*sigh* I'm back to another chapter. I know you guys are excited to know what the parents' reaction will be.
Well, I'll also be revealing something else this chapter.
So, enjoy it right now. I think you'll like the end of this chapter.
This was the most day Ethan was nervous at. Sure, he battled monsters and defeated creatures, but when he did, he knew what he was doing. But telling his parents about all of this, he wasn't sure what was going to happen.
That morning, he called his friends and girlfriend to tell them that he was telling his parents. All of them thought he was crazy until he told them the reason he was doing so. Erica couldn't come because she had to visit her grandparents. Family came before friends after all. Rory couldn't also because he had detention for pulling one of his 'Pranksy' tricks on a student. Benny and Sarah could thankfully be present to support and help him with this.
Before night came, everything was awkward for him. Every time he'd go to the living room, his parents would be there. Once they'd see him, they'd fall silent all of a sudden. Sometimes, they'd get impatient and rush him to tell them, but he had to tell them that he needed someone to come and that Benny and Sarah were coming at night. Then things would be awkward once again after that.
Sitting in his room, he waited patiently for his friends. He was in no hurry to tell his parents, though he had to do it. Once he heard the door bell, his heart raced. Now was the time to tell them and he guessed it wasn't going to be very nice.
"I'll get it!" Jane exclaimed.
He slowly stepped downstairs, not trying to rush himself into doing anything. When the door was in view, he saw Sarah rubbing Jane's head and smiling while Benny stood there, waiting for something. When he saw his best friend, he grinned and stepped in after Sarah got invited.
"Hey, E," Benny greeted. "Are you ready?"
He shook his head. "No, but I have to do this whether I like it or not."
"Where are your parents?" Sarah asked.
"Living room," he replied while looking behind the stairs where they were seated. "Let's go." He walked with them to the living room.
Jane decided she'd sit on the stairs where she could hear everything yet not be seen.
Once the trio got in the living room, the Morgans greeted Benny and Sarah then back down on the sofa. There was enough space on another couch to sit in to fit all three of them, so they rested there.
Ethan figured he should tell them everything, starting with Jesse so they'd know about everything they'd been through. He started telling them about him and how Sarah dated him. In the middle of it, he felt his hand, which was behind him, get squeezed. He knew it was Sarah. He told them about when he got his visions, but got interrupted.
"Is that why you asked if I ever get them?" Samantha asked.
He nodded. Then he told them about going after Sarah and finding out she had fangs.
His parents looked at him as if he was making this up. His mother started laughing at this until Ethan spoke again.
"If you don't believe me, we have proof." This time, he gave Sarah a squeeze to let her know that it was okay.
Ross nodded. "Okay, then. Show us."
Sarah took a deep breath and close her eyes, trying to calm herself down. When her lips parted, her long fangs showed. But then she closed her mouth, afraid of showing them to Ethan's parents any longer. The Morgans shifted uncomfortably in their seats.
"Are you one of… them?" Ross asked, not sure if he meant she was a vampire or not.
He shook his head. "I'm no vampire."
"Let me continue," Benny whispered to him.
Ethan couldn't refuse that, so he nodded.
"Okay, umm," Benny said, trying to get the events to his head. He then told them about the pizza guy attack and how this ended up in a mess.
"Is that how your door broke?" Samantha asked.
Ethan nodded.
For Samantha and Ross, a few pieces of the puzzle started to get into place, but not all of the pieces were there.
Benny continued, telling them about the vampire party and how the blonds got turned. He then told them about the Cubile Animus.
"Wait, let me stop you there," Ross said. "You guys are serious, right?"
Ethan nodded. "This is more serious than you think."
"And is this all important? Are we getting anywhere to our actual question?"
"Yes, this is all important. We need to tell you all of this."
Both of his parents nodded.
Benny wanted to speak, but Ethan continued instead of him. "Before we stopped Jesse from doing what he did, Mrs. Weir gave us… daggers to fight vampires."
"Daggers?" Ross asked.
He nodded. "She also told us that she knew everything about us that we didn't even know. She's an earth priestess and Benny's a spell master. She also told me that I'm a seer."
"Come again?" his mother asked.
"Seer, as in psychic."
Samantha rubbed her temples, trying to get that through her head. "Is that all?"
