A/N: Hey guys. so that last chapter was... out of my comfort zone... I don't think that I'll write something like that again.. But at least now I have an opening for ideas.
I'm really surprised that no one guessed my age. It wasn't even within the age ranges :P Oh well, better luck this week. :) I can see why y'all guessed those ages, though. It makes sense after that last chapter... GOMEN GOMEN GOMEN I feel so bad for not updating within the past few months! I'm really sorry. But I'll shut up now. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own anything about Naruto. Except IN MY DREAMS! MWAHAHAHAA! O.O
Dealing with an Uchiha
Chapter 13: What is Going On..?
"Thank Kami!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands into the air and letting them collapse to my lap. I. Was. Beyond. Tired. Chicken-ass and I had been working on the story since three in the afternoon and I felt like we didn't get anything done - even though we were already three quarters of the way finished. I took a sip from my mocha frap (with an extra spoon of coffee thanks to the very kind senior year boy at the register) and looked up at the youngest Uchiha brother; he was still focused on tapping away at his keyboard. I looked back at my laptop to see paragraph after paragraph being spit out by Sasuke on the google drive document that we had decided to use. I yawned and stretched, ready to go home.
"Hehehe! No!" I heard quite the familiar voice from a few seats behind me. I didn't even have to turn around to know who it was. Just as I was about to ask what the pig was doing there, I heard another voice.
"Yes!" then in a more hushed tone, "It's so going to happen. It may not look like it now, but I know exactly how this is gonna turn out. He's gonna take her-"
"Oi!" I intervened. I didn't want to know what they were talking about.
"Eeek!" squeaked the dumb and dumber soon-to-be-lovers.
"Instinct turned out to be correct agin, as I found Ino and Kiba huddling together underneath their table. I rolled my eyes at him and proceeded to interrogate.
"What the hell are you guys doing under there?" No, what are you doing here? And... you know what, never mind. Just answer my questions."
Hurriedly, Kiba and Ino said in unison, "We're on a date!" with Ino adding "duh!" at the end of her sentence in an obvious attempt to sound more convincing. I knew that their little excuse was far from the truth, but decided to act as if I'd bought it. Besides, maybe their stake-out slash spy session might turn into an actual date if I leave them be.
'Psh. Good luck to them.' I thought as I smirked to myself. Of course, they were going to make it seem like a real date.
I wiggled my eyebrows at them.
"Oh, I see. So Kiba, when did you finally realize that Ino is your destined soul mate?" Hey, if I'm gonna play along, I gotta have some fun with it.
Kiba's eyes bulged and his mouth was slightly agape. Meanwhile, Ino's face had gone almost completely pink. Luckily for her, Kiba didn't even spare a glance in her direction. But I guess that it wouldn't have made a difference if he had - it's not like he's smart enough to realize how Pig feels about him.
I made a gesture with my arms and head as if to say "...well?"
"Oh, um. Well, I've kind of been into her for a while so..." Kiba replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head with the smallest tint of pink flushing across his cheeks - Ino's grew maroon.
"Aww! Well isn't that cute!" I winked at Ino and she stuck her middle finger up at me from behind dog-boy. When no one said anything, I spoke up again.
"Well you two continue your date. But get out from underneath that table. I think you're freaking old people out." I pointed to the group of senior citizens lined up at the register.
The two love birds scrambled out from their hiding spot and sat calmly back in their seats. As reserved as they appeared, I could tell that Ino was struggling to stay conscious ever since Kiba claimed that he had feelings for her, and Kiba was hyperventilating from nervousness and embarassment.
I smiled again as another idea came to mind.
"Hey, dog-boy," I barked over to Kiba. He slowly turned his head around to look at me with the weirdest puppy-dog eyes ever; silently begging me to end the torment that I was causing him. But I think that he understood that I wasn't done yet. Not quite.
"Why'd you take my best friend here on a date? What are you, cheap? Broke? No way in hell are you broke. Why don't you take the lovely Miss Yamanaka, ahem, you girlfriend," I made sure to put extra emphasis on the word girlfriend. "over to the new cinema that they built over in the center of town? Or a nice restaurant? Ooh, better yet, dinner AND a movie. Because right now, you're giving her a pretty crappy date."
The only thing that Kiba could manage to say was "uhh..." Dumbfounded. Ino's face flushed again and she vigorously shook her head.
"No no no! I'm having fun! I really don't -"
"No honey. You deserve to be pampered!" I smiled sweetly at her and then glared at Kiba, making him jump a little in his seat. A few surrounding people turned to look at him.
"Inuzuka, you'd better take good care of her, or I swear I'll hunt you down and rip you to shreds." Kiba quickly nodded his head and took Ino's hand to start dragging her out of the coffee shop. Man, this was fun.
