In comparison to my normal time of many many months, I say this was uploaded fast.
For those who got it, yes last chapter was an easter egg! the word count was 911, US emergency number for Police and Fire Department. I'm really impressed with the people who got that little tidbit.
Also, I was thinking of branching into Ao3, ideas on that anyone?
Harry was breathing heavy now. People everywhere. Moving, pushing, everywhere. It was like the Great Hall all over. He shut his eyes, yelling and heat against his body as the crowd spun him, pushed here and there, a loose kite in a thunderstorm. The banging on the door was growing harder and louder and every time it thumped there was a scream and-
There was a hand on his arm. He looked up to see Blaise. His face was solemn and worried, Daphne was cradled into his side and she had managed to pull a flat of some sort of wood so it blockaded them from the frenzy.
"Are you alright?" came a soft whisper, it was Blaise. His head was low and eyebrows scrunched. Harry looked at him. And then, beginning tentatively but growing stronger, he smiled.
It was an odd smile, stretching his lips to show too many teeth and not enough mercy. It seemed in that moment that a glint reached into his eyes and shimmered down through him, it was a thrumming energy- blurring the edges of Harry's body and, Blaise swore, sharpening his teeth. Blaise's breath hitched, heart racing. But in a moment the image was gone. It was just Harry sitting there, smiling softly in assurance. Blaise repressed a shudder. Harry was weird, but not scary...right?
He didn't have time to linger further on the idea because the pounding on the other side of the heavy wooden door had stopped and a hushed silence fell over the Hospital Wing. Daphne pulled Blaise up to peer over their barriers. The children were staring warily at the door.
There was a dainty knock on the other side.
The students looked at each other in confusion. A small, round faced boy looked as if he were about to open it but an older year held him back. Madam Pomfrey appeared at the doorway. The children parted as she walked past. Harry noted that the furrows on her face had deepened. She looked tired, the spells she used to quietly douse the flames were faint and sputtering, but the woman persevered as she walked to the door. Harry felt a smidgen of respect fill him.
She stood at the door and drew herself up. It was a picturesque moment, Harry figured. Dark destruction everywhere. Her hand reached for the door. "DON'T OPEN IT. The troll's on the other side!" yelled a student. Pomfrey's hand didn't stop. Her hand gripped tight onto her wand. Professor Snape materialized behind her. He made a shooing motion with his hand and the students scurried back. The door squeaked and opened.
And there was Wednesday. Troll head in hand.
"Where's Harry?"
They sat in the Common Room, it was packed to full capacity. It was silent except for a roll call. Names remained unanswered and no-one dared to say a thing. Faces across the room were drawn and sickly. They'd had 5 missing students, and were only up to the 3rd years.
"Addams, Wednesday?" Called the Prefect. A few people looked about, but Wednesday didn't respond. There was a quiet muttering between those who were in the Hospital Wing during the attack.
In the end it was Marcus who spoke up. "She was called away by Professor Dumbledore," He muttered, head never looking up. The crowd hushed.
In the end there were 13 missing from Slytherin. Daphne said that that was including the injured. The Common Room didn't take any solace in that.
So yeah this is the second part of that which will be merged shortly, tomorrow actually. I was going to continue but I've been getting a lot of questions on how this ends so have this. Next chapter is aftermath.
As I said last chapter, check out my Bio for my Tumblr. FeaturePoints is really cool and gets you money so you can check that out on both my Bio and a more in depth explanation on my tumblr. Sorry about the shameless self promotion y'all.'
Review. Mwah. See you soon. I have an outline so next chapter should be up soon and (finally) more than 1000 words.