He shook his head. "I didn't even get to the recent events."
"There's more?" she asked.
Ethan was afraid this was too much for them, so he asked, "Are you okay? Do you want me to continue or are those too many things to handle at once?"
"It's okay. Continue," Ross allowed him.
"I will," Sarah suggested, looking at her boyfriend.
He once again accepted this.
She told them after that about this year and about when she came back and found Ethan a bit not friendly with her though they were together. Then she hesitantly told them about him and Benny being werewolves.
"Wait, what?" both parents said in unison.
"Werewolves?" Ross asked.
Ethan looked down, feeling like hiding himself all of a sudden. "Yeah. That's why you saw me yesterday like that. I just… can't control my anger."
"What about the thing on your arm?" she asked.
He looked at the symbol on his arm that was a bit exposed since he was wearing a t-shirt. "It appears on any member of the pack's arm."
Samantha rested her back on the couch looking a bit shocked. Ross on the other hand looked calm, though Ethan doubted that he was. "Anything else?" his mother asked.
"I'm… gonna be like this for until I die."
"What?" she asked again.
"I'll stay sixteen for as long as I live," he said in a low voice.
He looked up again to see his mother looking sad. "You're serious," she breathed out. This seemed to stick in her mind more than anything else. Sure, her son was no longer the human he was. But staying this way? She couldn't take it.
Ross reached out to hug her and whispered, "It'll be okay." He knew it was a lie, though.
"Mom, I'm sorry," he apologized.
She sighed and patted to the empty spot next to her. He sat there. His mother told the others to give them a moment alone. Once they were the only ones there, she hugged him.
"Why?" she whispered as he hugged her back.
He sighed. "I don't know why – why it had to be me that turned, why trouble is always there for us, but Mom, things will still be the same. I'm still Ethan and that's still my best friend. We wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone, okay?"
He felt her nod.
"But I also have to tell you something else," he said.
She backed away, a bit curious. "What is it?"
"Someone… tried to kill me," he said.
"What? Why? What happened?"
He told her about the bullet, the figure he saw that he couldn't remember very well, the potion and the bad memory.
She hugged him again. This time, he was embarrassed.
"Mom!"
"What?" she asked, releasing him.
He shook his head. "I just… have to be somewhere right now."
"Where?" she asked.
He wanted to go to the Meeting Rock, but he wasn't in the mood to say that. "Just some place."
He stood up but she held his arms. "You're not going anywhere until you tell me where." This time, she looked strict.
He sighed and gave up. "Fine. I'm just going to see Will in the Meeting Rock."
Sarah explained to them what it was, so she knew what he meant.
"Okay, but be careful."
"I will," he smiled. "Well, bye."
He heard a 'bye' from his mother too before he walked towards Benny. Weirdly, Sarah wasn't there. "Where's Sare?"
"She said she had to go. I don't really know where, but she just went."
He stepped towards the door. "Come on. We have to go too, anyway." He appeared calm, but he was freaked out on the inside. He kept wondering where she was and kept worrying about her. He didn't know if he should trust his instincts.
They walked towards the woods and raced in there. By then, Ethan had already forgot about his past worries of Sarah.
Benny was faster, so it was hard to catch up to him.
"You can't reach me," Benny teased childishly.
"Okay, okay, stop." It wasn't that he was tired or anything. It was hard for a werewolf to get tired. But he smelled something. "Don't you find this smell familiar?"
When Benny stopped, he seemed to smell it too. The scent was very known to both of them. They smelled it just a few minutes ago. But what was it?
Benny's super senses were better, so he figured it out easily. "It's blood. Sarah's, if I'm guessing correctly."
"Oh no," he whispered. "Come on. It's from this was." He pointed to his right.
In a second, they were both off to the direction of the source of the smell. Ethan was so worried. He wanted to hurry and find Sarah. He just wanted her safe. And if he couldn't do that, then what could he do? He already proved to himself a few days ago that he was a bad boyfriend, so he didn't want to let anyone down, especially Sarah.
I'm a failure, he thought. I can't even protect my girlfriend.
Yet, at the same time, he didn't want to go and see why he could smell her blood, but he had to.
