Hikaru pulled Haruhi into the house and offered her a seat.
"Are you sure Ranka isn't going to kill me for keeping you out so late?"
"I called him, he's working late anyway. He doesn't like me staying by myself when he takes extra shifts."
"Well, you don't have to be alone tonight." Hikaru pulled her close.
"Good, I don't think I could-" a loud clap of thunder caused Haruhi to tighten her grip on Hikaru.
"It's okay Haruhi, I'm here, I won't let anything hurt you." A flash of lightning made the young girl bury her face in Hikaru's shirt.
"I've got you, don't worry. Do you want to use my earphones?" Haruhi nodded.
"They're upstairs, Kaoru was using them yesterday, come on." He guided Haruhi up the steps and stopped at his brother's bedroom door.
"Hey Kaoru, are you in there?" He called as he knocked.
"Kao, I need to get my earphones, Haruhi needs them." There was a long pause before he heard Kaoru's voice.
"I'll get them, hold on." He called back.
Kaoru appeared at the door, opening it just enough to give Hikaru the required item.
"Are you okay?" Hikaru asked, Kaoru seemed to be acting strangely.
"Yeah, why?"
"What are you hiding in there?"
"Nothing."
"Don't lie to me Kaoru, I know you better than that, you don't want me to see something, what is it?"
"I'm not hiding anything!" Kaoru protested.
"Yeah right, if I have to open this door myself-"
"You can't." Kaoru leaned on it preventing his brother from opening it any further.
"Give me one good reason." Hikaru challenged. Haruhi's attention was now on the twins. He could hardly make out what was being said but watched with great interest, forgetting the storm.
"Don't push on the door Hika!" Kaoru cried. "You're going to break it!"
"Then move and I won't have to."
"Hikaru, seriously stop, one of us is going to get hurt."
"Kaoru, I just want to know what's going on."
"Nothing important. Come on Hika, don't do this, I've been sick."
"It's a little late to use that excuse isn't it?" There was a short silence.
"Okay Hikaru, step back and I'll let you in. But you have to promise not to make any comments."
"About what?"
"Anything." The older twin sighed.
"Fine." He stepped back and his little brother opened the bedroom door. The television was still on and from the corner of his eye, Hikaru say something move near the bed.
"What was that?"
"Hikaru, its not what it looks like and I'll explain everything." Kaoru promised.
"What're you talking about?" Kaoru turned on a lamp. Hikaru and Haruhi stared in shock as Akina walked over to stand next to the younger twin.
"Kaoru!"
"Don't, nothing happened." He said cutting Hikaru off.
"I believe you, but why would you hide her like that?"
"Because I didn't think you'd understand and I'd never hear the end of it. We fell asleep watching tv." Hikaru shook his head.
"Kaoru, I don't even-"
"No comments." Kaoru said sternly.
"I wasn't expecting to see Akina in there." Haruhi shouted, she hadn't realized how loud she was.
"I hope that's all it was."
"It was, I called him and asked to come over, he sent a car for we came up here."
"You two had the entire house but you came in here?" Kaoru nodded.
"What are you leaving out of the explanation?"
"Nothing." Kaoru replied.
"You're lying." Hikaru accused. "Tell the truth."
"Promise you won't get upset."
"I can't."
"Yeah, I know. Alright, she came over to make sure I was okay, my stomach was hurting a little but It's better now. I came up to rest for a little bit and her if she wanted to watch something."
"Kao, why didn't you say anything about your stomach when I was pushing on the door?" Hikaru felt a wave of guilt wash over him.
"I did. I said I've been sick."
"I'm sorry." Hikaru hugged his twin.
"It's Okay, I feel better." Hikaru smiled at Akina.
"Thanks for looking after him."
"It's no trouble, I'm just glad he's feeling okay."
"Me too, well I guess I'll leave you two alone then, I'm taking Haruhi back downstairs, if you feel like it, come join us." Kaoru and Akina thought about their options and arrived at the same conclusion. If they stayed in the bedroom, Hikaru would have a lot to say, they made their way to the living room and settled in for a evening of cuddling.
