Dragons, Magic and Secrets
%%%Dios POV
Groan~…
Why is it now a days I always find myself waking up exhausted?
Oh wait, I forgot. I'm the "Trident Dragon" now. That explains a lot.
I crack my eyes open a bit to find myself looking up at a wood ceiling, a familiar wood ceiling. I'm back in the shop. How did I get here? All I remember is fixing Jake up then…nothing.
I guess I passed out or something. I should really just assume I do from now on if I end up here.
By now my eyes have fully adjusted to the new lighting. I turn my head over and look out to the shop. I see Fu sitting on the floor with a few books around him in stacks.
"Fu?" I groan out.
Fu turns his head to looks at me and gives me a smile. "Hey Kid, your finally awake I see." He gets up and walks over to me. "How ya feelin?"
I sigh and sit up, having some difficulty with the stiffness in my muscles. The warm wool blanket covering me slid off part of my chest, hanging down off of my left shoulder. "Stiff, tired, hungry, you know, how I usually feel when I wake up here." I said, giving him a grin.
He gives a light laugh. "Glad to see your sense of humor hasn't changed. You sure you alright though? You don't feel…strange?" he questioned.
"Uhhh, other than being a bit stiff, not really. Why do you ask?"
"Well kid, you kinda are-"
"Oh this is just so Nasty! Blah!" Fu was cut off by the loud, whining voice of Jake. I look over to where the voice came from to see Jake walking out of the bathroom with a toilet brush wrapped up in his…tongue?
Ok, that is nasty.
Jake throws the toilet brush back into the bathroom with a flick of his tongue. He brushed it off for a sec before turning to see me up.
"Oh Dio, you're ok." Jake said with a smile as he walked over.
I avert my gaze from him to the blanket as he steps closer. "Yeah…" I answer simply.
I could see out of the corner of my eye that he was giving me a puzzled looked. "Yo, what's up? Why do you look all sad?"
I fidget with the blanket a bit before answering. "A-are you ok, Jake?" I say quietly.
"What do you mean? Of course I'm ok."
"…I mean about your…wings. Are they ok?"
The look of pity soon washed over his face, I could tell, I've seen that look far too much. But who could blame him? I'd probably do it to if I knew I hurt a friend. Badly might I add.
I then heard Jake laughing a bit. As I lift my head, I could see the look of pity turned into a look of relief.
"Dio, you don't need to worry about them, they're all fixed up now." Brilliant blue flames rippled through the air behind Jake and as they die down, Jakes big red wings emerged, looking as if they were replaced with brand new wings. (using season 2 fire because it looks nicer :3 ) "See? All better." He said giving me a toothy grin.
"W-what? But how? They were torn and ripped a-and-"
"Gramps and Fu fixed up a potion last night to repair my wings as if they were never hurt in the first place. " Jake cut me off. He reached his hand out and rubbed my head between my horns, just like my dad would do to me when I had nothing to worry about. "Even so, I don't blame you for what happened. I know you didn't do it intentional, you were being controlled. So lighten up man! You can't mope over every bad thing that happens. Come on, put a smile on, the trouble is over now, so no worries K?"
"I…Jake I…" I was speechless, absolutely speechless. Jake, after everything that's happened, isn't angry at me. He isn't holding anything against me. He's actually just telling me to forget about it not to worry, just like a true friend would do.
I look up to him and give him a big smile. "Thanks Jake. For everything."
Jake lifts his hand off my head and gives me a playful punch to the shoulder. "Don't worry bout it. Now, Gramps told me once you wake up that he wanted to talk to you about everything that's happened and stuff. Are you feeling well enough to get up?" He asked as his wings disappeared in the same blue fire.
I stretch out a little bit more and hear some pops from my back. "Yeah, I think I'm good. Where's Gramps?" I ask as I look around for him.
Fu walks up with a few books piled in his hands. "He's up on the roof. He's been up there since this morning. By the way, take these up to him Jake. "Fu said as he handed Jake a few nameless and dusty books.
"Aw man, more of them? I already brought like a hundred books up there. How many more does he need?" Jake whined.
"Lucky for you, these are the last of them, now hop to it kids. Don't want to keep the old man waiting." Fu said as he headed for the stairs.
"Ok." I say as I get up. The blanket fully falls off me after I take my first step and I can feel that something was very different about me. As I look down to my body, I just wanted to scream my head off.
My body changed. AGAIN!
I examine over my new appearance, I could easily tell that I was now more dragon then I was before. I now have 2 clawed hands instead of one with the scales reaching up to my shoulders. My chest was covered in new, even patches of dark purple scales. I'm guessing there different because there the underbelly. I could feel a few scales on my cheeks and forehead, along with a few on my neck. The scales on my legs that once reached my shins now were all the way up to my waste, making my bottom half completely dragon.
…
Wait a minute.
If I can see that my bottom half is fully dragon. Then that means…I'm not wearing any pants…
"AHHHHH!" I scream in embarrassment as I grab the blanket and cover myself.
"W-what?" Jake said startled by my sudden outburst.
"What happened?! Why is my- Where are my- WHY AM I NAKED!?" I scream as I feel my cheeks start to blush.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down Dio" Fu said as he came back over. "This is what I was trying to tell before. Your body went through a little bit more changes."
"A little?! Fu this is more than a little! How am I supposed to go to school now?! I can't hide all this!"
"Don't worry about school right now. Let's focus on your dragon powers and get them fixed." Fu said reassuringly.
