My weekend seemed to be filled with nothing but the Cullen's. Friday night Jasper stayed with me and guarded me. His arms stayed right around me, cradling me like he always did. We discussed the point Esme had brought up about how the people who took me must not have wanted to hurt me because you would've thought that they would've hurt me when they kidnapped me. Jasper, too, thought this was strange and promised to bring it up with Carlisle.

Charlie was reluctant to let me go on Saturday, but after much convincing (and some possible help from my boyfriend) he allowed me to go back to the Cullen's house on Saturday.

"Geez," He'd said as he walked Jasper and I to the door, "you're almost as crazy about them as Bella."

Bella was spending the day out at La Push with Jake. Apparently there was some bonfire going on that night and she'd went early to help Emily prepare the food. She'd invited me to go, but I already knew Jasper wouldn't be excited about it and besides the Cullen's was going to be way more fun if I was allowed to do what we'd planned on doing this weekend: trying out my vampire abilities.

"Well, Carlisle did want to do one final look over of her to make sure she was okay." Jasper smiled at me. "so if you want you can blame him."

I'd thought maybe Jasper had threw in Carlisle so Charlie wouldn't completely be opposed to letting us go, but it turned out that he was serious. Immediately after we'd arrived he'd pulled me upstairs for a brief inspection. Once again, like yesterday I was fine.

"Can we test out my vampire abilities?" I asked quiet excited. I'd been waiting for this all week but then the stupid vampire kidnapper person screwed it all up.

He looked unenthusiastic about doing so. I'd never been one to beg, seeing as it never worked with Maria or Derek, so I let it drop but I was visibly disappointed. Carlisle gave it a few more moments thought then agreed to try 'light activities', whatever those were.

We all went out to a clearing where they'd supposedly played baseball. This place made Edward a little nervous, I could tell by the way he stood, though I didn't know why. I was seriously excited. I'd never thought of myself as special before so this would be fun to test out my 'special' abilities. Honestly, I had no idea how we were going to pull this off. How do you teach someone to be faster again? Surely, Carlisle would have a plan right? Well he didn't.

"Um, I'm not really sure how we're going to teach you this..." He admitted once we'd all gotten to the clearing.

Edward rolled his eyes, "Then what are we going to do?"

"Should she even be doing this?" Rosalie demanded. Clearly she wasn't excited about anything to do with me and entering their lives.

Jasper glared at her, "She's fine."

"Perhaps if she's in danger it'll help?" Emmett mused and I couldn't help but laugh, earning me a steady glare from Emmett.

"Sorry, I've never heard you use such a sophisticated word such as perhaps." I giggled holding on to Jasper as my protector from his big burly brother.

He looked offended, "You know I can be smart sometimes. I'm not a complete idiot."

"Could've fooled me." Edward muttered shaking his head. Emmett turned his glare to him and I was grateful for the distraction.

"Look, let's focus and just try a few things. You can see us correct?" Carlisle asked as he flew across the clearing.

I nodded, being able to see every step he took.

"Weird I thought she was blind." Emmett chuckled to himself. Rosalie smacked him on the back of the head. Something told me that happened often.

"It does." Edward answered my thoughts.

I watched Carlisle run back to us at incredible speed and I questioned whether or not I'd actually be able to do this. I certainly didn't feel different or more special than a normal human. Maybe this was a bad idea...

"Probably," Eddie picked through my mind again, "Emmett might laugh at you a lot and make fun of you until the end of time."

"I wonder if you'll age..." Carlisle mused suddenly. Oh great Edward got him started on a doctoral study.

Rosalie sighed dramatically, "Can we please focus and get this over with?"

"It might take a while," Carlisle told her, "you don't have to stay. None of you really needed to come either."

Emmett shrugged, being excited about a chance to make fun of me. Everyone stayed put and so did Rosalie.

Carlisle turned his attention back to me, "So I'm not really sure how to do this. We're just going to try a few things that will most likely end up being for our entertainment. Why don't you try running to that tree."

I shrugged, "Get ready to laugh you guys."

"Shoulda brought some popcorn. Wanna wait for me while I go get some?" Emmett busted out laughing. Rosalie smacked him on the head again.

"See." Edward chuckled gesturing to his siblings.

