You Know the drill….Voltron…Do not own it nor thought of it. Am only borrowing it.

Something I must clarify: the planet that Lance lost his family on was Dresdin. It was a world that had a campground feeling to. You know: trees, mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches. Sorta like the big Island of Hawaii and the Grand Canyon. Dradin is the pleasure planet with a lot of urban/city feel to it. Or a resort of sorts. Like a combination of Las Vegas, L.A., New York and Miami.

Oh and a huge shout out to my beta, Cinderella9056. Thanks a ton for putting up with me and my strange ways.

Eleven AM

Infirmary

It was three days since Lance had woken up. He was still confined to the hospital bed, much to his chagrin. He had no shirt on as the wounds were still in bandages.

"I'm bored." Lance drummed his fingers on the bed. He had a wicked looking scar on his face that would follow him throughout his life. Which he wore proudly as a scar of bravery.

"Read a book." Dr. Gorma came back with. By now he was used to Lance and his ADHD.

Lance had been driving him and his staff up the wall with his excessive talking, fidgeting and just plain annoying them to no ends with questions of 'when am I gonna get out of here', flirting with his female assistants, jokes that would make anyone in a brothel blush, and just pushing Gorma to almost extremes of wanting to knock Lance out with sedatives.

Gorma had read up on everyone's records and knew what was in them. From their medical to the psychiatric reports. In his opinion two out of five should be having daily meetings with counselors.

"Not my style. Can't focus on it for long."

Gorma spoke to himself, "You don't say. But that is understanding coming from you." He then asked out loud, "And what is your style?"

Lance thought a moment then smiled. He then turned his compact disk player on. He was not concerned since no one else was bothered as he was the only person in the hospital room. Except Dr. Gorma who was trying to write on his report chart. Gorma was getting increasingly annoyed at what was coming out of the player. He preferred classical music. Not this loud 'stuff'.

Lance was thumbing his hands on the bed with each beat. When he started singing, Dr Gorma had enough. Then there was silence. In short the good doctor turned it off.

"Hey! Why did ya do that for? It was just getting to the good part."

"I turned it off because that so called music was disturbing me. I have no idea how anyone could work let alone think with that stuff on."

"Well. Don't worry about it. You'll get used to it." Lance smirked. Then reached over to turn it back on.

Dr. Gorma groaned and then tried to write a few more words down. Then when Lance started singing out loud, Gorma had it and then turned it off again. Lance then turned it on. Which resulted in a war of sorts of Lance turning the disk on while Gorma would turn it off.

Finally the doctor had enough. He then turned it off and removed the disk and pocketed it. Lance shrugged. "So how much longer till I can fly the coup?"

"Fly the coup?" Gorma raised his right eyebrow. He would never understand why these Earthlings would use this 'slang' as it was called. He preferred straight to the point and with a lot of medical jargon. As his patient would call it.

"Ya know. Hit the road. Bust out of here. Amscray. Say adios. Hasta la bye-bye. Get the green light. Am able to leave."

"And that will not be soon enough." Gorma mumbled.

"What?"

"If all goes well, you may leave tomorrow. But you will be on light duty. In short no flying until I give you my express permission."

Lance pouted, "How long is that going to be?"

"It depends on your recovery. You might be able to start flying next week. It depends on if the concussion was detrimental to your flying. In short I will have to test you."

"That is like forever." Lance moaned.

"Which is the understatement of the decade." Gorma half whispered.

"You're mumbling again." Annoying the doctor yet again.

"I will try to release you by tomorrow. Depending on how well your next checkup goes." Gorma amended quickly. Almost anything to get Lance McClain out of here.

"So here's hoping everything goes smooth as whiskey."

"We can all only hope."

Keith then walked in, "Lance." Keith then gave his pilot a knuckle bump, "How are ya doing, buddy?"

"Much better. No more headache. In short I was able to have my player on even. And doc here says that I might be able to get out of here by tomorrow. Ain't that great?."

Knowing Lance, Keith smiled, "I wager you can't wait."

"You're telling me. Laying in here with nothing to do." Lance crossed his hands behind his head.

"You sound bored."

"I hate laying still."

"Really I couldn't tell." Gorma came back with.

