I am on a role with this whole update thing...baam baam. A word of warning: I'll put a line break in when I change the main point of view if it's not clear. I REPEAT: A LINE BREAK IS BEING USED AS A POINT OF VIEW CHANGE NOT A SETTING CHANGE! This chapter has a lot of things happening at the same time so be aware of that. And as always. Enjoy~
Fifth Squad Captain's Chamber
"Yuki!" the lights were turned on, "Yuki! Yuki come on!" Yuki felt someone trying to rip her out of bed. She wasn't going to let them, "Ai! Yuki! Get up get up get up get up!"
Frustrated, Yuki groaned as pleadingly as she could What time is it? Just let me sleep pleeeaseee.
"Yuki come on this is important! Yuuuuuuukiiiiii!" she was being shook more viciously. There were only two people who feel comfortable awaking her like this.
"Torou-kuuuunnn" she was muffled under the covers and pillows, "Go awayyyyyy"
"No!" Hitsugaya struggled trying to rip the covers away from her, "Theres-" he pulled the blanket, "an-" pulled again, "EMERGENCY!" with his final pull he was able to completely remove the covers from Yuki. "Ah-" He fell off of the bed.
"Hmmmhmhrmmmm" Yuki curled up into a ball, she was determined to go back to bed.
"Yuki! " Hitsugaya stood back up to see Yuki curled up in a ball, on her bed, in a thin night dress. "Ah!" He turned around to hide his red face, What is wrong with me? I saw her naked for crying out loud... "Yuki the special unit was called! Hollow have invaded, on noble property!" It took most of Hitsugaya's effort to not turn around and look at her again.
Shihoin Mansion
"Torou-kun, why are you here by the way?" Yuki sighed, yet again Hitsugaya had found his way into Yuki's work.
"Alright everyone," Kyourane Chou was walking toward the group that had assembled, "the hollow appear to have entered through a rip on the back of the property. Shima-taicho, you make your way to the rip to prevent more from getting through. Minji-taicho, Enkimura-taicho, you make a path for her and prevent the hollow from damaging the grounds too much. Raiden-san, you stay close to Shima-taicho and fight off any of the hollow that attack her while she manages the rip." With their orders, everyone left.
Chou let out a long sigh. She looked composed but she was shaking on the inside. All those years of change, yet here she is a little 8 year old girl about to be scolded by the nanny. She hoped no one would recognize her out here.
The back of the property
Enkimura and Minji were the first two to get to work, there were hundreds of hollow, and more coming through.
"Command, Gilgamesh!" once again Enkimura got to witness as Minji commanded her zanpaktou. It was golden and too fast to properly watch. Why did she come here with Hitsugaya-taicho? He was trying to hold back that voice inside of his head. It wasn't the time to think about those kinds of things. It was time to battle.
Enkimura battled hollow, while keeping an eye on Minji. He waited for an opportunity to jump in and save her...to impress her. The two made eye contact, Enkimura couldn't help but smile at her. Minji's eyes widened
"Enkimura!" she lunged forward.
Finally taking notice of the Hollow swinging down to strike, Enkimura took action, "Avenge, Ishtar-sama!" there was a strike of lightning that came down from the sky and destroyed the Hollow.
Ishtar...sama?! Yuki had never heard Gilgamesh speak with such fear. Suddenly her zanpaktou went from Shikai back into its normal katana form. Gilgamesh? Gilgamesh!
Yuki didn't really need Gilgamesh to fight against these hollow; she could deal with them by just raising her reiatsu if it came down to that. She was worried because he was gone. She feared that if she went into her soul room, she wouldn't find him sitting here smiling at her. She felt as though her own zanpaktou, her father, her King, had abandoned her.
Enkimura you brat! You weren't supposed to let her know the name of your sword!
Ishtar didn't understand that now was not a good time, Enkimura had to be focused on the here and now...not deal with her politics right now.
Not now...later. Please later?
Something was wrong. The hollow were coming more and more...and were they getting stronger? Enkimura thought they were. He looked over at his partner. She was struggling. Something wasn't right. Why is she having such hardship...I saw her take out hundreds upon hundreds of these pathetic things...what wrong now? Enkimura noticed that her sword was back into its katana form. What the?
