Episode 13

Scene One

"If you want to save her then you will do as I ask son."

Nathan looked at the bed and saw his half-sister Marty tied to the bed. She was naked and had bruises around her wrists and he knew that she had been trying her best to break free of her restraints. He looked back at his father who had a gun pointed at her. She was half conscious and the glassy, vacant look in her eyes made it obvious that she had been drugged.

"I…I can't. I'm not like you, please just put down the gun and let her go," Nathan pleaded as he looked into his father's eyes."

"You're more like me than you know son. I've spent half of my life trying to protect your sister. You would also do anything to save her. I can see the obsession with protecting her in your eyes. I can see the guilt that you feel for deserting her when she needed you most. That's how I know that you're going to do as I ask to save her," he explained as he looked at him with a smile that made Nathan cringe.

"You've spent most of your entire life trying to perfect her, make her indestructible. She's your greatest accomplishment…so why would you give up now? Why would you hurt her like this? Why would you threaten to kill her?" Nathan asked hoping that he could reason with his father.

"I have nothing left now. I've spent millions trying to find a cure that would guarantee that I never lost her and for what? She destroyed everything that I've been working for in that explosion and she needs to pay for that. Do as I say son and maybe…just maybe you can save her, but me…there is no salvation anymore."

Nathan looked at Marty and thought about his options. His father had a bomb strapped to his chest and a gun in his hand…if he lunged at him then they would all be dead. Marty's only hope for survival was if he hurt her like his father was asking him to.

"Don't do it Nathan. My life isn't worth your soul and it's an empty promise anyways. He's lost everything and he's going to kill me and he's going to kill himself. Please just leave and save yourself," Marty pleaded with him as tears streamed from her eyes.

"Do you promise that you will let her go?" Nathan asked as he looked at his father.

"If you rape her then I will let the both of you go before I kill myself otherwise I'll kill her in front of you," he threatened.

"He's lying," Marty whispered.

"I'm sorry Marty, but I can't watch you die," Nathan stated as he removed his pants.

Afterwards, he felt sick and disgusted with himself. Marty had been right he had lost his soul, but it would all be worth it once his father let them both go like he had promised.

"See son, I told you that you were exactly like me," he said as he raised the gun and a loud noise rang throughout the room.

"Marty!" Nathan screamed as he saw the blood pouring out of her stomach as she closed her eyes. "What did you do? I did as you asked, why didn't you let her go?"

"Marty was right….without her I have nothing left," his father stated as he pointed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

Nathan sat up in his bed and looked at the clock. It was seven a.m. and he had to get up for work. He wiped the tears from his eyes and tried to shake the haunting memory that had haunted him for the last 28 years. He picked up his phone and dialed her number. He didn't know if she was still in jail, but he had to hear her voice.

"Hello," he heard her sweet, angelic voice answer.

He hung up the phone feeling reassured that she was still alive. There was still time to save her…he couldn't let everything that he had done be for nothing.

Scene Two

"What's wrong Kevin?" Natalie asked as she walked into the Buenos Dias Café and saw him having breakfast with Jessica.

"Rachel's back in town," Kevin stated as he took a sip of his coffee.

"Well, isn't that a good thing. I know how much you've always cared about her, maybe the two of you could finally make it work this time," Natalie encouraged.

"Natalie, I don't think it's as simple as that," Jessica interrupted.

"Why not?" Natalie asked.

"Because she had my children and didn't tell me about it for twenty years," Kevin explained.

"What?" Natalie gasped. "I thought that she loved you, how could she keep your kids from you?" Natalie asked.

"It's a long story and Rachel had her reasons."

"What happened to your kids?" Natalie asked.

"Rachel was told that they died at birth, but she got a phone call a few days ago from somebody claiming that her son is alive and living somewhere in Llanview. Natalie, I know that you're not a reporter but you're a really good investigator…I need your help and Jessica's help to investigate Rachel's doctor Nathan Carson," Kevin explained.

'Of course Kevin, Natalie and I will help you find out what happened to your kids," Jessica stated as she placed her hand over Kevin's.

Scene Three

Dani got dressed and grabbed the fliers that she had printed up. She needed to forget Matthew and the best way to do that was to distract herself with fun and plenty of alcohol. She went over to the fraternity's at Llanview University and posted the flyer on the bulletin board.

"Hey Dani, you throwing a party tonight?" Justin asked as he walked down the stairs of the Kapha Alpha Delta house and saw her posting her flyer.

"Yea, so spread the word. I'm looking for a wild night of fun," Dani stated as she handed him a flyer.

