Don't know why but it's kept me from updating summaries. I'm worried that it will have the same effect on chapters so if there is a day when I don't update for some reason, that could be it.

Leave Me to Fight

I stood to the side of the room as the team and I watched the ceremony. It was fun hearing everyone's, even Wally's, comments on what went up on screen. There was talk about some of the leaguers like Captain Marvel and his real age. Then there was some talk being flown around about Red Arrow and him being the first partner to become League. As I heard Kaldur say something to Raquel, and she return it with an interested glance, I chatted it up with Artemis. She was pretty sarcastic, I got to admit. And whatever she said about a person was entirely accurate. When she told me what she heard about my friendships with the boys she said, "You seem to be like the Alpha girl, like someone says something bad and counter act it to keep your image."

"That does sum me up pretty good. Yeah, especially with Robin and Wally, I need to put them in their place when they start making fun of me."

"You can never let a guy win."

"Never." I remember Robin once telling me Artemis and Wally had this sort of rivalry that he was for sure would blossom more, so I decided to ask Artemis, "What about you and Wally? You keep him in his place."

"I don't really want to hear from him anymore." She said looking towards the screen. I noticed it was more of a sad look then an angry look.

"What happened? Did he give you crap, because I can put his face in a blender for you."

Artemis chuckled. "Ha, no not really. It was my fault actually. I just screwed up a mission."

"And he's mad at you for that. Pfft. Let the big baby blow off some steam. I mean, I hid the secret about….you know the League's real HQ, right?"

"Yeah. Kaldur told me."

"Well, I sort of had to keep it a secret, and when they guys found out I knew they got mad. Especially Wally. But I just had to gain his trust again."

"What did you do?"

"I still fought side by side with them, and in the end Wally and I worked together to distract Blockbuster. Also, I was made it all up by healing the poor guy. He and Robin both came out with broken ribs."

"So, just gain his trust again. It sounds hard."

"I know it's easier to destroy then build, excuse my ominous tone." Artemis just laughed again.

"Guys." We all turned to look at the back of the room where Robin was looking at a holographic panel that emitted from his watch. "I just got an alert about a sighting of Cheshire."

"What?" Artemis asked surprised, standing up. I mean everyone around me, except for Raquel and I, were surprised about this news. But Artemis seemed more….tense.

"Let's Zeta back to the cave where we'll take M'gann's ship to the coordinates." Kaldur ordered. "From there, we'll go over the information." Everyone seemed to agree on it and they all piled up in a line to the teleporter. The girls went first, and then followed by Conner.

"Mary." Robin said, to me and motioning to the zeta beam. "Come on, you're up" I stepped back and put my hands behind me.

This was their mission. Not mine. I didn't even know the importance of this Cheshire. Whatever it was, it was a big deal…for them. "You guys go. I'm not one of you, remember."

"No matter what, you're one of us." Wally said.

"Wally, that's sweet but….I'm….I'm still here. Not there. I mean to say I'm still not ready. I'm staying behind."

"Mary…" Kaldur tried to say.

I got angry and I turned around, not wanting to face them anymore. "Just go, guys. The alert is probably more important than this. I just came to say hi. So…goodbye." I crossed my arms and dared not to look back as I heard nothing but silence. Then I heard the Zeta beam voice say, "Kid Flash B03. Robin B01." I waited for Kaldur's name to be called, but when I didn't hear it I looked back to see to him still standing there. His silver eyes met my brown ones, pleading for me to follow. I shook my head and said, "Go, I'll cover for you guys. It sounds like you'll need it."

Well, it really wasn't the best idea I had, especially since one of the people who came into the room was Batman. A while after the team had left the induction ceremony ended. I stayed in the library and waited until I heard a group of people walk in and I heard an unfamiliar voice, "Though I would have hoped she would have at least stuck around." I had been sitting on the couch when they walked in, so I turned around and said, "Hey guys-Uh oh." I said the last part after seeing Batman was with Black Canary and Red Tornado. Among them were the newly recruited Icon, Red Arrow, Plastic Man, and the Atom. Black Canary was the first to question me after seeing that the room was practically empty. "Mary, where are the others?"

"That's a good question." I said pretty quickly. I stood up from my seat and began to say, "Well you see, Wally sort of-"

But even as I was talking with such great confidence, Batman somehow knew I was lying. "Where is the team?" He said more enforced.

I began to stutter, "I-I-I do um….that-the a..." Then I gave in. I just couldn't take the Bat glare he was giving me. "They left to go find someone called Cheshire."

