Mosstail waited for Dapplemoon to return, for she had been gone when she woke. She shuffled her paws in uneasiness and anxiety, thinking about her troubles, growing hungry as she sat but afraid of what would happen if she left the den.

Dapplemoon arrived in what seemed like moons carrying a mouthful of herbs, a content look on her face. She must have seen Mosstails troubled look because she dropped her bundle and bounded over to her side. "What is it my dear?"

Mosstail then proceeded to tell her everything that has happened in the past moon. How she had been having dreams about battles and screeching clans locked together. How she almost drown in there clans own blood, and how every night she woke up with fresh scratches and gouges from dead cats ripping at her fur. Then she finally told about Troutstar, and how he was determined to kill them all. And that she saw him every night in the Dark forest planning his revenge.

Dapplemoon looked at her with a concerned look, sadness in her eyes. She looked uncomfortable and about to shatter like ice being dropped on a thunderpath.

Mosstail could not understand why she was acting this way and continued, hoping to see jut a glimmer of understanding in her medicine cats eyes.

When Mosstail had finished speaking Dapplemoon nodded slowly. She said in a very calming and soothing voice, "I think you hit your head a bit too hard when you hit the ground. Let me get you some poppy seeds to help you sleep."

Mosstail gaped with shock. "No! That is exactly of what I'm afraid of doing! I'm not making this up!" She shook her head trying to understand, trying to get the reason Dapplemoon didn't believe her.

Dapplemoon returned with a bundle of herbs wrapped in a leaf. "Eat these. There are poppy seeds and a few herbs to help your pain and confusion."

Mosstail shook her head and backed away. "Why don't you believe me? Why don't you understand?"

Dapplemoon shook her head sadly. "Please eat these Mosstail. I believe you, I really do. As soon as you wake up you will be safe, I promise you I won't let anything happen to you."

"No! You don't know what is going to happen if Troutstar isn't stopped!" Mosstail felt herself slipping, losing her mind into the horror she was living. She saw red berries in the bundle Dapplemoon was trying to give her and her eyes grew wide.

Those small shiny berries, so round and so perfect. The berries that every cat feared, and were taught to avoid. The berries that could choke the life out of you with just one. The berries that had the ability to end a whole clan of cats. Just one berry could be the end. And one thing kept playing in her mind over and over again. Death berries.

Dapplemoon was going to kill her. Mosstail began to panic, her claws digging into the ground. She froze not knowing what to do, trying to find an escape route. Finding none she leapt at Dapplemoon with a screech, claws unsheathed and teeth bared.

"Im not going to let you do this to me!" She yowled.

Dapplemoon shrieked, "Its OK Mosstail! Calm down, your just confused! They aren't-" She was cut off by Mosstail ripping through her flesh. Yowling in pain she called out something that Mosstail didn't pay any heed to. Mosstail continued to rip fur from Dapplemoon and didn't even notice when another cat slipped into the den.

The next she knew, she was being wrestled to the ground by Blazestorm. He looked at her with sad pleading eyes and said something that Mosstail couldn't make out. Next, the bundle of herbs with the red berries were being forced down her throat. She tried to fight back but couldn't move, so she just looked at Blazestorm with pleading eyes. He just shook his head and began to walk away, out of the den.

Mosstail let out a wail, not wanting him to leave her but no sound escaped her mouth. All she could think as she slipped away, was why everyone was against her. Pain stabbed through her, not from the berries, but from the thought of Blazestorm betraying her and leaving her for dead.

As she was almost gone she realized that the death berries weren't causing her any pain at all, that they were soothing her. She then imagined that's how they were. Her body was probably in a seizure on the outside and she just couldn't feel it. Well I'm glad. I don't want to feel my last moments. She then lost herself completely… and fell into darkness.
