Well, it's been a while! Sorry for being the worst updater in the history of updating, seriously wow it's been so long. I literally have no excuse, and for that I'm truly sorry :( but I'm back and with a wider vocabulary (well not really but let's pretend).
I didn't realise how much I missed TTAT, but I really really have.
So after a long, long, long break shall we get back to business? Enjoy x

Lily smoothed down her dress, staring at herself in the mirror. Marlene had helped her pick out the dress back in Hogsmeade; it was a simple deep emerald, that emphasised her curves and floated around her ankles, with a modest slit up the right side of her leg. Lily had never been one to obsess over clothes, but this dress was different, she felt confident, she felt beautiful, she felt ready to meet James' parents.

Lily took a deep breath, Mr and Mrs Potter hadn't been around the past few days due to a major lead on Voldemort's location. Every time she thought about the Potters, Lily was filled with gratitude at the risk they put themselves at to protect others. If she could protect the life of just one person from Voldemort and his deatheaters, then that would be worth everything and the Potters, they had saved so many. Lily placed one final detail, an emerald hair slide, into her curly chignon and rearranged some tendrils of hair. She was ready.

A small knocked echoed through her room from the connector door, James cracked the door open and peeked inside. "Crap, you're ready, I was hoping for just a dressing gown." he smirked wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. "Lils, you look just breathtaking, wow." She blushed and moved towards him.
"Thank you, Marlene picked the dress I just put it on and my hair, well Alice helped me with that." She blushed again, as she watched James' eyes travel across her, drinking in every detail. When he reached her face, James wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her towards him. "Mind my dress," she playfully scolded, "that was not cheap Mr Potter." James smirked and ran a thumb across her cheek, resting his hand lightly on her face.

"Lily Evans, I love you."

Lily smiled, she never tired of hearing those words leave his mouth. "I love you too, James, so much." James face split into a wild smile and he kissed her, his lips hungry against hers. Lily tangled her hands through his messy hair, whilst James held the back of her neck with one hand and exploring her body with the other; his hands ran down her sides, her shoulders, her back, her bum, everywhere he could reach as if memorising the feel of her. The feel of her dress on his skin, James never wanted to let her go. Their kiss deepened, both ravenous for more. Lily smiled against James' mouth, she could stay like this forever.

A knock sounded at the door and Lily and James, unwillingly, broke apart. "Come in." James called, and Wesley bowed through the door.
"Mister Potter, the guests have begun to arrive, as have your parents." Wesley squeaked. James smiled warmly at the elf,
"Thank you Wesley, I'll be right down." Wesley bowed again and left the room.

Lily looked at James, a smile wide on her face. James returned her grin, "Well Miss Evans, it appears we have some entertaining to do. To be continued." Lily continued grinning like an idiot, an idiot profoundly besotted with the boy in front of her.
"It appears we do, Mr Potter." Lily grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the door, to greet the masses congregating downstairs.

"Potter parties are legendary Evans, trust me, you'll never forget this one and the many more to come." James looked down at Lily, who smiled up at him, the breath almost knocked out of her from his comment. "Come on, we have some partying to do."

Lily watched as the guests waltzed around the grand ballroom, it was as if she had stepped into the Victorian times, everyone was in perfect time with the string quartet, which James insisted he hated them but she noticed him close his eyes as he allowed the music to wash over him. In the middle of the dance floor Marlene and Sirius were twirling manically, laughing hysterically, well she thought most people are in time. Lily smiled to herself and looked up at James, who was watching the dancers, his face filled with happiness. Lily couldn't believe how much she loved him.
"Lily!" James' father swayed towards Lily, his arms outstretched, grinning at her, "May I have the pleasure of this dance?" he asked, slurring slightly. Lily giggled, whilst James rolled his eyes and smiled lovingly at his drunken father.
"Of course, Mr Potter." she smiled, taking his hand.
"Call me Charlus, my dear girl." he said, guiding her to the dance floor. James watched Lily as his father, twirled her around her face filled with delight, charming Charlus Potter. Three songs later, Lily wobbled over to James and grabbed his arm for support.
"Woah your dad can dance, I need to sit down." Lily gave an exhausted breath and let James guide her to a quiet room. They sat on the sofa and she rested her head on James' shoulder; James stroked her hair, as Lily felt herself start to calm down.
"Lily?" James whispered. Lily looked up into the handsome face of her boyfriend, she smiled.
"Yes?"
James paused, "I really, really love you, you know." Lily nodded, she knew, she felt the same. The way her and James fit was hard to explain, she couldn't pinpoint the exact words of how she felt or emphasise how happy he made her. She reached up and gave James a soft, tender kiss on the lips, James knew what this meant. Lily felt the same. He smiled. "And I promise, that I will protect you no matter what. I love you and I never want to let you go Lily Evans, it's you and me- forever." Lily's eyes glistened, joy filled her face.
"James I-"

Screams suddenly filled the house, Lily and James bolted for the ballroom, pulling out their wands.
"JAMES!" Remus ran towards him, his dress robes torn. "They got in." James' eyes flashed with terror, but was quickly replaced by a steely determination and anger. Lily didn't understand what was happening; she followed James, Remus and the deafening yells to the ballroom. A battle appeared to be raging, the Potter's guests dressed in their finest robes battling dark, heavily cloaked figures.

