Chapter 13: Uncovering

(The Garage)
They were walking through the halls of Venjix's palace, frequently stopping to hide around a corner or press against a wall as a patrol of Grinders came marching pass them. With the robots were no longer in view, they continued down the hallway. The socks they wore offered little as the cold metal floor was just as lifeless as their captors and the very environment around them was.
"Don't let go." She said as he held one of her hands with one of his and had his other hand on her shoulder to help support and guide her through the corridors.
"Don't worry I got you. We're almost out, I promise." He replied back to her as they continued walking. The whirling of Grinders came to their ears as the menacing robots appeared in front of them and behind them. He didn't want to let go of her, but he had no choice as he kicked the first Grinder that made an attempt to grab her. It hurt to hear her scared gasps as he grappled the robots throwing them down on the ground and smashing one's head against another's. "Get away from her!" He shouted when he saw more of the robot soldiers start to approach her when she started to move towards him. He then felt a huge pain in his back as he collapsed to his side. Looking up he tried to reach out to her hands as they reached out for him. He saw a sinister looking robot with black and red designs march proudly past him and motioned for the Grinders to grab her and pull her away. Her screams were heard as they dragged her out of sight from him.
"No!" He shouted as he jumped to feet and slammed the first robot that tried to subdue him against a wall. Pushing, punching, and kicking through each and every Grinder that got in his way until he reached a main chamber. Looking he saw the robots started dragging her towards a basin on the platform they were standing on.
"Soon you'll be one of us." The sinister robot stated as he stood next to a satellite dish looking robot. He didn't care of what the robot said, in fact it made him want to get to her faster as his arm caught a Grinder in the neck and knocked it back as he continued charging forward to save her. "You're too late." The robot taunted as the Grinders that were holding her tossed her into the basin. His heart stopped as he heard her scream as he dived and caught her hand before she fell in.
"Don't let go." He strained as held onto her hand with his.
"I can't hold on." She cried back as her grip was slipping.
"Yes you can, I can save you." He gritted his teeth as he tried to tighten his hold, he turned his head back as he saw the robot leave from where he was standing next to his satellite shaped companion
"What makes you think she wants to be saved?" The sinister robot came up and taunted him.
"What?" He gasped from shock, then gave another sharp gasp of pain as it felt like his hand was being crushed. Turning back to look at her, his eyes widened. Instead of the white outfit she was wearing before, it was now a purple bodysuit with a visor like device on her head. Instead of the scared and panicked look on her face, it was one of malice and evil smirk was on her face.
"Care to join me, dear brother." And before he could respond, she reached up with her other hand and grabbed his other arm and gave a hard pull dropping the both of them into the basin.
"NO!" Dillon shouted as he shot up from the bed. He reached around his face, feeling nothing more then it being drenched in sweat. He reached over and grabbed the water glass and took a big gulp of it, letting the enhanced effects calm his nerves as he placed the glass down and ran a hand through his hair sighing. The nightmare was so real as everything was more clearer than it was before. There was no denying it anymore, Tenaya 7 was his long lost sister and the nightmare proved to be another cruel reminder of that. A reminder of not only of what she was now, but also the fact that the Venjix virus was slowly taking over him until he would be one of them. A knock on his door brought Dillon out of his self thoughts.
"Dillon you there, you won't believe this but Scott is back." Ziggy's excited voice rang through, and the younger man's footsteps were heard running away and down the stairs. He sighed and got up and walked out of the bedroom and down the stairway to the main floor of the garage.
"So what was their dimension like?" Flynn asked as he sipped on his smoothie, Scott gave a small chuckle.
"Not bad, a little old fashioned and old school though. Though it was nice to look at a real clear blue sky again." He finished somberly, one day they would be able to do the same again once Venjix was defeated.
"And Professor Cog?" Summer asked.
"Won't be seeing him anymore." Scott smiled back, actually happy to be rid of the menace of Professor Cog. It was the combined efforts of Scott, Jayden, and the rest of the Samurai Rangers that Professor Cog was defeated once and for all. Afterwards the Samurai team escorted Scott back to the train that would take him back home. The brief silence was cut short when Dr. K came walking out of her lab.
"As always nice to see you back Scott. Now would anyone make a stop to the grocery store for me?" She looked at the team.
"I would." Ziggy held up his hand.
"It won't take long, perhaps no longer than an hour."
"Me." Ziggy continued.
