Chapter 13

PIPER

My friends and I are about to play some serious volleyball. Well for me it isn't that much serious but to the guys it is. The loser team won't eat cake for a month. Jason and Percy exploded after we decided that dare. Especially Percy since his mom sent a chocolate cake with blue icing as a vacation gift. If Jason and I won, the cake would be ours.

"I can't choose which team I'd be! Both of you are my favorites!" Lacy complained

"Uhhh…..what now" I asked

"Arggh why does it have to be both of my favorites! Percabeth or Jasper? I can't choose! Gah!" she continues

"Are you speaking code words or something?" I asked

"Oh dear cousin, how come we're not alike? Percabeth are Percy and Annabeth's names combined and Jasper are yours and Jason's" she explained

"I agree about the Percabeth one but never speak of the Jasper thing or else" I threatened

"But I don't like Jeyna! They don't look cute. You and Jason would" she said

"We won't! Trash the Jasper thing and just continue to like Jey-whatever" I said, walking to the court which is at my backyard

"It's Jeyna!" I hear Lacy shout

"Whatever!" I shout back

I meet Jason at the court and he smiled when he saw me I raised an eyebrow but smiled back anyway. This good mood only comes once in a while.

"What are you and Lacy arguing about?" he asked

"I was just stopping her from combining our names and cheering us as a couple. Told her to like you and Reyna" I said

I accepted it. I accepted what I'll always be to him.

"Why? We got a fan!" he said

"Shut up. She even has a name for us, Jasper, I told him to shut up and just cheer for Jeyna" I said

"And that's for Reyna and I?" he asked and I nod though he doesn't sound happy about it.

"We gotta win Annabeth you hear me? That cake belongs to me!" I could hear Percy shout and I chuckle

"It'll be ours!" I yell teasingly

"My precious my precious!" Percy chants

We start the game and Percy is really determined. He cares for the cake a lot. Almost every he passes the ball. Although of course being the idiot he is half the time he's also running around the court like a crazed dude chanting 'It shall be mine! It shall be mine!'

He's a special dude really.

We decided to take a break except Percy is a little hesitant because he's still running the court.

"Don't get your hopes up dude. You won't get a taste of mommy's specialty cake it's my precious" he said and Jason and I burst out into laughing fits.

"I apologize for his behavior" Annabeth said "He really wants that cake"

"I understand" I nod "But he has problems"

"I know. But that's what makes him awesome" she said with a smile.

I suddenly felt envious of Annabeth. I want what she has. I want someone who is with me and I want to be happy and smile like her. She looks so complete and happy when she's with Percy. I want what those two have.

But unfortunately my luck didn't turn out.

Our talking didn't continue longer because Percy whined

"Okay okay cut the chitchat something special is waiting for me" he commanded seriously. Wait when did Percy become serious?

"Don't you mean for us?" Jason coolly asked as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

I can't help but stare at his wrapped arm

"Excuse me but what do you mean by that Grace?" Percy asked

"I mean that we'll totally win that cake" Jason said, although I know he's just kidding to annoy Percy

"Uh no you won't it's mine!" he said

"Whatever you say Jackson" he waves off

"Hmmph" Percy huffed

We walk past Lacy and I can feel her elbow me and cough. I mean Jason still didn't remove his arm around me….

"Oh sorry about that" Jason said, realizing what he did

"Oh n-n-no its-its fine" I said quicker than I meant to.

"Hmm…wait" Jason said scratching his skin

"What?" I asked

He leaned in a bit closer and I immediately pushed him back. My cheeks were flaming horses and I found myself very flustered.

"That seemed to make it worse. Are you okay Pipes? You seem red when I wrapped my arm around you and you seemed redder now" he said worriedly

"I'm fine!" I said quickly again

"If you say so" he gives in but his eyes are narrowed

Thank goodness and he was too dense to figure out why I was flustered. If he wasn't actually an actual dimwit then I don't know what I would do.

