I know what I said. But I can't stop my heart from beating like a lunatic.

I can hear the hint of sadness –or is it the sound of pleading for forgiveness?– in his voice. But my smile doesn't falter, as if plastered on my face, my whiskers tickling my cheeks.

I stare at the two figures before me, their silhouettes mere shadowy lines clouded by my watery eyes. Only willing the moist away, I let out a shaky breath, clenching and unclenching my hands –eagerness or fear, I do not know.

I tilt my head, glancing at the snowy scenery, the dark trees contradicting the pureness of the snow. I can feel the chilly wind easing as if stopping to see the scene played before it, halting the snowflakes' dance.