"Someone reliable to get the job done."
"Right here." Ziggy whistled and pointed to himself.
"Anyone?" Dr. K pleaded as she noted that the others were keeping quiet and not saying anything, getting amusement out of Ziggy trying to get her attention and her attempts to ignore him. "Alright Ranger Series Green."
"Yes." Ziggy cheered.
"Here's the list. And don't forget the Mr. Marshmallows." She scolded as she walked back into her lab.
"Like I would forget them." Ziggy chuckled as he strapped on a helmet and got on his scooter and rode off to the grocery store.
(Corinth)
Once he reached the store, Ziggy immediately went to work on getting all the items Dr. K had on her list. There was a brunette haired cashier wearing a white shirt and cap currently facing the front window and wiping it down with a rag. He walked up to the checkout stand waiting for the cashier to turn around from cleaning the window in front of her. He gave a cough to signify he was standing there, but she didn't turn around. Then a couple knocks on the stand itself in hopes she would hear it, but didn't. Ziggy sighed in impatience as he glared at the ignorant cashier.
"Um hi I hate to be a bother, but I would like to checkout. It's not like I have places to go or not be bored to death." He stated.
"Death?" The cashier replied back as if that was the only word she caught, "Would you like that in paper or plastic?" She turned around and Ziggy jumped back as he was staring right at Tenaya 7.
"You know what, in second thought perhaps I don't need these Mr. Marshmallows." Ziggy tossed the contents of the basket in her direction.
"I don't think so." Tenaya hopped over the stand and the cashier's outfit reverted back to her usual purple bodysuit. Bringing out the hand blaster, she fired at him as he ducked and dived out of the way of the blasts as they tore through fruit stands, candy carts, the ice cooler, and another blew open a soda cooler as multiple bottles and cans of soda broke open or burst on the floor. Ziggy charged through the back office before shoving open the emergency exit and running down the back alley towards where he parked his scooter. Tenaya stepped out from the exit along with a Grinder following her. She turned her to look at the robot then motioned with her head towards the retreating Ranger. The Grinder buzzed his acknowledgement as it took aim with its blaster and fired.
"Ahhh." Ziggy groaned as he felt a sharp burning sensation on the back of his left leg and he stumbled, falling face first to the pavement. He tried crawling away as he heard footsteps approach from behind, feeling a heavy pressure against his back. Ziggy looked up and saw the Grinder had one foot firmly on his back while Tenaya kneeled down and grabbed his left arm up to look at his morpher.
"Well now Ranger Green, how do you use this to communicate with your team." She asked.
"I don't know, and if I did I wouldn't tell you." He replied back. Her face took on a look of irritation before she twisted her arm at an almost inhuman angle and gave a hard pull to it, taking satisfaction in shocked and pained expression on his face.
"Now if I pull anymore at this angle, I could dislocate you shoulder. A real hard pull and I'll break your arm. Now if you don't want a broken arm, or better yet not have your arm ripped off completely you'll tell me how it works." She hissed at him.
"Red button on the side." He groaned, admitting defeat.
(The Garage)
Dillon sat in the lounge chair listening to the melody play on the pocket watch while looking over as Scott and Flynn were doing an oil check on the Racer. Summer had gone out to meet her parents for lunch while the twins were working with Dr. K in her lab. His mind still played the nightmare he had in his head as he took another gulp from his water glass. Dillon was now mostly cured of the toxin poisoning he had taken in, but there was still the occasional faint moments so to be on the safe side he continued to drink the water the Rangers from the other dimension made for him.
"Dillon you there?" Ziggy's voice came to his morpher.
"Ziggy? What is it?" He replied back into it.
"Um well, I need your help on something. Could you come to the grocery store?" Ziggy's voice.
"Look if its about getting something special for the Doc, just get double of Mr. Marshmallow for her." He replied back not really interested.
"Dillon, come on." He heard the pleading voice of Ziggy.
"Alright, I'll be there soon." Dillon sighed knowing that Ziggy wouldn't give up until he relented. He admitted it would feel to good step out for awhile and not be cooped up in the garage waiting for the next Venjix attack. Getting into the Fury he drove down to the grocery store that the Rangers frequently went to stock up the kitchen and get their mentor the sweets and candies she loved. "Alright Ziggy I'm here…" Dillon stopped as he stepped into the store. The place looked like it had been trashed; various types of fruits lay spilled on the floor or burst open, candies broken and burnt rested all over, and a puddles of melted ice along with various types of soda had formed neared their respective coolers. His ears tuned into a slight moan coming from the back office and he rushed towards it, finding a young blonde woman dressed in a cashier's uniform tied up.