"But I- I just-… Uhhggg fine." I groan. I open the blanket a bit so only I can see down it and examine my body once more. My face turns bright red as a sudden realization hits me.
"Ummm, Guys…what happened to my…you know…" I ask very awkwardly.
Jake shuffles around uncomfortable as he looks towards Fu. Fu pulls on his skin flap like you would for a shirt in this kind of situation.
"Well you see Dio…Uh…here, just read this." Fu starts awkwardly before he tossed me a book from the floor. "It's should explain everything."
I catch the book with my tail since my hands are full keeping the blanket up. I bring the book up so I can read it and I swear I could feel blood dripping from my nose as I read the title.
"D-Dragon Anatomy 101?" I say in a shaky voice. "D-do I have to read this?"
"Hey, I had to too when I was your age." Jake said still a bit red. "I was like you till I read about dragons. Technically, you're not really naked. Well you are but you're not at the same time and…yeah…Anyways, you don't have to cover yourself. We can't really see anything so nothing to be ashamed of."
I sigh as I look at myself once more. "Alright." I say as I take off the blanket and toss it on the couch. "I still feel naked."
"Eh, you'll get used to it." Jake said with a shrug. "Now let's go, my arms are starting to get tired from these books." He then turned and started to make his way up to the roof. Fu walked over and waited at the bottom of the stairs for me.
"Ok." I say simply. I put the book on the couch as well before I follow Jake and Fu up stairs. I'll come back for it later. God knows I'll be needing it.
A few lights of stairs and 2 doors later, I find myself on the roof. As I look around, I can see Gramps sitting in the center with 7 piles of books, each having about 10 books in them around him. He turns to look at us as well walk closer.
"Ah Dio, you're up. How do feel young dragon?" He asked with a smile.
"Well I feel weird with this new look and still slightly embarrassed but I guess I'm ok. What's with all the books Gramps?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Well, after your little…mishap." He said as he glared at Jake. Jake gulped as he put the books down. "I knew that we would have to speed up your training for your protection. The magical community in New York has found out who you are and what you are. Knowing most of them, they will want you so that they can use your powers for their own gain. We must make sure that does not happen, by any means necessary." He said getting very serious.
"Ok but what are we gonna do?"
"For now, we'll forget about your dragon transformation and focus on how you're going to protect yourself from other magical creatures. I'm going to teach you how to use magic. You too Jake, you need it to help keep Dio safe."
Jake seemed very surprised by this. "Really? I get to learn magic too? Sweet!" He said as he fist pumped.
"Magic? But isn't the only type of magical creature who can learn magic is Wizards and Witches?" I ask confused.
"They are the only magical creatures who are allowed to use magic. All other creatures are limited to certain types, like simple transformation or potion magic." Gramps said.
"Allowed?" Jake intervened. "What do you mean allowed. By who?"
"The Dragon council. They made a law about 50 years ago that no magical creature except for Wizards and Witches are allowed to use high forms of magic. This rule was made mainly for dragons. The council thought that Dragons would be to over powered and would scare the other creatures. So they made this rule. But we are going to have to break it to keep Dio safe." Gramps explained.
"Aw man! Why did they have to make such a stupid rule like that? I could have learned magic a long time ago and a lot of my problems would have been solved much faster. Like the Huntsclan and the Dark Dragon." Jake complained.
"The main reason this rule was made WAS from the Dark Dragon. He went mad with power and started to use dark magic for evil deeds. He's the main reason why this rule was made. To prevent any other dragon from becoming like him."
"Dark Dragon? The Huntsclan? Who and what are they?" I ask, not understanding.
"It's none of your concern young one. They can't do anything anymore."
"Thanks to me." Jake said proudly.
"You? What did you do?"
"No more talk of Dark Dragon or Huntsclan!" Gramps yelled a bit. "We must stay focused. Now both of you, pay close attention. I'm going to teach you about magic." He then reached over to grab a book from the pile and opened it up. The book then started to light up and 4 little holographic boxes popped out.
"Now, I'm going to explain the 4 main properties of magic. The first one is Elemental Magic." He then poked the first box. The box opened up and 7 orbs, each of different colours came out and made a pentagon, with the black and white orbs in the middle.
"There are 7 different types of Elemental magic. The first is Fire." He said pointing to the red orb. "The second is Wind (the light blue orb), the third is Lightning (the yellow orb), the forth is Earth (the green orb), the fifth is Water (the dark blue orb), the sixth is Light (the white orb in the middle) and the seventh is Darkness (the black orb in the middle). These are all the main bases of magic. Without them, no magic would be possible."
"Hey G. Why are light and darkness in the middle and not in with the rest?" Jake asked.
"That is because Light and Dark are what the others feed off of. Also, it would disturb the balance of the others if they were involved with them. You see, the order I said them in is what element is strong against. (This is Naruto logic btw) Fire is strong against Wind, while weak against Water. Earth is strong against Water, but weak to Lightning. As for Light and Darkness, they are weak and strong against each other. That is why they are in the middle." Gramps explained.
"Ahh, I get it now. It's so simple." I say understanding.
"I still don't get it. How can Earth be weak to Lightning? I mean it just doesn't make any sense." Jake said scratching his head.
"You will understand soon, now onto the next category." Gramps poked the element box once again and the orbs went back into the box. "The next type of magic is Summoning magic." He poked the box next to the first one and out came a small bird like creature. It had pure white feathers and it seemed to glow with a very faint yellow light. "Summoning magic is the art of bringing forth creatures from other dimensions to help you. This little bird here is from the light realm. Light based beings can cure sicknesses along with dispel darkness."
