A/N: Welcome to the new chapter! I think we'll have two more, and the story will be finished. Anyway, hope you'll enjoy!
Naruto took deep breaths as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. There were droplets of water running down his whiskered cheeks.
He took another deep breath, and then pressed his hands over his barely noticeable baby bump. He was three months along, nearing four, and the person who deserved to know it most wasn't even aware of this tiny life's presence.
Naruto had wanted this to be a surprise for Sasuke. When he turned back from his mission, Sasuke would spent his day with Yuudai, and then pay attention to Naruto when their son went to sleep. Naruto would hold his hands, and smile at him, and tell him that he had something important to tell him.
Sasuke would get impatient as always, and then would call Naruto dobe, and tell him to say whatever he wanted. Naruto would get angry at Sasuke for ruining the mood, but then he would tell him that they were having another baby.
Sasuke would be speechless for a moment, and then would smile the smile that was only reserved for his family, and would touch Naruto's belly, and then take him in his arms. He would ask the sex of the baby, and when he learned they were having another boy, Sasuke would arrogantly tell Naruto that Uchihas always had sons.
They would argue a bit, Naruto would tell Sasuke that their second baby would look like Naruto for sure. Sasuke would smirk and say that, as long as they had Sasuke's gens, they would look like him, not like some dobe. They would argue more, and then make love slowly, because that was how Sasuke liked touching Naruto after they hadn't seen each other for a while. He would hold him gently, and love him tenderly, just the way Naruto loved…
Naruto took a shaky breath, and rubbed his cloudy eyes. He had to be strong, he had his son with him, and he had to protect him.
Taking another deep breath, Naruto emerged from the bathroom, and went to his son's side, who was sitting beside the window, and watching outside silently.
Naruto sat down beside him, and wrapped his arms around him, and placed his chin over his little shoulder.
"What are you doing, baby?"
Yuudai only shrugged, and Naruto kissed his cheek tenderly.
It had been three days since they had come Konoha, and Naruto hadn't let Yuudai out of Iruka's home. He didn't want his son leaving his side, and he was afraid that he would lose him somehow. But, it wasn't good for Yuudai, so Naruto suggested with a smile,
"Why don't we go outside and try to find a cat for your encyclopedia?"
Yuudai's face lit up immediately. "Really?"
Naruto smiled. "Yes, really! Go get ready."
Nodding with a huge smile, Yuudai run into their room, and grabbed his backpack and put his encyclopedia in it.
"I'm ready!" He came back running.
Smiling, Naruto took Yuudai's hand in his, and then they got out, locking the door with the spare key that was given to them by Iruka.
They started walking down the streets, and Naruto guided Yuudai to the places where he thought there would be cats. For the most of the day, Yuudai run after cats, and Naruto followed after him, though at a slower pace. The chakra bonds he carried had started effecting Naruto.
When Yuudai was satisfied with the paw prints he got, they headed back to Iruka's home, but they entered a convenience store first. They were already using Iruka's apartment, so Naruto wanted to buy the supplies of home, not wanting to be a burden.
They started walking through corridors, getting things in the cart which Yuudai pushed happily.
"Do you want anything?" Naruto asked after they were done.
"Juice!" Yuudai said quickly.
Smiling, Naruto nodded and got Yuudai an apple juice, knowing that it was his son's favorite.
"Let's go home, and cook dinner, okay?" Naruto asked, and Yuudai nodded.
Smiling, Naruto grabbed Yuudai from his armpits suddenly, and put him in the cart. Yuudai giggled happily as Naruto drove him quickly to the desks at the exit.
"Hello," Naruto smiled at the store owner, and froze as he realized that it was the same man who refused to give anything to Naruto years ago.
"You…" The man glared at Naruto. "What are you doing here?"
Naruto glared back. He wasn't a scared child anymore. He could deal with anything thrown against him. He threw more than needed cash on the desk, and then left with Yuudai quickly.
Feeling something was off, Yuudai squeezed Naruto's hand. Naruto looked down at his son, and then smiled at him.
"Don't worry, everything's fine," Naruto reassured his son.
Yuudai nodded, though he couldn't help but realize the looks villagers were giving them as they walked down the street. Still, he was just a child, and it was easy to distract him.
"Mommy!" His small finger pointed a stand which held all kinds of masks.
Naruto smiled. "Do you want one?"
Yuudai nodded, and quickly he chose a mask, and put it on. It was a white fox mask, with red lines adorning it.
He lifted his hands and started running around Naruto in circles. "Boo!"
Naruto gasped fakely. "Oh my, this little fox here is so scary!"