"What happened?" He asked as he helped the young woman up and untied her.
"I'm not sure, I was opening up the store when I heard a noise coming from in here. The next thing I felt something heavy hit the back of my head." The woman groaned as she rubbed the back of her head and winced.
"Did someone come into the store? Dressed like me but green colored?" Dillon asked.
"No." She shook her head, "I was just about to open when I heard the noise back here." She sat down in a chair to get her surroundings. "How am I going to explain this to the manager?" She motioned towards the mess that was the store. Dillon's morpher gave a little beep and he motioned to the woman he had to take the call and stepped out as Corinth military stepped in to investigate.
"Ziggy if this is some kind of joke it's not…" He started.
"Believe me Ranger Black, it's no joke." a familiar voice replied back to him.
"Tenaya." He gritted his teeth, "What do you want?"
"Oh just to inform you we have unfinished business. If you want to see your Ranger Green alive again, you'll do what I say." She finished.
"Dillon, don't do what she ways. I'll be fine…" Ziggy yelled through the morpher and than heard a the sound of him being hit and then a groan.
"Here's what you need to do. Come to the steel mill in the industrial district. And come alone, don't bring your fellow Rangers with you." Tenaya finished before cutting off communication. Dillon gritted his teeth and punched a hole into a nearby brick wall. He had to get to Ziggy before it was too late.
(Venjix Palace)
"Master I have completed the design for the Series 2 Roto Bot." Shifter stated as the claw lowered down into the basin and pulled the newest Venjix attack bot out.
"Well done General Shifter." Venjix walked around looking at the new attack bot before turning to others, noticing that one of them was currently not there. "Where is Tenaya 7?"
"Hmmm she left right after that Serrator sent his creations after the Rangers and she hasn't returned yet, how curious." Kilobyte stroked his chin. "Master do you think?"
"I have had the same hypothesis Kilobyte, and it could prove a problem." Venjix replied back.
"Yes, our dear Tenaya 7 has only just recently discovered that she is a hybrid, and not a robot. Perhaps her human side is causing her to act out on her own, especially in light of finding out that Subject D44 is her brother."
"We must ensure that Tenaya 7 is still loyal to our cause. Kilobyte, you will go to the domed city with General Shifter's Roto Bot. You will leave him to attack the city, you will find Tenaya 7 and bring her back," Venjix ordered.
"Of course Master Venjix, as you command." Kilobyte bowed though he clenched one of his fists. He would go to the city and find Tenaya 7, but he had no intention of bringing her back. Too long has she been the favored general to Venjix, now it was time to change that.
(The Garage)
Summer returned to the garage noticing Scott and Flynn engaged in some sort of video game where a robotic t-rex was fighting an armored monkey like beast carrying a sword. Gem and Gemma stood behind the two cheering them on. She then took notice that both Dillon's Fury and Ziggy's little scooter were gone.
"Ziggy not back from the store yet?" She asked the others, he had left before she left to go to lunch with her parents.
"Aye the lad is not. Wonder what's taking him so long, Dillon left as well and we figured he was probably going out for a drive or clear his thoughts." Flynn explained as he was controlling the armored monkey and had him unleash a furious combination of sword strikes, slashes, and kicks.
"Probably one of the two." Scott agreed as he input a set of commands into his controller and watched as the robotic t-rex let loose its super move which was a wave of energy beams coming from the t-rex's eyes. The alarm went off and Dr. K emerged from the lab and faced the team.
"We got an emergency, another Venjix attack bot has emerged in the downtown district." She pressed a few keys on the computer as an image showed of Venjix's newest attack bot charging down the street firing energy blades at everything it saw while accompanied by a battalion of Grinders. Some of Corinth's soldiers were seen picking off a Grinder or two, but none of their weapons penetrated the armor of the attack bot.
"Look we can't wait for Dillon and Ziggy, we have to go now." Scott ordered as they ran towards their vehicles, "Try and get in contact with them Doctor and send them there." He finished as he jumped into his Racer and followed Flynn in his Hummer and Summer on her Motorbike.