Okay so this time I thank his dimwittedness for saving me

JASON

I don't know what's wrong with Piper. She's too red. Maybe sunburn? I don't know I'm not a doctor.

"Are you sure you're okay again?" I ask

"Yes! Stop bugging me. Go back to teasing Percy again or whatever" she said

"I'm gonna beat you Jackson!" I yell

"Shut up!" he said

The boy's really into the game. I laughed so hard when I knew he's practicing even now. He seemed so intent on saving his cake.

"It's Piper. She told me to tease you" I said

"Don't drag me into this!" she said

"You told me to go back to teasing Percy so I did" I said

"Yeah but that didn't mean you had to drag me" she said her eyes widening and she put her hands on her hips. It looks cute actually. Like threatening kind of cute. I guess that's my advantage of being taller.

"Whoops" I said but not really meaning it.

"Dimwit" I hear her mumble

"I'm sorry did you just call me a dimwit?" I asked

"Yes" she said

"I am not a dimwit" I said

"Yes you are" she said as she ruffled my hair "Jason the Dimwit!"

"Take that back" I said threateningly

"No" she shook her head

"Take that back" I said again rising up to my feet because we're sitting at the bench

"No, no and no" she said laughing and she starts running

I chase after her. She was fast and she improved. At school she was one of the slowest but after I forced her to actually get some exercise and taught her some tips she actually got faster.

I was close to catching and when I'm about to tackle her I feel the ball hit me in the head.

It's not that painful really. But the effects were, my head is spinning and I see black spots on my vision. I can feel myself being sat down on the bench

"Jason? Jason? Jason! Are you okay?" I could hear Piper's worried voice but her voice sounds distant, far away until it's nothing.

I found myself standing on the grass and in a suit. What now?

But the next thing I saw totally blew me away. I saw Piper standing next to me in a dress. And she looks incredible. She smiled shyly and I knew that because she hates what she was wearing.

And as if some weird force dragged me towards her and suddenly we're at our first position for the dance and the music starts playing

"Dang I really hate what I'm wearing" she said. I don't if this is a dream or something or a blackout effect or what.

"No worries you look great" I said as we dance

"It's Lacy who made this. I never knew I'd look this girly I hate it" she said and I laughed.

I don't why but I feel myself getting ready for my nerve to say something.

"Hey Piper" I said as we keep dancing

"Yes?" she asked

"I have to tell you something" I said

"W-what's that?" she said as she looked at me in the eye

"I like you. A lot."

"I really liked you a lot too" a different voice said.

That woke me up completely and opened my eyes. I saw….Reyna smiling at me.

"Wh-wh-when did you get here? I asked shakily

"I came back early because I really missed you. This is supposed to be a surprise sooo…surprise!" she said

I know I'm supposed to feel happy and everything but instead I don't feel anything. I just give Reyna a smile and sneak a look at Piper. I saw that she's staring at me with a combined expression of worried and confused.

"Let's go do some catching up?" Reyna offered

"O-okay" I said

"I'm really sorry Jason! I didn't mean it" Percy said

"Hey no prob, man" I said

"You can have my cake if you want" he said

"Nah it's yours. I'm just teasing you" I said

"Still bros?" he asked

"Still bros" I said

"Well you better go with your girl" he said

I don't think I feel happy with my girl being here anymore

PIPER

I pack the rest of my stuff up and wait for Annabeth.

"So the girlfriend's back" she said "You'd better know your place and keep a straight face" she pats my head

"I know. But have you heard what Jason said when he blacked out?" I asked

"What? The 'I like you a lot' thing?"

"Yeah"

"No doubt he meant it for Reyna" she said

"But I was the one in front of him when he said that. Reyna just heard what he said and swooped in" I said

"It's obviously for Reyna"

"You think?" I asked

"I don't just think. I know" she said

But I really got a feeling that instead of Reyna what Jason meant to say isn't for her but for me.

AN: I don't which is interesting for you guys. The dream thing or Reyna's back. But I did promise you that something interesting will happen right. Something did ;)
