Chapter 13: Jester's Game

After the fight and hopefully the last destruction of Myotismon Davis was taken to Older Izzy's lab. He was still out cold and was laying against a bed without his shirt and had pads sticking to his chest and head. He began to wake up and looked around and saw all of the others were there.

"Hey Davis is waking up." Veemon said and they gathered around him.

"What happened?" Davis said, but sounded weak and tired.

"You actually destroyed Myotismon Davis." Tai said. Then Older Izzy and Older Joe came walking up to him.

"How you feeling kid?" Older Joe said.

"Like someone just woke me up after I was taking a deep sleep." Davis said.

"That's natural, you were hurt and used up some energy." Older Izzy said.

"After the fight we found you guys and saw you were all hurt. So while Izzy's been doing research I've been checking your body for any physical damage." Older Joe said.

"How long have I been out?" Davis said.

"Almost a week. Are you okay?" Tai said.

"I think so." Davis said as he tried to get up.

"Don't get up Davis." T.K. said.

"You still need your rest." Yolei said.

"My older self also needs you to do some research." Izzy said.

"Research on me, why?" Davis said.

"What was the last thing you remember?" Sora said.

"I'm not exactly sure. Everything happened so fast, it's all a blur." Davis said.

"You don't know how right that is." Gomamon said.

"You changed into this armor that made you move like lightning." Matt said.

"Armor?" Davis said. Then he began to remember. He changed into two different armors that gave him power similar to Flamedramon and Raidramon. "I remember now. How did I do that?"

"Based on what I can tell your friendship towards Gatomon and your courage to stand against Myotismon, even if it meant costing your life, triggered something in your digieggs." Older Izzy said. "I would need further research, but it's clear there's more to the digieggs than we all thought."

Joomoe

"It seems that Myotismon has failed me. You are at a higher level. Do you think you can finish what he could not?" Joomoe said as he was talking to Piedmon for he was brought back with Myotismon.

"Don't worry I will." Piedmon said. "By the way you're always in front of that geyser. You're nothing, but a shadow to me. Might I see what you really look like if you step out of the light."

"I prefer to stay close to this power so that I may control it how I want." Joomoe said. "Now do not waste my time with requests. Find the digidestine and bring out Davis' and Ross' full strength and if anyone gets in your way, destroy them."

Izzy's Research Lab

Older Izzy still continued to do his research on Davis while Older Joe still treating his wounds. Kari and Gatomon stayed behind to look after him with Veemon.

"Kari you don't have to stay here." Davis said.

"I know I just want to and help you out after what you did for Gatomon." Kari said.

"Yeah helping you is the least we can do." Gatomon said.

"I'll get you some water." Kari said as she went into a fridge.

"You know I think you're winning her over." Older Joe said.

"You think?" Davis said.

"Yeah Kari stayed here every night just waiting for you to wake up." Veemon said.

"She did that for me?" Davis said and started getting happy. Kari came back and gave him a glass. "Hey Kari what are the others up to?"

"Well Ross went to meet with my older self and Koji in the digital world." Kari said, but then something in her head was telling her that something was wrong. "That was weird."

"What's wrong?" Gatomon said.

"I'm not really sure." Kari said.

The Digital World

Older Kari and her son Koji were in the digital world with him and his partner Salamon playing around. Then she noticed Ross with Aquamon and Gotsumon coming.

"Hi Ross glad you could make it." Older Kari said.

"Hey Kari." Ross said.

"How's Davis?" Older Kari said.

"Well he managed to wake up, but he's still taking it easy. How's yours since he got hurt too?" Ross said.

"Nothing serious and he's doing fine." Older Kari said.

"Hi Ross." Koji said as he ran up to him.

"Hi Koji. Look I'm glad that you invited me, but I want to know why." Ross said.

"Oh Koji just wants to know what you're younger self is like. Since your younger self is here he thought why not ask you." Older Kari said.

"Oh so you want to know about Ross?" Gotsumon said and Koji nodded.

"You are his godfather in the future and he does look up to you." Older Kari said.

"Yeah what's it like seeing your older self? Did you ever have a girlfriend? When did you get into writing?" Koji kept asking and asking questions.

"Okay Koji take it easy." Ross said.

"Keep asking questions at that pace and my head is going to start spinning." Aquamon said. As they were having their talk Piedmon was up in the trees.