"Hey hey hey, I never said I was done." Kiba froze in his place; half way to the exit with Ino fighting to keep her stuff together in her arms.
"Ino, if he makes it a really crappy date, just lemme know, kay?" she, too, nodded quickly and proceeded to follow Kiba outside when I said again,
"Wait a minute! Just take some pictures and videos for me, kay? And then send them to me when you get home. I want to make sure everything goes well." I winked at her once more, making her stick her middle finger back up at me and a few mothers gasp and cover their children's eyes. When I waved to Ino and Kiba when they were in his car, they grimaced and seemed to reluctantly wave back. Afterwards, Kiba gunned the engine and took off in the direction of the movie theatre.
I leaned my head back and laughed maniacally. I guess that the mothers that convered their kids' eyes the first time thought that me laughing was the last straw, because they all simultaneously speed-walked towards the doors. Once I was done playing doctor evil, I sighed and took another sip from my mocha.
"You now," Sasuke said, still not looking up from his laptop. "You seem to really enjoy messing with people. In a few ways, it's pretty messed up."
I chuckled. "Oh, I know."
"I can't believe you just noticed them there." he said. "You really are stupid."
"What? You knew they were there the entire time?!" I exclaimed. Eyes turned in my direction again.
"What do you think? Baka..."
"Hey!" I stood up from my seat, ready to fight.
"Not in front of the children, Haruno." Sasuke said, finally taking a break to smirk at me.
"Shut up, chicken-ass." I growled as I sat back in my seat.
"Sakura, Sakura, Sakura. The words I say just don't go through your head, do they?"
I blinked a few times. "What?"
By the time we decided to go home, my eyelids were drooping, I had drunk around five cups of coffee (or maybe more), and I could barely keep my head up.
"Hey, Pinky, we gotta go." Sasuke said, shaking my shoulder a little bit. I shook him off violently and lay my head back down on my closed laptop.
"Sakura."
I groaned in annoyance and reluctant recognition.
"You know what, fine." he said. I almost smiled - but would have taken too much energy.
All was peaceful ... for a few minutes.
Just as I was dozing back off, the laptop was pulled from beneath my head and someone was picking me up. I already knew who it was though. The only reason why I didn't object when Sasuke swung me over his shoulder was because I was too exhausted to say anything - or to open my eyes, for the matter. I felt a bit better when chicken-ass somewhat carefully placed me in the passenger seat of his car and buckled me in.
Aww! Isn't he sweet? He likes what he sees.
'Damn you, inner!'
Mwahahaha!
I heard Sasuke close my door and get in on the driver's side. He started the engine and started driving off - to where, I had no idea. He played some Eminem (hm, interesting choice) softly on the radio, connecting his phone with an auxiliary cord. We drove for about ten minutes, but to me it seemed like twenty. Again, I was drifitng off into sleep. By the end of the night, we had only two more chapters to write. After that, we just had to revise and then submit it. But that could wait for the next day.
Again, thank you Uchiha, Sasuke woke me up at the wrong time. On the verge of sleeping again! Thank you!
"Sakura, come on. I have to grab something and drop my stuff off before I take you home." he said.
"Noooo..." I groaned. I readjusted the position of my head and tried to get more comfortable.
"Dammit, Sakura. Just come on. Unless you want me to carry you again?" Sasuke's voice had an edge to it as he unbuckled my seat belt. He grabbed my arm to pull me out of the car, but my eyes immediately flew open and I smacked him hard on the chest. He stumbled backwards a bit and furrowed his eyebrows slightly in irritation.
I stepped out of the car and shut the door behind me, but sleep dared to take over me again. Sasuke turned with his things in hand and walked towards the double doors of his mansion.
'Where the hell are we parked...?'
I tried to take a step forward, but my knees buckled and I fell halfway to the ground. I regained my balance and stood upright again, but I had to rush over to Sasuke, who was a few paces ahead of me, and clutch his arm.
I shivered. 'Was it always this cold outside? Oh yeah, it's almost winter...'
No dip, sherlock.
'...'
"What are you doing?" Sasuke asked. I didn't respond, but tightened my grip on his bicep. The cold bit at me and I walked closer to Sasuke, trying to absorb his body heat. But even though it was so cold out (the cold usually wakes people up, right?) I was fighting to stay awake. The best that I could do was keep my eyes open one quarter of the way. Sasuke grumbled after a few seconds, but didn't shrug me off. I stumbled along beside him up a path and up the steps to his front doors. Before we even reached them, the doors opened slowly and gracefully. Two maids held the massive metal slabs open with their heads bowed to Sasuke, waiting while a gust of wind wooshed into the foyer. As we approached I shut my eyes in reaction to the bright lights. I'm guessing that a maid or butler or whatever noticed because the light quickly dimmed when we stepped into the mansion.