Gilgamesh...Gilgamesh...Gilgamesh come back! Yuki was losing her sanity. She could only think of the last time that he had not answered her...she was taken by Aizen. The fear sunk into her. She was going to be taken back to him. He was plotting to bring her back to his kingdom.
"Yuki, my princess, we have more work to be done. Follow me." His voice echoed inside her head. That voice that soothed; the voice that numbed before it bit. His voice that made everything okay. Gilgamesh please...Gilgamesh...Gilgamesh...
She felt tears well up in her eyes. When was the last time she cried in fear? Was it when she was first given to Szayel?
"You and I are going to have fun together wont we?" Who had saved her at that time? It wasn't Gilgamesh...and it wasn't Aizen...
She was knocked to the ground by a hollow.
"Minji!" Enkimura's fight was futile against the hollow, I have to save her.
The hollow picked her up and began to squeeze her.
"Minji!" Enkimura tried to yell louder than her scream. He watched as her katana fell to the ground. He watched as her eyes changed yellow and listened as her scream began to echo within itself. He felt the earth shake beneath him and he watched as...
Meanwhile around the Mansion with Chou
She couldn't help herself. Chou was too curious to not look around her old home. She wondered what had changed and what was the same, mostly she wondered if her room was there. She hated that she still remembered the way to her old room in this maze of a mansion. Something that took her so long to learn as a child, but something she couldn't forget as an adult. She reached for the door and paused as her finger touched the wood. It was so smooth, just as she had remembered it. She knew at that moment that it would not be her room behind those doors. That her parents would have changed it to a study or maybe even a storage room. She imagined her parents demolished her room and this door was actually just a decorative wall. She sighed as her hand fell from the door. I'm not going in there. What do I care if they did something to a place I was kicked out of. I won't go in.
"Onee-chan!" Chou turned and drew her katana at the sudden sound, she came face to face with a small girl, perhaps only 6 years old. Chou put her katana away and tried to look for a way out of the mansion from where she was. Exit, exit, ...there must be...an exit around...onee-chan?
Chou looked down at the child. She was short, and her face still had its baby fat on her cheeks. Her hair was lavender purple color that was braided on either side...it was the same color as Chou's.
"Michiko onee-chan!" the child jumped into Chou's arms...Mi-Michiko. When was the last time that Chou had been called that name?
"Michi?! Where did you run off to? It's dangerous right now!" that voice. Mother? Chou started to panic. Feelings that she didn't want to have were welling up inside of her. Fear, sadness, loneliness, happiness, joy, grief, pain...regret.
"Okaa-san I'm over here with Mich-" Chou covered the little girls mouth. She would not feel those feelings now. She would run. She put Michi down facing her.
"Michi-chan, listen to me. Listen to...Michiko onee-san," the girl nodded, "Let's keep this a secret from Okaa-san hmm?" the girl looked unhappy, "If you promise to keep it a secret. I'll come visit you secretly again OK?" Chou held her pinky up to the girl, "Promise?"
The girl held onto Chou's pinky with her own, "OK! Promise! But you definitely have to come again!"
Chou hear the footsteps coming closer. Her promise with Michi-chan may not even matter if Chou didn't find her way out soon.
"Kyourane-taicho!" Hitsugaya's head was poking into the hallway from Chou's old room, "Quick come this way!"
Without the time to ask questions Chou ran into her old room- Everything's the same- and escaped through the window with Hitsugaya. Her mind was racing, does he know? How much did he hear? Were there any pictures of me in that room?
"Kyourane-taicho! What were you doing in there? You know that a nobles house is off limits! If I wouldn't have seen you from the outside and come in to get you, you might have been caught!..."
As Hitsugaya continued to lecture her, Chou began to relax. She was lucky he hadn't heard anything.
They both spun their heads to the back of the property when they head the scream. Hitsugaya panicked first, "Yuki!" he shunpo'd away in an instant with Chou close behind him.
Meanwhile by Shima-taicho
Yuki created an opening quickly for Akuma and Raiden to run through, "Let's go!" within a minute they made it to where the rip was; it was spreading. "Raiden I need you to keep the hollow back,"
"Oh kay!" Raiden was excited to finally get to fight.