"Interesting that the child of the digidestine I once knew has a child of her own." Piedmon and turned his attention to Ross. "Joomoe said that Myotismon was destroyed because Davis somehow formed armor. If this one can do the same he won't catch me off guard."

"Okay Koji I know you have like a hundred questions, but you got to give a guy a break every now and then." Ross said.

"I'm sorry." Koji said.

"Don't be sorry." Gotsumon said.

"Yeah who knows how long we'll be in the future so you can ask questions some other times." Aquamon said.

"Yeah speaking of which we still need to figure out how you and the rest are going back to the past." Gatomon said. Then heard a rustle in the trees and looked around trying to find it.

"What's the matter?" Aquamon said.

"I heard something." Gatomon said. Then she started hearing more rustling sounds. "There's something here. It keeps jumping from tree to tree."

"Everyone be quiet." Ross said as they all tried to listen. Piedmon was right above them kneeling on a branch holding up a dagger.

"Oh I just love to play with my toys until they break." Piedmon said. He tossed his dagger and it was heading for Ross. Gatomon saw it just in time.

"Look out." Gatomon said. She jumped up and pushed Ross down, but ended up getting cut on the shoulder. She hit the ground and was holding her shoulder.

"Where did that come from?" Older Kari said.

"Look up there." Aquamon said. They looked up and saw Piedmon as he started to stand on the branch.

"No it can't be. Not him too." Older Kari said.

"Hey I know you. You're that Piedmon Tai and the others told me about." Ross said. "By the way I don't like clowns."

"Yes I have returned." Piedmon said.

"Mommy who is he?" Koji said.

"How would you like to hear a story kid?" Piedmon said.

"Piedmon I doubt your story telling has improved that much." Older Kari said.

"Once upon a time there was a powerful digimon named Piedmon." Piedmon said telling his story. "He ruled the digital world until the digidestine destroy him. They thought they saw the last of him, but they were wrong."

"He must have been brought back by the same person that brought back by Myotismon." Gatomon said.

"You must mean Joomoe." Piedmon said.

"Koji listen to me. Run back to the digital gate, get one of the others, and get help." Older Kari said.

"Yeah you don't want to be around this guy. Just get out of here." Gatomon said.

"What about you?" Koji said.

"Koji listen to your Mom. Go get help." Ross said. Koji did what he was told and ran off with Salamon. "Alright Piedmon the circus is closing and it's time you leave with it."

"Oh, but the show has only just begun." Piedmon said and started to store electricity in his hands.

"Ending Snipe." Electricity was shout all around, but they took cover from it. Piedmon spotted older Kari and pulled out another dagger from his sleeve and tossed it at her. It ended up hitting her in the leg having her fall over.

"Kari!" Ross shouted.

"What do you want revenge?" Gotsumon said.

"Oh we'll get to that in due time, but right now a little boy seems lost. I better go find him" Piedmon said and started jumping from tree to tree.

"Oh no he's going after Koji." Ross said.

"Ross please go find him." Older Kari said.

"What about you?" Ross said.

"I'll be fine just go." Older Kari said. Ross agreed and ran off with his digimon.

"Come on guys we got to find Koji." Ross said.

"But Ross what are we going to do? Piedmon is a mega level." Aquamon said.

"That doesn't matter. We just have to find Koji before that psycho clown does." Ross said.

Koji

Koji and Salamon kept running to the digital gate, but Koji kept worrying about his mother and Ross that he kept looking back.

"Don't keep looking back Koji. I'm sure their fine." Salamon said. "Besides Gotsumon and Aqua are there."

"I know it's just that I've heard of Piedmon and he's a real meanie." Koji said.

"I know, but it takes more than that cut to keep Gatomon down." Salamon said. They kept on running until a pair of swords came down in front of them. They looked up to see Piedmon. "I can't believe he found us so fast."

"Now be a good boy and don't move." Piedmon said as he jumped down.

"You hurt my Mommy!" Koji said concerned and scared.

"Oh she's alive, for now anyway. Though by kidnapping you the digidestine will bow to me." Piedmon said taking out a sword.

"Where does he keep all of those?" Salamon said.

"Don't move this will hurt less." Piedmont said and Koji couldn't move from fear. Piedmon was about to slash at him, but Ross jumped in and got Koji out of the way, but ended up getting sliced on the back. When they slid on the ground Ross glared at him with determination to protect Koji and to stop this maniac.