Carlisle nodded at me to go and I ran as fast as I could to the tree. I could hear Emmett booming with laughter behind me and I knew I was no faster than normal.

"That was like...grandma speed!" Emmett roared with laughter. Even Rosalie was giggling.

"Har har guys. Real funny." I called back, my cheeks became a light pink. Jasper slapped Emmett on the arm and made him stop laughing.

Carlisle had me try a few other things but nothing worked. He seemed just as frustrated as me.

"I know you can do it. You've done it before as a child." He ran his hand through his hair.

"Maybe I lost it..." I said defeated. This was not going as I'd planned.

Carlisle shook his head vigorously, "It can't be. That stuff doesn't just happen!"

"Are you sure?" I asked. After all I was abnormal in the vampire world.

He looked at me asking through expression whether he needed to answer that.

Jasper cradled me to his chest, stroking my hair.

Emmett still wore that stupid smirk, causing me to blush and feel

embarrassed. Jaspers arms tightened around me at my change of emotion. Even at his touch, I couldn't bring myself to feel comforted. Though thats what I typically felt with him. Especially after being taken from school and having God knows what done to me.

That had to be the scariest part, not knowing what they did. I didn't feel any physical pain. No way they wanted to use Jasper to do extensive mental/emotional pain. Otherwise I don't think they'd given me back fully knowing I'd go straight back to Jasper and the Cullens and then I'd find out the truth. It didn't make sense. Id never encountered any vampires before the Cullens, there was no way I'd done ill to them.

A small drop of water brought me out of my thoughts. The sky was covered in clouds, each one a slightly different grey.

"We need to go back in before she gets cold." Jasper announced behind me.

Carlisle-dad sighed, but agreed with him.

All the while Emmett chuckled at my running troubles earning glares from me

and Jasper both.

"You sir, are an asshole." I said in my best english accent while continuing to glare.

Emmett burst out laughing along with Edward and Jasper. My father looked almost disappointed. Almost.

Jasper hugged me tightly still chuckling. His arms cradled my body and I wished for nothing more than to stay there forever.

"Ya know, theres a reason you two are mates," Emmett attempted to look upset with me, "I think I know why now."

"And whys that?" Jasper demanded pulling away from me slightly so he could have a better look at his brother.

Emmetts face turned into a cautious smirk, "Because you're both evil."

Evil...that was a new one for me. And I personally doubted that Jasper was evil. He didn't seem evil, just overprotective.

"Hey now," Jasper countered, "Livi isn't evil. I may be evil, but Livi's not evil."

"No I'm pretty sure you're both evil." Emmett disagreed holding Rose closer to him like she could protect him from Jasper.

A growl slipped from Jasper's lips and I was surprised he was taking this so seriously. I'd thought Emmett was kidding.

Edward answered my thoughts, "He is. Jasper chill out."

"You chill out!" Jasper snapped at him leaving my side to get in his brothers face.

"Jasper, enough." Carlisle dismissed his anger.

He continue to stand and growl at Edward.

"You're a lunatic." Edward muttered. Jasper and him must've been mind talking. Though Jasper can't read Edwards mind. "Besides, shouldn't you be mad at Emmett? What'd I do?"

Jazzy sent a glare to Emmett as well before continuing with his attack on Edward.

"Well, she is. You heard her." Edward replied to something in Jaspers head again. This only know in half of the conversation crap was getting on my nerves.

Apparently everyone else thought so too.

"What are you two talking about?" Rosalie demanded from her place by Emmett, who looked rather confused at the whole thing.

"You're on thin ice Edward." Jasper growled just barely loud enough for me to hear.

"Hey did anyone ever tell you about the time Edward kissed Olivia?" Emmett announced loudly. Alice turned and hissed at him looking quite murderous. I on the other hand tried to hide the fear that had crept into my emotions so maybe Jasper would thing he was kidding.

Jasper paused for a moment as if thinking about something, then he lunged at Edward and they started fighting. Carlisle and the idiot, I mean Emmett, went over and tried to drag Jasper away from Edward with very little success. Alice and Rosalie had to help as well before they actually were able to allow Edward to stand.

Alice stared at me expectantly like I was supposed to be doing something. Jasper still stood growling at Edward attempting to break free of their grasp.

