Chapter 13
"Thank goodness for patio furniture season!" Nick exclaimed as he leaned back in the chaise lounge under the large striped umbrella in the seasonal section at Target.
Between the chaises and the large outdoor sofas, all arranged under umbrellas and around a large fire pit, the boys had it made. They found a Duraflame log and lit it in the fire pit, only after Boy Scout Blaine found a bucket of water and placed it nearby.
"We can't set the Target on fire," Blaine had chided.
They were all on different pieces of furniture, wearing lounge wear they had found in the men's department. Jeff and Nick were wearing matching Simpsons outfits, with the Duff Beer logo emblazoned on the shirts. Matt was wearing a John Deere set, presumably to assert his manliness, or to tout his lawn mowing skills, Blaine wasn't sure which it was. Blaine was wearing a vintage Beatles set, because he loved the Beatles.
And then there was Kurt. Kurt was upset that they only had pajamas in fleece or cotton. He wasn't into the themed designs, so he managed to find a plain maroon top and maroon white and black checkered bottoms. He had had a fit when Blaine suggested he wear the rubber ducky pajamas. Blaine had mostly suggested them to get a rise out Kurt though, and he had succeeded.
They had eaten some salad with the precooked chicken on top and had some ice cream for dessert. All of them had either a backpack or bag of some sort packed with clothing, first aid supplies, medicine and non-perishable food. They had taken the opportunity the night before to fully charge their phones again, even though none of them had any service. They were all ready to go.
They had hit a roadblock, though, on where they were going. Nick, who was very tech savvy, volunteered to go through Chuck's laptop to see if he could find the address of the bunker in upstate NY. Unfortunately, there was nothing. No key in Chuck's bag, no mail, no address, no pictures on Facebook, no tweets about it, and no Instagram pictures. They had hit a dead end and needed to regroup and think of another plan.
Jeff was curled up on a large sofa, in between Nick's legs, and let out a big sigh as he proposed to the group, "Well, we can't head off into upstate New York to an unknown place. Most of us have family west of here, why don't we try to head back towards our homes and see if we can find our families?"
Blaine nodded, "I was thinking the same thing. The other thing I was thinking is that we need a place to lay low if this asteroid should hit land. Ohio is a giant flat field, basically. There's not much shelter there if the asteroid hits land nearby and we have a nuclear war-like event. Granted, we shouldn't be effected by a tsunami, but I'm thinking we'll want to find a place to go underground."
From the chaise lounge next to Blaine, Kurt sat up and looked over at his fiancé. "Blaine, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
They both said at the same time, "The cave!" and then laughed at their synchronicity.
Chris raised an eyebrow and asked, "So do you want to let us in on this inside joke, you two?"
"Oh sorry," Blaine apologized, "We have a friend that is doing a photo shoot in a cave in Kentucky. I'm thinking he's still there and hopefully, they will let us inside to take shelter. It's a long shot, as we aren't on any lists of important people, but it's at least worth a try. It's better than hanging out in Ohio waiting to be nuked, don't you think?"
There were murmurs in the group as each of the other boys mulled over the idea.
"Who knows how many days we have until the big piece of asteroid hits us, and I know Jeff and Nick would rather be in California by then, but I don't think we have enough time to drive across the whole country. We still have to find a car," Blaine explained.
Finally, the group all agreed, Chris and Matt included. They didn't want to leave the group because, "safety in numbers" and the cave idea really did sound like the best place for them to take shelter.
Since it was after dark, they decided to try to get a few hours of sleep, eat breakfast and try to find a car. Target offered them the perfect spot to rest. It would have been better if they had a bedding department with beds, but the chaise lounges and couches would have to do.
Kurt excused himself to go grab another juice from the cooler. When he returned, he had a sly grin on his face and his hands held behind his back.
"Who wants to play Star Wars Uno?" He yelled as he revealed the deck of Uno cards from behind his back.
After a few heated games of Star Wars Uno, they all settled in for the night. Blaine folded the back of his couch down into a futon and Kurt joined him. They had a big comfy throw from the bedding department and two fluffy pillows. Kurt snuggled up next to Blaine and they faced each other, legs intertwined and foreheads touching.
Blaine whispered, "This is nice. This afternoon was almost normal."
"As normal as you can get living in a Target for a few hours," Kurt said, in a murmured voice.
"Well, yeah. Things will get better though and we will have our wedding. I promise."
"I know. I'm worried about Santana and Rachel. I'm sure they are together somewhere but it kills me that we have no way of getting in touch with them to make sure they're okay," said Kurt with a worried look on his face.
