. Tomorrow at 10am. Yup- the station. Alright thanks! Bye-bye." Kagome hung up the phone a bit frustrated.
"Darn it! Really! None of them could think of any other guys to go. I guess I'll just have to think of something. But who could there possibly be?" Directly after the words left her mouth she heard a knock on her door.
"Anyone home?" A voice called from.
"Coming!" She quickly took her plates from lunch and set them in the sink. She took off the apron she'd been wearing to cook and quickly folded it and placed it on the table. She dashed over to the front door and opened it to Hojo standing in front of her with a large bag.
"Hello, Kagome." He greeted her with a charming smile.
"Oh hi, Hojo." She wasn't expecting any visitors but at least she'd bathed and changed into nice, clean clothes.
"Would you mind if I came in for a moment?" He used his hand to fan himself. "It's a bit warm out here."
"Oh, no. Not at all." She stepped aside to allow him to enter. Hojo took his shoes off at the entrance but did not go much further into the house.
"You see, I have a few remedies for you. I've heard that you're getting better and I thought I would give you some things that would prevent future illnesses and maybe stave off some of the ones you've gotten over." Hojo proceeded to pull item after item out of his backpack.
"Oh, those are some ginko nuts, lotus roots, and some fresh honey." Hojo pointed each item out.
Well that's not too weird I suppose. I could probably just eat those. As Kagome continued pulling items out of the bag she tried her hardest not to twist her face in disgust.
"Horse placenta pills, dried salamander, fresh liver, and…" Kagome started to feel a bit dizzy thinking about eating those strange things. "-a back massaging vest. Might as well keep your immune system up and your muscles relaxed."
"Wow, that sure is a lot of stuff, Hojo." She smiled as she started to gather the things together to move them. She started toward the kitchen. "How nice if you. You're such a nice guy." Then it clicked. Guy. "Say, Hojo. Would you happen to be busy any time in the next few days?" Kagome poked her head out of the kitchen doorway.
"Why, no. I don't believe I am."
"Great. What do you say we go to a few fun places. You know, to celebrate the summer and uh…me getting better." Her head disappeared back into the kitchen.
Does she mean like a date? "Of course! I would love to!" Hojo held his fist up and clenched it in victory. Yes!
"Great!" Kagome walked back out of the kitchen. Embarrassed, Hojo quickly hid his fist behind his back. "I've got Eri, Ayumi, and Yuka. Now I've just got to round up a couple more guys." Hojo almost comically fell over.
So, not a date? He felt his heart sink.
"I'm so glad Sesshomaru wont be the only guy there. Hey, if you have any guy friends you'd like to bring along please feel free to invite them too. You can tell them that there'll be a few pretty girls there if you want." She winked at him.
"Eh heh" He weakly agreed. His body felt like jelly as he began to wobble a bit unprepared for the emotional blow he'd received.
"Well thanks, Hojo. You didn't really need to do all of this for me." Kagome gestured to all of the remedies that he brought her. Some of these might actually be useful to bring to the past. Hojo quickly stiffened, stood up straight, and bowed his head a bit.
"Kagome." Hojo took one of Kagome's hands and held it with both of his close to his chest. "I am not burdened by assisting you in any way necessary to make sure you get better. How could I not give you a helping hand in your time of need? I mean we're basically going o-," A slam at the front door interrupted him.