"But the good news is that I could be out of here by tomorrow at the earliest. Maybe even a bit earlier."

"Only if you pass your check up."

"Oh I will." Lance proclaimed with a stubborn set look on his face that anyone could see.

"What do you think about that Dr. Gorma?" Keith asked wanting to see what their doctor would say.

"In a word. Ecstatic."

Keith narrowed his eyes. It appeared as though Lance had managed to 'assert' himself yet again. "What happened?" Dr. Gorma handed Keith the disk. Recognition dawned on the commander's face. "Oh."

"Indeed." Dr. Gorma then left as he had another patient to attend to.

"There is nothing wrong with rock."

"Lance, music is relative."

"Say what?"

"For instance I like show tunes and you like rock and roll."

"So." Then a thought, "Oh, wait I get it. The good doctor likes other music besides rock."

"Right."

"Wait maybe he hasn't been introduced to rock the right way."

"Lance, don't you dare."

"Don't I dare what?" Lance asked with an innocent look on his face. Well as innocent as he could get. But that did not sway Keith Kogane in any way. He knew just what Lance McClain was capable of.

"Don't try to give him any lessons in the music department."

"But…."

"Lance he is our doctor. We need to be on good terms with him. And you going around and telling him that his music is bad is not a good idea."

"Fine. I won't tell him anything."

"Telling him includes anything. From showing, writing it down or well anything is considered as part of that." Keith looked down at his watch, "Time to go on maneuvers." He then handed Lance his Guns and Roses disk and proceeded to leave.

Once Keith had left, "Oh, I won't tell him anything. But the others are fair play." Lance grinned. He then put the disk back in the player and turned it on. When 'Sweet Child of Mine' started he started singing and making plans. Lance grinned, "Yup the others are just right for the learning."

Lance leaned back making plans. First he would teach Jase and the others about rock and then Larmina and Allura would want to know about it when they would hear it being played. Those two would really want to know all about the music because when you first hear that music, if you like it then you would not be able to get enough. He decided to also include the other guys sans Keith with his little idea. Keith would only mess up his plans. Lance then grinned.

Within an hour, Lance was able to start to put his plan, well one of them, into action. He was laying on the bed listening to his music when the door opened and surprise upon surprise, the crowned princess of Arus walked in carrying some books.

She wore her hair naturally so that it was cascading down her back with her royal crown that denoted her rank as the heir to Arus. Her newly made dress and high heeled shoes matched her royal blue eyes. Since she was no longer wearing the lace and pink dress that a girl would play act she looked like a young woman. Which Lance thought was a vast improvement and he inwardly grinned about also flirting with her.

"Uh, hi." Allura smiled almost shyly. This was the first time that she was by herself with a man. No one knew that she was in here.

In short nanny would have a fit and dragging her out of there. While Coran would try and find something or anything else to keep her away from this man. Well it would not happen.

She had heard that Lance was bored and thought that reading to him out of her books of Arus myths, tales and some history of the royal line and of the battles that Arus fought in might interest him and keep him from getting bored.

"Why halloo, beautiful." Lance gave her a heart melting grin and a saucy wink.

Allura blushed, grinned and giggled. No other man had flirted with her before. She was told that she was beautiful but not like this. So this was new for her. "I brought some books." She then took a seat in a chair on the right side of the bed.

Lance closed his eyes and sighed shaking his head, "Darlin, I really don't like ta read. But thanks anyway."

"Who said that you were going to read?" Allura turned off the player and then picked up a book and started to open it.

Lance snapped open his eyes, "You are?"

"I love to read and I have a what you might call a 'captive' audience."

Lance grinned wickedly, "I would love to be your captive. Then I could worship you the way you ought to be worshiped. Or my way." Lance winked his right eye.

Allura got a funny look on her face, "What do you mean?"

"So you're new at this. Guess I will have to introduce you to the art of flirting." Lance put his hands behind his head and gave her a look.

Allura's face had a look of understanding, "That was what we doing?"

"Darlin, stick with me and I'll have you flirting like a pro." Lance grinned shamelessly.

"Nanny is going to have a fit when she finds out."

"Wanna know something, Allie? She can only have a fit if she finds out." Lance grinned mischievously at her.