The downtown district was a mess as cars were overturned, burning, or blown up. Windows, vendor stands, light fixtures were all wrecked or destroyed. Grinders continued marching down the streets firing at everything that was in their sights.
"Come on come on, this way!" Hicks shouted to the scared screaming public as they ran past him while he joined his fellow soldiers in providing cover fire. "Fall back!" He ordered as he saw the Roto Bot emerge from an alleyway and launch energy blades shaped like circular saws in the soldiers' direction. They were not equipped to handle such an attack bot. Kilobyte stood atop of a department store as he watched the chaos happen in the streets below while triangulating on Tenaya 7's signal.
"Ahh so you're in the industrial district." Kilobyte smiled to himself as he looked over and saw the Rangers emerge from their vehicles. "So the cavalry has arrived. Not important, the Roto Bot will deal with them. I have a pesky hybrid to deal with."
"Ready?" Scott shouted to the others.
"Ready! RPM, Get In Gear!" The motioned and morpher into their bio-suits.
"Street Saber!" Scott summoned the weapon as he charged forward slicing and slashing down each Grinder that got in his way. He deflected the laser blasts they were firing at him as he jumped over a pair of the robots and landed behind them swinging his saber low, cutting off both robots' legs.
"Zip Charger!" Summer weaved out of the way of each Grinders' blaster shots and let the tiny remote loose in tripping them up.
"Turbo Cannon!" Flynn leaped into the air and fired at each of the Grinders that been tripped up by Summer, making them into little more than nuts and bolts. Off to the side Gem and Gemma were using their Cloud Hatchets in cutting up each robot they could get their hands on. The Roto Bot turned its attention to Scott and charged towards him. Scott raised up his Street Saber to try and block each blow the robot was giving him and give in a couple strikes himself, but it was in vain as the Roto Bot changed tactics and fired the energy saws at him sending the Red Ranger flying back.
"Take this!" Summer yelled as she released the Zip Charger at the attack bot. The little remote zoomed around making multiple jumps at the bot only to bounce harmlessly off each time and then kicked away in annoyance by the Roto Bot.
"Try this!" Flynn stood his ground as he fired the Turbo Cannon at the robot. Each shot deflected off and hit everything else except the bot.
"Look out!" Scott shouted as they dived out of the way as the Roto Bot fired a spiral beam of energy from the drill on its head. The beam flew past and drilled through an overturned bus and into a corner side deli restaurant. They stood up as the Roto Bot buzzed a noise of showing it would win over the Rangers. "Ok guys, let's combine weapons." Flynn and Summer joined their weapons with Scott's Street Saber to form the Road Blaster. "Road Blaster! Engine cell activate, target locked! Fire!" The blast fired out to hit the Roto Bot, it held its arms in front of it as the blast harmlessly bounced off.
"It didn't work." Flynn gasped. Gem and Gemma jumped in next to them.
"Let us have a try." Gemma stated.
"Sky Shift Blazers!" Gem shouted as he and his twin fired their weapons at the Roto Bot. Like with the Road Blaster the blasts didn't have any effect.
"Together!" Scott yelled. "Road Blaster! Sky Shift Blazers!" The Road Blaster and the Blazers fired at the same time. At first it seemed it was working, but a minute later all three blasts flew off in different directions with the Roto Bot appearing undamaged. It glowed a bit before growing to gigantic size. Scott brought his morpher out, "Doctor we're going to need help."
"Down morphing your Zords." Her voice replied.
"Let's do it!" He nodded to the others and they nodded back. Scott, Flynn, and Summer formed the High Octane Megazord while Gem and Gemma flew in with the Mach Megazord. The Roto Bot closed in on the first Megazord swiping the weapons on its hands across the chest and blocking each strike of the High Octane's sword. The Mach Megazord stood back and fired its payload, all the lasers reflected off while the missiles did no damage to the robot. The Roto Bot fired off its spiral beam at the two Megazords, the Mach Megazord tried to fly out of the way but not successfully as the beam cut through one of the wings.
"We're going down." Gem alerted from his cockpit seat as the Mach Megazord spun in midair before falling down onto the street below. The spiral beam continued onward pushing into the High Octane Megazord, overloading its systems.
"We're going to lose the Zords." Scott groaned as he tried to keep the Megazord together before the power of the attack forced the Megazord to fall apart back into their separate individual Zords. The Lion Hauler fell onto its side and skidded along the street until coming to a stop. The Bear Crawler was tossed into the air and the came back down and slammed through framework of a building under construction. Scott's Eagle Racer tried to fly, but the power of the Roto Bot's beam attack short circuited its systems as it collided back and forth between two buildings before finally landing on its hood.
