Mai sat up in her bed as the doctor's pushed it back into the white room she was in before. SPR stood to their feet as she was wheeled back in. They waited until she was pushed back into place before crowding around her.

Mai received hugs from each of them, but her attention focused on the girl with black eyes staring at her. She pushed the covers off of herself as she stood to her feet.

"You're going to be fine now, Mai," the girl smiled. Mai couldn't help but feel a smile overcome her own features as she held her hand out. The girl took it and stood to her feet.

"Thank you, for everything," Mai smiled as she held the girl's hand close to her face. The girl's free hand caressed Mai's cheek as she smile. SPR watched the exchange silently.

"How could I let my little hostess die?" she asked, Mai felt a tear streak down her face, and the girl wiped it with her hand. "Do not cry for me, Mai, for I am already dead," she stated. Mai sniffed and nodded her head lightly.

"I know, and I'm sorry you had to give up a second chance at life to save me," she replied, the girl smiled, a small laugh escaping her lips.

"Mai, I am a demon, I will always be a demon, therefore I will always be dead. Yes I would have physical form, but I would not be able to feel any emotion and I would only hurt people, killing them slowly. I would rather have you alive, than have people suffer," she explained.

"For a demon, you seem to feel a lot," Monk looked at her with a questioning expression. The girl looked at him.

"I remember what it's like, to be a human. I know the pain of heart break, the joy of love, the hate of a grudge and the sadness of losing your family. If I were to stay, I would only see Mai perish before my eyes as she grew and I remained. Therefore, I do not wish to stay in this world to watch that. But I wish you all the best of luck," the girl turned to Mai. "Have fun, live every day like it's your last, love like there's no tomorrow, but most importantly, keep at what you are doing. For you save people, and they will be eternally grateful for that," she added. Mai nodded her head as she kissed the back of the girl's hand.

"You will always be with me," she whispered.

"And so will you with I, but for now, I have to go," the girl looked at Mai and took a step close. She smiled as she rested her whitening lips upon Mai's cherry red ones.

SPR looked on in shock as they watched the two girl's kiss. Mai still holding the girls hand, and, as the kiss slowly came to an end, the girl slowly began to fade away.

Mai opened her closed eyes and was met with an empty space in front of her. SPR watched her as she sat back on her bed; a sigh escaped her lips as she smiled a small smile.

"I will miss you, my friend," she whispered.

A month passed by without any new cases popping up. Soon SPR returned to normal, John's foot had healed and he was finally able to walk on his own two feet. Needless to say he hadn't sat down since he got the cast off.

Ayako and Monk would visit the SPR team every day for a couple of hours before returning to previous volunteer jobs to pass the time. Ayako at her parent's hospital, and Monk at a local music shop.

Masako's career had been faltering in the past month; no one had experienced many paranormal activities, so she had more free time on her hands. She spent that free time helping out John at the local church he worked at.

The first week back into base Mai had signed SPR back over to Naru, who decided to keep her with him as a business partner, the two now ran SPR together, with the help of their friends.

Of course, Mai took up her role of preparing the tea for everyone like she normally did. Monk and Ayako would always call before coming into the office, so Mai knew when and when not to make them tea.

Masako and John were always unexpected guests, but they had a habit of always appearing whenever Mai was always making tea. She swore they could sense it.

Lin, well, Lin was Lin, he sat quietly, happy everyone was returning to normal, even if he didn't show his emotions. He was glad to be back at his desk typing away on his computer about the previous case.

Mai had explained to him and Naru what had happened before they had come back to Japan, needless to say shocked was not the expression they had on their faces. All of SPR, minus Lin and Naru, were laughing at their expressions for days afterwards, even though Naru told them to shut up, they wouldn't.

Speaking of Naru, he still seemed to be the same as he was when he came back, only he was kinder to Mai. Mai thought it was just pity that he felt towards her, but the brunette was so very wrong.

Both had come to terms with their feelings for each other, everyone saw it but themselves. Sometimes Monk wanted to bash their heads together, other times Ayako wanted to scream at them both, John let them both deal with it in their own way, but Masako wanted to lock them in a closet until they admitted it, and, even though he wouldn't admit it, Lin supported Masako's idea a hundred percent.