"Gramps. I remember when I was being held in Eli's castle that there were tones of these Trolls everywhere. They didn't feel like they were an average everyday troll. Where they summons too?" I ask.
"Most likely, there are summons from every elemental realm, each with their own specific powers." The bird returns to the box and gramps moves over to the next one. "The next type of magic is Physical magic." The 3rd box opened up and a human figurine rose out.
Jake and I examined the figure for a few moments to see what's so special about it, but it did nothing.
Jake sighed and looked back up to Gramps. "Alright, I give. What is this thing? And what does it do?"
"Physical magic is the manifestation of magic inside and outside the body." He said.
Jake gave him a blank look before looking over to me. "Translation please?"
"Well" I start. "I think what he's trying to say is that Physical magic is when you use the magic inside the body, along with the magic outside the body, combining them to create a physical form of magic. Am I right?" I ask Gramps.
Gramps smiles at me. "Correct young dragon. You are very wise for someone who is still young."
I grin sheepishly as I rub the back of my head. "Thanks Gramps."
He nods before he continues. "Now, as Dio said, Physical magic uses magic inside and outside the body." The figurine suddenly had a thin layer of blue light surrounding the body with a small red orb shinning in the centre of the chest. "When these 2 forms of magic come together, they transform the body of the user into magic itself, but with a physical form." The 2 lights then then fused together and the figure then we cloaked in a veil of flaming purple light. "When you have full combined the 2 magic's together, you can do most anything. You could turn your body into rock" The figure then turned to stone. "or you could turn it into water." It then turned from stone to a see through watery form.
"Wow." Both Jake and I said as we watch the manikin change its shape and form into whatever Grandpa says.
Gramps stopped and figurine returns to the box. "Alright, it's time for the last type of magic." The Last box opens up to revile a dragon, one that looked very much like Jake. "This is Transformation magic, or Form magic for short. All dragons have this type of magic. It's what allows us to change into dragons."
"Great, so we don't need to learn that one." Jake said as he folded his arms behind his head.
"Not necessarily Jake." He said as the Dragon started to change. The red scales turned into deep blue like mine. It grew fins on the back of its head, back, arms and legs. When it was done, it turned into what looks like a water dragon. "There is more than one type of Form dragons can change into."
"Wha? But how did it do that?"
"By using the power of the element that they are birthed with." Gramps said simply.
"Element were birthed with?" I ask.
"Yes. Every dragon is born into an element. Depending on what your family history is determines your element. I myself, being birthed from a line of blue dragons, am a water based dragon. You can usually tell what type of dragon they are by their scales but it's always good to check." He explained.
"So that makes me a water dragon too right?" I say as I look at my deep blue scales.
"No. Your element Dio is very special. Your element is magic itself. You can access any type of magic you want with no limitation."
"Oh wow really? Sweet." Any type of magic huh? Maybe being a dragon isn't so bad after all.
"Yo, what about me Gramps? What type am I?" Jake asked kind of excited.
"It's it obvious? You're a Fire dragon, which is surprising because of our family line but anything can happen when it comes to magic." Gramps said with a bit of a shrug.
"Alright. Now that you have learned about magic, it is time to start training." He then closed the book, the holograms disappearing back into the old book. "Now since you're a fire dragon Jake and you Dio can learn any type of magic, I suggest you both start to work on Fire magic together."
"Ok" Jake said as he got up and shifted to dragon form. "What's first? A little first balls? Oh or maybe something like shooting fire from our hands? Ooo or-"
"The first thing you are doing is reading on how to use basic magic." Gramps interrupted his rant as he pointed to the big pile of books.
Jake groaned and dragoned down. "Aw but G, that's way too much reading! I get enough of it in school!"
"No complaining Jake. I want you book to at least read 1 book a day until we start magic training next week." Gramps said as he started to walk to the door. "Try to think of this as part of your punishment for disobeying me Jake." He then disappeared in the door and out of sight.
Once he was gone, I turned and gave Jake a sceptical look.
"Punishment Jake?"
Jake groaned and scratched his head. "Yeah, for you know, almost getting killed, for letting you get sold and blah, blah, blah. He's been working me like a dog since last night."
"Dose cleaning the toilet with your-"
"Don't even go there." Jake said glaring at me. I just roll my eyes.
Fu, sitting off to the side by the books the whole time yawned and got up.
"Well, I think gramps explained everything you kids need to know. I'm gonna go downstairs for a few Z's. Enjoy reading you two." He said as he walked downstairs off the roof, only to poke his head back through the door once again. "Oh and Dio, there's a surprise for you coming soon, so stay on the roof ok? Later." He then thumped down the stairs.
"Surprise?" I ask as I look over to Jake with a questionable look.
He just shrugged. "I don't know. They didn't tell me anything."
"Hmm. Surprise, surprise. It feels like I'm forgetting something important about today that may involve this. But I can't put my finger on it."
"Meh, who knows? All I can say is I am really not wanting to read those books you hear?"
"Why? You that lazy?" I ask while giving him a grin.
"Excuse me?! I just spent the whole morning cleaning my tail off and what were you doing?! Sleeping!" Jake shouted angrily.
I laugh a bit. "Ok, ok, I was just joking. Now, let's just get reading ok? Those books aren't gonna read themselves." I suggested.