"I understand. I'm worried about them too, but it was hard enough trying to find you in that mess. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for them. Hopefully they're heading for Ohio too and we'll see them there."
"I'm curious how far this destruction has traveled. Were other parts of the country hit? We should dig out that emergency radio tomorrow while we're eating breakfast and see if it's broadcasting anything."
Blaine smiled, "That's a great idea. If it works we might have a better idea of what we're facing out there."
Kurt's eyes were getting heavy and Blaine could tell that Kurt was no longer listening to what he was saying. He leaned in and kissed him chastely on the lips. Then he whispered, "Goodnight, sweetie."
"Cookie Crisp is the bomb!" Jeff said as he shoveled another handful of the cookie shaped cereal into his mouth.
"You're so gross!" Nick teased. "We're supposed to be eating protein too so we have some energy."
Jeff flipped the box around to the side so he could read the nutrition facts. "Says it hass…crunch… 3grammms… crunch… of protein." Cookie bits spewed out of his mouth as he was talking.
"Aww geeze, now you have chewed cookie bits all over your new Green Lantern t-shirt!" Nick scolded.
Jeff just smiled, continued chewing and brushed the crumbs off his chest. "Good as new!" he proclaimed and then downed an entire juice box of Yoo-hoo, making an obnoxious slurping sound with his straw as he got to the end.
Nick just shook his head. "I'm dating a kindergartner."
Blaine fired up the emergency radio to see if there was anything broadcasting that might be useful to them. Kurt was still in the men's department trying to find something he'd deign to wear in public. In the meantime, Blaine had just grabbed a blue polo shirt and khakis and was good to go. Kurt was looking at scarves when Blaine finally left him to join the group under the patio umbrellas in the seasonal department.
The radio was as basic as it got; just a small plastic box with a crank on the side to give it power. There was a small speaker in the front and a volume and on/off button. At that moment, Blaine missed his iPod. He twisted the dial in search of some broadcast, but all he got was static.
"So, I'm either not doing this properly, or there is no emergency broadcast any more. Anyone else want to take a shot at it?" Blaine asked.
"I'll see if I can get it to work," Chris said as he walked over and took the radio from Blaine. "You'd think they'd be broadcasting something, even if it is just a recorded message on a loop."
"What if all the radio transmitting towers are out too? It wouldn't be able to broadcast anything if the towers are down," Nick suggested.
"Maybe," Chris replied as he twisted the dials.
Blaine sat cross-legged on the floor in front of a glass coffee table. Spread out before him was his very healthy breakfast that consisted of a hard-boiled egg, peanut butter, whole grain bread, grapes and apples. He was in the process of popping an apple slice into his mouth when he looked up and saw Kurt coming towards him. The apple slice never made it to his mouth and he sat there frozen with his arm halfway to his mouth that was hanging wide open.
"What's wrong, Blaine?" Kurt asked as he sat down on the floor next his fiancé, and stole a grape from him.
"Kurt, your outfit! How do you do it? You look impeccable. Where did you even find those clothes? In here? Did you bring them from home?" Blaine asked, dumbfounded.
"Accessories, Blaine, accessories," Kurt replied with an air of accomplishment.
Blaine and the guys just laughed. Leave it to Kurt to look like he just walked off a runway, even as the world was ending. Abandoning the idea of finding anything useful from the emergency radio, Blaine turned his attention to his wrist. He had kept it wrapped, and had iced it on and off last night. He took some pain killers this morning and it was feeling much better. The swelling had gone down too. It must have been a bad sprain and not a break. Just to be safe, Blaine had shoved a whole bunch of cold packs and painkillers in his bag for the road.
Remembering Jeff's leg, he asked him about it, "Jeff, how's your leg feeling?"
"Okay, better today now that Nick cleaned it all up and gave me some herbal antibiotics. I think it's infected and that's why it hurts so much."
Blaine reached in his bag and tossed Jeff a prescription pill bottle. "Here, it's actual antibiotics. They're left over from my wisdom tooth surgery. This should clear it up in a few days."
"Thanks, man. I'll only take as many as I need until this clears up and then give the rest back to you. I appreciate it."
Blaine grinned at his friend, "Anytime. I just hope it'll help you feel better."
Chris finally gave up on the radio and handed it back to Blaine for safe keeping. As they finished up their breakfast and made sure they had a cooler packed with some cold beverages and veggies for later, they grabbed their stuff and headed for the outside.
Still unsure about stealing a car, Blaine scanned the parking lot for a potential ride. There was one car at the far edge of the lot, but it was rusty and looked like it had a flat tire. That wasn't an option. They'd have to walk around a bit and see what they could find.
