Chapter 13: Sunset
Pitch answered Kagome's arrow by letting sand-tentacle shot fort, that destroyed the arrow and went after the girl. Backfliping, Kagome purified her bow as baseball bat using the sand. But before she could land or recover, Pitch suddenly punched her in the stomach, making her fly through the wall. Seeing as there was nothing below, she spun around and landed on one of the falling rock. Jumped from one to another, she made her way back to where Pitch was and immediately released an strong arrow.
The fear incarnation dodged it quickly, smirking all the while. He called fort his scythe and attacked her. Barely able to block it with her bow while landing, it make her hit a hall column and groan in pain. Quickly she let herself fall to her knees to escape while Pitch cut down the column. She sent a purifying blast towards him before taking aim again with a bow and jumping out of the way.
He avoided blast and arrow by using the shadows and reappearing on the other side of the room. Beside the column with the Shikon no Tama. "Shikon!"the guardian shouted and rushed forward while aiming a arrow. But too late. Pitch eat the germ while smiling at her. "That's for taking the children. And now..."he grinned and melted in the shadows.
Instinctive jumping the side, Kagome dodged a sand tentacle and shoot it. Turning around, she found Pitch standing there, arms spread in a willcomming gesture. Black bullets shoot out the dark from behind him. She ran to the left to hide behind a column, but the bullet salve, always just millimeters behind her, shoot right though, so she kept running. She ran down the hall towards him and throw her reiki-filled bow at him. It missed him, but took care of the sand behind him.
When he looked back her, she jumped and pushed her flat hand in his face. Before he could react, she had released a strong blue light, senting him flying against the wall. "You will return Shikon."she growled and moved closer , only stopping to pick her bow up. Pitch stumpled to his feet and called his scythe out, as Shikon turned the darkest black she had ever seen on it. "Never.",he growled back.
Kagome pulled a arrow out of her quierer and aimed as Pitch raced towards her, taking aim as well.
The doors flew open. "Kagome!" She turned around shocked and had a blade impaled in her chest. She saw Jack's eyes widen as he rushed towards her. Heard her mother's scream and saw Souta's tears, as they entered the door on Kiara. Deep pain in the neko's eyes. Turning, she looked at Pitch and blasted him away from her. With the scythe gone, her legs gave away.
Jack caught her before she hit the floor. Shocked he stared at the wound. This... Remembering something, he put his hand over the wound, ignoring how the girl hissed in pain. He tried to freeze it to call fort the same resonance that healed him before, but her small hand wrapped around his and pulled it away. "It won't work."she whispered with difficulty. "I got nothing left."
"You don't know that. I won't let you go."he shook his head and was about to try again. Her other hand found his cheek, making him look down at her. She smiled, when she saw him so desperate. "I lo..ve you..."she whispered and tried to reach his face, but was to weak. Jack understood, and while freezing her wound, kissed her.
Her hand fell to her side. Jack moved away from her face a bit with pained eyes. He looked down at her wound and tried to freeze it again, but the ice only became tighter. There was no blue light, no healing. Pulling his hand back, he hugged her thightly, buring his face in her neck. He didn't notice how her shocked and mourning family came closer.
"Now, now, Jack."Pitch called smiling from the other side of the room. "I have to say; Thanks for you're help."
Shouting in anger, Jack graped his staff and throw a attack at Pitch that froze half the room. "Shut up."he growled. "Shut the hell up!" He held Kagome even closer to himself, looking at her face one more time. "Kiara, take care of her." He laid her gentle on the ground. Then he looked up to Pitch, who had escaped through the shadows, and his eyes became ice cold. Within a second he was across the room and hitting Pitch with his staff.
The dark spirit blocked them easily blocked them and, laughing loudly, swung his scythe. Jack dodged it by flying upwards while senting a ice beam down. Sand stopped it. Bullets shot out of it, but Jack froze them in midair. Shooting towards Pitch, he shattered the sand with a wind wave and punched him with staff. The other spat something out. It didn't matter to Jack, who sent another wave of ice. Hitting the protective sand, it became a column between the two fighters.
Shiftly flying around it, Jack attacked again, freezing a large area. Pitch fell from the shadows in the roof and sliced over Jack's back. He however managed to hit the fear incarnation's arm and freeze it.
Souta watched with a grim face, as they continue to fight. He could hear Pitch laugh in his mind, while Jack's was completly blank. He understood why. Looking at his dead sister, he feel the same blind anger. His mother was hugging the girl while crying. Kiara shook with anger, but didn't move from they're side. Neither of them noticed something rolling closer to them.
