I WAS FEEING WEIRD... AND PETER AND CALEB MUST BE EXPOSED TO THE REAL WORLD! SO...

CALEB'S POV

I was awoken by a knock. I rubbed my eyes and rolled out of the bed, guessing that Peter was here.

Sure enough, when I opened the door, Peter was standing there.

"Why don't you ever sleep?" I asked, yawning.

"I don't know. I used to sleep, now I don't," said Peter. "Anyways, take a walk with me."

I stepped out of my room. We started wandering aimlessly in silence.

We got to one of the lesser used hallways and heard voices. Then, I saw a group of boys and girls around our age, some older, some younger, sitting at the end.

"Hey!" one of them yelled. "Come 'ere!"

I looked at Peter, who was frowning at the group.

"Well?" asked the boy expectantly.

We both walked over to them, not knowing what else to do.

"Where 're you from?" asked the boy.

"The Factions in Chicago," said Peter, looking unfazed in his Dauntless manner.

"Oh, so you're some of 'em. We're from one of one a tha Bureau's little 'spiriments, too" said the boy, who seemed to always cut off the first part of some words and had a strange accent. "So, what 're yer names?"

"Peter Hayes," said Peter.

"Caleb Prior," I said, shakily.

"August Grover," said the boy. Now that my eyes had adjusted to the light, I noticed August's features. He was quite tall and had very dark skin, dark eyes and close cropped and curly hair.

"Hey, ya said yer names were Peter n' Caleb?" asked a small girl, who had a honey colored complexion, sleek black hair and slanted eyes. We nodded. "I saw ya on the cams. Not very nice people, are ya?"

"Hey, you know what-" Peter started, then I cut him off.

"Calm down," I said.

"Sellin' out yer own sis? Pretty low, hm?" asked a girl with bright red hair and freckles.

"You know what happened if you were watching those cameras. I was getting her out. I needed to play the part," I said.

"An' you," said a boy with tan skin and curly black hair, to Peter, "You were brutal in that training. They were wipin' people off the floor."

Peter just bit his lip and turned his head away.

"Ya realize yer no better than 'em if ya bully 'em like that," said August. "In apology, I ask you to join us."

"Join you in what?" I asked, unsurely.

August dug a bottle out of his pocket and took a few pills out. "Makes ya high as a kite."

"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Peter. The kids laughed.

"Just take one a' these an' you'll see soon enough," said August.

Peter and I glanced at each other. I didn't trust these people.

August held out his hand, with two pills. "Well?"

I wasn't completely sure what to do. These pills looked like medicine of some sort.

My palms were sweating. "Um..."

I finally gave in and took one. Peter took the other.

"Just swallow 'em," said August taking some out for the others, who all took some.

I tentatively swallowed mine.

"There. Now, ya' wait," said August.

"Wait for what?" asked Peter.

"You'll see," said August, smiling fiendishly.

After a little while, I started to see things. Colors were brighter and they all smeared together. Someone was playing music. I felt like I could hear all the tones more clearly. Peter grabbed my arm, which sent jolts of energy through my body.

"What the fuck is happening to me?" he asked. His voice sounded different, somehow.

I didn't answer. I was so confused. I felt like I was processing everything slower.

I sat there for a few hours, feeling terrified and also oddly happy.

After a while, I stopped hallucinating. A few minutes later, Peter seemed to be back to normal.

"Lets get out of here," he said. We both got up and ran to our rooms as fast as we possibly could.

xXx

The next morning, Peter and I decided to find Ms. Clearwater and ask if she knew what had happened to us.

We walked up to a guard. "Um... do you know someone by the last name Clearwater?" I asked.

"Oh you mean Lucy Clearwater? Red hair?" he asked. We nodded. "Oh yeah. I bet she's in her room."

"Where's that?" asked Peter.

"Make a left, then a right and it's the last door of the hallway," said the man.

"Alright. Thanks," I said.

"What so are we just going to said, 'Hey, this guy gave us some pill and we hallucinated. What the heck happened to us?," asked Peter.

"I guess," I said.

We got to the door and knocked. Ms. Clearwater answered it in her uniform.

"Oh. Hello," she said. "What do you want?"

"Uh... so last night these people gave us pills and we were hallucinating all the colors and sounds and stuff. What exactly happened?" I asked.

Ms. Clearwater laughed. "You got high?"

"Er... yes?" said Peter.

She started laughing uncontrollably. "You... idiots!"

"Those people were threatening, okay?" I said.

"They probably gave you ecstasy," said Ms. Clearwater. "Just don't do it again."

We nodded. I would avoid that hallway forever now.