As they ran, the smell got stronger and Ethan grew more worried. In a few seconds, they heard a cough. Then they heard a groan from who they guessed was Sarah.
Ethan ran faster and faster until he came to a halt. There, in front of him, lied a weak Sarah. There was a stake protruding from her chest and blood was seeping out. Her eyes were filled with tears. Ethan should have trusted his instinct from the beginning. Just looking at her like this hurt him so much.
Ethan sat down beside her in the bloodless side and held her on his legs. He took the stake out and set it aside. She let out a small moan then continued her sobbing.
If she was bleeding and not disintegrating, then that meant that the stake didn't reach her heart. In order for a vampire to die, the heart must be staked.
"It's okay, Sarah. I took the stake out. You'll heal soon."
The blood's flow out of her chest by then stopped and so did her sobs. She swallowed and nodded.
"Who did this?" he asked.
"J-Jesse," she stammered.
He should've expected that. Jesse was the one to cause the trouble to them and he was also the one out to get them. Maybe he was the one that tried to kill him. But when he tried to focus on that night, he still saw a figure. Jesse wasn't the one with the gun and the silver bullets.
He looked at Benny. "Get her to your house. Your grandma can help her until she heals. I'll stay here and find out where that bitch is."
Benny nodded. "Be careful, okay? I'll come if Grandma doesn't need my help." He then took Sarah in his arms and walked away, slowly making his strides longer and his paces faster.
The seer looked left and right, not sure if Jesse was still there.
"Jesse, if you're here, show yourself instead of hiding."
He waited a few seconds. He was about to give up. When he turned around, he jumped from his place, not expecting to see the vampire behind him.
"Well, hello again," he said with a fake smile. "I hope you enjoyed my little surprise with your girlfriend."
"Why Sarah?" he asked. If anything, Jesse liked Sarah more than anyone. So, why do this to her?
"Just to lure you here."
"By harming her?" he asked. "You're sick."
He smirked as if proud of what he did.
"Were you the one that tried to kill me?" Ethan asked, changing the subject.
"Me?" he asked with another fake expression of his that showed hurt. "Now why would I do that?" Then he smirked again. "I let other people do my dirty work."
"Who did you send to kill me?" Ethan demanded, sounding more serious.
"Well, I won't tell you. I'll show you who it is."
He disappeared but in a second appeared with someone else. But the sight of that someone was shocking. "Will?"
But Ethan wasn't blaming him for anything. He looked scared of Jesse as if he might harm him. Will looked so weak in front of Jesse that Ethan saw him look so young and helpless.
But then all of his memories of that night came flooding by. He remembered that the figure came out to show Will holding a gun. His eyes were blank, focusing on the gun in his hand. Ethan kept telling him to stop, but he wasn't listening. Then the bullet was shot. The next thing he knew, Sarah and Scarlett were there. Then everything went dark.
"You hypnotized him that night. It doesn't matter who held the gun. You did it."
"Who cares?" He looked at Will, and then he shoved him towards Ethan. He was about to fall, but Ethan caught him and made him stand up. "Those are just warnings of what I can do. So, Ethan, beware."
That was the last thing he said before he was away.
Will looked at his friend, not making eye contact. "Are you mad?"
He laughed and shook his head. "It's not your fault."
Will smiled and slowly began walking away from where he was. "Come on. We have to go. Plus, you have to check on your girlfriend."
"She has a name," he said.
"Wow, I really thought she didn't," Will sarcastically said.
He rolled his eyes and continued walking.
Sarah woke up after passing out to the sound of two people talking. Both didn't sound like girls, so Sarah knew they were boys.
"Benny?" she asked. She couldn't recognize the voices but she guessed that one of them had to be him since he was the one that carried her.
"She's awake," she heard a whisper.
She tried to move her body but she felt too lazy. She remembered getting staked in the chest. But when she moved her head to look, there was no blood. In fact, there was no shirt. She was in her bra and jeans only.
She got up, ignoring the laziness of her body and covered her upper body, though she knew she wasn't naked. She just needed to give her body some privacy.
"Sorry we had to do that, but my grandma wanted to clean the wound a little bit."
Yes, it definitely was Benny.
"She's also washing your shirt from the blood."
That wasn't Benny. It sounded more like Ethan.
