~I only own my OCS and the chaos they might end up causing Please Review or tell Pm me with ideas. This chapter is long overdue. I am still looking for a beta. If anyone would want to volunteer that would be great! Just leave me a comment or PM me saying so. ~
I should apologize for not updating in a while but i won't because i can't control my college professors and their crazy homework binges. Also I have started working on a novel. Maybe after I finish this storyline I will post the prologue...
I should be working on my Astronomy homework but right now I'm feeling like just saying screw it, it's not like the stuff from these assignments is going to be on tomorrow's test right? *laughs manically before switching to a resigned chuckle* I'm domed, tired and in need of a strong cuppa coffee
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I love this particular holiday for reasons that I'll be keeping to myself!
Italics = mental speech or flashback/dream

Last time in Empowered Ones
(Rose's Pov)
Thorin walked with me back to my room. Neither of us said a word but I felt almost safe with him near. "Rose I was nearly destroyed when i thought you dead, sacrifice because of my stupidity. I may not have shown it but i have grown to care for you during this journey, would you allow me the honor of courting you despite the fact i have nothing to offer you at the present moment? You do not have to answer now but please think on it." I nodded. When we reached the door of my room i bid him good night saying, "Thorn...I...I will think about what you said but you need to realize that I hold a monster, a madwoman and an angel in the back of my mind along with who i was growing up, who I was when i disappeared from the lives of my friends and blood relatives, who i was when i came back and who i am now. I'm not the girl you want." I turned to go into my room but was stopped by Thorin grabbing my arm. "Let me be the judge of that." He then kissed my hand and let me go with my heart beating a hundred miles per hour.
(No one's Pov)
Rose was woken after only a few hours of sleep by Sabriel's mental voice in her mind.
"Rose, wake up. We have a problem."
"What is it?" She projected her irritation at being woken along with a mental growl to Sabriel
"Bolg is outside and wants revenge. I sensed him and his orc pack a few minutes ago."
"Barzul." Rose cursed
"Ha! A dwarvish curse from 'Eragon' REALLY?" Rose could feel her friend's amusement and responded with another mental growl. It was too early for the psychic teasing bullshit.
"Does Beorn know about the filth hiding under the trees?" Rose would enjoy watching the bearman's rage-fueled revenge unleashed upon the scum but knew that as long was Beorn did not feel directly challenged he would just bar the orcs from his lands.
"Yes."
"And..."
"He said that he will not allow them to lay hands on the company while we are on his land but nothing else...that is to say that..."
"He won't rain claws and revenge down on their puny heads. Fine I'll see what I can do. Do they know about those of us with powers?"
At that questions Sabriel paused for a few seconds while she searched their enemies' minds.
"They only know about Alex, but then again it is kinda hard to miss a nearly 300 foot dragon. They think she is responsible for the destruction on the ledge."
Rose chuckled darkly, "They were partly right a dragon of sorts is responsible for the damage, just not one with wings. No matter it won't matter after I bury them so deep in the earth that even the tree roots won't be able to reach their festering remains. Find out their greatest fears, what terrifies even the darkest creatures that walk on the earth. Then have your fun with them. If they are still around after, well I'll see what I can do."
"It'll be my pleasure." The mental cackle that followed was positively devious as it faded from Rose's mind.
'Heh. That'll show the bastards, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to watch the show. Now would it.' with that in mind the elemental rose (See what i did there. Never mind me I'm sleep deprived lol) from her bed and walked to the window with her dragon, now the size of a large pony, at her side. Bolg looked absolutely terrified and his warg was confused, it saw nothing to be afraid of. Rose changed that quickly by using the ground by the warg's feet to hold it in place as Rose made fire dance around it.
Rose quickly did the same to the rest of the wargs with and without riders. Once that was done she created a formless silhouette with shadows. She made it appear to grab some flames and throw them at some of the warg riders killing them swiftly. Several of the wargs perished this way as well.
"With this power I could change the outcome of the battle to come. The heirs of Durin WILL survive." Rose vowed to herself
"Rose don't give yourself a false hope that may never happen. Besides we will have to leave tomorrow if there are more filth coming after us. Nice job with the fire balls by the way." Sabriel said into Rose's head for the last time that night.
Rose shook her head and promised herself that she would keep Thorin, Fili, and Kili save even if it meant locking them deep in the mountain after burying that cursed gold in the deepest of forgotten vaults. With that in mind Rose returned to her bed motioning for Chandra to also get some sleep. Tomorrow would be an every long day.

Thorin rose with the sun as its golden light graced the room he had been sleeping in. He got out of bed, redressed but leaving his armor off, and left the room. When he arrived in the kitchen both Bofur and his large brother already awake and making breakfast. Sabriel stood by the window facing out towards the barn. Hades, Samantha's dragon, sat beside the mind reader.
