Hi guys, Sorry for the holdup. I have been busy getting some new stories up for a different fandom, but I haven't forgotten my Grey's stories. Not at all! I hope you all are still with me! Anyway, thanks to all who have read, reviewed, followed, favorited, and/or PMed me.

How are we all reacting to April's big spill on the show! I am shocked...I loved that Shonda is putting more and more Japril into the show.

Enjoy everyone! And have a fab weekend!

I Want You With Me

Chapter 13

April

April nervously smoothed her napkin over her lap. She took a large sip of water out of the tumbler as the waitress approached.

April and Matthew ordered drinks. As the waitress left, Matthew smiled at April nervously.

Oh, God, please don't let happen what I think is happening, April thought to herself.

"How have you been?" Matthew asked, trying to keep it light.

"I have been good. You?" April asked, wondering what else Matthew had changed, besides the motorcycle.

"Well, I quit the ambulatory service," he said, "Bought a bike, had my entire perspective on life change…"

April laughed at his joking tone. He smiled and said, "God I missed your laugh."

April's smile fell and she looked down at her lap, closing her eyes as she thought what she should say.

The waitress reappeared and April realized she hadn't looked over the menu yet. Too busy panicking and staring at her lap.

She looked down at the open menu on the table in front of her and picked the first thing her eyes landed on then handed the menu back.

This lunch...she hoped it flew by...or there was a massive trauma that called her back to the hospital immediately.

Once their order was placed the waitress once again left them.

"So, what are your plans now that you aren't working as a paramedic?" April asked, grabbing a roll and shoving a chunk in her mouth.

"Well," Matthew said, coughing awkwardly, "I decided to take the time to figure that out."

April nodded and said, "I think that's gr-"

"April, I can't do this," Matthew said suddenly, cutting her off. April breathed a sigh of relief. Thank God….

"I can't do small talk with you," Matthew said.

Oh shit…

"The truth about why I asked you here. I want to talk to you about...getting back together," Matthew said, training his eyes on her nervously, studying for any reaction.

"I...I...I…"

"Here we go," the waitress said, appearing with their plates.

"Great, thanks," Matthew said, not letting his eyes off her more than two seconds. April tried to compose herself...she tried to think of a response, but she couldn't think clearly...her head was racing.

This is a nightmare, she thought. The waitress left and Matthew watched her as she attempted to process everything. He was asking her to take him back...how could she do this to him again?

"Listen, I know...I know you have a strong connection to Avery. You have a history. You were friends for so long, and then...it doesn't matter," Matthew said, a slight stammer to his voice as he rushed to get the words out.

It doesn't matter...April reeled angrily….Yeah, it mattered. That's why she loved Jackson. Why she married him.

"Matthew-"

"No, April, please, let me finish," Matthew pleaded, "If you think about it, really think about it, how would a relationship with Jackson play out? You are together for so long...then...what? Get married? You can't marry someone who doesn't have the same devotion for God. The same love for Christianity. How would you? Raising children?"

April's head spun as she considered his words. Well, kids would be complicated...wait wait wait, April thought, This is something she should be talking to Jackson about...her husband.

"Avery...he doesn't make sense for you, April. We make sense, April," Matthew said, reaching across the table to take her hand in his.

April closed her eyes, and reached in her pocket, slipping her wedding rings on her fingers and then set her hand in his gently. She opened her eyes and saw the shock take over his features.

"You…" he said, his voice wavering as he tried to take it in.

"Jackson is my husband, Matthew," April said.

"But…"

"But nothing. I love him. He may not make sense to you or to anyone else, but I love him. And I don't have to explain my choice to you or anyone," April said, surprised at the edge to her own voice, "Well...except my parents."

Matthew released her hand, resting it on the table, looking at her hand in shock.

"Oh April," Matthew said, his voice shaking as he struggled to find the words.

April sighed as she pulled her hand off the table and folded her hands in her lap.

"Matthew, I care about you. I want you to be happy," April said, fighting tears, "But...I am not what will make you happy. Not when I feel the way I feel about Jackson."

