A nervous heart pounds against sore ribs while her temples pulse painfully. Slightly bloodshot eyes close as she shields her face from the harsh wind by resting a tender cheek on the back of his cold suit. There was a small hint of his cologne that still lingered along with the smell of sweat and dust.
"How much farther?" Jinx yelled over the rush. Kid Flash turned his head slightly to better hear her.
"What was that?" He shouted back. She would have rolled her eyes if they were open.
"HOW MUCH FARTHER!"
"Sorry, about ten minutes out! I don't think we'll make this party on time!" She chuckled softly to herself. Of course he would say something like that. But deep down, she felt his anxiety. It wasn't like it was subtle, especially when he tried to convince her to let him leave her somewhere "safe". They stood outside the large door to the hidden base as Jinx, with a stern face, had simply shook her head, sending a small shock of pain through the front of her brain.
"You know that there won't be a safe place in the world for anybody if the Brotherhood should win this battle, Wally."
"Besides," she continued with a smile. "You need me to be there if shit hits the fan."
As miserable as that made Kid Flash feel, he just simple returned the smile with a small since of pride that his quips had been rubbing off on her. It was apparent that there was nothing he could do to stop her.
Pov: Kid Flash
Her arms tightened around my stomach every couple of miles. At one point, I even thought she was falling asleep when I felt her head resting on my back. I couldn't help but grin a little. High speeds sure didn't bother my girl.
But my smirk was short-lived. For it vanished quite quickly once the screen of the gps map system of my bike began to flash bright green. I let up on the throttle and we slowly began to loose speed. We were less than five minutes out and gaining ground fast. Finally as the speedometer reached down into the fifties, I felt Jinx's head left up from my back. Two minutes later, I was putting on the brakes.
We had only been still for a few seconds when she asked, "Did you hear that?"
I didn't answer, but instead strained my ears to possible hear what she had. After a minute, the ground suddenly began to rumble beneath the wheels of my bike as the echoes of bowl quaking explosions could be heard in the distance. Yeah, the party had defiantly begun.
Sorry about any typos I missed, kind of tired. Better late than never, right?
I've had a lot of stuff going on the past year and a half. I am a senior this year, and I am also currently looking at getting a few of my manuscripts copyrighted and published. I am throwing fanfiction back into one of my creative outlets again to help keep writing fresh for me.
