Chapter 13 – New Start
Loren was eating a bowl of fruit loops when there was a knock at the door. She walked over opening and saw Jeffery standing there with an envelope.
He smiled, "Hello Ms. Tate, this letter is addressed to you, and also the car is downstairs for you and Mr. Duran."
Loren smiled, "Thank you Jeffery."
Jeffery nodded and walked away. Loren flipped over the envelope and saw a familiar logo. She slowly ripped open the envelope, reading the first line.
Dear Ms. Loren Tate,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the School of Nursing at New York University…
Loren was interrupted by Eddie yelling from upstairs. "Who was at the door?"
Loren shoved the envelope into her purse. She looked up as Eddie started coming downstairs. "Oh it was just Jeffery coming to say the car was downstairs…"
"Why would he come all the way up here to tell us the car was downstairs he could have just called."
Loren pulled her purse over her shoulder, "Who knows but we got to get going or you are going to be late."
Eddie came down the stairs rubbing the back of his head. "That is really strange…"
But Loren was already out the door.
As they got downstairs Eddie walked over to Jeffery quickly, "What did you talk to Loren about earlier?"
"Oh I had a letter for Ms. Tate."
"A letter..? Okay thank you."
Eddie rushed to catch up to Loren.

Eddie and Loren walked into MK. She noticed he wasn't holding her hand and he walked over to Jake as soon as they walked in.
Loren sighed and sat down at the bar. Katy sat down next to her. "What's up sweetheart? You should be happy right now."
Loren leaned over resting her elbows on her knees and putting her face in her hands. Katy began to rub her back. "Come on you can tell me."
Loren mumbled her response into her hands so Katy had to lean forward to hear. "I got accepted into the nursing program at NYU."
Katy smiled, "Are you kidding me that is great!"
Loren stood up, "I just need to get some air."
Eddie looked up from where he was talking with Jake and saw Loren walking out of the club. He told Jake he would be right back and rushed after her. He grabbed her arm in the hallway.
"Where are you going?"
"I just need some air…"
Eddie let go of her arm and leaned his back against the wall frustrated. "What was in that letter Lo?"
Loren sighed and pulled the letter out of her bag and handed it to Eddie.
He began to read and then cleared his throat, "NYU huh?"
Loren groaned leaning against the wall as well, "Yes and before you think anything I sent it way before I met you because I knew there was a wait list. It was a way to get out of L.A. after my mom died…"
Loren began to tear up. Eddie groaned and pulled her into his arms. She gripped his back tightly. "You know you make it really hard to be mad at you…"
Loren spoke in between sharp breaths. "Eddie… I'm not… I'm not going to go…"
Eddie pulled her back, "Loren it's NYU you need to take it."
Loren looked up at him, "Eddie you are the most important thing in my life there are plenty of schools here.
"Yeah but not NYU."
Loren grabbed the sides of Eddie's face, "I know what you are thinking. But you are not holding me back from anything. Without you I don't know if I would even be here today."
Eddie just gripped her tightly not able to hold her close enough. He heard Jake calling for him. He sighed and wrapped his arm around Loren's shoulders and she wrapped both her arms around his waist. He kissed her forehead before he walked over to Jake.

"Has Loren gone to lunch?"
Max and Katy looked confused but nodded.
Eddie smiled, "Good because I have to talk to you guys about something."
…
"Hey guys thank you for coming out tonight! I know it has been awhile since I released new music. So I'm going to sing a few songs for you but first I want to make an announcement. You all know my beautiful girlfriend Loren Tate; well she got accepted into the amazing nursing program at NYU so I as well as my manager and my parents will be relocating to New York with her."
Everyone started cheering and Loren looked as if she might fall over. Katy and Max both hugged her as Eddie started singing.
Once Eddie was finishing his last song Loren walked backstage to meet him after he came off.
She punched him in the arm as he approached.
"Ouch! What was that for?"
"You know what that was for! Why didn't you just tell me before?"
"Hey since when do I ever do things in a normal way? Normal is boring and it's not why you love me."
Loren smiled, "You did amazing by the way."
"Oh really?"
She nodded and laughed as Eddie pulled her against him and kissed her lips softly. He rested his forehead against hers. "Do you love me?"
Loren sighed, "Of course I do… I just don't want you to uproot your whole life for me. You love L.A."
"That may be true. But I love you more and you are my life now. I go where you go."
Loren smiled, "Well I do love you, but you need to get back out there now. Your fans need you."
Eddie grabbed her hand and pulled her out with him. He whispered in her ear as they walked, "This is a whole new life for us. We can finally move on from the past. I love you."
Loren leaned up and gave him a kiss.