Allura blushed furiously and smiled. "Shall we begin? I would like to start out with how our planet fought our wars and with who. I have been studying this for a while now and probably could make it more interesting for you than at your academy."

"That is true. But I think it is a fair exchange. You teach me about Arus and I'll love to teach you how to flirt." Lance gave a lopsided grin. Now he liked this kind of medicine.

Allura then smiled, "Stop me if you need any clarification."

Then she started to read about the first recorded wars and how Arus was united through her ancestors. Adding some interesting highlights. Lance liked Allura reading to him. He did not mind a beautiful woman reading to him. To him there was something very sensual as a woman formed words with her lovely pink lips and her soft voice taking him to a places that he loved going to.

At the end of the first chapter, which took about two hours with Lance asking her some questions, Lance stopped her, "Ya know, darlin, if you were around at the academy, I would have been at the top of the class."

"You would have kept her too busy for her to read, min bror." Sven announced at the door. Sven just obviously returned from the flight maneuvers as he was wearing his flight suit.

"Eh…you're right."

"Right about what?" Allura asked marking her place. Lance just grinned. Sven just chuckled.

"So how was practice?"

"Not the same without you, bror."

"Nothin ever is the same without me." Lance smugly cited. Allura laughed.

"You'll just encourage him, your highness."

"Does your brother even need encouragement?" Allura teased. Which made Lance laugh. Allura's eyes twinkled at her first joke she told with the guys.

"In a word, no." Sven answered after laughing.

Dr. Gorma then walked in, "According to his attitude. I would have to confer."

"I am right here."

Dr. Gorma continued on, "Everyone at the infirmary knows that you are here. I am going to give you your physical and see about how well your wounds are healing. And then I hope to release you."

"You are?"

"Well not only me but my staff as well."

"My awesomeness is sometimes too great for just anyone to be around for awhile." That made Allura laugh and Sven chuckle.

"If her highness and Lt. Commander Holgerson will please step out. I will quickly give you a check up so you can leave." Then in an undercurrent, "So we can all have peace."

Forty five minutes later

Waiting room

Allura and Sven were both happy to see Lance as he left the infirmary. He had his boots on and a new flight suit. And the good news was that the bandage on his head was taken off. The scar on his face gave him an even more of a bad boy look.

"Awe…Ya waited for me." Lance grinned.

"So what is the verdict?" Sven asked.

"I am grounded for a bit and have to go in and have two check ups a day for two days. Then if all goes well I get my wings back."

"Wings back?" Allura asked.

"I can fly again. I can see me now, behind Red's controls wearing my jacket and doing a fly by at the control tower at mach five. Hey, that reminds me. Where is my jacket at?"

"Hunk just finished cleaning it yesterday. I am sure he still has it in his room." Sven replied.

"Great. I owe him a thanks. Guess I'll give him a gift as a way of saying thanks when I go to pick it up."

"What are you going to bring him?" Allura asked.

"I've got some recipes that were my grandmas that he has been wanting." After a moment of considering, "Nah, make it just one."

"And what will that be?" Allura asked.

"My families secret recipe for bar-b-que sauce."

"You are? The one that has won best sauce of the south so many times that you need more than two hands to count?"

"Yup. I was gonna give it to him anyway. So I'll just give it to him a bit earlier than I was gonna to." Then as an afterthought, "Hey I missed lunch, mind if we stop by the kitchen so I can get something to eat?" He then turned toward Allura, "And since I am still grounded for the next two days, we can hang out a bit more."

"Sounds great I am hungry as well. And I can ask you some questions then."

"Guess there is an upside ta being grounded." Lance led the way out of the waiting room to the kitchen.

"With you it is a tie between flying and spending your time with a beautiful woman."

"You know me so well my brother." Lance responded with a smirk and Allura smiled at their banter.

One day later…..

Allura was out in the garden practicing with her bow and arrows. She was hitting each and every target at the bulls eye.

After hitting the last target which was the farthest, Larmina, Trinity and Adele clapped.

"Well done, your highness." Adele called out, "Very well done."

"Adele is right, Allura. No one is as good a shot as you." Larmina praised her cousin.

Lance's voice drawled out loud and clear, "You are a very good shot at stationary targets." Everyone looked behind them. Lance stood about ten feet away.