Jake groaned once again and agreed. We walked over to the pile of books and began looking through them for fire based magic books. There were a few big books and a couple of small books we found. Natural, Jake being Jake, took a smaller book first and began reading through it, or should I say, lightly skimming through it.
I myself took a big book and began reading all about fire magic. It was pretty interesting stuff but as I kept reading, I found myself getting kinda bored of it all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a slacker or a lazy person when it comes to this kind of stuff, but I am still a 13 year old kid who can get bored easily. But not as easily as a curtain 15 year old I know.
After about a half hour of reading, Jake groaned really loudly and closed his book.
"Man, I'm only like 20 pages into this dumb book and I'm already sick of it." He then tossed the book back where the piles of books were. "I need to do something other than reading. Hey, you wanna go flying around for a bit?" He asked me as he stretched.
"Jake, Gramps said we have to read and Fu told us to stay on the roof." I reminded him.
"Correction, Gramps said we have to read at least 1 book a day, the days not over yet. And Fu told YOU to stay on the roof, not me. So come on, let's go for a quick flight."
"Jake, the last time we disappeared I got-"
"Kidnapped, I know, but come on! It's just a quick flight around town. It'll only be like 10 minutes and no one will even know were gone. Besides, if we fly around the tops of builds, no one will see us, so get your scaly butt up and lets goooo!" Jake said as pointed to the sky behind him with his thumb.
"Wellllll…I guess it couldn't hurt to fly for a bit." I say giving into my boredom. "But only for a little bit. I don't want Gramps getting mad at us."
"Yeah, yeah will be back soon, Now Dragon Up!' Jake said as blue flames surrounded him and transformed him into his dragon form.
"Dragon Up?" I question.
"Yeah man, it's my catch phrase."
"Then why haven't you said it any other time you turned into a dragon?" I ask giving him a skeptical look.
"Either because I didn't have time to say it or it was an emergency." He said with a shrug. He then jumped in the air and flapped his wings to stay airborne. "Come on, I ain't got all day."
"Alright, alright I'm coming. Don't get your tail in a twist." I put down my book, marking the page for later before I stand up and stretch out. "Hope I can still fly with that magic or whatever." I say to myself.
I open my wings and let the feeling of air take over. The neon blue glow returned to my wings and I started to slowly rise into the sky. Once I as at Jakes level, I stopped and floated midair.
"Yo, how you doin that?" Jake said as he flew around behind me and looked at my wings. "You aren't flapping or anything."
"I don't know, it just happened when I was fighting that golem yesterday. Now all I have to do is think about it and it just happens." I fly up a little higher and do a quick flip. "I think its magic but anyways, this feels amazing." I say as a light breeze flows through the air.
"Yeah, I know right? I think flying is one of my favorite things to do." Jake then started to fly forward into the city at a slow pace. "Come on; I'll show you all the best spots for flying." He then started to speed up.
"Hey wait for me." I call as I follow him. I catch up to him and fly by his side. Jake led me around and over buildings to get a good look over the city. It was actually really cool. My eyes never really looked up from the looking down most of the time. Everything from up here looked so different and it was fantastic.
"Jake, this is amazing. Just flying around and looking over the city, it feels so relaxing, like I could do this forever."
"Oh I know the feeling. Flying's great. It gets your mind off things and keeps you calm. I remember back when I just got my dragon powers, Gramps took me out flying whenever I was stressed or needed some time to get away from everything." Jake said and sighed at the memories. "It was nice flying with him but he doesn't fly that much anymore. He's either too busy or to tired so I go alone but it's nice to have someone I can do this with again." Jake then gave me a sideways smile.
I smile back at him. "Yeah, it's nice flying with someone." I say remembering that quick flight I had with my mom and dad.
Wait…
Mom and Dad?
…
Oh yeah!
"Oh, Jake, I just figured out what the surprise was!" I say as I stop my flight and just hover.
Jake stopped and turned to face me. "What? What is it?"
"My mom and dad, there coming to see me today!" I face palm myself. "I can't believe I forgot about them."
"Not even a month you leave home and you already forget about us?" A voice called from nowhere. Jake and I are a little startled by the new voice as we look around. The voice then chuckled a bit. "Up here boys."
I look up to see the hovering form of a deep blue scaled dragon with 2 sets of wings. The same blue scaled dragon who kept his promise to me.
"Dad." A big smile on my face started too appeared as I quickly started to fly up to him. "Dad!" I fly up and give him a big tackle hug to his belly, right between his wings. The force from my impact made us do a few flips before we straighten out. I was practically holding him up my own wings.
"You kept your promise." I mumble into his chest as I feel his own scaly arms wrap around my back.
"Of course we would keep our promise to you Dio. We missed you and we wanted to see you son." I feel the tip of his snout nuzzle my head lightly. "Sorry we couldn't come earlier, we got held up at our job."
I pull away from the hug and hover in front of my dad. "It's ok. I'm so happy that you came. I really missed you guys." I look around for a quick second and notice something amiss. "Uhh, dad? Where's mom?"
He sighs. "I'm sorry son. They only way we were able to get off this day was if one of us stayed later to work. She'll be coming later on today and we won't be leaving until tomorrow night so we'll have plenty of time to be together and talk and do whatever you want. Ok?" He said giving me a smile.
I was a little sad to hear mom wasn't here to but she'll be coming later, I know it. "Ok." I return the smile.
Jake, who was sitting back and watching decided to step in. "Hey Dio, I think it's a good time to return to the shop now. That way you two can talk." He suggested.
