I was awoken by Jack shouting something about the devil on deck. I quickly got up and dressed before joining the men on deck as they scurried to comply to their captain's orders. Jack was wrapping a cloth around his hand and seeming to hide behind the mast.

"Do we have a heading?" Gibbs asked him. Jack turned to him and screamed slightly.

"Run. Land," Jack told him before hiding once more behind the mast. I shared a confused look with Gibbs. Gibbs moved to the other side of the mast and Jack peaked up before screaming again.

"Which port?" Gibbs asked him.

"Didn't say port," Jack reminded him. "I said land. Any land." Barbosa's monkey swooped down and grabbed Jack's hat from his head. Jack the monkey screamed at Jack, who hissed at him, before dropping the hat into the ocean.

"Jack's hat!" Gibbs shouted and the entire crew, myself included, looked to see the hat floating away from us. "Bring her around!"

"No, no, leave it," Jack ordered and we all looked at him confused. "Run." Gibbs looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders at him before he turned to the crew.

"Back to your stations, the lot of ya!" Gibbs ordered the crew and they stepped to it. Gibbs and I made our way to Jack, who was hiding under the stairs with his back to the windows of our cabin.

"Jack?" I called to him but he shushed me.

"For the love of mother and child, Jack. What's coming after us?" Gibbs asked him.

"Nothing," Jack lied and I gave him a look.

"Back to your station," I told Gibbs staring at Jack. "Get us to the closest piece of land you can find. Hopefully, that will put our captain in his right mind again."

Months later I stared at the brunette who was agitated with where he was.

"Why would he do this to us?" Will asked us as we hung over a large river. There were two cages made of the bones of the crew before Jack managed to save us thirteen. They'd tried putting us evenly in the two cages, but with an uneven number, it made it difficult. They tossed Will into our cage making the numbers eight and six. "If Jack is the chief..."

"Aye, the Pellegostas made Jack their chief, but he only remains chief as long as he acts like a chief," Gibbs told him.

"By locking us all away in these cages," I added.

"So he had no choice," Will said, finally seeing the bigger picture. "He's a captive, then, as much as the rest of us."

"Worse, as it turns out," Gibbs told him and Will tossed him a confused look.

"The Pellegostas think Jack is one of their heathen gods in human form," I told him leaning on the cage next to him so he was between Gibbs and I. "They plan to release their god from his human prison." Will looked between us confused before Cotton grabbed Gibbs hand and bit his fingers. Gibbs yelled before taking his hand back from Cotton. "They'll burn him alive then eat him. Then we'll be next."

"Where's the rest of the crew?" Will asked and I looked at the bones we were leaning on.

"These cages we're in," Gibbs started. "weren't built till after we got here." Will quickly removed his hands from the bones and started at his hand before placing it back on them. "The feast is about to begin. Jack's life will end when the drums stop."

"Well, we can't just sit here and wait then, can we?" Will asked us looking at the rocky mountain in front of us.

"We have enough people now," I noted and he turned to me with a smile. "Welcome back, Mr. Turner."

We all threw our weight into the cages, making them swing to the cliffside. We were getting closer and closer, yelling as we went. Why we yelled, no idea, but whoever said life was smart hadn't lived ours. We'd grabbed onto the vines before they ripped away from the rocks as we were pulled away by gravity. We swung once more before finally getting a firm grip on thick, sturdy vines.

"Put your legs through, starts to climb!" Gibbs ordered and we did just that. Climbing the cliff as quickly and carefully as possible.

"Come on, men!" Will shouted. "It'll take all of us to crew the Black Pearl!"

"Actually, you wouldn't need everyone! About six would do!" Everyone stopped climbing and stared at the people in the cage next to them, as though realizing that what had started out as a way to save everyone, was now a race. "Oh, dear."

"Hurry!"