"I'm not little!" Yuudai said, trying to make his voice scary by shouting. "I am the great demon fox Kyuubi!"
Everything seemed to be happening slow motion after that. Silence descended over the street, and everybody moved away from Yuudai and Naruto. In the corner of his eye, Naruto saw some villagers picking up stones from the ground. Quickly, he dropped the plastic bags he was carrying, and took Yuudai behind him, and turned around himself, creating a barrier to protect them from the flying stones.
He had developed this in years. He had studied Hyuugas' absolute defense, but instead of putting it raw chakra, he did it with his wind, making it more secure and effective.
When Naruto stopped, he was panting quickly and sweat was dripping from his temples. He was having hard time with the baby he carried in him. But, still, he had managed to send the stones back. Unfortunately, he couldn't stop the words from being thrown at them.
"Why is the demon back?" One of the old women asked.
"And he has his spawn with him!" Somebody shouted.
"An Uchiha demon!"
"Enough!" Naruto shouted, silencing the villagers effectively. "Call me anything you want, but I won't tolerate anything towards my son," He hissed dangerously, making the villagers take a few steps backwards. "You better watch out, or the demon will come to get you…"
Quickly, Naruto threw Yuudai's mask to the side, and then picked up his son, and balanced him on his hip. With his free arm, he grabbed the carrier bags from the ground, and started walking towards Iruka's apartment quickly.
"Mommy," Yuudai called out in a shaky voice after a while. "Why they are so mean to us?"
"Because, they are bad people," Naruto said. "That's why."
Naruto was upset and furious, but he didn't let his son feel it. The child was already scared as it's. What bothered Naruto the most was that the ANBU following him did nothing to stop the villagers or protect them.
They were all alone.
"Don't you want to sleep?" Naruto asked softly, his fingers massaging his son's scalp.
"No," Yuudai murmured. "I'll wait here till daddy comes," He said, not tearing his gaze away from the window that he was sitting in front of.
Naruto sighed, and looked up as Iruka joined them, and handed Naruto a big glass of hot milk.
"Thank you Iruka-sensei," Naruto smiled at the man softly, and then handed Yuudai the glass.
He accepted it silently, and kept watching outside. Though, it was already night, people were still out, enjoying their time with their friends, or families, going to restaurants or having a few drinks. But, Yuudai didn't care about any of them. His gaze was fixed on the main road stubbornly, refusing to look away.
He handed his glass to his mother after he was done, and didn't resist as Naruto took him in his arms.
Naruto took Yuudai in a sleeping position in his arms, but he let his son face the window. He started rocking him slowly, and started singing softly,
"Come, my baby's daddy, come, come, come…"
It was a lullaby that Naruto sang to Yuu when he got restless and demanded Sasuke's presence. Yuudai kept his eyes open for a while, but he couldn't resist the urge in the end, and fell asleep snuggled up to Naruto's chest.
Naruto let out a deep breath, and kissed Yuu's forehead gently.
"I heard what happened today," Iruka said softly.
Naruto sighed, and nodded. "I don't know why they are like that," Naruto whispered. "I mean, I understand that it must have been really hard for them to lose their loved ones by a demon's attack. But, I lost my parents, as well," Naruto rubbed his eyes, and kept whispering, not wanting to wake his son up. "And on top of that, I was the one who had to bear the weight of a demon. But, nobody thinks how hard was it for me," Naruto shrugged, and wiped away his tears quickly. "Nobody cares…"
Biting his lips, Iruka hugged Naruto gently.
"Sasuke will be here soon," Naruto whispered. "And, it won't be good Iruka-sensei. We suffered too much in the past, and he won't stop till he makes Konoha feel our pain, too… To be honest, I want them to feel what I felt, learn the pain of being lonely, and ashamed because of the way you're, and –and I'm not sure if I can stop Sasuke when the time comes, I don't have enough compassion for Konoha to do so…"
"It'll be fine," Iruka said softly, caressing Naruto's back. "All will be well…"
"Thank you, Iruka-sensei," Naruto gave his former teacher a small smile. "It's best if we go to bed now."
"Yes," Iruka stood up with Naruto. "Good night."
"Good night," Smiling at him Naruto went to the guest room.
He lied on the bed with his baby son, but couldn't sleep at all.
"And then he-"
Naruto stopped suddenly as he heard the doorbell.
It was late in the afternoon, and they were on the bed. Naruto had his back against pillows, and Yuudai was leaning his back against Naruto's chest, and Naruto was holding a story book in Yuudai's lap, and reading it to him.
"Wait me a little, baby," Naruto said and left the bed, going to the door quickly. "Shikamaru?"