"Who else is awake?" Thorin asks
"Just the wizard, Rose and Chandra. Gandalf left and said he would be back later. Rose and her dragon are out in the stable. I think she said something about finding another old friend. Oh and our host is no where to be found." Bombur said not looking up from the bread he was kneading.
~out in the Barn~
(Rose's Pov)
I had spent the morning in the barn after Sabriel woke me and told me about her surveillance of Bolg and his hunting party. I had found more childhood pets and childhood friends/family members. Nox, the oldest of the horses looking as fine as he did during his hayday. Stormy, Nox's oldest colt. Windy, one of Nox's fillies and Stormy's closest sister. All three were horses i grew up riding and would trust with my life. The morgans seemed to be more empathic while being indifferent to human troubles.
"Hey there Nox. How is middle earth treating you old boy? It seems like just a few yesterdays that my siblings and i told you goodbye old friend. Do you remember the last thing i told you before we loaded the car and drove away? Huh? How about it old boy?" I scratched the sweet spot right behind the brown stallion's left ear, the one he shared with at lest two of his nine children, with one hand while rubbing the long white stripe on his nose.
"Do you remember this song?" i asked before i began to sing Nox the song, i sung to him a few days before my uncle put him down at age 25 on the 1st birthday of the Stallion's newest baby, Sitka.
Here I am - this is me
There's no where else on earth I'd rather be
Here I am - it's just me and you
And tonight we make our dreams come true
It's a new world - it's a new start
It's alive with the beating of young hearts
It's a new day - it's a new plan
I've been waiting for you
Here I am
Here we are - we've just begun
And after all this time - our time has come
Ya here we are - still goin' strong
Right here in the place where we belong
It's a new world - it's a new start
It's alive with the beating of young hearts
It's a new day - it's a new plan
I've been waiting for you
Here I am
Here I am - next to you
And suddenly the world is all brand new
Here I am - where I'm gonna stay
Now there's nothin standin in our way
Here I am - this is me
I allowed the song to fade away as i heard a pair of heavy footsteps approaching the barn and stepped away from Nox. I moved on to Stormy's stall and stroked the gelding's long face tracing the shape of his sire's stripe over the top of his. "Hello Thorin." I said when i heard the footsteps stop a few paces away from me.
"Only you and Dwalin have such purposeful footsteps, but i doubted it would be Dwalin besides he normally is accompanied by the clanking of Grasper and Keeper banging together." I said by way of answering his unspoken question.
"Ah." Thorin said shortly
"Was there something you wanted my lord?" I asked trying to keep the tremble i felt in my throat from being voiced.
"Since when do you call me your lord?" Thorin asked in reply rather than answering my question. When i remained silent he sighed and said, "We are leaving at noon, i suggest you be ready."
I nodded and listened to him leave the barn again. Footstep stopped right before they reached the door and Thorin said, "Rose about last night..."
I turned away from Stormy to face Thorin. I rubbed my arms nerviously and said,
"I need more time Thorin and you need to know the things I've gone through before you are able to understand what you are asking of me. Go back in the house, Bombur should have the food ready by now. Go on, i'll be in soon." He didn't say anything and remained expressionless as he turned and left the barn. I shouldn't have sounded so distant. I mentally asked Sabriel to tell Beorn i was taking Wendy out for a ride to one of the near by streams in order to clear my head.
(no one's pov)
Rose didn't see Kree following her but she was able to hear the raven's nosy wing beats. When she stopped it was by a river small enough to be called a stream. It was a clear deep blue with tall oak trees growing on both banks. Rose saw as Kree alighted on a branch of the tallest oak, and procedded to climb the tree. Once the elemental reached the raven's branch she settled against the Oak's broad trunk and relaxed. I whistled softly to avoid effecting the slight breeze blowing from the west. Some birds responded, echoing the soft tune. Soon i was singing the words to the song.
Where dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water-rats
There we've hid our faery vats
Full of berries
And of reddest stolen cherries
Come away, O human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim grey sands with light
By far off furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles
Whilst the world is full of troubles
And is anxious in its sleep.
Come away, O human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams
Come away, O human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
Away with us he's going
The solemn-eyed
He'll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.
Come away, O human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
For he comes, the human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
"Little birds shouldn't stray from their flock." Beorn's deep voice came from beneath my tree
"Little birds aren't always what they seem. Especially when they are so far up in the trees, one never knows. The bird might just burst into flames."
"Enough chattel little fire fledgling, your flock wants to leave and i must return wild Wendy to her herd. Don't worry i'll take good care of them all. So why don't we hurry back to your friends now."
I knew it was his way of telling me it was time to leave, so i just nodded and climbed down from the tree.
~Sorry this was sort of a filler chapter. Next time the company with leave Beorn and enter into Mirkwood~