Kagome looked around and did her best to block the snake youkai that attacked her. She had no weapons and no reiki. The memory of her dead was still fresh, but how did she end up here, in this dark place full of youkai, she had no idea. Was this hell? It sounded logical, but all she had fought in war. But this... If they had wanted, these creatures had more than one opportunity to rip her apart. Or was that part of the torture? To never know? Then again, those attacks, it was as if the youkai were in angry. "We'll destroy you!"one- a tiger- yelled. Why were they angry? These youkais ... were they...?
Spears and axes shot out of the dark. Jack flew backwards while blocking each of them. He sent a ice wave, but Pitch disappeared in the shadows. Reappearing behind the winter spirit he took a wide swing. It was block just in time. The younger spirit's glace could kill. He flew and pushed till the bigger one hit the wall and hided in the shadows again.
"Why?"questioned a voice as a youkai hit Kagome hard enough to nearly make her black out. "Why did you betray us?" There was so much anger, it made her want to hide. But she forced herself to stand and look up. "Shikon?"she asked hesitantly. Loud growls echoed from all sides. "Traitor! Why did you choose the boy over us?! We always stood on your side!"
Jack jumped and hit Pitch hard enough to make him go to his knee, but black sand catapulted him against a wall. Pitch laughed loud. "Is that all you got?" he scoffed, but looked around for something. Nearly he didn't notice the ice wave coming towards her.
Another punch in the chest. "Why aren't you fighting?" A growl. A punch in the back. "Because I'm your guardian, baka!"Kagome shouted back. Her whole body was hurting. The youkai stopped their attacks. "You are pretty tired of life, calling us names."one voice, many voices said. "Fine, you want us back? Then promise you'll never betray us again! Not for this boy and not for anyone! Refuse and we eat your soul!" The miko didn't answered at first. And when she did, it was something, the Shikon no Tama would have never thought she would say. "Shikon no Tama, I wish you would look in my mind, at everything.",she shouted. "Then you'll understand why I could never do that!" -"That idiotic love of yours is your doom!"
Blocking the blade with his staff, Jack pushed it to the side, while shooting ice at his opponent. Pitch blocked it with the sand and attacked with the scythe. A side-jump save the white-haired boy. He countered with a ice wave, but it was stopped by the sand again. The sand shoot forward and hit him right in the chest. Hitting the wall, he had to shake his head a few times till he could see clear enough to stand up again. Pitch grinned at him.
Then the smirk disappeared. Jack followed his glace and his heart skipped a beat. The ice under his feet was glowing in a soft blue light. He spun around to where he left her with her family and couldn't believe it. There she was, sitting on the edge of the ice and smiling at him weakly. He flew to her side and touched her cheek softly. Warm. She raised her powers and he answered by letting it snow. Both could fell their wounds heal at once, but much more the emotionals than the physical ones. "How?" he whispered, still not completely believing it.
"That damn germ!"growled Pitch and send sand from every corner. Kagome and Jack smiled at each other and hugged each other while the spirit swung his staff in Pitch's direction. The ice quickly took over the whole room, freezing Pitch and his sand in the process. From there the glowing ice spreaded into every room and every corner till the whole lair was frozen. Jack turned to the girl in his arms. "So Shikon brought you back? I-"
"That's damn right."the gem suddenly appeared in his face. "And if you hurt her we will rip you apart with bubblegum! You will cherish her as mate!"
The boy blinked bewildered. He could fell Kagome hide her red face in his chest. "They mad, they- I have no idea why they think I'm y-",she mumbled embarrassed, but he cut her off by saying seriously: "Of course." She sweatdropped at first, but then smiled. This was so awkward.
A call made the attention of the three sift to where Kiara flew with Souta and Mrs. Higurashi on her back.

North and the others where sending the children home by various ways. Tooth had her fairies carry them. Bunnymund and Eri leaded them through the Easter Tunnels. Sandi made small sand jets for them. Yuka and Ayumi, not able to do such a thing, helped the Yetis to take care of the waiting children that had no other place than the workshop. North just came back from bringing some kids to Oslo, when a woman in a long red winter dress and white hair came up to him. "Samanta!"he greeted her with open arms, but then hesitated as he saw her worried face. "What is it, Darling?"
Samanta looked around hesitantly. "I knew, I did say I wanted kids, but..." She quiet down and looked at the hundred and hundreds of children. She had visit her friend, Mother Earth, for a few days and now she had come home to this... North followed her glace, looked her up and down and started laughing. "That is no laughing matter!"his wife snapped. In the background tooth shook her head and looked worried at the clock.
Just then a portal open and the spirit of winter and the Higurashis stepped out. Tooth hurried over to them.
