The Secret of the Chamber of Secrets

Chapter 13

"…Professor, I don't know what to do!!! No matter what I try, she won't wake up!! She won't react to any of my spells or potions but she's healing faster from the effects than anybody in history!! Should we call her parents??!!

"No Poppy, I don't think it will come to that. Ms. Weasley is a very special young lady and will come back to us when she is ready…"

When I woke up, I made a mental note to never get hit by that spell again. My back was sore and covered in bruises from where I hit the wall and there was bandaging around my torso. My best guess for that was a bruised rib or something. Shifting a bit I groaned as pain shot through my body.

"Hell isn't it?" A mocking voice spoke out next to me. I turned my head, wincing at the pain that was caused, to see Malfoy in the bed beside me.

"Who won, or was it a tie?" I managed to croak out, my throat extremely dry. He raised his eyebrows at me and smirked.

"First thing you say when you wakeup is who won? Wow Weasley, I expected better of you being a Gryffindor and all. Shouldn't you be asking me whether I'm ok or not?" At my glare, he laughed and continued.

"It was a tie, but nobody looked happy about it. I think it was because we used Dark spells, though they haven't said a word about punishment. Probably were waiting till you were awake. Madame Pomfrey was waddling about the whole Hospital Wing, yelling that you wouldn't wake up and how her spells had no effect on you."

His voice was teasing and I knew that he was looking for more hints as to what my secret was. And I couldn't hold back a groan as I realized the voices I had dreamed about were probably real. For a guy so good at keeping secrets Dumbledore seemed to have a rather obvious lack of tact. God knows who else heard his hints about me being special, a phrasing like that from a man like that would put thoughts into anybody's head.

"Congratulations Weasley on almost beating me. Now if you don't mind my asking, how did you get so good?" I glared at him again before snapping back.

"I do mind you asking and how many times must I say it??!! I study a lot!!" His grey eyes narrowed but just then Madame Pomfrey waddled in, drawn by my raised voice. She immediately started fussing over me, helping me sit up and telling me of my injuries. I had been right, my entire back was one giant bruise and I had bruised 3 ribs and fractured 2. I saw Malfoy wince when he heard what had happened to me. Madame Pomfrey gave me some potions and waited for something.

"It's like I feared, darling. My Dreamless Sleep potion isn't working on you. I need for you to sleep while you heal, but without the potion, I doubt you'll be able to with you injuries." I frowned at what she said. Potions worked on me before.

"Madame Pomfrey, is it okay if Myrtle gets me something for me? No one else knows where anything is in my room and I don't want people snooping." Madame Pomfrey looked at me curiously and nodded.

"Fine, I'll call her but I want you to try to sleep in the meantime. If you can't then it's okay but don't move." She turned to go call Myrtle when the ghost in question entered the Hospital Wing. Madame Pomfrey looked a little shocked but let Myrtle though.

"Hey Gin, how ya' feelin'?"

"Not too great Myrtle. I need some painkillers and Dreamless Sleep potion. I have a few bottles in my room. Could you get them for me?"

"Sure. Just give me a sec. By the way, congrats on first place. I just didn't expect you to share it though." I gave a wry smile at that.

"Me either. Pass on the message that I'm alright while you're at it. No reason for anybody to worry."

"Yeah. Everybody was ready to force their way into the Hospital Wing to see their precious 'Mistress'. If I wasn't there to stop them, you'd have a large audience by now, most of it unwelcomed by others." Chuckling Myrtle left and the Hospital Wing plunged into an uneasy silence. Malfoy continued to study my face while I ignored him and studied the Hospital Wing, trying to think of an excuse for when the Professors would question me. I gave a sigh of relief when Myrtle finally returned with the potions. Madame Pomfrey came back in to see what Myrtle brought me.

"Ms. Weasley, my potions are the strongest possible. I don't think your own will help you any more than mine did." I shrugged at the nurse.

"My potions always worked on me before. Maybe they'll work again." I thanked Myrtle and took a sip of the Pain-Be-Gone potion I had made in the Chamber. I waited about a minute until I felt the potion kick in. With a satisfied smile and a sigh of relief I stretched my sore muscles a bit. After another deep sigh, I turned back to my bedside table and got the bottle of Dreamless Sleep potion. I took a small sip, enough for about 7 or 8 hours of sleep, and made sure I didn't swallow any just yet. I closed the bottle and put it back onto the bedside table. Snuggling into the bed, I swallowed and muttered a quick goodnight before I fell asleep.

Hogwarts Library, the day before:

"Hermione!!! What are you doing!!! My sister is not a dark witch. She's perfectly harmless unless you get on her bad side."