Shikamaru nodded at Naruto, hands in his pockets. "How are you?"
Naruto shrugged. "Fine, I guess…"
It was over a week that they were in Konoha, and Naruto had to contact with Shikamaru regularly, he was the adviser of the hokage after all.
"I'm going to barbeque with all of our friends, wanna come?" Shikamaru suggested.
"I'm… not sure," Naruto hadn't seen any other person after the incident in the market place, and he didn't want to expose his son to strangers.
"Come on, it'll be good," Shikamaru insisted.
Sighing, Naruto nodded. "Okay… Just wait a little, will you?"
"I'll be downstairs," The lazy genius nodded at Naruto and went down.
Sighing once again, Naruto changed his and Yuudai's clothes, and grabbing his bag, he went after Shikamaru.
They walked slowly, talking about useless things, but stopped suddenly, as a masked man appeared right in front of them.
"Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto blinked in shock after seeing one of his former teachers for the first time.
"Oh my, isn't this our Naruto?" Kakashi smiled under his mask. "How have you been?"
"Fine, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto smiled at the man. "You?"
"Good, good," Kakashi nodded, and then kneeled before Yuudai, who was holding Naruto's hand tightly. "Is this some kind of jutsu?" Kakashi asked. "What's up Sasuke?"
"I'm not Sasuke!" Yuudai said quickly.
Raising his visible eyebrow, Kakashi lifted his headband, revealing his sharingan, and studied Yuudai.
Yuu gasped, and tugged Naruto's hand, whispering to him, "He has an eye like daddy's!"
"Yes," Smiling, Naruto whispered back.
"Who are you then?" Kakashi asked this time.
"My name is Yuudai Uchiha, believe it!" Yuudai shouted.
"Oh my, it's Naruto in Sasuke disguise!" Kakashi gasped mockingly.
Naruto laughed softly. "He's my son, Kakashi-sensei."
"And, daddy's!" Yuudai chirped.
"And, Sasuke's," Naruto nodded with a smile.
"Seems like we have so many things to catch up," Kakashi said. "Now, if you excuse me, I'm back from a long mission, and I need to see someone at once."
"Yes," Naruto nodded. "See you later then."
"See you," Waving a hand, Kakashi disappeared.
"Why he's wearing a mask?" Yuu asked after they headed towards the restaurant.
"I wonder that, too!" Naruto smiled at his son.
Soon, they entered the restaurant, and Shikamaru guided them into a table which was suited at the corner of the place. All of Naruto's friends were there, and they all seemed really surprised seeing Naruto right before them.
"Uhmm, hello," Naruto smiled at them softly.
There were Kiba, Shino, Ino, Sai, Choji, Ten-ten, Lee, Sakura who was glaring at Naruto heatedly, Hinata and Neji and the end of the table and a child between them.
"Hmph," Kiba crossed his arms over his chest and looked away.
"Don't be so troublesome," Shikamaru sighed, and sat down.
Swallowing a lump, Naruto sat down beside him, across from Neji, and took Yuudai in his lap. "These are mommy and daddy's old friends, say hello baby."
"Hello!" Yuudai chirped. "My name is Yuudai Uchiha, it's nice meeting all of you!"
Everybody blinked and said hello back to Yuudai slowly.
"S-So," Naruto cleared his throat, and kept talking, "How have you been?"
"F-Fine, Naruto-kun," Hinata answered back to Naruto, a soft blush on her cheeks.
"I'm glad to hear that, Hinata," Naruto smiled at the shy girl and then looked at the child that sat beside her. He had long bluish hair, pale skin, and pale eyes of a Hyuuga. "Who is this handsome man?"
"H-He's mine, and Neji-san's s-son, Rintarou," Hinata said, blushing deeply. "W-We are married."
Naruto was really surprised but he didn't show it, instead he just smiled. "Congratulations!" Then, he turned to Yuudai, and smiled at him. "Look, Yucchan, a friend for you! Why don't you greet him?"
Yuudai nodded, and smiled at the unresponsive boy across from him. "Hello, my name is Yuudai Uchiha! I'm going to be the greatest ninja ever! How about you?"
When he got no response, Yuudai was disappointed a little, but he tried again. "How old are you? I'm five!"
"He's f-five, too," Hinata supplied for her son.
"Ughh," Yuudai looked at Naruto, who encouraged him to go on with a smile. "Do you have any siblings?"
"N-No, h-he doesn't," Again, Hinata spoke for the child.
"See, I'm going to be a big brother soon!" Yuudai chirped and touched Naruto's baby bump. "Mommy's carrying my brother here! I hope I can be a good big brother like my uncle!"
