So this is the last one until my own spin on the finale, although I'm thinking I'll make an epilogue as well (I did put this in the M-rated category after all). This chapter is an Emma POV chapter since I haven't done much of her. Keeping fingers crossed for an awesome Swan Queen finale.
Charming led the charge out of the hospital with Robin and Hook on each one of his sides, while Emma and Regina followed shortly behind. Emma was still digesting everything that had happened, taking momentary glances between Regina and her hands still not entirely believing her magic was gone, and hoping that the woman walking beside her could forgive her for what she had done.
"My truck should hold all of us as long as the cold doesn't bother the two of you while riding in the back." David said to the men, not caring to hear their response as he stormed toward his truck.
"Why don't the three of you hop in the pickup and I'll take Regina in my bug so we all don't have to cram into one vehicle or get an ammonia." Emma suggested. She knew Robin and Hook wouldn't mind freezing their asses off as long as she and David got her brother back, but it was pointless to make them suffer when her car was only a few spots back.
"That's fine." David replied sternly, flinging his door open so fast it almost slammed back into him.
Emma hurried over to the passenger side door of her bug and opened it for Regina who slipped in more gracefully than ever. Once Emma closed her door, Regina reached over and unlocked the driver side, then placed her hands in her lap as Emma jumped into her seat, starting the Bug up as the door was still closing.
Neither woman spoke as they drove away from the hospital. Emma wanted to look over at Regina, but she was still so ashamed for letting Zelena take her magic. She had to say something though, she could hear Regina's breathing increasing as each minute passed, and she needed to do what she could to help calm and reassure Regina before facing her sister.
"You can do this." Emma said in almost a whisper as she kept her eyes on the road, but Regina still didn't respond. "Stop over thinking everything, just use that same love you had in you when you kissed Henry and everything will work out, I promise."
"You promise?" Regina repeating shaking her head as Emma took a quick glimpse over at her. "Making promises is dangerous Emma, especially when you have no control over the outcome."
"I'm sorry." The savior responded, hoping Regina could understand every part of her apology, but Regina was already moving on with the conversation.
"How did it happen?" She asked with confusion and sadness in her voice. "How the hell did you let Zelena take your magic?" Again Emma looked down toward Regina's feet, all the Savior's courage nowhere to be found.
"Let's just say Hook would have died if I didn't do what I did." Regina was now staring at her, completely still, and refusing to blink. Emma felt her eyes burning into her and swore she would start to melt away if they stayed on her for much longer that, but she still tried to put out the conversation. "Please don't make me say it."
"Why is it such a big deal on how she did it?" Regina countered, not giving in as the savior would have liked. "She took your magic, maybe there's a way I can restore it, I just need to know how it was taken."
"Zelena cursed Hook's lips." Emma let out before she had time to think her words through.
"His what?" Regina responded immediately, an obvious touch of repulse in her tone.
"It's not what you think. Zelena used the Dark One to try to drown Hook. If I didn't give him mouth to mouth he would have died."
"Why do you think she cursed his lips?" Emma was beginning to get as uncomfortable with this conversation as she expected she would be. At the same time, she knew Regina wouldn't stop the interrogation until she was told the whole truth.
"Apparently she thought I felt the same way he did. Then when I made it known that she had cast the curse on the wrong person's lips, the bitch forced my hand." Emma looked over, but Regina turned to avoid her stare. "I'm so sorry Regina. I couldn't let him die."
"I know," Regina replied softly.
"So, is there a way to get my magic back?"
"I don't know." Regina said, staring out the window. "And even if there was, there's no time now. I have to face Zelena on my own."
"I hated that I let you down." Emma started wanting to reach out to her, but didn't. "I could barely look at you in the hospital, and I can see that you're still disappointed by it all." Regina turned back to her, their eyes catching for a moment, before Emma was forced to look back at the road.
"Who's lips should she have cast the curse on?" Emma wanted to say that she was surprised by the question, but there was something about the brunettes behavior the last several days that made her think that Regina was feeling everything she was. Still, Emma couldn't quite get the words out and glanced over in her direction instead, causing Regina's breath to hitch. It was strange, the two of them were known for their snappy back and forth, but this was new territory for them and neither one knew how to continue the conversation and both brought their focus back to the road instead.
There was still some time before they made it to Zelena's, and the silence was not something Emma could deal with. She wanted to find the words to ask Regina how she felt about her, but knew it was probably smarter to wait until the whole mess with her sister was dealt with.
"You can do this." Emma said, breaking the sexual tension in the air.
"You said that already." Regina replied smiling over at her.
"I know, but l need you to believe that you can." Regina looked down as she moved her hands to her face, her nerves beginning to trickle over her brow.
"Not that I want to continue to sound like a broken record or anything here, but you used light magic when you kissed Henry. It's in you."
"Using it with Henry was unintentional. I don't know..."
"Stop," Emma ran in to cut her off before any more questionable negative energy left the brunettes mouth. "Stop thinking that you're not good enough. Henry believes in you, and so do I."
"You do?" Regina asked, her eyes watery as they met each others gaze once again. Emma smiled as she took in the beauty of the woman before her, not thinking it was possible for Regina to get even more magnificent with tears building up in her eyes, but she was.
"The Regina I've come to know and admire makes her own destiny. She chooses who she is and who she loves." The car stopped at its destination, but both woman were too caught up in each other to reach for the door handle just yet. Instead, Emma reached over and cupped Regina's cheek in her hand. "Don't you dare let anyone else tell you otherwise. This is your life, you chose who you are." Regina's mouth opened, but only air came out. Emma kept her hand on the brunette's cheek, and began to caress Regina's face with her thumb as time stood still. Emma wanted nothing more than to lean in and taste the voluptuous red lips staring back at her. Both their eyes flashing from each others gaze to the others lips, their desire filling the air in the bug before their reality hit them hard, both darting their heads forward to what was in store for them. They mimicked deep breaths as they reached for their door handles and exited the bug leaving everything they were feeling for each other in the car, until they returned.
As they made their way toward the others Emma looked over at Regina once more and smiled.
"Not to take away from my Savior speech back there with making your own choices and all, but I was thinking, we share a true love with our son." Regina looked over at her waiting for Emma to get to the point. "It's just interesting that's all. I wonder if there's more to it than that, that maybe we share something else with each other, other than our son and his love." Regina hummed, causing Emma to smile even brighter before they reached the others. One thing at a time, Emma said to herself as she prepared for the battle ahead of them. One thing at a time.