"Of course, Princess Allura is good at shooting her bow. She is the best archer on Arus." Adele clarified.

"Until we came." Lance clarified.

"She still is." Trinity came back with wanting to defend her princess..

Lance's eyes had a certain glint in them, "But can she hit a moving target."

"Of course I can hit a moving target." Allura came back with.

Lance grinned, "Prove it." By that time, Lance was standing about a foot away from Allura.

"How?"

"Like this." Lance took out his gun and hit a round board suspended by a rope. Which caused it to twirl around.

Allura pick up her bow and pulled back letting her arrow fly. It came up too short. She tried again coming up short yet again. After two more failed attempts, Lance took out his gun and shot six times consecutively hitting the target each and every time. The last time, he hit the thin rope which broke the board off.

Lance smiled. Allura stood there amazed and a bit envious. She had never seen anyone hit a target like that. She wanted to learn how to shoot like that. She was taught how to hit a stationary target. But never was taught how to hit a moving one, apparently.

"Wow! That was amazing!" Trinity whistled.

"Who taught you how to shoot?" Larmina wanted to know.

"First off, thanks Trinity. And I was taught how to shoot like that by my relatives when I was a young boy. You see I learned how to hunt with a rifle on hunting trips."

"You mean the academy did not teach you how to shoot?" Adele asked.

"The academy does teach shooting. But I already knew. Being from Alabama my family would never miss a hunting season."

"So what I believe that you are trying to say was that you had to learn to shoot before you went hunting."

"Got my first deer at six." Lance proclaimed proudly.

"Alright, then since you seem to know all about target practice and shooting. What did I do wrong?"

"Well, darlin." Lance then smiled as he walked over and sat down on a bench. "Before you shoot imagine where the target is going to be and not hit at where it is."

Allura sat down beside him, "I do not understand."

"Let me draw you a picture." Lance then drew a round circle. "Now where do you aim at?"

"The target, of course."

"If a target doesn't move. Then you are right. But what if it moves. Remember, Allie, ya got to make allowances that the target will not be here," Lance pushed his stick into the target then move the stick over a foot. "It will be here. Depending on how fast the target moves. Remember, a deer will not stand still and let you shoot it."

"Oh, I get it now! How fast the directory of the target is to the shot fired."

"Have ya been spending your time around Pidge? I mean I know that Larmina here has." Lance asked with a crooked smile. That caused everyone to laugh.

"I read it in a science book."

Lance shrugged, "Figures. Want me to teach you?"

Allura smiled then shook her head yes. "Please. That would be very kind of you, Lt. McClain."

Lance shook his head, "No problem. And please call me Lance."

Soon after the others all went inside to do various other jobs or to as Larmina at it to learn some more about computers from her teacher/captive.

Before she left, Lance got a devious look on his face. "Uh, Larmina. If you want Pidge's attention, totally and completely. Try talking with him about stuff he likes."

Larmina got a calculating look on her face. "He gives me assignments and does a bit of teaching then leaves."

Lance shook his head. Well, he was going to help that boy out. The kid needed to have someone his own age to talk to. And since it was a girl, so much the better. And then maybe he could have a girlfriend. Only computers, technology and training does not equal a life.

"Besides computers, he likes martial arts and music. Mostly rock and roll."

Larmina grinned and got a calculating look in her eyes. "Really." Not meaning it as a question. "Thanks, uh Lance." She smiled and quickly left Lance to hunt down Pidge. Who really did not have any chance in the end.

For the rest of the day, Lance showed his new student how to fire at moving targets. By the time she understood it and was able to hit some of them, it was time to get ready for dinner.

During that time of her being taught, Allura asked questions about all of the team. And Lance answered almost every one of them. But he noticed a trend. While she was asking questions about the team, she was asking a bit more thought of questions about Keith.

'Always all about the Keith.' Lance thought to himself. But he kept that thought to himself and contented himself with getting to know Allura and hopefully she would know him better.

Hope that you liked the little chapter. I hopefully wanted it to showcase how Lance and Allura's friendship started. Then I will go to the next of where they find plenty of evidence against Adele. Larmina and Pidge action. And three people show up that will have major consequences on the team.