I noticed Roy's hands tighten and his eyes widened. He asked, "Where?"

"I don't know. All Robin said is that he got an alert about being in Cheshire's trail and that they needed to leave. They didn't say anything else." Batman gave me another glare. "No, really I swear that's all I heard."

"The one called Cheshire is a League problem." Red Tornado said, "The team must have accessed our data scheme files and facial recognition map."

"By team." Red said, "I'm guessing Robin."

I clapped my hands together. "Well, if that's all for me, then I'll be going." I began to walk around the group but Black Canary held out hand and grabbed my shoulders. "Not so fast."

I didn't want to be the center of attention, so I did a trick Hal taught me to get out of trouble. I made my ring light up and I pretended to be surprised. "Will you look at that, the Guardians have a mission for me. I got to go." I wiggled myself out of Canary's grip and I ran down the hall, going into GL mode. I came out in my uniform and zoomed out of the Hall before the paparazzi could try and stop me.

Hal and I met at the apartment so that he could finish helping me pack the last of the New Year dinner. Once we were done, he said, "Ok, I have to jet. The League will be expecting me at the induction party." Hal's ring began to shine and his suite appeared coving him in green. Before he could fly off, though, I said, "Hold it! Remember, you can't stay out too late. Tomorrow we have Uncle Jack's new year's party."

"I know."

"If anyone brings drinks, make sure not to get to crazy."

"I never."

"I'm serious. You can probably get like an FWI"

"FWI?"

"Flying While Intoxicated. I got it from a movie."

"Oh."

"Lastly, try to chat with Roy, he's not much of a social bug so get him to loosen up."

"Will do….mom."

"Hahha. Very funny." We hugged it out for a bit until finally Hal disappeared through the window and flew up into the night sky. I should have told him to worry more, especially after what happened the next day. I woke up around ten in the morning to find out Hal hadn't returned. "Oh great, I knew it! Someone spiked his drink and now he's probably hanging off the ceiling of the watch tower….or lying in a tub." I knew the phone wouldn't work because he was in space so I tried to contact him by my ring but he wouldn't answer. I resulted into calling some of the league members but their coms were down. "Really? Is everyone like dead or something?"

Lastly I thought about the boys. Maybe they know what's up. But even their phones and radios were disconnected. This is spooky. Maybe if I go to the cave…..I have never been to Mount Justice before, but I knew the zeta beam code for it. Maybe I could surprise them and ask them about the mission they went to yesterday. Hopefully I could make up for letting them down yesterday on their offer. And ask why no one, not even them, is answering my calls. I got into my Young Lantern suite and flew out the window of my room. I went to the nearest zeta beam which was hidden in the abandoned park. There was an old shack that had a sign that said 'Danger High Voltage' on the door. The shack was surrounded by a bunch of dead trees and hidden among shrubbery. The best place to hide a Zeta beam. I went inside and the small, ten by ten foot room. I went to one wall and slid open a secret cabinet. There was a panel where I punched in the code, and then I heard the familiar sound of a machine wiring up. The computer voice said, "Young Lantern, B05." In a flash of light I was transported from the shack, to the inside of Mount Justice. "Wow…." I gasped.

I was literally inside a mountain. Rock wall surrounded a circular room in front of me. Most of the floor looked like an intractable platform. There was something off though. I walked away from the entrance to the teleporter and I walk up to the middle of the room to see pieces of metal everywhere. What the hell happened here? "Guys!" I called out, "It's me! Um…..what's going on?" I began to walk down the hall closets to my right. I went in to another room where there was a kitchen and a living room with a big TV. Then I went down another hall until I got to a series of dorms. "Guys? Robin? Aqualad?"

I continued going straight until I got into an even larger room then the first one. It practically took up the rest of the inside of the cave, carved from top to bottom. I walked on to a bigger platform that acted as some sort of landing area for a plane. I could tell because to the other side of the cave and across a stretch of water was a sort of opening to go outside. "HELLO!"

I heard walking and I smiled. "Finally." I went to the edge of the platform and looked down to see there was some stairs that went down another level and then a path to another set of stairs. It went through somewhere I didn't know, but who I saw didn't make me question that. "Hey, Captain Marvel!" I said hi to him and the other two that were with him, Dr. Fate, in his golden glory, and Icon, who I saw earlier yesterday but never said Hi. "Do you guys know where the team is?" They didn't answer. They just gave me blank stares. Yo, something whack is going on. "Ok. How about-" I was going to ask how Hal was, but suddenly Fate held up his arms and shot a golden form of energy towards me. In a flash, I went up towards the ceiling. "Hey! What was that about?" They didn't say anything and this time Captain Marvel came after me at full speed, I avoided the contact by flying up even higher towards the ceiling. But there was only so much room.