"Good idea." My dad said he crossed his arms. "I would like to know the reason behind why my son is even MORE dragon then before and why exactly he's using forbidden magic." He finished giving me and Jake a skeptical look.
Both of us laugh sheepishly. Something tells me that this will be the least of my worries when he finds out about ALL what happened during my stay here in New York.

He was not pleased.
When Jake, Dad and I flew back to the shop, we found a very angry grandpa waiting for us on the roof. We were both yelled at, Jake by Gramps and me by dad for not listening to my Dragon Master. Then my dad and Gramps got into a fight over my training, the magic he's teaching us, why I look the way I do now and how I got kidnapped and brainwashed by Eli Pandarus.
Jake and I were sitting quietly in the corner where we were told to sit and wait while Gramps and dad were yelling at each other over everything.
"We left our son in the care of a supposedly "responsible" Dragon Master and you let him get kidnapped?! Plus, by the looks of it, you haven't helped one bit with controlling his powers!" My now human dad yelled at the smaller Asian man.
"It was my grandson's job to watch over him and make sure nothing went wrong for the day I went out! I didn't think he would be foolish enough to let him be kidnapped, much less by Pandarus! And we were making progress until that time but now we have to forget about his transformation and focus on him learning to protect himself!" Gramps yelled back.
"The only reason I agreed to this was so that you could help him turn back to normal and to train for his test he has in a year, not for him to be learning forbidden magic! What are you even thinking?! Do you want my son to be shipped off to Draco Island?! If the councillors find out about this, they will put him in jail for breaking one of the top 10 laws of the magical world! I will not let that happen!" My father stated.
"I am well aware of the action I am taking, but they are all necessary for Dios protection! He is the Trident Dragon, the most powerful being on this planet! Creatures everywhere will want to get their hands on him for that power! What if he is in a situation where there is no one to protect him? I'm teaching him so he will be able to take care of himself if he is ever alone!" Gramps resorted back.
I sighed as I tried to tune out the yelling. Gramps may be small, but that man has one set of lungs I tell yea. It doesn't help to have super sensitive hear either. I hope this ends soon.
Jake tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. "Hey Dio, you wanna bail and head home? You know, be for they turn on us next?" Jake whispered to me.
"Gladly." I whisper back as we slowly get up so we don't alert the parentals of our mischief. We tip toped past them and was about to make it through the door way when I felt a tug on my tail. I turn my head to see that Gramps and dad have stopped fighting and dad was currently holding the end of my tail in one hand and the back of Jakes jacket with the other with a very peeved look on his face.
"And just where do you think you two are going?" He asked a bit angered.
"Busted." Jake said simply.
"Not helping." I grit through my teeth.
My dad puts Jake down a bit roughly and let's go of my tail to grab my wrist. "Were leaving now, I am not letting my son stay here one more minute under bad influence. Come on Dio. " He stated as he started to pull me towards the front door.
"Bu-but dad! I can't go outside! Not like this!" I tell him as I try to pull away from the door.
"Fine, we'll fly out." He said as he switched direction to head for the stairs.
"But dad, I don't want t-"
"Were leaving and that's final!" Dad turned to yell at my face. I flinched and felt a bit scared. My dad never yelled at me before like that. It was scary to hear it and see the angry in his eyes. I closed my mouth and quietly followed my dad upstairs, stealing one last glance at the worried face of Jake and the displeased face of my Master. I guess they didn't have any power to step in and help me.
Once we reached the roof he let go of his tight grasp on my wrist and shifted into Dragon form, taking to the sky and hovered a few feet in the air.
"Let's go Dio." He said in a no nonsense tone. I quickly do as he said and took flight with same flying magic I've used before. Once I reach him, he quickly turns and starts to fly away. I turn back one more time at the building I got to know so well and before I turned and followed my dad into the heart of New York.

The flight I had with dad was a very quiet and awkward one. We didn't say anything on the flight to where ever we were going. I was too afraid that he might yell at me again and I knew he was still angry by the hard look on his face. I could also see dark circles under his eyes. I'm guessing he's exhausted from the long flight here and all the fighting probably didn't help at all. Maybe I should just stay quiet until he's had time to calm down.
The flight wasn't a long one, may be 20 minutes or so. We ended up at this fancy hotel on the far side of town and landed on the roof.
"This hotel is run by the magical community; you don't have to worry about anyone seeing you here." He said breaking the silence in a calmer tone as he turned back to normal.
"Ok." I say in a quiet voice as I follow him to the elevator. He pressed the button and the doors opened. We entered and he pressed the button for the floor that was only a few stories below us. The doors close and we were back to the silence again.
It didn't last long as the doors opened once again to a nice hotel corridor. Dad stepped out lead me a few doors down to a room. He pulled out a key card and swiped the door, opening it and let me step in first.
The hotel room was pretty big. It had 2 king sized beds, a flat screen TV mounted on the wall, a desk with a laptop and a briefcase on it, mostly likely my father's things, a dining room table complete with chairs, a bathroom of course, a few painting hung of the walls, a body sized mirror in front of one of beds and finally a beautiful view over the city.
I stepped in till I was about half way into the room before dad stepped in and shut the door behind him with a bit of a slam that made me jump.
I turn to see dad quickly advancing towards me. Before I knew it, I was taken in a very tight hug.