Matthew looked her over, and April wondered if he was really hearing her words. He looked like he had been hit upside the head.

"I thought...I thought you knew about me and Jackson. I assumed Nicole would fill you in," April said gently, feeling sorry for him.

"Well…I...Jeez, I don't know how to…"

"I know, Matthew, I get it that it's a lot to take in," April murmured, her stomach rolling as she looked down at her untouched meal.

"I have lost my appetite," he said, rubbing his forehead.

"Me too," April said, relieved that the lunch looked like it was going to be cut short.

There was silence as Matthew just stared down to the table. April waved over the waitress and handed her credit card to her quickly, shooting her a look.

The waitress scurried away and April leaned forward and said, "Matthew? Are...are you okay?"

His eyes rose to meet hers and she was shocked by how cold and hard they were, "Do you think I am okay, April?" he snapped.

April flinched and said, "I-"

"You made a mistake April!" he practically shouted, "You chose the wrong guy. And you expect me to what? Be happy for you? Tell you I understand?"

"No-"

"Come on, we're going," Matthew said, standing abruptly.

"I am not getting on that bike when you are so…"

"I am fine to drive, let's go," Matthew said, grabbing her arm.

April flinched as he gripped her harder. April was suddenly pissed and yanked her arm free, gripping it and rubbing it.

"I am not going with you. I suggest you sit and calm down before you go, but whatever you choose to do, I am not getting on that bike with you again," April seethed.

Matthew glared down at her and then stormed off, and out of the restaurant. April's eyes filled with tears as she heard the roar of his motorcycle. April looked up as the waitress appeared and handed her credit card back.

April shuddered as the waitress gave her a pitying look.

April grabbed her purse and stood with as much dignity as she could. She walked out of the restaurant, rooting through her purse for her phone.

Jackson

Jackson was looking over his skin grafts when his phone rang. He had busied himself with the skin grafts to forget that his wife...his wife...was out with her ex fiancé.

Now she was calling, the wonderful wife that she was, to check in.

"Hey, swee-"

SOB! Right in his ear. Jackson sat up straight as he listened to April sob into the phone, not having any idea what she was trying to tell him. Obviously lunch hadn't gone well…

The only words he could make out in that mess were Matthew and motorcycle...he needed her to calm down so he could make sense of what she was saying.

"April, baby, take some deep breaths and calm down. I can't understand anything…"

"You went on his motorcycle?" Jackson asked, not knowing if she was being serious or not...

"Where are you?" he asked, in disbelief…what the hell were they doing back

"He left you there?" Jackson bit out, pacing, feeling his blood pressure rising.

"I am coming. Stay put. I will be there soon," Jackson said, hanging up on her and rushing out of the lab.

Jackson grabbed his keys and made his way to his car as he thought about the basics April had gone over on the phone…

Apparently, Mathew had taken April to lunch on his motorcycle to a place that held some significance, lunch hadn't gone smoothly, and then Matthew bailed on her. Jackson was pissed.

As he drove, he wondered what could have happened during that lunch to make Matthew...a guy who always seemed so even tempered, to storm off?

Jackson knew the moment they had run into Matthew this morning. He knew that Matthew would try to win April back. Honestly, did he think April would leave her husband?

Jackson spotted the restaurant and pulled off the highway, spotting April, slumped on a bench her shoulders shaking. Jackson sighed, never liking it when April cried.

He climbed out and walked towards April, sitting next to her and wrapping his arm around her. April leaned into his embrace, burying her face in the crook of his neck. He rubbed her back, pulling her closer.

"He didn't know...about us," April said, hiccupping. "And he…"

"April, he was hurt. People say some stupid, hurtful shit when they are hurt," Jackson said, "He will cool off and...you know...get over it. And move on."

Jackson and April sat on the bench in front of the restaurant until April was cried out.

"Should we go home?" he asked, smiling down at April, kissing the top of her head.

April nodded and Jackson led her to the car, helping her in.

He couldn't help the smile on his face as he walked around the car and climbed in to take her home.