"This isn't good." Flynn groaned as he crawled out of the cockpit seat of his Zord. "Scott? Summer you alright?"
"I'm alright." Summer replied back in a pained voice as she pulled herself out of the crater her Zord made when it crashed into the construction zone.
"Never better." Scott added in as he rolled out from the wreckage of the Eagle Racer. "Gem, Gemma are you there?"
"We're fine Scott, but we're going to be offline for awhile." Gem replied.
"We threw everything at that Venjix bot and not a scratch." Gemma pointed out.
"Rangers all of your Zords took heavy damage and will take some to repair in the bio-field. The Mach Megazord is crippled and unable to fight." Dr. K explained
"Aye tell us something we don't know." Flynn grumbled.
"I may have an answer Ranger Blue, stand by." Dr. K reported back. The sound of mammoth and a train combined came to their ears. They all turned and saw the Paleozord soaring through the air before coming to street level and zooming right at the Roto Bot. It tried to damage the Zord with its energy saws which bounced off as the Paleozord slammed right into the attack bot sending it flying back. "Receptors synched for the Paleozord."
"A sight for sore eyes I must say." Flynn laughed.
"Want to go for a ride Red?" Dr. K asked.
"Music to my ears Doc." Scott agreed as he jumped into the cockpit. "PaleoMax Megazord online. This thing is great."
"Rangers I managed to home in on Ranger Black and Green's signals. They're coming from a steel mill in the industrial district." Dr. K reported. "Ranger Red you're all clear to go."
"I'll head to the steel mill to see what happened to them." Flynn looked over at Summer who nodded.
"See you soon." She replied as she looked up as the PaleoMax Megazord got ready to battle the Roto Bot.
(Steel Mill)
"Now if you don't mind me asking Ms. Tenaya, may I call you Ms. Tenaya? Yes? No?" Ziggy asked as he was chained to a pole in the foreman's office which rested above one of the loading dock warehouses. His morpher rested on a nearby desk while she leaned against it arms crossed and staring at him with a blank expression. At her lack of response, he continued. "Well I know since you're first encounter that you and Dillon have formed this fierce rivalry with each other. He always ignores the Grinders and attack bots and goes for you. And you always ignore the other Rangers and go for him, why is that?"
"I'm not sure." She shrugged her face as it took a solemn expression. "It's just something that happened."
"I mean you developed this obsession with his destruction, the last time you two fought, you were on the warpath against him." Ziggy continued.
"It's something you wouldn't understand." Tenaya muttered as she looked out of the office window and smiled. "Right on time." Ziggy knew from what she said that Dillon had arrived. She walked out of the office and stood on top of the stairway that went to the office. "I see you finally made it."
"I don't have time for games, where's Ziggy?" Dillon growled as he walked past an overturned ladle.
"Right behind me." She motioned with her thumb as she walked down the stairs and was no on equal ground with him.
"Why are you doing this, you're my sister." Dillon asked almost sadly.
"Oh well now you realized it." Her reply had taken on an almost sarcastic tone than it went angry and harsh, "Well it's simple dear brother. To save your own sorry hide, you abandoned me!" She accused as they started to circle around each other.
"What? I didn't…" He gasped back.
"Yes you did! You saw my blindness as a hindrance and you left me behind to fend for myself to save yourself! You knew I was blind, you knew!
"No! I tried to save you, I tried to pull you out…" He started.
"Stop lying!" She screamed as she shook her head not wanting to believe his words. And in an almost inhuman speed that he couldn't properly react to as she rushed up to him and jammed her knee hard into his abdomen and flipped him. While the motion had nearly knocked the wind out of him, Dillon managed to find enough strength to roll himself out of the way as her fist slammed into the ground in the spot where'd been before rolling away. He looked up and saw her stand back up and point her hand blaster in his direction. "You better make peace for what you did, because I won't feel sorry when you're gone."
(Downtown District)
"You're going down!" Scott declared to the Roto Bot. It's response was revving up the drill on it's forehead and rush towards him. "Full power!" The PaleoMax Megazord spun and kick with the t-rex foot. The mouth clamped down chomping off the Roto Bot's drill. "It's distracted, time to bring in some help."