Everybody was stunned after hearing that.
"You're pregnant?" Sakura asked, venom dripping from her mouth.
Naruto hadn't wanted to reveal his pregnancy, but then again, he hadn't warned Yuudai about it, so he nodded softly.
"How is this even possible?" Neji spoke for the first time, his byakugan activated, and locked on Naruto's abdomen.
"Daddy says mommy is his miracle, and he can do anything if he wants!" Yuudai said happily and then talked to Rintarou again, "Does your mommy carry your brother inside, too?"
When he got no response, Yuudai looked at Naruto. "He doesn't know how to talk!"
Naruto blinked. "Maybe… We should apologize if we hurt his feelings."
"My son knows how to talk," Neji hissed. "He just doesn't talk to traitors, or their brat."
Naruto was taken aback by Neji's coldness, and was even more shocked when Rintarou spoke for the first time,
"Where is your father?"
Yuudai took a sharp breath, but he had no answer to that question. "I don't know…"
"He must have abandoned you, that's the way of the traitors," Rintarou said easily, having learned them from his father.
The next thing, Naruto hadn't expected. A sob left his son's lips and he started crying loudly.
"Oh, my love," Naruto took his son his arms quickly, and started rocking his son, pushing back his own tears.
"I w-want daddy!" Yuudai spoke hardly. "W-Where is d-daddy? Did h-he forget Y-Yuudai?"
"Look at me, baby," Naruto took Yuu's face in his hands, and wiped away his precious tears with his thumbs. "Never, daddy would never forget Yuudai! He loves Yuudai the most."
"W-Where is h-he?" Yuu asked this time.
"He's coming to get us," Naruto assured his son. "He'll take us, and we'll turn back home together… Do you want me to tell you how things are going?"
Yuudai nodded, his teary eyes fixed on Naruto's face.
"You know that daddy left for an important mission before we went to the festival, right?" Naruto asked, and Yuudai nodded. "I told Uncle Sui that we were leaving for a week, so when we didn't turn back after a week, our villagers must have worried, and started looking for us."
"B-But, how will t-they know we're here?" Yuudai asked, sniffling.
"I took one of Konoha ninja's headband, and left it behind along with mine," Naruto said, pointing at his neck where he wore his headband usually. "After they found them, they must have known that we're taken here. And then, immediately, they must have sent a messenger bird to daddy. After hearing the news, daddy must have dropped his mission and took his ninjas with him to come to take us back," Naruto explained slowly.
"He'll be here soon?" Yuudai asked hopefully.
"Yes, he'll," Naruto smiled at his baby son. "You do know how fast daddy is!"
"Yes, he is!" Yuudai agreed happily.,
"Yes," Naruto rubbed his son's back. "So, don't cry, or your daddy will be upset."
Yuudai nodded quickly, and then started caressing Naruto's whisker-like lines, ignoring the rest of the table.
Naruto kissed his forehead softly. "Do you remember what daddy tells you before leaving for missions?"
Yuudai nodded. "He tells me he doesn't want to leave us alone, but he has to. And, he also says that hearts are in lightning speed, so actually there is no distance between us. He always comes back for us…"
"That's so true, baby," Naruto caressed his son's dark hair and then touched his legs, and frowned deeply. "You're cold."
He took of Yuudai's haori from his bag, and helped him to wear it.
"Now, you should eat something," Naruto said.
Yuudai shook his head, and laid his head over Naruto's heart. "I don't wanna eat."
"But, I know that you're hungry," Naruto said, caressing Yuu's chubby cheek with a hand.
"No," Yuudai mumbled, and snuggled deeper into Naruto's chest.
"How about I feed you?" Naruto suggested with a soft smile.
After a moment of hesitation, Yuudai nodded slowly.
"Okay," Naruto refused any contact with the rest of the table after that, and only focused on filling his son's stomach.
Naruto put the meats in his plate on the grill in front of him, and waited for a while for them to get ready. When they were grilled the way Yuu liked, he took one with his chopsticks, and blew over it. He touched the meat with his lips, and when he was sure that it wouldn't burn his son's mouth, he fed Yuudai with it. He kept repeating the process, till Yuudai said he didn't want to eat anymore.
Naruto took a handkerchief, and cleaned his son's mouth. "Let's go back now, okay?"
Yuudai nodded, and stood up, Naruto following after him.
