Author's Note == Proceed to disappoint everyone with the fact there's still no eff'n update.

(I only read over this once before posting so I apologize beforehand if any of this sounds like total nonsense.)

Hey all.

Ash here. Aka LaFTA, aka the lazy jerk who hasn't updated this in four years even after he promised up and down that he would.

First off allow me to apologize. It was sort of a dick move on my part to drop off the face of the earth and give no explanation as to why this wasn't continued. At least no explanation here, the place where people actually checked for said updates. I did bitch about this particular fanfic and how I meant to get back to it quite a lot on my tumblr.

Also congrazzles to the people who managed to hunt my tumblr down before I even linked my fanfic profile to it—you guys are sleuthing legends. I'm serious. You guys are hella impressive.

Back to the point.

Reason For My Hiatus:

I've grown a lot in the four years I've been absent. I wrote the majority of what's posted here while I was a freshman in highschool. I am now finishing my freshman year of college. The longer I had put off updating, the larger I found the gap between what my writing is now and what it was then. From little things such as preferred perspective to larger stuff like realizing I wanted to take the story an entirely different direction, something that is insanely hard to remedy after being twelve chapters deep in a project.

Multiple times I tried to come up with a chapter where I could A) set the story in the direction I now wanted it to go B) shifted perspective and C) achieve both without it sounding clunky or forced. Needless to say, I was never able to do it.

This left two options; either I go back and rewrite the existing material or drop the project.

I decided I still wanted to explore the possibilities of this piece: so I'm going back and revamping this bitch. How long will that take? Not a clue. I hope the revisions will take no longer than a month or two but I have since learned better than to make any promises. I'm awful with deadlines and three quarters of the time I fail to uphold them.

Broken Chains Redux: coming sometime in the future.

So what about this draft? What will happen to it?

I'm not taking it down. Even though I don't consider it to be the alpha draft any longer (consider it a dead timeline) I don't have the heart to take it down seeing as people to this day continue to message me about this piece, asking what plans I have for it and other awesome words of support. You guys liked this enough to hang with me for this long, and it warms my heart to know that. So I will leave it be.

The Redux will be posted on here, tumblr and my AO3.

As for my plans concerning said Redux: the main concept and story line will remain the same. Break will still be the merry blind chain that he is, Sharon will be his contracter, Emily will continue to be a little shit. I will, however, be allotting more attention to Break's relationship with The Will as well as Cheshire as well as doing a lot more planning and character development with other minor characters. When I wrote the current draft, I didn't have clearest idea of where I was going with it and sort of just wrote off the cusp—something I want to remedy now that I've had time to review the manga and build the world a little more.

For any more updates, keep an eye on my profile page. I plan to keep an exhaustive log of my writing exploits there and any more news concerning the Redux will be posted there when it occurs.