"I'll be there and I'll bring plenty of my brothers as well," Justin stated as he looked her up and down.

Scene Four

"Rachel, what a surprise. I didn't know that you were coming home to Llanview," Nora exclaimed when she opened her front door and saw her eldest daughter standing before her. "What's wrong?" she asked as she noticed the expression of worry clouding her daughter's beautiful face.

"I've made such a mess of things and I need yours and Bo's help," Rachel stated.

"Come on in and tell us all about it," Nora stated as she opened up her door.

"Rachel, sit down and talk to us," Bo encouraged her as he watched her fidgeting with her hands. "Has somebody hurt you?" he asked.

"Yes, no…I don't know," Rachel stuttered as she sat down.

"Just take a deep breath and start at the beginning," Nora said as she sat by her daughter's side.

Scene Five

Tomas slipped the package under Tea's door and began to walk away when he heard Victor and Tea approaching.

"Victor, will you stop worrying about Marty. I'm sure that she can get home fine."

"She was upset and I should have stayed with her."

"She wanted to be alone, besides I want to spend some quality time with you now that you've come back home to me. I've missed you so much since you went away. Didn't you miss me? Tomas!" Tea exclaimed as they turned the corner and saw her brother standing in front of their front door.

"What are you doing here?" Victor asked as he looked at Tomas suspiciously.

"I came by to see my sister," Tomas stated as he glared at Victor.

"You're always welcome," Tea stated as she hugged him.

"It looks like you've got a package," Victor stated as he opened the front door and saw the package waiting for them.

"I'll open it later, right now I want to spend some time with my brother," Tea stated.

"Have fun, I'm going to go for a drive," Victor said as he kissed Tea's cheek and walked out the front door.

Scene Six

"Blair, come on open the door," Todd demanded as he pounded on their bedroom door.

"Just a second," Blair shouted as she looked at Patrick. What were they going to do…she would lose Todd if he ever found out that she had slept with Patrick. "Hide somewhere," she whispered as she grabbed her bathrobe and wrapped it around herself.

Patrick grabbed all of his clothes and hid under the bed as Blair sprayed the room with air freshener. She pulled the covers down onto the floor so that Todd wouldn't see Patrick and then she opened up the door.

"What took so long and why was the door locked?" Todd asked as he walked into the room and looked around.

"Sorry Todd, I was just about to take a bath…why don't you join me?" Blair asked.

"I don't know…I'm really tired. I had a hard time sleeping last night." Todd said as he sat down on the chair and began to take off his shoes.

"Please Todd, a bath will help you to relax….besides you owe me. It was your first night back home and you spent it in jail instead of spending it with me. You should have been home, in bed with me instead of playing Marty's hero," Blair ranted.

"That's enough Blair, I'm home now. Let's go take the bath and then we can take a nap together," Todd stated as he walked into the bathroom.

Patrick waited until he heard the bathroom door shut and then he slinked out from underneath Blair's bed…that had been a close call, too close. He quickly got dressed and then crept out of the bedroom.

Scene Seven

Marty hung up her phone and removed her shoes to walk barefoot in the snow. "Damnit," she swore under her breath as she watched the hard packed snow quickly turn into a puddle beneath her. She felt hot and cold all at the same time and knew that the fever had returned. She needed to cool her body down before it was too late.

She had to act fast…she could see pink and blue elephants dancing in the air around her, which meant that her temperature was high enough to make her delusional. She ran into her house and began to strip as she let the tub fill with cold water. She grabbed the ice trays from her freezer and dropped them into the water.

"Forget the bath…come and play with me Marty," she heard her sister's voice pleading with her as a little girl with brown eyes and dark hair appeared before her.

"Sam….I can't. Nathan will hurt Cole and Hope if I die," Marty said as she climbed into the tub.

"You can't live on borrowed time forever Marty. The fire took me and it will take you too as long as you hold it in. Of course…if you wanted to live then you could release the rage and let the fire out," Sam encouraged as she smiled.

"I…I can't, not after I killed you with it," Marty whispered as she tried to focus on slowing her heart beat down.

"If you won't release your fire then it will consume you," he said as he appeared in the room.

"Dad? You're not real…you shot yourself."

"I know but I missed you and now I've come back to claim you so that we can be together forever," he taunted.

"Go back to hell where you belong," she screamed.

"I'll go back to hell, but I'm taking you with me," he said as he grabbed her hand.

Marty closed her eyes as she felt her heart beat growing weaker and weaker. She was all out of time, death had finally come to claim her.