"Welcome home, Uchiha-sama." I rolled my eyes the best that I could. They sounded just like the Uchiha fan-girls, other than the fact that they were a bit monotone and sounded more obedient.
'Is it possible to sound obedient?'
Sasuke nodded to them in recognition, but just barely.
'Guess he really is as arrogant as I thought.'
Or he's used to it. DUH
'Of course you'd rush to his defense.'
You would too, sweetie.
'No, I wouldn't. I hate this guy, remember?'
Yeah? Then why are you gripping his bicep?
At the mention of my actions, I yelped and jumped backwards. Sasuke looked back at me quizically, but only for a second. Soon enough, his expression was once again blank.
"Hn."
I grumbled to myself and followed him up the stairs. I guess he didn't want that...?
"Go wait in the living room." he demanded.
"No." I don't why I followed him but I wasn't about to go back down there.
"Go." he tried again.
"No!" I retorted, more forcefully this time.
"Hn."
"Exactly." I smirked.
"Exactly nothing. Now go to the living room and wait for me there." Through all of this, Sasuke's expression seemed to stay the same. He's such an...interesting person in that way...
"I'm not one of your servants, you can't just order me around." I glared bullets from my emerald green eyes into his pitch black orbs. Somehow, they got darker after my statement.
"Well I just did. Now. Go."
"Make. Me." I growled, standing on my toes to try to reach eye-level with him. But of course, I couldn't achieve that goal. Suddenly, Sasuke dropped his stuff onto the stairs and pushed me against the railing. He towered over me and glared - hard. His onyx eyes shot through my own, making me feel small. His hand was still on my hip, pressing me against the intricately designed golden railing. He took a step closer to me and I could feel my breath hitch. The events of earlier that day still hadn't left my mind.
"Sasuke-"
"Sakura," he lowly growled in my ear. I could feel the irritation radiating from his body and for some reason my own was shaking ever-so subtly. Never before was I frightened by this Uchiha, but I couldn't control the trembling. "Go downstairs. Right. Now."
I had to stay strong though. If not... then act like it. "Or. What?" I hissed back, reaching up to grab his neck, digging my nails into his flesh. But Sasuke didn't react. He merely showed me the consequences. Quickly, his hand dropped from my hip to my butt, which he promptly squeezed. I squeaked and smacked him on the side of the head.
"Stop it!" I yelled. My mind was racing. My heart was racing and I hoped it was because I was really, really, REALLY freaked out.
Sasuke took a step back, allowing me to see his ticked off face once more. "Hn." Was all he said. I was so... so... infuriated by this! What in the heck was going on?! I couldn't figure out whether he touched me to anger me or because... I couldn't even bring myself to think about it. I raced up the steps, past the pile of Sasuke's things and to the landing. I kicked off my shoes and ran into Sasuke's dark room before he could catch up to me. I planted my butt on his bed and planned not to move until he was done with whatever he needed to do.
Sasuke took his time following me into the room, but when he entered, he slammed the door shut, the loud bang resonating throughout the entire estate. He turned and glared at me before setting his things down onto his desk. I heard him take a deep breath as he tried to calm himself down.
"I'm going to shower. I would suggest you get out of here." he said in monotone, running a hand through his chicken-ass hair.
"Yeah, well I don't care. I'm staying here until we leave." I stated boldly. I moved backwards onto the bed and sat against the headboard, crossing my legs in front of me to make a point.
Sasuke didn't respond for a few moments. "Hn." was all he said before he walked into the bathroom. I rolled my eyes, but smirked after realizing that I had won the battle. I yawned and leaned my head backwards. I began to grow tired for the fiftieth time today and patted the pillows around me. They were incredibly soft... And so were the sheets... And the bed itself... And so warm... I stared intently at the bed before me. It was so huge that I don't think that it even had a name for its size. After a minute I couldn't resist anymore. I hastily laid down and pulled the covers over me, heat quickly overcoming the icy cold that still attacked my body. I sighed in satisfaction as I drifted off to sleep. And the best part of it all, besides lying in the awesomest bed of all time, was that I could actually get rest without Sasuke disturbing me. At least for a few minutes... Just before the lights went out for me, I glimpsed the clock on the nightstand beside the bed; 11:59.
A/N: Okay, I know this one is pretty short, but I figured that this would be the best place to end as far as I could see. I've sorta lost my style and touch as you can see, but I'll work on it, I promise. So what shall happen next, hm? Lemme know if there's something that you really want to happen and I'll see if I can add that into the story :) I promise I won't take so much time between updates anymore. Sorry to keep you guys waiting :( Oh and the contest is still open if you guys still want to try to take a guess. Guessing just to guess is fine with me I'm like that too just as long as it's a game :P
Okee that's all for this week. Review please! :)