Mai hummed as she made some tea for Naru and herself, the two of them were the only ones in the office today. Mai was filling out some paperwork from a university she was going to apply to, while Naru was reading one of his usual books.

A buzzing caught Mai's ears. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and answered her phone.

"Hello?" she asked.

There was nothing, only static. Mai shrugged and hung her phone up, slipping it back into her pocket. She grabbed the two tea cups and turned around.

Mai froze, the room suddenly felt cold, she could see her own breath, but Mai shrugged it off. She walked until something cold touched her shoulder, that was when she dropped the tea cups and spun around.

Naru heard the smashing should from the main room; he stood up, dropped his book and ran to Mai, who was kneeling on the floor.

"Mai, is everything ok?" he asked, the room temperature seemed to return to normal before Naru had even entered the room.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I just lost my grip on the cups," Mai answered as Naru walked over and helped her clear it up.

"Be more careful next time, these things cost money," he stated as he glared at Mai, who didn't meet his gaze, instead, she spoke.

"Someone's knocking on the door," she stated. A faint knock then hit Naru's ears. He threw the broken pieces of pot away and walked to the door. Mai followed him suit, ignoring a small graze on her hand.

"I'm sorry for intruding on you, but I was wondering if you could help me," a woman spoke as she pushed passed Naru into the SPR building. "Forgive my rudeness, but I'm desperate," she stated as tears slowly filled her eyes.

"Would you like some tea?" Mai asked as she stood in the door way of the kitchen. Something about the way Mai was stood seemed to make the woman freeze up.

"Y-yes please," she muttered. Naru showed the woman to the couch and told her to sit. Mai returned with freshly brewed tea for the both of them before taking a seat next to Naru.

"How may we help you Miss…." Naru appeared to trail off.

"Miss Kuro," the woman replied. Mai looked at her; she had long blonde hair with bright blue eyes. Her coat was a long black trench coat, she wore it open. Under that was a knee length denim skirt and a white button up blouse.

"Miss Kuro?" Naru asked, the woman inhaled and then exhaled as she looked the younger boy in the eyes.

"Well, you see, I live in Okinawa with my husband and three children, one nineteen, one fourteen and one nine. Over the past few weeks we've been experiencing things you wouldn't normally experience. Our doors will open when we close them, a tapping noise will be heard. My nine year old swear he's seen some white figures in the house and they are beginning to frighten them," Miss Kuro began to explain.

"Has your husband experienced any of these, or your older boys?" Naru asked as he rested his chin on his hands.

"Well, my husband says it's none sense, and my fourteen year old has only seen some writing appear on the walls, but he thinks that it's his little brother, but he knows better than to do that. My eldest, well, my eldest has seen this girl, apparently he says that her age changes whenever he sees her. The first time he saw her she was all but twelve, then she was sixteen and then she was four."

"Interesting," Naru whispered as he motioned for her to continue.

"But it was all so strange. Whenever my won would tell me he'd seen her a soft sing song voice would appear in my mind, at first it was just nursery rhymes, but then it started to become riddles and now it's nursery rhymes again," Kuro explained.

"When was the last time your son saw this girl?" Naru asked.

"Last night, but she was around forty, my eldest and youngest son are worried, I just want to know if there's something that's trying to hurt my family," a tear slipped out of Kuro's eyes.

"Is there anything else at all?" Naru asked, Kuro thought and then nodded her head.

"There was one time, my middle son came down stairs, he wasn't himself, if was like something possessed him. He was acting so strange, he wasn't listening to me and he even tried to attack his father," Kuro finished sipping her tea and Naru nodded his head.

"We'll take the case," he stated, Kuro looked at him gratefully.

"Really, thank you so much," she stood, bowed and quickly scribbled her address and everything on a piece of paper, and handed it to Naru. "My husband and I will pay for your trip and everything, just tell us when you would like to set off," Kuro stated.

Mai took the empty tea cup from in front of Kuro and walked away, leaving the two to exchange detail information.

As Mai set the cups in the sink, her bangs fell into her eyes and a smirk overcame her face. Once Mai looked up, her natural brown eyes were gone, replaced by a glowing, blood red colour and her fang appeared to have grown sharper.

"This is going to be very interesting indeed," she mused to herself. A light chuckle escaping her mouth as she closed her eyes once more.