Kurt and Blaine led the way towards the main street that they walked in on as Nick, Jeff, Chris and Matt followed. Jeff was finally feeling well enough to walk unassisted today, even if he was a little slower than the rest of the group. At least it was better than having to use Nick as a crutch.
As they reached the main road, Blaine looked up and down to see what else was around them. There was a fast food place across the street from them with no cars in the lot, a bowling alley down to their right towards the bridge to New York, an empty bookstore and a frozen yogurt store. None of their lots had any vehicles in them.
In the other direction, Blaine saw that there was another strip mall with various stores in it, a few more fast food chains and in the distance, a car dealership. He couldn't see the parking lots of the strip mall or the restaurants to see if there were any cars parked there. Suddenly, as he stared at the big American flag hoisted on the flag pole high above the car dealership and an idea hit him. The CAR dealership!
"Okay, here's the plan. Let's head over to that car dealership and see what they have. Time to go car shopping, guys!" Blaine nearly skipped down the road towards the multicolored line of cars parked out front.
Once they arrived, they saw that the lot looked a bit picked over but there was still a lot of choices of cars left.
Nick looked at Blaine inspecting all the cars and asked, "Hey, Blainers, anyone know how to hot wire a car?"
Instantly, Blaine's happy facade faded. "I don't, no."
"They didn't teach you that in Boy Scouts?" Chris asked sarcastically.
"Hot wiring cars? Uh, No." Blaine retorted as he glanced sideways at Chris.
Kurt spoke up next, "Well, since someone seems to have already busted the window out of the door to the dealership, I'm guessing we can walk in and grab a set of keys. Maybe we try that first before we attempt hot wiring?"
Blaine heard the sass in Kurt's tone and just grinned. He loved that man. "Great idea, Kurt. Let's find a car we can fit in and try to find the keys."
The guys immediately scattered throughout the lot looking for a car. Nick was eyeing up a red 2-seater, convertible sports car. Jeff was just laughing at him and punching him in the arm. Chris found a large pick-up truck that had a quad cab but it still only sat 5 people. And they'd have to put the gear in the back area that was uncovered.
Blaine and Kurt found a large, black SUV with tinted windows, the kind they always saw celebrities getting out of in New York City. It sat 9 people and had room in the back for luggage. The gas mileage wouldn't be great, but at least this way they'd only have to take one car and upon closer inspection they found that the gas tank was full.
"Hey guys, check this one out!" Kurt yelled to the others.
The doors were open, so they climbed inside and looked around. The model they chose was fully loaded with a touch screen navigation system, sun roof, seat warmers and all the bells and whistles.
Nick whistled. "OOOOH wee! This is a nice one! I approve."
Jeff and the others agreed, so Blaine jotted down the VIN number to the car, grabbed Kurt's hand and led him inside to find the keys.
"You guys load up while we find the keys," Blaine called back to them as they headed into the showroom.
It was eerie how everything was deserted and it still gave him a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, as he headed towards the offices in search of the key cabinet. Kurt must have sensed his uneasiness because he gave Blaine's hand a squeeze and smiled reassuringly at him.
A few minutes later, they found the key safe, wide open, and located the keys to the car they had chosen. As Blaine turned around to leave, Kurt stopped him with a hand on his chest. Blaine looked down at Kurt's hand and then back up to his face, with a questioning look in his eyes.
"Shhh!" Kurt whispered in Blaine's ear as he pushed him onto the desk in the office and leaned over him.
The corners of Blaine's mouth tipped up in a sexy half grin as Kurt's lips claimed his in a kiss. Blaine was completely pinned down to the desk by Kurt's body and he could feel the heat coming from his fiancé.
"Mmmmmpfff, Kurt." Blaine said in slight protest. They really needed to get moving. The guys were already in the car, waiting for them.
Kurt, unaffected by Blaine's protests, licked Blaine's top lip with the tip of his tongue and parted his lips to further deepen the kiss. Blaine brought his hands up to Kurt's face. He really wanted to run his fingers through Kurt's hair, but he knew Kurt would kill him, so his hands always ended up cupping Kurt's face while they kissed.
The icky feeling in the pit of Blaine's stomach had been replaced by a growing heat as he felt Kurt's hips press against him. Blaine's breath caught in his throat and he gasped as Kurt moved his mouth down to his jawline and then to his neck, kissing and sucking as he went. Thinking it was probably a pen that was poking him in the spine, Blaine shifted slightly, causing his hips to rise and meet Kurt's. A fine sheen of sweat was forming on Blaine's brow as he continued to be seductively assaulted by Kurt's mouth.