"I'm so, so sorry Dio." He said behind my head. "I'm sorry for yelling at you and I'm sorry for everything that's happened to you." He let go of the hug and kneeled down and started to check over my body. "You didn't get hurt did you? Oh god, please tell me you didn't get hurt! What did he do to you? How did he-"
"Dad calm down!" I cut off his little rant by grabbing his hands. I let them go soon after and give a sigh. "I'm fine dad, really I am. I only got hurt a little bit and it wasn't anything too serious. If anything it was Jake who got hurt more than me." I say solemnly as I still feel a bit guilty for what happened, but I quickly shake it off. "But never mind about all that. It's in the past now and everything turn out ok."
"Really? Are you sure?" he asked double checking.
"Yes, I'm ok dad." I said, giving a small smile after.
"Good, good…" he said fading off as he stood up and pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh.
"So, uhhh…what now?" I ask him.
He looks back to me. "For now, how about we relax and wait until Mom comes back. She should be here in an hour or so. What would you like to do? This hotel has plenty to offer. There's an indoor pool downstairs and a few other things. We'll do whatever you want." He said as his face looked like it was stripped of all stress and sleepiness.
"Um, ok…can we go swimming for a bit?" I ask.
"Sure, let me change into my bathing suit and get you one for yourself, something tells me your old clothing won't fit anymore, so you can barrow one of mine. Sound good?"
I nod and he pulls out his suitcase. He takes out 2 of his bathing suits, a dark blue and a black pair of trunks and throws the black ones my way. He steps into the bathroom and I sigh as I look down to the trunks.
"What I want to do is go back to Gramps and Jake." I whisper to myself. I slip on the black shorts and they fit nicely around my waist, it even had and extra hole in the back for my tail to slip through. That is if there wasn't a big trident on the end but I still manage to stretch the suit carefully around it and got them on.
My dad stepped out a few seconds later with his blue trunks on and 2 towels in hand.
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah." I say as I follow him out and to the pool.
%%%Time Skip, Hour later.
Well that was pretty fun. Dad and I had some nice relaxing bonding time. The pool was nice and big and there weren't too many people/ Creature there but the few who were wouldn't stop looking at me until I glared at them.
I want to be normal soon.
Anyways I had a nice time with him. We played a few games and talk about how everything was going and stuff before we deemed we had enough pool time and went back to the room, but when we got there, there was a surprise waiting for us.
Mom.
She was sitting on the bed in typical everyday adult clothing watching some TV. She turned her head and was about to say something before she screamed.
"Dio! Oh my gosh!" She quickly jumped off the bed and practically crushed me in a back breaking/ wing breaking hug.
"M-mom…Can't…breath!" I gasp out. She quickly let go before she started to check over me like dad did.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?! Are you alright?! Is everything ok?! Tell mommy what happened!" She said shaking me.
Mothers. The most over protective thing on this planet.
"Mom I'm ok! Stop shaking me!" I say a bit dizzy. She puts me down but doesn't let go of me.
"Oh my baby, what happened to you?" she asked again but this time in a little bit calmer tone.
"Oh I'll tell you what happened." Dad intervened. "The so call "Respected Dragon Master" Lou Shi, let Dio get kidnapped by the wizard of wall street, Eli Pandarus."
"WHAT?!" Mother screamed again.
"Not only that, but they haven't helped with his control over his powers AND they were even teaching him forbidden magic!" He continued.
I seriously wish that I didn't have dragon hearing because if you heard my mother scream, you would be deaf right about now.
"That is it! I am not letting my son say in the care of such irresponsible people anymore!" my mother stated but as soon as I heard that I push out of her grip to look at both of them.
"What? W-what do you mean?"
"Dio, what we mean is that we are taking you back to Draco Island to get you another dragon teacher." Dad said.
"What?!" I shout this time. "N-No! You can't do that!"
"Oh yes we can! We are your parents and we decide what's best for you." Mom stated with a hard look.
"What? Like you've been doing all these years?" I say sarcastically, giving my parents a bit of shocked faces. "Don't even give me that look! You know damn right what I mean and what you two did!"
"Dio." Dad said in a warning tone.
"A-and now you two think you can come back and take me away from people who actually are around when I need them?"
"Dio!" My mother shouts.
"What is it that you people want from me?! What am I to you?! Do you even think of me as your son?! AM I your son?! WHAT AM I TO YO-"
A loud slap filled the air around me, along with a stinging pain to my right cheek. Somehow I also ended up on the ground looking at the floor.
I was slightly dazed as I try to process what just happened. I slowly bring a shaking hand to cup the burning cheek as I turn my gaze back in front of me. Dad was standing over front of me with his hand raised and a very angered look on his face.
I can easily figure out that he slapped me. Something that none of them have never, ever done to me before.
"Never, Say that again, you hear me?!" He yelled. "NEVER!"
I don't know what came over me. I just felt like I was starting to break down. I didn't even realize I was silently crying until I felt the wetness on my hand. I sat there starting at my father with scared and confused eyes as he stands there, looking down on me. The angry slowly fading away from his face as he pants. Slowly, he calmed down but just as he did, the look of shock took over as he looked at his hand and back to me on the floor.
"…I-I…Dio, I didn't mean…I…" He stuttered, not able to find the right words to say. In the mist of things my mother came over hand hugged me while I was on the floor, slowly stroking my hair.
"Dio, were sorry. Please listen to us. We don't want anything to happen to you. We just want you to be safe." She whispers in my ear, sounding like she's about to break down as well.
I just sat there. Thoughts swirling around in my head like a typhoon. Why is this happening? Why did he get so made after I said that? Just so many whys and not enough answers. I just wish I could understand what's happening.