"Will you come help us?" Rosalie growled at me after a few moments.

Jasper snarled at her.

I walked over cautiously not exactly sure what they wanted me to do. It must've shown.

"Calm him down like you did the other day." Alice told me impatiently.

Alice and Rosalie moved so I could actually touch Jasper. I wrapped my arms around him and placed my head on his chest as I hugged him. He ripped his arms out of his families grasp and I was worried he'd go for Edward again. Instead he mimicked my movements placing his head on top of mine.

His grip tightened slightly as what I assumed were Edwards footsteps came closer to us.

"Incredible." My father whispered behind us, watching in awe.

"All that when all we really had to do was make Olivia give him a hug. How stupid. Why didn't you tell us that before?" Emmett complained to Alice.

She sighed, "You're the one who told him."

Jasper stiffened in my arms. But to my surprise he didn't seem angry.

"I can't be angry when you're next to me." Jasper whispered placing a simple kiss on my forehead.

I wondered how on earth he'd known what I was thinking. Had I been speaking out loud and not known?

"No, its like things you think are being transferred to me...its weird." He replied casually as if this happens to everyone. Maybe it happened with every mating pair.

Jasper disagreed with me again, "Not that I know of."

Carlisle looked on in confusion now. Doctor mode was back. "You said she projects her thoughts to you?"

Jasper nodded removing his head from mine.

"Can you do the same back to her?"

He took his hand and placed it on my cheek. Hi love.

I gasped in amazement. How'd he do that? I thought he just had the gift of emotion controlling and stuff.

"He does. I think it's you." Edward whispered staring at me in wonder along with my father.

Carlisle put his hand on my hand, Olivia?

"Hi." I whispered staring at his hand. How is this happening?

"This is incredible," He stated removing his hand from mine. "have you ever been able to do this before?"

I shook my head no, staring at my hands. They looked normal...but Jasper touched my cheek and it worked too.

"This is the first day you've ever done this before?" Carlisle double checked.

"Yeah."

Jasper replaced his arms around my waist, "Did it work that time?"

"No, I didn't get anything."

He put his hand on my cheek again, Does it work now?

I nodded getting excited. I may not have had vampire speed or strenght but I did have gifts. Or rather a gift.

"It must only work if you touch her skin." My father mused.

"This is awesome! I do have a vampiric gift." I looked at my hands and then up to my father, who nodded in conformation.

"That's no fair. She's only half vampire and she gets a gift, but I'm a full blown vampire and I get shit? What kind've screwed up world is this?" Emmett demanded. The look on his face told us he was kidding.

More raindrops began to fall slowly. I smiled as a few landed on my cheeks and forehead.

Jasper wrapped his arm around my waist. "Lets go inside."

The rest of the family agreed and started towards the house. Emmett picked me up out of Jasper's arms and carried me, in a full sprint, back home. My hair was damp from the light misty rain. He set me back down once we were inside and proceeded to shake out his hair flinging water droplets at me.

I gasped in surprise and tried to hit him on the arm. He dodged me for the most part but I got a good shove in sending him clear across the room.

My eyes widened in surprise and as I looked around the room my expression matched everyone else's.

"How do I keep doing that?" I whispered staring at my hands.

My father came closer to me, "You've done this before?"

"Yeah. Only recently though. Since I've moved here."

"When does it usually happen?"

"I don't know, I can't ever seem to make it happen when I want it too. Usually it surprises me."

Carlisle took my hand and looked at it rubbing it and pressing on certain spots, watching my reaction. "You're uncontrolled with it that's why. That's what we should've been doing today. Perhaps there's an underlying reason why this happens."

"What are you doing?" Jasper asked entering the room with Edward close behind.

"Your beach of a girlfriend shoved me clear across the freaking room." Emmett complained loudly sending glares and mouthed threats at me.

Edward frowned in confusion, "Beach?"

Emmett groaned shaking his head, "Its like bitch but a little nicer."

"I always thought a beach was by the ocean." I chimed in trying to make Emmett a little more upset.

"Not in this context." He seemed upset that we all were 'so stupid.'

Jasper sighed at our bantering, "Anyways, what's wrong then?"