"Damn it." I cursed as put a hand to the ceiling. I looked down to see Captain Marvel still coming after me. I went down and moved to the side to avoid him but he grabbed me by the leg and swung me around. He let go to through me against the wall of the big room. I made a crater shape on impact but climbed out of it once I gained my good vision. Icon come up on my left and tried to hit him with a few shots of my ring. The minute I remembered he was immune to getting shot was when he continued to fly to me and then punch me in the face. I was dazed a bit and I twirled in the air. The distraction cost my freedom when I felt magical shackles appear on my arm. The Egyptian symbol of life was engraved on it. "Beaten the crap out by Icon and Marvel and taken hostage by Fate. That's just weird to say." All three of them hovered next to me, and then Fate grabbed me fiercely by the arm. "Ow! Why are you doing this? Are you trying to get back at me for something? Gain more info on the team's mission, because I swear I don't know anything else."

Then Captain Marvel pulled out something from his pocket and started to come to me. Fate and Icon held me in midair as Marvel held out a piece of what looked like a silver triangle with red glowing symbols on it. "What's that? What are you doing? Hey stop!" I began to panic, getting the feeling the people who I was talking to were not actually who they were. My ring must have also felt the same way because suddenly it began to glow so bright, the light blinded the Leaguers holding me. The shackles disappeared and I took this chance to zoom out of the big cave. I went out the opening I saw earlier and found myself flying over the cove. I looked behind me to see Fate, Icon, and Marvel flying after me. I didn't stop flying, even after I began to fight them.

Dr. Fate shot a hex towards me and I blocked it with a construct wall. I continued to fly and I made a disk, throwing it towards his head. He destroyed it with a beam of energy and then shot another hex to me. Icon joined him by shooting a blue fiery ball of light from his head. I flew to the side and avoided it, looking ahead for a way out. I only saw ocean and sky. I had no escape route. Killowag would kill me for this….. A blue shot from Icon told me they were hot on my tail…..If I'm not killed here first. I went up towards the sky and decided to lose them in the clouds. It was really cold, due to the fact it was December and in the North East it snowed a pretty good amount of snow. That's why I live in California. The clouds were heavy though, and they made excellent cover. I went through one cloud, shivering as I felt like ice was poking my skin. I looked back and saw Fate hold up his hands. He said, "Dinw, yebo em."

Suddenly the wind began to blow harder and a tornado like wind blew me so I tumbled in the air and lost my bearings. I was so distracted that I didn't see a fist come to me until it hit me in the gut. No, not there. Last summer I had gotten really hurt in that area, and thankfully my Blue Lantern friend Cody was able to heal me. But I still had to be careful. I held my stomach but took a breath and sucked in the pain. Go. I moved to the side as Captain Marvel attempted to hit me again. When he flew past me, I realized the pattern of how they were trying to get me. Icon was only using his mind blast and Marvel was just hitting. There was a bit of cantation from Fate but other than that he was just shooting hexes. They are not in full power. I could use that.

I went towards Fate and blew a raspberry at him and waved my arms in the air. He commanded the wind to come after me and I flew away as it tied to blow me off. I then made a sharp U turn and went past Fate. The wind had still been following me so when I flew past him, Fate was blown off course by his own wind. Then I went after Icon. He wasn't that much trouble. All I had to do was make an alley-oop around him and once he turned around to find me, I had made a special construct for him. A green shield appeared around my arm and like a disk I threw it at his head. He didn't get knocked out, but the force of the blow on his forehead ruptured his aim. When he tried to blast me, blue sparks came out of his head instead. As he was confused, I went after the last Leaguer. I had Captain Marvel follow me higher into the sky, and then I let myself go down towards the ocean like a dart. Once I was sure Captain was right behind me and that I was fifty yards within plummet distance, I stopped. Captain did not see that coming and he flew right past me. He tried to stop but he was so fast that he wasn't able to stop himself from going face first into the ocean.

I felt bad for laughing but he had it coming. I took this chance to fly away as fast as I could through the heavy clouds. I used them for my quick escape as I headed for the next safest place I could think of. The Hall of Justice.

A.N: Mary in denial still and the whole League is missing. So what happened when Marvel, Fate, and Icon came to the cave, well, they probably found nothing so I added Mary into this part. Haha, I got FWI from Ella Enchanted, thought I would use it since it's pretty relatable. I'm KikaKatTIOI, peace out!
