Raven is back in her dark, tiny cell where these strangers kept her. The followers of her father Trigon did not feed her and was determine to keep her too weak to used her powers. By keeping her in total darkness they believe that will help keep her disoriented, but they had made a mistake. Raven had spent most of her life in the dark, and the darkness was like a second home to her. Raven sat with her eyes closed, concentrated on a communication spell that will allow her to reach the Titans. She projects a miniature shadow of herself on the astral plane and sends it out to find a way out of the dark dimension where it can find her friends.
In Atlantis, Lucas made his guards bring out some of the prisoners from the dungeons and put them on public display. Then a communication went out across all of the city that said there would be an immediate execution of the prisoners of the state, starting with the first set of prisoners. The communication reaches the corner of Atlantis where the Titans were hiding.
"This is all your fault!" Shouts Aqualad while pointing his fingers in Nightwing's direction. "I told you that we should have gone for the throne. Now because of you, my people will be destroyed."
"Aqualad, this is a trick. Lucas can't find us, and he is using the prisoners to draw us out."
"More excuses from you, even now while my people are on the edge of being destroy."
"Gar, you know that he is right. We could never survive a direct attacked on Lucas's forces, this was the best way." Said Cyborg.
"None of you understand, that a ruler's number one priority must be to his people. I made a mistake in coming to you."
"No, you are wrong my friend. I am a princess from my home world, and I understand about royalty and putting your people first." Said Starfire.
"Nightwing, what are we going to do?" Ask Beast Boy.
"We are not going to let anyone be destroy; we came here to help saved Atlantis, not watch its people be lost."
"Nothing has changed, and we all know that Lucas will be waiting for us. We can't help anyone if we can capture." Said Wondergirl.
"Team, there was another reason for our hit and run tactics. I will explain later, but for now here is our plan to liberate Atlantis."
In the center square of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, several prisoners of the state had been convicted under Colonel Lucas's ruled and their punishment was to be carried out. Several of the sentry guards were there and surrounded the square were other citizens of the underwater city that Lucas had put under his curfew. He wanted to rule with fear, and what better fear tactic is there than letting them witness the punishment of those that broke his rules. Unknown to everyone gathered in the square but Lucas, his second in command and a few others is that this was a trap to capture the former king and his friends. He was very surprised that they had not shown up yet, that just meant that Aqualad was not in charge. He was too emotional and reckless. But this surface dweller that Lucas had not met yet was someone that he had respect for. He was a strategist just like Lucas and a good planner. Yes, Lucas knew they were there watching and waiting to make their move. No matter how much planning the surface dweller was doing, Lucas was confident that he could not match his years of military experience. Aqualad and his surface dweller friends would find him ready for anything. Let them come.
As the prisoners were put into position, and the gathered crowd became silent knowing what was to come next. Then a sonic boom from Cyborg shook the ground were the guards surrounding the crown stood. Then with the super-speed Aqualad dispatches all the sentries standing by the prisoners. The crowd erupts in applause as they see their former king has return to liberate the city. In the chaos that follow, Starfire attacked the military war machines that were used to help forced the people together in the square. Beast Boy joins in the attack as he changes into a hammerhead shark and knocks down a group of soldiers. Then Nightwing appears and dispatches the last of the guards that were standing guard over the prisoners.
Colonel Lucas watched the Titans attacked his soldiers and when he saw Nightwing appear he smiled. Then he gave the signal for his second wave to attack. His soldiers rush in from all sides closing in on the Titans. Beast Boy had shaped into a giant squid to meet the onslaught of soldiers hoping that his giant size would give him an advantage, which it did for the first few moments. Too late did he realize that his giant size work to the soldiers advantage too because he was the biggest target for them to concentrate on. Their heavy laser fire and the large blasters from the city gates zeroed in on his large presence soon eliminated Beast Boy from the equation. By their sheer numbers, the soldiers prevented the Titans from regrouping or escaping this time. Starfire shouts in her native language from her planet, a warrior's battle cry as she plunges into a rushing platoon of soldiers. When the dust settles, several of them are down, but so is Starfire. Lucas appears on the battlefield and at the very sight of him Aqualad leaves his minions and charges to Lucas. He stands his ground and waits for Aqualad to reach him before he unleashing a devastating attack of his own that leaves Aqualad unconscious. Soon Nightwing and Cyborg are the last two Titans left standing, and they are battling side by side the growing waves of soldiers that keep coming at them with numbers with no end. That's when Sgt Bedrock makes his presence felt by diving down on Cyborg separating him from Nightwing. The surprise attack takes Cyborg out of the battle, and soon Nightwing joins him unable to fend off the constant attacks from the army alone.
When Aqualad and his four Titan companions wake up from the darkness, they find themselves in chain with special features that block their unique powers. Standing over them is Colonel Lucas, with Sgt Bedrock standing next to him. These two conquers looked down on their helpless captives, and Lucas just laughs at them. Unknown to him, however; is that five Titans came to Atlantis with Aqualad, not four. As Wondergirl is beneath the palace getting ready to make her move.