She looked towards the source of the sound, which was on her right side, and expectedly saw the two boys.
"Is she done? I want it," she said.
Benny shrugged. "It'll take more time. It doesn't seem to be dried."
"Can any of you call Erica and ask her if she can burrow me a shirt?"
Benny nodded and got up. He took his phone and walked out of the room, speaking a 'hello' before his voice faded away.
"Are you okay?" Ethan asked, making her look away from Benny's direction and turn to him.
She nodded. "I'm better now."
"But why did you go outside?" he asked. It was more of a stern question than a concerned one.
The thing was, she didn't remember. "I don't know."
He was about to yell at her and ask her how she didn't know, but he passed out before. Not the time he was shot, but the day of the blood drive. He remembered that when he woke up, he forgot a few things the first few minutes. But he still felt angry, so he said this even louder than the question before. "Why couldn't you be more careful, Sarah? You could've gotten yourself killed."
Sarah had always stayed strong, but this time, she couldn't. She put her head on her knees, which were lifted up, and a few tear drops ran down her eyes. Why do I have to get a boyfriend that always yells at me? Why? I just don't understand. It seemed that seer werewolves were really hard to calm down because one day, he'd be nice. The next, he'd be a big ball of fury, ready to explode any minute. All you had to do was touch it. "Stop yelling at me," she said in between cries.
She just wanted to be left alone. But that couldn't happen. She felt arms wrap around her and she heard a whisper. "I'm sorry. I know I'm a jerk at times, but I just care about you. I don't want you to get hurt."
She continued crying. But this time, she put her legs down and wrapped her arms around him. She didn't care if most of her upper body was exposed anymore. She just wanted a shoulder to cry on.
He moved his right arm up and down her back repeatedly until she quieted down. When she did, he gave her a kiss on the cheek and pulled away.
"Better?" he asked, smiling this time.
She nodded.
They stayed silent for a few minutes, both looking into empty space until Ethan spoke again.
"Sarah?" he said. She looked at him.
"Yeah?"
"Well, today made me realize something. When I saw you bleeding, I kept asking myself, 'What if she were a human? She could've died.' I kept worrying about you. But I'd be heartbroken if I lost you."
"Ethan, you told me yourself. You saw a vision last time about us growing to… six hundred year," she remembered.
"Yeah, I know. But what I'm trying to say is: I can't lose you," he said. The next part was a bit more shyly said, but he said it anyway since he felt that this was the moment for it. "I love you."
"Really?" she asked happily. She had admitted to herself that she loved him too, but she was afraid to say anything. "I love you too."
This time, Ethan was determined to kiss her. He leaned forward as she did too. They were just a few inches apart from each other, so they got closer until their bodies touched. They closed their eyes and were ready to kiss.
That was until Benny's voice was heard.
"Sarah, Erica said that-"
They looked at him, both with angry expressions.
Benny noticed how they were close and how they were wrapping their arms around each other, which both didn't realize until that moment.
"Benny, another perfectly good moment… ruined," she complained.
All Benny could do was laugh manically and walk away. Sometimes, he scared both of them.
Ethan rolled his eyes and looked back at her. They were still in the same position, so he figured that he should kiss her, so he did. For him, it was his first time to kiss someone, so he felt good. For Sarah, it was her first real kiss that meant something to her. So, for both, it was just amazing yet short.
When they pulled away, Sarah couldn't help but let a giggle escape. She wanted more, but it looked like Ethan wanted to say something.
"There was something I didn't tell you about my earlier vision since… I was afraid that you didn't love me back."
"What is it?"
He looked down at his legs, being careful not to be so perverted and look at her body. He smiled. "Though in that vision, I saw me dying and you… almost dying, but the one that killed us called me… your husband."
"And…?" she asked.
"That's it, really."
"I'm not really surprised. I mean, six hundred years. That's a lot. We can't live for that long and still be boyfriend and girlfriend without getting into a more serious relationship, huh?"
He shook his head. "I guess not."
Right now, he wanted to see a vision so badly about them. But he didn't know if she'd let him touch her hand or arm.
As if reading his mind, she said, "You can."
"How did you even know?" he asked.
"You were looking at my hand," she told him.
"Oh," he realized.