Kurt got the response he was looking for from Blaine as he continued to grind against him on top of the desk. He knew how much the idea of taking a car upset Blaine. The man was one of the nicest, most genuinely good people he knew and even thought the circumstances warranted them taking the vehicle, he knew Blaine was freaking out about it.
Feeling Blaine's hand move from his face, to the back of Kurt's neck to pull him in closer, Kurt let more of his weight press against Blaine. Kurt whispered softly, soothing, sentiments in Blaine's ear as he let his one hand roam down the exposed skin on Blaine's arm, leaving him to support his own weight with just his other arm.
"I love you Blaine, and I can never get enough of your body. I just want to all of our moments together to last forever."
Goosebumps instantly formed on Blaine's skin in the wake of Kurt's fingers and Kurt smiled, loving the effect he was having on Blaine. He didn't plan on stopping until he knew Blaine was nice and stress free and he could still feel Blaine's legs flailing a little beneath him. He wasn't fully relaxed yet. Deciding to get a little more aggressive, Kurt moved his mouth back up to claim Blaine's as his roaming hand moved to the gap between Blaine's shirt and pants. It had come untucked when he bent Blaine over the desk and he took that opportunity to run his fingers lightly over his abs.
"MMmmm… tickles," Blaine murmured.
Kurt rolled to the side a little, supporting himself on his raised elbow and shifted his other hand from Blaine's abs to the top of the fine line of hair at the base of his bellybutton. Kurt could feel Blaine react to his touch through his kiss. It got more demanding as Blaine's tongue twisted over Kurt's.
Blaine was such a spectacular kisser in every way. Kurt loved how he started out slow and sweet and got more demanding. A few times, when they were trying to sneak in a quick make out session before roommates got home, Kurt would encourage him to be more demanding and Blaine didn't disappoint. He had had Kurt pinned to the couch as he grabbed the back of his neck and bit, licked and sucked at his lips, finally delving into Kurt's mouth with his tongue. Kurt had to get used to reigning in his self-control so they weren't always ending up naked on the couch when Sam or Rachel walked in.
Determined to get Blaine relaxed on top of a desk in an abandoned car dealership, he gently sucked Blaine's top lip into his mouth while running his tongue gently over it. His efforts were rewarded with the feeling of Blaine's erection growing in his pants, pressing against Kurt's hip. Kurt was still running his fingers over the line of soft hair, reveling in the feeling of Blaine's abs tightening beneath his curious touch. Because he knew how much Blaine was turned on, Kurt decided to see how far he could push their make out session and he lowered his hand to lightly rub the bulge in Blaine's pants.
"God, Kurt. Yes!" Blaine said, only briefly breaking the kiss to voice his approval of where they were headed.
Blaine's body was getting a little more relaxed, but Kurt was way too turned on to think about ending it just yet. He massaged Blaine's now hard cock through far too many layers of clothes and got satisfaction from the way Blaine's hips rocked up to meet him.
Kurt pushed it further, opened the top button on Blaine's khakis, and slid his hand under the waistband to feel him without all the layers of material between them. Blaine immediately broke their kiss, threw his head back and moaned. That was enough to encourage Kurt to take it just a bit further. Blaine was almost completely lost in the feeling from Kurt's hand on him, so Kurt leaned over and kissed Blaine's exposed neck. His tongue licked Blaine's pulse point in a pattern similar to one he'd use to lick Blaine a little further down his body. He teased him with his mouth, getting Blaine's mind prepared for the feeling he was going to mimic somewhere else soon.
Blaine was panting and moaning and trying to twist his body so that he could get more friction from Kurt's hand. Suddenly, Kurt stopped everything he was doing with his hand and mouth and pushed himself up and over Blaine again. Reeling from the lack of stimulation, Blaine looked up and into Kurt's beautiful blue eyes.
Once he had Blaine's undivided attention, Kurt gave him the most seductive grin he could muster, Blaine's eyes widening in anticipation, and then he moved his feet onto the ground so he could line himself up better. Blaine lifted himself up onto his elbows so he could see what Kurt was up to next.
Kurt reached into to Blaine's still open khakis and pulled just the tip of his cock out, as he lowered his head and kissed the tip. Blaine shuddered and gave his hips a wiggle to encourage Kurt for more. Kurt was so turned on now that he had completely lost track of how long they had been in the office, nor did he really care. All he could focus on was making Blaine writhe underneath him and beg for more.
His tongue gently licked Blaine's head and trailed a line down until he met the fabric of Blaine's pants, and then he licked back up. As he was closing his warm mouth over the top and getting ready to take Blaine's full length into his mouth, he swore he saw something moving out of the corner of his eye.
"AHEM!"
