Chapter 9
Los Angeles:
Hello, Evangeline said answering her phone.
Ms. Williamson, this is ADA Burke Taylor. I need you to come into the DA's office to answer some questions.
Yes, sir, Evangeline said. I'll be there in an hr, she said then hung up.
WHAT THE HE**!
Los Angeles DA's office:
Burke, Quinn said. The judge just got us a search warrant for her office.
Let the LT know that they have a go, Quinn told Burke.
As he and Quinn waited, Burke thought:
She's crossed the line once, who's to say it was only once.
They'd also gotten a warrant to look at her financials.
Burke had seen her around, she wore suits that cost way more than she made; she lived in a fancy PH apartment. Where was she getting the money?
Hopefully they would soon find out. His boss didn't want to spook her, so their questions would have nothing to do with their investigation.
1 hr later:
Showtime, Burke said.
Thank you for coming Ms. Williamson, Burke said as she walked in.
Not a problem, Evangeline said.
We just have some questions about a man you represented 2 years ago; a Marcus Ruckher, DA Quinn Lewis stated.
I remember him; it was a pro bono case. He was arrested for assault of a school bus driver, Evangeline said.
He assaulted the driver after his child was dropped off 10 minutes late due to traffic, Burke said.
Well, the reason we're here is that he has a new attorney; and they are filing an appeal on the grounds that's he was not properly represented at trial, Quinn said.
In other words, you didn't represent him to the best of your abilities, Burke stated.
WHAT! Evangeline shouted?
Ruckher's attorney requested all of the courts transcripts, as well as everything you have on the case, Quinn said.
Why wasn't I contacted about this, Evangeline demanded to know?
DA Quinn Lewis didn't think very highly of Evangeline Williamson. He'd heard of how she treated pro bono cases. She did only the bare minimum required. He wondered how many more cases like Ruckher's they'd find.
Burke then took a call from the judge.
The judge granted Mr. Lee's request. He ordered that someone from our office go with her, to make sure she hands over everything, Burke whispered to Quinn.
Go get Jackson, I want him to go with her, Quinn told Burke.
Ms. Williamson, my office has been ordered by Judge Grant to accompany you to your office, and get all the files pertaining to the Ruckher case, Quinn stated flatly.
FINE! Evangeline yelled.
Llanview:
Asa had gotten the pictures of Evangeline's building. It was in great shape.
Now for the next part of his plan:
Hello
Yes, Asa Buchanan here.
What can I do for you sir?
I need you to start eviction on a tenant in the Pacific Heights complex, Asa said.
Which tenant?
Evangeline Williamson, Asa stated.
What reasons are we giving for eviction?
She broke the tenants' agreement, Asa said.
Okay, I'll get it started.
I want her out in 2 weeks, no exceptions, Asa said then hung up.
Salt Lake City:
Natalie felt a little bit better today after her confession about Cris and the abuse to her parents yesterday.
The girls were already up and dressed. She was taking them to the Hogle Zoo.
Let's go mom, Calleigh shouted. I want to see the animals.
Okay honey, let's go, Natalie said.
To the Zoo!
Llanview:
Bo had been calling all BE locations; he was trying to locate Clint. He had a bad feeling. What was his brother up to?
He and Cord were having no luck in finding Clint.
Uncle Bo, Cord said.
Anything, Bo asked his nephew?
He's not in London, Paris, Moscow Tokyo or CA. He's vanished, Cord said.
I have a bad feeling in my gut Cord. Clint is planning something, Bo said.
We'll be prepared, Cord said.