"She doesn't know how she does this and doesn't have control of it. To a vampire its not lethal and just a buffer to temporarily pause attacks. For a human this kind've force could be deadly." My father explained to Jasper rubbing my hand some more.

Jazzy put his arm around my waist, "Yeah I know, she's done it to me before. It doesn't really feel like much but it really moves ya."

A disappointed look filled his face at me, "Why didn't you tell me you'd done this to him?"

"You didn't ask." I replied simply with a shrug. Jasper moved to cradle me in such a way that Carlisle's hands were removed from mine and I was shielded from my father.

I sighed audibly. He was so overprotective sometimes. It drove me crazy. What was my father honestly going to do to me? It's not like he'd kill me or anything right?

Jasper pretended not to notice my distress. As usual.

"Come on, love," Jasper nudged me gently, "we should get you home before Charlie gets upset. He didn't seem very excited about us spending time together."

"If he only knew." I muttered with a smirk.

We said our goodbyes and Jasper dropped me back off at home. Bella didn't get home until about ten. She was practically asleep when she walked in the door and I was grateful to Edward for driving her home. God knows what could've happened if she'd driven.

"How was it?" I stopped her in the hallway after we'd both said goodnight to Charlie.

She sighed and smiled, "It was pretty good. The tribal stories are actually pretty interesting."

"Like what ones?"

"There's only one; the very beginning and their relationship with vampires and why they shape shift. Honestly you should listen to it one time. Anyway, how was the Cullen's?"

I smiled, "Well...has Edward told you about me?"

She nodded pushing me into her room. After she shut the for she joined me on the bed, "Edward said you were Carlisle's daughter or something."

"Yeah, technically I'm half vampire I guess. So I found out today I don't have super speed but," I placed me hand against hers, "but I can show people my thoughts."

Bella's eyes widened as she understood what I meant, "Whoa... that's so weird and awesome at the same time. You never knew you had that?"

I shook my head, "Nope I had no clue at all. But yeah that's what we did."

"Sounds interesting and odd at the same time. Did Carlisle like murder you with his questions?"

A giggle escaped my lips as I gathered that Bella, too, had gotten the doctoral rants that my father seemed to give out endlessly. "Just about. He was upset I'd never told him about me pushing Jasper clear across my room once. I thought it was luck, Carlisle thinks it's a second gift."

"Maybe you don't have super speed, but super strength." She offered with a shrug. I pondered this thought a while. Perhaps she was right, but even still if that were the case surely Carlisle would've thought of it. Super strength seemed like a pretty basic gift to me.

"No?" Bella doubted her theory the more I thought of it.

Honestly I didn't know what to think, "Maybe, it seems almost to simple to be true though. It's probably right and we're just over thinking it."

"Carlisle considered that himself but had the same doubt's you do." Edward's voice sounded through the room making both Bella and I jump.

"Sorry." He apologized seeing our frightened holy-crap-I-almost-had-a heart-attack looks.

I sighed removing my hand from my heart. "Scared to death. I just died."

A cool hand checked my pulse.

"Nope pulse sounds good but let me check," Jasper put his head on my shoulder. "I still hear it so I guess it's safe to assume it's still working."

Bella shook her head and muttered, "Good God they just keep coming."

Jasper chuckled opting for a seat by me on the bed, "Sorry Bella that really wasn't good timing on my part."

"Its okay." Bella smiled shyly. She didn't seem too comfortable with Jasper and I wondered why. When we had a minute alone I'd have to ask her why.

Until then, I'd be perfectly content keeping Jasper all to myself and snuggling up to him. He was my favorite person after all.

"Come on baby, let's leave Bella and Edward alone and get some sleep." Jasper scooped me up in his arms effortlessly. I waved my goodnight as he carried me to my room down the hall.

He set me down in my bed and tucked me in. I reached for him as he pulled away, fearing he'd leave.

"Settle down love, I was just going to the other side of the bed." He chuckled at my nervous display as he crawled in my bed and held me in his arms but I couldn't bring myself to be embarrassed. I needed him like I needed air to breathe.

"I love you to Livi." Jasper whispered.

I looked at his arms that were touching mine and knew how he'd known what I thought.

Well this is going to take some getting used to.

His body shook beneath me with his soft laughter, "I know baby. I know."