"Thanks for inviting us, Shikamaru," Naruto nodded to the genius. "And…" He talked to his so-called friends without looking at their faces. "It's easy to call people traitors. But, have you ever tried to think how it was for Sasuke? What would you do if your whole clan was murdered by the village you swore to protect and served? Have you ever thought how it was for me? Have you ever imagined how would it feel to carry the burden of a demon, and then blamed and shunned for it? I don't think you have… I don't think you would ever do. You keep living in your perfect village, and we'll go to ours, hopefully, we won't ever have to see each other again. Good night."
Naruto held Yuudai's hand and walked to the exit. He paid for the whole table, and then left without looking back.
Naruto took a deep breath, cool night air filling his lungs, and then held Yuudai's hand, guiding them back to Iruka's apartment. They were both silent as they walked, an uneasy feeling settled over them.
"I love you," Yuudai blurted out suddenly. "You're the best mommy ever!"
Naruto stopped and looked at his son. This time he couldn't help his tears as he dropped down onto his knees. "I love you, too," He hugged his son tightly. "You're the best son I could have asked for…"
They stood there in the middle of the road holding onto each other for a while. When they heard fireworks exploding, they looked up, and Yuudai smiled happily, pointing at them. Naruto smiled, too, and started following after his son, as Yuudai run and sometimes jumped to catch the colorful fireworks.
"I can't get them!" Yuudai complained, making Naruto laugh.
However, his laughter died in his throat as Yuudai bumped into a villager hardly, making him stumble backwards.
"S-Sorry," Yuudai mumbled, but it seemed it wasn't enough because the man pushed the child back, making him fall on his butt harshly.
"What are you doing?" Naruto shouted, as he helped his son to get up. "He didn't do it on purpose!"
"He attacked me!" The man shouted as loud as he could. "The demon attacked me!"
"Wh-What are you saying?" Naruto asked unbelievingly, but he could see villagers gathering around them, and none of them looked friendly.
"Go away!" Somebody shouted. "You're unwanted!"
"We have to protect our children," A woman shouted.
With a sudden decision, Naruto picked Yuudai up, and started running as fast as he could. Though, he couldn't go far. The word of the demon attacking the villagers spread like wind, and Naruto stopped breathing hardly as they circled around him. He hid Yuudai behind his back, and took a defensive position. It wasn't long before stones, woods, and shoes, anything the villagers could land their hands on started flying towards them.
Naruto wanted to send them back, but he didn't have any chakra and finally, the bonds he carried started affecting him to the point where even standing was a problem. So, he did the only thing he could think of, and dropped to his knees. He took Yuudai in his arms, and curled around him, and closed his eyes tightly.
He hissed as he felt the heavy materials beating his back, but he only focused on protecting Yuudai.
He took a deep breath as it stopped, so he looked at his son, and checked him quickly. He took a deep breath as he saw no injuries on his son.
"Are you alright?" He asked and Yuudai nodded quickly.
Naruto stood up on his shaky feet, and was shocked to see ninja's in the crowd. Nobody tried to help them. Tears filled his eyes, as he realized that it might be the end of his life here. He actually didn't mind dying, but his son had done nothing to deserve this. He was so young...
"I-I am the demon," Naruto said. "K-Kill me, let my son go…"
Naruto blinked as a familiar face stepped in front of the crowd. "Ibiki?"
There was no mistake with the scar on his face and his big built.
"Ibiki you have to help me!" Naruto shouted. "They're accusing me of things I haven't done!"
Naruto wanted to jump in joy as Ibiki approached him quickly, but the next second a harsh slap sent him flying to the ground.
"M-Mommy!" Yuudai run to Naruto's side who couldn't get up anymore.
When Yuudai saw Ibiki approaching to them again, he did the only thing he could think of and his small hands formed hand seals quickly.
"Fireball jutsu!"
His father had showed him how to do it before he left, but this was Yuudai's first time trying it. Still, it worked, and the flames managed to push Ibiki and the crowd away from them.
Naruto was panting heavily and his hands were on his stomach when Tsunade appeared, pushing the crowd out of her way.
"What's happening here?" She shouted loudly.
The villagers started to talk at the same time, asking why the demon was back, and wanting Naruto and his spawn to be executed.
"They are being kept, because we're waiting to get another rough ninja," Tsunade explained loudly, her eyes on Naruto.
"I can make him talk in no time," Ibiki said confidently.
The crowd agreed with him, and started advancing on Naruto and Yuudai again, not listening to Tsunade's protests.
Suddenly, black flames, that nobody knew where they came from, circled around Naruto and Yuudai, and stopped the villagers where they were. Some of them touched the flames accidently, and they tried to extinguish them, but nothing they did worked, and they died screaming.
An absolute silence took over the village, and nobody dared to speak.
Only except one happy Uchiha child.
"Daddy!"