"Perfectly harmless, huh? Well then why is she still in the Hospital Wing? She was hit by her own spell, Ron. And that was a Dark spell that's not taught anywhere but Durmstang. The spell is not even in the Hogwarts library. So where did she learn it from? I'm not gonna rest until I find an answer and prove that she's evil."

"Hermione, you've crazy. My sister is not evil and I won't let you hurt her!!"

"Fine Ron, don't help me. Harry will and you'll regret it when I prove that Ginny's gone evil."

"No Hermione. I'm not helping you either. Ron's right and what you're doing is madness fueled by jealousy. You heard her. She knows that you're doing all this because you're jealous and that the only way to beat her is to do better than her. Proving she's evil is not gonna work nor is it gonna help."

"Fine!! If neither of you help me, then I'll do it myself. Some best friends you are. But what if she's still possessed by Tom? You heard her say that she's still like Tom. If I find proof that she's being possessed again, then what? You're just gonna let Ginny get hurt like that again?" There was a pause as both boys stopped to think about it.

"Fine Hermione, we'll help you. But you will not hurt Ginny or do anything until we have proof that she's being possessed. Got it?"

"Got it. Now you two look through these books and see if you can find anything on some of the spells she did last night. Maybe there's a side effect or something to them that she didn't know about…"

When I woke up again, I saw a different bottle of pain killer potion on my bedside table. The original had been blue while this one was red. I recognized it as mine though by the crest on the top. The sleep potion was gone as well. I took a dose of Pain-Be-Gone potion and thanked Myrtle for bringing multiple bottles. Stretching my muscles again, I got out of bed and went out in search of my missing potions. Heading towards Madame Pomfrey's office I saw the light under her door. As I got closer, I heard voices arguing in the office. About to turn back to go to bed and worry about it tomorrow, I stopped when I heard my name.

I walked up to the door and found myself to be the center of discussion, my potions to be exact. From what I heard it seemed that Madame Pomfrey had taken my potions to Snape to be tested. She was afraid that they could be bad for my health. The results from Snape were astounding. He was shocked with the results so he took them to Professor Dumbledore who had called Professor McGonagall and now they were arguing again. It seemed that Professor McGonagall wanted Professor Snape to train me in potions. My potions were very powerful and she believed I had the potential to be a great Potions Master.

Snape on the other hand didn't trust the results and believed that I had gotten the potions from somewhere else. The potions I brewed in class were unnaturally strong but not this strong. He believed that no 6th year would be able to brew anything this strong, gifted or not. Madame Pomfrey agreed with McGonagall. She said that Snape was just being difficult because the potions that were tested were stronger than his. The three continued to argue like this until a fourth voice spoke up.

"I have a solution to this problem. We can simply test Ms. Weasley and if her potions come out to be as strong as these, we'll take further actions from there. Do you agree with that Ms. Weasley?" The door opened in front of me and I smiled guiltily.

"Young lady!! What are you doing out of bed??!! With those fractured ribs you shouldn't be moving at all!! I thought you had at least that much sense!!" Madame Pomfrey immediately pushed me back into bed. The other Professors followed me back to me bed. Both McGonagall and Snape had disapproving looks on their faces. They didn't look too happy to see me. Dumbledore on the other hand was smiling like Christmas had come early. His blue eyes were twinkling as I settled back into bed.

"So Ms. Weasley, do you agree? Will you let us test your potion making skills?"

"I don't know Professor. What happens if I do agree to be tested?"

"Well Ms. Weasley. You have two choices. Either tell us where you got those potions or prove that you were the one who brewed them. Make your decision but if you want to save time, just tell us where you got those potions from." Snape snapped at me grumpily.

Sighing I nodded.

"I'll be tested. When do you want to do it and where?"

"Whenever you feel up to it Ms. Weasley and I believe Professor Snape will want to test you in his personal lab." Dumbledore smiled at me, eyes twinkling. I bet that old coot loved playing with everybody. I scowled at him, feeling grumpy.

"Fine, but I want to bring my own ingredients." Snape narrowed his eyes at me but nodded.

"I will bring a list of the potions you will be making tomorrow."

"Great. We'll do this tomorrow night then."

"Absolutely not! Ms. Weasley, you still have fractured ribs to heal and just because they don't hurt too much that doesn't mean you're okay!!"

"If you check my pain killing potion, you'll find that it has a form of healing potion mixed in. It's my own blend and if I take the potion every 8-12 hours, I'll be perfectly fine tomorrow night. If you check me now, you'll find that the bruises on my back are almost all gone and my fractures are fractured no more. If I do anything over exerting, I may fracture them again but I'll be well enough to be tested tomorrow. And if Malfoy receives half a table spoon of my potion, you can discharge him tomorrow as well.

Madame Pomfrey just stared at me in surprise. I turned to see all the Professors staring at me. It was Professor McGonagall who spoke the question on all the adults' minds.