Suddenly, a loud knock came from the door. My dad, the closest one to the door, walks over to it as my mother pulls my semi limp body off the ground and sits me on the bed. She wipes away some of my tears along with the unfallen ones from her eyes.
I hear the door open and my father give a low warning growl.
"What are you doing here?" He growls.
"We came to work things out." The familiar voice of Gramps calls out. It instantly made me snap out of it and whip my head towards the door. I could see Gramps, Jake and Fu all standing at the door.
"There's nothing too work out! You put my son in danger and think we're going to leave him with you again?" He yells to them.
"We are sorry for what happened to Dio. We just want to talk things out so that you can fully understand-"
"Understand what?" My mother said cutting him off as she too now has an angered look on her face. She gets up and takes the spot beside dad to glare down at the shorter dragons. "That you are incapable of taking care of our son?"
"No I jus-"
"Look you, you stay the hell away from our son from now on, you got that?!" Father yelled.
"It is our duty to protect him at all cost! We were assigned by the council to do so!" Gramps reminded them.
"Well that's all about to change when we go back to get a better Master for our son." Mom said.
"You cannot do that!"
"Yes we can!" They both yell at Gramps. From then on in it turned into a yelling fest between the adults. Jake and Fu stood back away from this, not getting involved.
I cover my ears because all the yelling was starting to hurt my head.
"Mom, Dad, please stop." I ask quietly but they don't hear me.
"Mom, Dad, Please." I try a bit louder but again it falls upon unheard ears. The throbbing started to get worse and worse with each passing second. It felt like something was building up inside and was about to burst. I can't take it! It hurts!
"STOP!" I yell but as I did, black energy whipped around my and out towards the room. A wave hit the Tv can creaked the screen along with knocking it off the wall completely. The table set and other bed I wasn't sitting on got flipped and knocked over. The few décor paintings also feel from the wall. The body size mirror on the wall in front of me cracked but it still stayed on the wall. Finally, a wave shot at the window making it shatter outwards, devastating the window entirely.
The waves started to settle and slowly get smaller and smaller until they vanished. I was sitting down with my head in my hands, panting with uneven breaths as I stared at my feet. The pain in my head faded along with all the noise, leaving us in silence.
I slowly look up to the destroy room before I turn my head to face my parents and everyone else. Dad was still standing but mom and Gramps fell on the floor. Jake and Fu look alright but they all had surprised faces on, all looking towards me.
"I…I'm sorry." I say still panting as I look back down to my feet. "I don't…I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry…I'm sorry."
I hear shuffling as slow footsteps fill the room. I see a pair a feet and feel a hand on my back, both of which are my mothers.
"Dio…Are you ok?" She asked calmly.
I give a slow nod, still trying to calm myself down. No said anything for a few minutes as my mom soothed me with small rubs and slow strokes to my hair. It helped relive me and soon, I felt better.
I take my hands away from my head and look up to see mom sitting beside me and everyone else standing around me.
I sigh and look down once more, not able to look anyone in the eyes just yet.
"I'm sorry everyone. For the stress I put on all of you. I know it's hard to take care of me, I've kinda know that from the start, but I…I just…" I look up to look at the worried eyes of my parents. "Mom, Dad… I-I know your worried about me, everyone is. It may seem like I'm in danger to stay here but the truth is anywhere is dangerous for me now. Wherever I go, creatures everywhere will want to try and use my power for their own gain. Nothing can change that. I'm not safe anymore and I don't think I will be ever again, but I'm asking you…Please let me stay here with Jake's family." I ask with pleading eyes.
I look over to Gramps, Fu and Jake before I continue. "You guys have treated me so well since I got here, like I was part of your family. You helped me in my time of need, even when you risked your own lives to do it. You trained me, listened to me, and showed me how to express myself and everything. I'm not saying that my parents didn't do that, I'm just saying I'm so grateful for what you have given to me."
I turn back to my parents once again. "I know I'll be ok here. I'll learn how to control my powers and protect myself so you guys won't have to worry so much about me. I'll get strong and live up to my Title as the Trident Dragon, I promise. Please let me stay." I pled once more.
My parents looked at each other for minute. A silent conversation of the eyes went on before they looked back to me with soft faces.
"Are you sure you'll be able to live up to the title Mr. Trident Dragon?" My dad said in a kinda joking tone.
I give a small chuckle before I smile and give him a nod.
"Then it's ok with us if you stay here then." Mom said this time. "As long as we don't hear anymore "Accidents" happen ok?" she said, directed towards Gramps more than me.
"I promise, but there's no guarantee." I say winking at them.
"Excuse me?!"
"Kidding Mom, just kidding!" I say before she rips my head off with worry.
At least Jake, Gramps, Fu and dad thought it was funny a started laugh. Soon Mom and I joined in too. I'm so glad that everything worked out in the end. As I look around and the now happy and relieved faces of the people close to me, I know that there's nothing to worry about anymore.
At least, I thought there wasn't. Not until suddenly black and white flames surrounded my feet.
I yelled in shock, grabbing the attention of those around me. The flames climbed higher and high up my body, heating me to an uncomfortable level. I pushed my mom away from me so she wouldn't get burned before the flames consume my whole body.
"Dio!" I hear everyone yell but I can't see anything with this black and white fire licking my eyes. Within the white fire that passed my eyes, I could see glimpses of this figure, standing before me. It was all white and looked a lot like…me?