"Road-Attack Zord down morphing." Dr. K's voice came through. The Zord appeared out of thin air and switched from wheel mode to warrior mode, delivering a flying kick to the Roto Bot. The attack bot was sent flying back, it took back up and fired the energy saws which the PaleoMax deflected away with a swing of its arms.
"You're history!" Scott shouted as the Road-Attack Zord went back into wheel mode and placed itself into the launching ramp and started spinning in place. He maneuvered the PaleoMax behind it and charged energy into the right fist of the Zord, before punching the wheel. The Road-Attack Zord zoomed forward and it slammed into the Roto Bot, damaging and chipping it away its frame. The attack bot stumbled back with sparks and electricity shooting out of its frame. "Time to finish this." He charged up the Zord's fist again and rushed forward slashing the Roto Bot while it was disoriented from the last attack. Even more sparks and electricity fired out from the bot in all directions before it fell over and blew up in a fiery explosion. Down on the ground Summer, Gem, and Gemma were cheering.
"I'd hate to cut the victory short Rangers, but I'm detecting irregularities at the steel mill." Dr. K interrupted.
"Right Dr. K, we're on our way."
(Steel Mill)
Dillon dodged out of the way as Tenaya fired her hand blaster in his direction as he took cover behind a ladle.
"Ranger Black I'm detecting your BPM is rising." Dr. K's voice emerged through his morpher.
"Not now doc." Dillon growled as he dived to another overturned ladle for cover.
"You can't hide forever." Tenaya's voice called out as energy blast burned a hole through the ladle he was using for cover.
"Wait let's talk about this." He tried to reason as he ran forward with a flurry of punches and kicks.
"There's nothing to talk about." She growled back as she tripped him
"I don't want to fight you anymore." He rolled out of the way and back on his feet.
"Than this will be easy." She shot back as she leaped into the air and kicked him right in the chest. He went flying back crashing through the doors.
"Tell me one thing." He got back and started moving backwards then ducked as an energy blast flew over him and hit a ceiling light fixture. "Why did you save me in the forest?"
"What?" She stopped.
"You knew I was at the mercy of the creature. You could of let it destroy me, but you didn't."
"I…" She stopped as she was confused by the issue, but her angry resolve returned, "Stop avoiding the matter." She fired back at him as she fired another blast which caught him in the shoulder. He groaned in pain and grasped the area where he was hit. Standing back up, he continued to move backwards reaching into a larger room of the mill where ingots of steel were entering a rolling mill. Tenaya kept firing while he barely managed to avoid each shot as the walkway he was standing on above the rolling mill was narrow.
Back at the foreman's office, Flynn jumped in and saw Ziggy chained up to the pole.
"Ziggy, where's Dillon?" Flynn got to work on getting the chains off of the other Ranger.
"It was a trap set by Tenaya, they went off to another part of the mill." Ziggy replied back.
"Alright, you stay here and wait for the others. I'm going after them." Flynn ran back down to the main floor, the sounds of blaster caught his attention and he followed the direction they were coming from. He eventually entered the blast furnace with multiple catwalks going around and on a large circular tank in the middle of the room. On the highest level catwalk, he saw Tenaya and Dillon.
Up on the catwalk, Tenaya kept pressing forward while Dillon kept walking backwards with his eyes still trained on her. Memories came to his mind of when they were playing as children, before she went blind. They were playing around a big tree in the backyard of their home, remembering climbing up a makeshift ladder to a tree house that was built for them. "Don't you remember when we played near that big tree with the tree house?" he asked. Tenaya paused for a moment to think of what he said, shaking her head and gritting her teeth as if trying to get the memory out of head.
"What happened then doesn't matter what happens now!" She replied back fiercely, cursing him for trying use something from their childhood to try and save time or spare his life.
"This isn't like you, remember who you were." He tried pleading again.
"It's not the past I'm worried about, it's the future." Tenaya shot back as kicked him, disorienting him a little bit.
"Dillon!" Flynn shouted. His voice caught both Dillon and Tenaya's attention. Dillon used the distraction and jumped over Tenaya, rolling to dodge another one of her blaster shots when her attention turned back to him. Now he was standing on more stable ground supported by pillars where as the part of the catwalk Tenaya was still standing on was supported by pipes sticking to the ceiling.