"Ms. Weasley, why do you have a healing potion mixed in with pain killers?" I gave her a wry smile.

"I tend to be very clumsy Professor. It helps me when I hurt myself by tripping over the things in my cluttered room. And if you think about it, you're usually in pain when you get hurt, so I just make them together to lessen the amount of potions you need to take."

"Oh." Was all she said. Needing some time alone to think about this predicament, I faked a big yawn. Seeing it, Madame Pomfrey gave me my bottle of Dreamless Sleep potion and swept all the Professors out of the Hospital Wing. I smiled at her gratefully and snuggled into bed. She then went back to her office and turned off the lights. The Hospital Wing was bathed in moonlight and shadows. I turned on my side to look out my window but before I could get some serious thinking done, Malfoy spoke up.

"Interesting Weasley, very interesting. You've been full of so many surprises this year and it's still the first week of October. You know Dark spells, brew powerful potions, and have somehow made it into almost all seventh year classes without anyone noticing; what next? Can you talk to snakes too?" Sighing I turned to him with a cynical look on my face.

"I'm talking to you aren't I?"
"Oooo, and you bite as well. Why don't you come a little closer and let me take a bite out of you? I promise you won't be disappointed." His voice was low and husky and the thought to go over there and hold him up to his offer actually crossed my mind. A few times. Blaming it on hormones I thought of how to reply to that and it hit me. I grinned wickedly in the dark.

I pulled the covers off and sat up in the bed. I knew he could hear me and I was loud enough to make sure he knew what I was up to. I was smothered in darkness, but he was illuminated by moonlight. The silver coming from the moon made him look like a pleasantly surprised angel. Those silky silver blonde locks of his fell into his enchanting grey eyes. His face was all angles, aristocratic and superior to all those that looked upon him. I wondered if it was his attitude that made him seem that way or if really did look noble. He looked beautiful in the moonlight without loosing his masculinity. The surprised look changed to one of sinful promises and my breath caught in my throat.

His entire bed was bathed in light and everything else around him was dark. I got up and took a step towards him. The scenery was kinda ironic. He looked like an angel sent to me to save me from the darkness, but he was truly a devil in disguise. I took another slow step towards him and my breathing quickened. In the dark I stumbled against the bedside table. I steadied myself and my breathing before moving forward again. I reached the edge of the darkness and tentatively pushed one pale hand into the light. His eyes flicked over to my hand and he lifted one of his to meet mine. His fingers were cold when he grasped my hand and he pulled me forward into the light.

His eyes swept over my body hungrily and I could feel my pulse racing. My heartbeat was so loud that I was positive he could hear it. He sat up in the bed and brought my hand up to his lips. Lightly brushing them over my knuckles he turned it over so that he could see my pulse in my wrist trying to break free of the flesh. He pulled my hand up to his mouth and lightly brushed his lips against my palm, trailing it up to my pulse point. He then licked over my pulse and I froze. Shaking my head I lightly pulled my hand away. His eyes flicked back up to my face and he grabbed my hand again. This time he tugged me forward and his other hand came to snake around my neck.

He pulled me closer and closer and I sat down lightly on the edge of his bed. His eyes roamed across my face to settle on my lips. The hand around my neck pushed itself into my hair and pulled my face to his. I let him pull me forward until we were close enough to touch if one of us took a deep breath. I stared into his grey eyes and felt extremely confused by the feelings running through me. His hands were cold yet wherever they touched me, they left a trail of fire behind. I leaned forward and tentatively brushed my lips against his. He got the point and closed the distance between our lips.

The moment his lips touched mine, tingles spread throughout my body. They started with my lips and ran down to my toes. His lips were velvety soft against mine and very gentle. He didn't push too hard but wasn't kissing me like I would break. He opened his mouth and gently brushed his tongue against my lips. I reluctantly took the chance he offered me. I opened my lips against his and pushed the mix of Dreamless Sleep and Pain-Be-Gone potions into his mouth. He jerked back from me but I made sure I kept our lips connected and made him swallow. Slowly I pulled away from him and opened my eyes to meet his shocked ones. I whispered goodnight and watched as his eyes drooped and he fell back into his bed, asleep.

I stayed there watching him sleep regretfully. It had felt wonderful when he kissed me and I didn't want it to have ended so soon. I gave a loud sigh, knowing that he would never want to kiss me again, at least not anytime soon. But I was happy. I lifted trembling fingers to my lips and blushed at what I just did. Shaking my head, I walked back into the darkness where my bed lay. Settling in, I couldn't keep the silly grin off my face. For my first kiss, it was great. I took the potion myself and lay back in bed. I fell asleep smiling, my lips still tingling from the contact with his.