She extended her hand and he took it. He closed his eyes, thinking hard. Anything about my future with her. Anything, he thought.
Again, he felt his eyes open only to see a vision too.
He was looking at a bed room that was dimly lit. A bed was placed in the back center of the chamber and a window was behind it. A carpet was placed in front of the bed. It was a dark brown, same color as the bed. Those were the only things seen in the vision.
There, in the center of the bed, sat him and Sarah. A baby was cradled in Sarah's arms. Ethan's head rested on Sarah's as he put his arms around her, smiling and giving her kisses on the cheek every minute, it seemed.
"He looks more like you," she told him.
"I don't care as long as he's safe right now," he said.
"Yeah, I guess." She nodded. "Two hundred years so far and only… one of our kids died?"
"Yes, but… she turned out to be fully human. But she was the only sane child we ever had," he remembered.
Sarah cracked a smile. "So, how many do we have right now?" she asked, trying to count.
"I think Preston is the fifty second," he guessed, looking at the baby.
She looked at him. "Wow. We are such whores."
He laughed. "What? You think I'd live two hundred and three years and not have babies with you? That's just messed up."
"Well, I don't think we should mention this in front of Preston anymore."
He nodded in agreement.
Right after that, a teenage boy – or what looked like one – entered the room while holding a toddler. The toddler was a girl with a skin tone just like Sarah's while the boy had Ethan's and a bit of Sarah's.
"Hi, Mom, Dad," he said. "Chelsea was making a mess in the living room with the food, so I thought I'd bring her in here."
Sarah nodded. "It's okay. But you'll clean the mess, right?" she teased him.
"Yes," he laughed.
"Put her on the ground," Ethan said. "She cries fast if you don't."
The boy did as Ethan told him to and then exited the room. Sarah kept her eyes on Preston while Ethan watched Chelsea. She went over to the mini fridge and it seemed that he knew what she wanted because he got up..
"Dad," she spoke out and tried to open the fridge. Strangely, she succeeded.
"Gosh, she's using her super strength from now," he said.
Sarah just smiled at him. "You're just like this 'cause you don't like vampires. I know you exclude me, though."
He smiled but ignored her. He bent down on his knees until he was almost in the same level of height as the toddler. "What do you want?"
She pointed at the plastic cups. It was understood that she wanted to drink some water.
He poured her a bit and she drank from it. He smiled as she gave him the cup after she finished.
He put it on top of the fridge. "I'll let mommy wash that later," he said as he looked at Sarah.
"I hate you," she said.
"I know," he grinned.
But then Chelsea looked tiredly at him, so he took her, went over to bed and made her lie on his legs, stroking her hair as she closed her eyes.
"You know, we'd have to leave them all after four hundred year."
She nodded and put her head on his neck. "I know," she said sadly. "But we do have kids who are just as old as us… just twenty five years younger."
He nodded. "But it still seems sad knowing your fate and all. You just know when you'll be doomed."
"Yes, but let's just enjoy our life right now. We still have more years to live. A lot more."
But then the vision ended.
To him, the vision was great. He knew that they'd have children and he knew they were happy together. So, why stress over things?
"What did you see?" she asked.
He smiled. "It's just… nothing new. Just about our future in two hundred years."
"Oh, what happens?"
"I didn't see much. Just that we live. Happily. We also have a great family. That's all."
"Oh," she said.
"Sarah," they heard a voice.
Erica.
She came towards the room, hugging Sarah, not minding if she had a shirt or not. "I heard what happened. Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm a lot better," she admitted, smiling.
"Here, I brought you a shirt you left at my house," Erica said. She then dragged Sarah away who was still covering her upper body.
All Ethan could do was smile. His parents found out about all of this without yelling. He figured out that Jesse tried to kill him, which was a bit obvious. He didn't know how he didn't know this. He found out Sarah loved him and he saw how great their future was.
He didn't know what to expect for the next day, but he hoped it would be just as okay as this one, if he'd leave out the part about Sarah being stabbed. But he had a feeling that things would go upside down for a reason.
He didn't know why.
Tada! How was that? Okay? Fine? I don't know. Don't hit me.
*hides in a corner*
Hey, you can say Benny's a total… cock block. *nudges you and smiles* Not funny? I'm dirty? Okay.