On the opposite end of the room, on an adjacent catwalk Kilobyte was watching the encounter happen. He raised up his rifle blaster and aimed it at Tenaya. "A pity really it has to end like this for Tenaya, but there can only be room for one top general for Venjix." He raised the power level of his rifle blaster to maximum power and fired. The force of the blast sent vaporized the pipes supporting the catwalk and multiple segments gave away and fell to the factory floor below, crashing with loud and heavy sounds. Tenaya screamed as the segment she was standing gave away and she caught onto the edge of one section, her fingers caught into the grating. She could feel her grip slipping and than it finally gave away as she lost her grip and started falling.
Dillon watched in horror as he saw his sister hang on for dear life, instantly memories flooded back to him.
"Soon you'll be one of us." Kilobyte stated as he stood next to the Sat Bot. He didn't care of what Kilobyte said,, in fact it made him want to get to her faster as his arm caught a Grinder in the neck and knocked it back as he continued charging forward to save her. "You're too late." He taunted as the Grinders that were holding her tossed her into the basin. His heart stopped as he heard her scream as he dived and caught her hand before she fell in.
"Don't let go." He strained as held onto her hand with his.
"I can't hold on." She cried back as her grip was slipping.
"Thanks for the memories Subject D44." He heard the Sat Bot taunt alongside of Venjix turning his red eye to stare at him while laughing evilly.
"No!" He shouted as the Grinders grabbed and pulled him, forcing him to let go of his sister's hand. He could hear her screams as she fell down into the basin.
"No!" Dillon shouted as he dived forward and caught Tenaya's right hand with his before she fell all the way to the bottom of the blast furnace. "Hang on Tenaya I got you." She could only look up at him with a confused and scared expression on her face. "Give me your other hand." He pleaded. She started to raise it up, but then let it drop. "I'm not going to let you go, not this time." Tenaya still looked up at him with a scared look in her eyes. It dawned on him that she was probably thinking he was going to let go again, but he wasn't going to let that happen. "Please."
It was that word as she raised her left hand and grabbed tightly to his right arm. "Don't let go." She pleaded. Dillon pulled back with all his strength as he pulled up and back onto the catwalk. He started breathing heavily as he fell onto his back while she landed on her stomach next to him. He stood up and helped her onto her feet, for a couple minutes neither said anything. Only stared at each other.
"Why did you save me?" She asked softly.
"You're my sister." He replied back.
"Dillon!" He could hear Scott's voice shout. He turned his head and he saw the rest of the Ranger team run up to them. Dillon noted that she unconsciously moved back behind him and he felt himself stand protectively in front of her.
"Are you crazy, why would you help her?" Scott asked.
"Because she's my sister." He replied back.
"But you're sister's." Gemma started.
"Blind." Gem finished.
"Of course, she's a hybrid. They must be robotic eyes." Flynn observed.
"So what are we going to do now?" Ziggy asked.
"We have to take her in." Scott said reluctantly.
"No!" Dillon shouted back.
"Dillon we have no choice, sister or not. She's been on Venjix's side since this all started, if we bring her with us you think everyone is going to forget that." Scott fired back.
"Come on let's figure out what to do once we get back." Summer tried to defuse the situation. Everyone relented to Summer's suggestion and they started the walk back to where their vehicles were parked. Along the way Dillon would look back and watch as Tenaya would keep her eyes focused on the ground as she followed him. Their morphers went off as they reached their vehicles.
"Go ahead doctor." Scott answered into his as the rest of the team circled around him listening in.
"Rangers I request your presence back here immediately." Dr. K ordered.
"Of course." Scott hung up. They all scattered to their vehicles with Summer joining Scott, Ziggy and the twins joining Flynn. Dillon turned out to look back at Tenaya only to see she wasn't there anymore.
"Tenaya…" He whispered softly, than raised his voice try call out and find her hoping she was still around and hadn't run off. "Tenaya!"
Well this was a long one to write, many times I just wanted to end it early and split this chapter into two parts like I did earlier with chapters 6 and 7. Well we finally got up to the point where both Dillon and Tenaya know and acknowledge each other as brother and sister. There were some parts in this chapter I thought that could've gone more smoothly when writing them, but I am happy with it overall. Originally there was going to be a chapter before this involving a conspiracy theory, murder, and it would introduce Fresno Bob into this story. I decided not to do it as I was not happy with how it turned out, and didn't feel very Power Rangers like throughout the whole chapter so I cancelled that plot idea for this fanfic out.