Kurt didn't stop. He took Blaine all the way into his mouth and sucked hard. It wouldn't be the first time they were interrupted by someone and maybe if he gave them the show they wanted, they wouldn't be so apt to bother them in the future.
Blaine had to shake his head to clear it, and concentrate on what was happening. It was hard when Kurt had him sheathed completely in his mouth. He managed to throw his head back over the desk to see which of his friends had interrupted them.
"Do you need help finding the keys?" Nick asked with a smirk.
Of course it was Nick that found them. That man had a sixth sense for catching him and Kurt making out. Kurt hadn't even skipped a beat, and continued to run his tongue up and down Blaine's shaft, while keeping it completely covered with his mouth. As much as he didn't want Kurt to stop, if he let him continue, he suspected Nick would stay to watch the whole thing. Nick's presence did nothing to quiet his arousal, but he really didn't want him around to watch him scream Kurt's name as he came.
"No, we got the keys. We were just on our way out when I tripped over this desk and Kurt decided to help me up," Blaine said chuckling.
"Oh, I thought maybe you dropped the keys in your pants and Kurt was trying to help you find them." Nick just laughed and shook his head, but he didn't turn around to leave the office. Kurt was not stopping and Blaine was getting closer to climaxing. He needed to get rid of Nick.
"We're coming!" Blaine said, emphatically, "Now, get out of here!"
"I can see that," Nick said as he just stood there with his arms crossed, watching Blaine squirm as Kurt continued to go down on him. His own pants were getting a little tight from the sight of Kurt's bravado. The man didn't even bat an eye when he heard Nick walk in and he was quickly working Blaine towards his climax. He wondered if Kurt was really going to go through with it while he was still in the room.
Kurt heard Nick and he didn't care. The world could end in a few seconds and he was past the point of caring if Nick saw him get Blaine off, but he needed this to end soon because the longer Nick stood there, the more uncomfortable Blaine would become. Because he knew Blaine's body so well, Kurt knew just what it would take to push Blaine over the edge.
As he sunk down further on Blaine, drawing him even deeper into his mouth and throat, Kurt reached down with his other hand and gently rubbed Blaine's sac. Blaine's hips rutted up, forcing him even further into Kurt's throat, but Kurt had anticipated that and was ready for it. He sucked hard as he ran his tongue over the length of Blaine. After a few more seconds, Kurt felt Blaine tighten and twitch and knew he was close.
"Fuuuuuuck… Kurt!" Blaine yelled, his voice raspy as he came down Kurt's throat.
Kurt didn't stop until he felt the last shudders leave Blaine's body and felt him get limp in his mouth. Not that it mattered at that point, but Kurt quickly popped his mouth off Blaine's cock and tucked him back into his boxer briefs and khakis. He looked up and Nick was still in the doorway, mouth agape, with his hand gripping what must have been an uncomfortable erection in his jeans.
"Shit, that was hot!" Nick exclaimed as he turned around and tried to adjust himself. "I can't believe Jeff missed that. He'll be pissed that his leg hurt him too much to join me in my search for you too. No worries, I'll just have to demonstrate it for him later."
Blaine wanted to be angry, but was too blissed out to really muster any rage towards his friend. "You're a jerk, Nick. Seriously. I'm worried about this fetish of yours."
"I mean turnabout's fair play. I let Kurt watch me and Jeff going at it on the stairs in that building"
"LET ME?" Kurt shrieked.
"You know you enjoyed that, Hummel. Don't lie!" Nick said, punching Kurt lightly on the arm as the three of them left the showroom.
When they all got in the car, Jeff asked, "Is everything okay? What took you guys so long? We were getting worried."
"Blaine lost the keys and Kurt was helping him find them," Nick winked, "You know like the time we lost the keys when we were supposed to be at your mom's house for dinner after having watched the most recent episode of Looking? Blaine was a little shaken up about losing the keys, just like you were, but Kurt calmed him down. We're all good to go now!"
Jeff wrinkled his nose and asked, "Um, so were you helping them find the keys, or?"
"Nope, I just walked in at the end when they finally found them."
A/N- Thanks to Kelly for encouraging me to spice it up a little. That girl loves her Niff, so expect some Niff nuttiness in the next chapter. And as always thanks to her for helping to review it.
WHAT ABOUT THAT KISS? Jesus… talk about inspiration for writing. How many times have you all watched it over and over and over in slow motion? It's okay to admit it… I just have it up on one of my tabs on my laptop to stare at every so often.
Can you believe it? I'm on a roll now with the updating. February should be the same way, so thanks for following along! Thanks for the reviews and the feedback. I can't thank you enough for reading it. Makes my day. xoxoxo