Death Eaters.

Lily mind spun, how? How did they get in? The Potter's had cast every protection spell, tightening the security of their home. Hadn't they?

"LILY, MOVE." Lily registered the bellow cast in her direction just in time to dodge a disarming spell sent her way. She jumped to action, throwing hexes and spells towards the dark figures. James had joined his parents, throwing spell after spell, protecting his family. A wall seemed to form, protecting the weaker party guests and, it seemed, the Potters. Sirius was next to James, battling one on one with a Death Eater who had a particular determination, a malicious grin on his face- Avery. Lily was momentarily taken aback, Avery was a Death Eater, of course.

James continued to cast spells, anything that popped into his head. To his left he noticed Padfoot beginning to struggle slightly battling Avery, clearly it was Avery, who else hated Padfoot that much, enough to want to kill him. James knew who else, but dared not think it. He cast a spell, using as much power he could summon, Avery flung backwards, taking out a few Death Eaters behind him and lay unconscious on the floor.

"Nice one James!" Sirius yelled, moving onto the next target. James smiled, in the corner of his eye he saw a flash of green.

"Pads, I have to find Lily." James yelled.

"Go! We've got this covered, find her, keep everyone safe." He shouted back. "And Prongs, find Marlene." James nodded and darted behind the wall that had appeared without him noticing; he sprinted towards the reception room where he found Lily battling a Death Eater. Her hair had slipped out of place and sweat beaded her forehead as she furiously battled with her opponent. James moved towards them but was brought to a stop. The Death Eater didn't appear to be attacking Lily, each attacking spell she threw at him, he defended but never retaliated. Lily continued to cast spells.

"FIGHT BACK YOU COWARD," she screamed at the masked figure, "FIGHT BACK!" Lily's face reddened with anger and frustration, as she continued casting every hex she could think of. "HOW COULD YOU? AFTER EVERYTHING. HOW COULD YOU?" she shouted, each word emphasised with a spell thrown in his face.

Severus didn't fight back.

Lily collapsed to the floor. James rushed towards her, "STUPEFY!" he screamed at Snape, who flung back against the wall, where he slumped unconscious.

James held Lily as she cried.

"I can't believe him, h-he wouldn't fight b-back. The coward." Lily sobbed into his shoulder. James stroked her hair from her face, wiping the tears away.

"Lily, look at me," she looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, "we can't stop, we have to help the others, find Marlene, go back to your room and enchant the door, both doors." His voice was edged with desperation, pleading her to get to safety.

"No, I'm coming with you."

James sighed and pulled her up, "Come on, but stay close to me."

They ran back to the ballroom, wizards, witches, Death Eaters and even house elves fought one another. Lily looked at the madness in front of her, noticing some bodies lying on the floor. She shook her head, they weren't dead, they were simply unconscious, that was all. The battle raged on, as guests fought one on one with Death Eaters, the room lit up with spells. Lily moved towards Remus who was in a tight battle.

"Come on you filthy half breed, you can do better than that." Lily overheard his opponent sneer. Remus relentlessly flung spell after spell, until finally one hit the Death Eater squarely in the chest and he crumpled to the floor. Lily continued forwards, casting up shields to protect those around her who appeared to be battling more than one Death Eater at once. Flinging disarming charms in every direction. As she neared James, the Death Eaters vanished into thin air, Lily looked around confused as to why they fled, when she felt someone grab her arm and pull her to the shadows.

"Get off me!" she yelled, trying to pull her arm out of the strong but wiry grip.

"Lily."

Lily knew that voice, she turned and looked straight into the eyes of Severus. "Get off me." She warned, her voice dangerous. "I swear Snivellus, leave me alone."

"Lily, he knows about you, the Dark Lord. He knows about you, the talented Mud- muggleborn, top of her class at his beloved school, in a relationship with a pure blood. He knows about you and he wants you to join him, he thinks you have potential." Snape warned, his voice full of fear for the girl he loved.

"You can tell your Dark Lord, that I will never join him. I would rather die than swear loyalty to evil."

"Lily-" But Lily pulled her wrist free, Severus apparated, leaving her alone.

Sirius, James, Marlene, Alice, Frank, Peter, Lily and Remus all sat on the floor of Lily's bedroom. Marlene and Sirius were sat further away from everyone, talking quietly between themselves. Alice and Frank were sat in an embrace, which they had not broken for the last half hour, whispering how much they loved each other. Peter, Remus, Lily and James sat together, none of them speaking. A gloomy quiet had fallen throughout the Potter household, Dorea and Charlus had sent the Marauders, Lily, Marlene and Alice upstairs, so they could remove the bodies of guests, house elves and Death Eaters. Only three guests had lost their lives, four Death Eaters and five house elves.

James had held Wesley, as he died, in his arms.

James was right, Lily was never going to forget this party.