Akuma first put a kidou barrier on the other side of the rip, this will keep other Hollow from coming through until the repair work is done. She started to work on stitching the rip closed when she heard Yuki scream. She turned her head for an instant, she watched Yuki's katana fall from her hand, This doesn't make any sense! How could she fall!? She can''t!
Where's your focus, Akuma?
For an instant Yuki's reiatsu fell to almost nothing. Feeling an opening, Akuma's zanpaktou screamed as loud as he could for as long as the moment would allow. It was enough to bring Akuma to her knees holding back a scream of her own. His scream only lasted three seconds, but it threw Akuma back into the time when she heard it every minute. She reached for her flask and cursed when it wasn't there. In her fear she didn't feel Yuki's reiatsu rise, she only feared the return of the scream. She couldn't handle it. It had been so long since she heard it at that level, and now it was taunting her. Paranoia took her. In her panic, she let her kidou fall. The hollow rushed in again.
"Shima-taicho!" She was being shaken by Raiden, "Shima-taicho you need to stop the hollow from coming in! If you don't-" Raiden kept turning his head from Akuma to Yuki. He was afraid."Shima-taicho!" Frustrated by Akuma's motionless state Raiden tried to think of kidou he knew. He put the kidou wall back up behind the rip. How was she able to manage multiple kidou's? Raiden felt his wall weakening the more he took his focus off of it. He had no choice but to trust his unit. He hoped they would protect him while he held this kidou up.
Hitsugaya was now close enough to see the situation. Something had happened to were Yuki was captured. Not only that but Yuki was losing herself. Hitsugaya knew that she was threatening to transform from the rate her reiatsu was rising at. He needed an idea. He wouldn't make in time to knock her out, and Hyorinmaru wouldn't make it either. There was only one option. I hope she can forgive me... "Kyourane-taicho, capture Minji-taicho in one of your spheres."
"But Hitsugaya-taicho, they'll make her-" Chou couldn't believe she heard Histugaya tell her to use her powers.
"Do you see the situation?!" He was yelling, "Yuki needs to be detained right now! Right Now! Listen to me!"
"Absorb, Bakemono!" Yuki was immediately wrapped in the black sphere, and Hitsugaya called out Hyorinmaru to clean up the hollow, "Ahhh!" There was a mental strain on Chou to keep Yuki in the sphere. Yuki was fighting in there and Chou had to battle to keep her in there. She fell to her knees, with her fingers on her temples. I won't let you out...Hitsugaya-taicho ordered me to keep you locked up in there. Who knows what kind of punishment you're receiving in there...long overdue I presume.
"What a mess!" Hitsugaya had quickly dealt with the mess and was now reprimanding the unit, "What a disaster! Your fighters can't fight together, your kidou master decides to take a nap, your commander doesn't even come to front lines with you! The only person who did anything well tonight was Raiden!" in his rage Hitsugaya had forgotten that Chou was still trapping Yuki. Because she was focusing on keeping the sphere active, it didn't vanish after 20 seconds. But Chou had never tried to hold a whole person in a sphere for over five minutes. She couldn't break her silence to call Hitsugaya over. She just hoped her would realize and come tell her to stop. She didn't know how much longer she could hold Yuki back.
"Hitsugaya-taicho?"
"Yes Raiden?" Hitsugaya ran his hand through his hair.
"Sensei..." he pointed to the sphere that was still holding Yuki.
"Yuki!" He turned to look at Chou, then back to the unit, "All of you leave. Go back and report to Genryuusai-taicho right now." Without questioning the look of panic in his eyes, the unit obeyed their orders. "Kyourane-taicho! Listen to me. I want you to release Yuki ok?"
Chou nodded, she couldn't do anything else without breaking the sphere.
"Ok in 3, 2," Hitsugaya stood under the sphere ready to catch Yuki if she fell, or to battle her transformation, "1!" The sphere broke and Yuki fell.
"GILGAMESH!" the moment she fell into Hitsugaya's arms she passed out. She had broken out into a cold sweat and shook in his arms. What on earth did she see in there?
Ahhh yes. The Chapter where everything goes wrong. My favorite. Refreshing. At least it's not a really bad cliff-hanger right?..
MUWAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH...*ehem* See you soon?