It had my looks, all of them of what I look like right now. At first I thought it was that shadow guy who tried to take me over but as I look into the figures eyes, I see that they aren't filled with angry red, but with a soft, shinning blue, as light as the sky. He smile at me and opened his mouth to talk, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I tried to read his lips but I only caught part of what he was saying.
The light will guide you…seal the darkness…Trident Dragon.
That's all I could make out before he disappeared, along with the flames, leaving me sitting on a now burnt bed with everyone looking at me.
I didn't exactly know what happened and I'm guessing neither did they but why wasn't anyone saying anything.
"…Ummm, what just happened?" I ask breaking the silence.
"…Dio…you're a…" My dad started.
"I'm a what?"
"A…a dragon…"
"A…dragon?" I say confused as I look down to my body. My legs and hands were the same but the only thing I could see that was different was now, my chest and belly were fully covered in scales. My underbelly was a dark purple like I thought but on my chest was something weird.
There was this big white crystal on my chest in the shape of a diamond. Inside the white crystal as a smaller black crystal and both were slightly glowing.
I felt my face to feel it too was very different. I felt scales everywhere and when I looked down to my nose, I could see I had a snout now.
I stand up and look around the room to try and find something to see myself with. I zero in on the broken mirror and get a good look at myself.
I was actually a dragon! An actual dragon! No human parts anywhere! My head along with everything else was now fully dragon. The only changes I could see now were that my horns grew a bit longer, my eyes were now glowing golden reptilian eyes, my hair also grew a bit down my back but now instead of being fully white, it had black tips to it. I had white spines running down my back until it got to where the trident started on the end of my tail. My overall body shape was the same as Jakes but I might be a little smaller.
"I-I a dragon? I'm a dragon! Yeah!" I shout as I jump for joy. Every seemed to snap out of shock once I yelled.
"Alright nice dude." Jake congratulated.
"That's one less thing we have to worry about now." Gramps added.
"You guys have no idea how happy I am right now! Nothing could ruin this!" I say out of joy and first pump in the air.
But again, fait always has more tricks up its sleeves.
The black and white fire returned and surrounded my body once more. They disappeared as soon as they came and I was left standing as a human again. How do I know this? Welllllll…
Flop.
That would be the sound of my dad's now oversized swim suit falling to my ankles, leaving me completely naked in front of everyone.
I bet you anything my yell of embarrassment could be heard by every occupant in the hotel.
I stumble to pick the suit up and end up falling back down. My wings magically popped out from my back with the same flames before I quickly use them to cover myself.
"Except that." Jake said recalling what I said just a few moments ago as he covered his eyes with his hand.
"Jake! Not, Helping!" I say, feeling like I'm about to cry from the embarrassment, who wouldn't? All the people who I know and love just saw EVERYTHING!
"It's ok son, I don't even think anybody saw anything." My dad said trying to make me feel better.
"I'm pretty sure you all saw SOMETHING!"
"Look on the bright side kid, it could be worse." Fu said.
"What could be worse than this?!"
"You could have been naked in public, Jake's been a few times."
"FU! Not cool!" Jake shouted as everyone laughed, except me of course. Still wallowing in embarrassment here.
I groan really loud and hide my head under my wings.
"Worst. Day. Ever! And can someone get my some clothing!?" Everyone just laughed harder.
"IT'S NOT FUNNY!"
Yep. Worst day ever. I'll never hear the end of this. Sometimes it sucks to be a dragon.
%%% 3rd POV Hours later.
It was late at night. Jake, Fu and Gramps went home some time ago, leaving Dio in the care of his parents.
They ended up getting a new room since there last one was trashed and spent some time together. They talked and played a few games and even watched a movie but Dio ended up falling asleep half way through it and was currently sleeping on the floor in front of the TV.
Dio's appearance slightly changed after he obtained his full dragon powers. His hair was still white but it kept the black tips to them. His eyes changed from being purple and gold eyes to purple with a gold ring around the outside but they still were slits. Finally he had a small diamond shape marking on his chest, the same as the diamond on his chest, a white with a smaller black one inside.
"Aw look honey. He fell asleep." Dio's mother said from her bed. "I think it's time we put him to bed."
Dio's father agreed and slowly crept over to him. He leaned down and scooped Dio up in his arms and carried him over to his bed. He laid him down and tucked the covers over him before running his hand through his hair, earning him a low purr like sound.
He was silent for a few minutes, just stoking his sons hair before he stopped and shook his head with a confused look.
"I just don't get it." He mumbled.
"Don't get what?" His wife asked.
He turned to face her. "I don't get why Dio would ask that question, if he was our son or not."
"Maybe…maybe it was just a fluke? Maybe he just said it because he was so caught up in the moment?" she suggested.
"Whatever it is, we can't let Dio find out the truth. He can never know about his past or his true origin." He stated. "Anyways, let's just get some sleep. I'm sure Dio will be wanting to do many things with us tomorrow."
"Right. Good night dear." She said as she rolled over and prepared for sleep.
Dios father looked back at Dio and ran his hand through his hair one more time before he crawled in bed with his wife. All the while thinking,
He can never know.
He hit lights and settled down in his bed, falling asleep within minutes.
Unknowing to them, one of Dio's eyes peaked open to reveal a blood red dragon eye.
He chuckled lightly. "All is going according to plan. I'll let you play your little game of house for now my dear Dio, but soon, this body shall me mine, you just wait." He whispered to himself before he chucked again.
His eye slowly started to close but before he did, he whispered,
"Father is coming soon. Just wait…just…wait…" The eye fully closed and his breaths evened out, continuing the sleep like nothing happened.
