Chapter Thirteen

"Major Lorne! What do you think you're doing?!" Rae yelled as she walked into the armory.

Lorne sighed as he looked up and saw her. "Rae, I really don't want-"

"I don't care what you want! You're not going on this rescue mission!"

Now Lorne started getting mad, "Oh?! And I suppose you're going to stop me!?"

Rae smiled, "Oh no, I'm not going to stop you, Woolsey is."

Lorne laughed. "An how is he going to stop me?"

Woolsey stepped forward, "I will have you forcibly removed if I have to. I would prefer not to do that though."

Lorne looked angrily at Rae, "Why are you trying to stop me?! I'm trying to save him-them!"

Rae's eyes widened when she realized what he was trying to do.

"Can we have a minute alone?" she asked the group around them.

Woolsey coughed and motioned for everyone to follow him. Once they had left, Rae looked at Lorne.

"You know you're not in any shape to mount a rescue." She placed a hand on his shoulder, "Why are you doing this?"

He shrugged her off, "I'm trying to save my CO," He cornered her against the lockers. "and you're not going to stop me."

Lorne turned around and grabbed his gear, getting ready to leave.

"Please," Rae pleaded. "let someone else go."

Lorne turned to her, "Why?" he asked her, "Why don't you want me to go?"

Rae sighed, she knew what he was trying to get her to say. "Because I don't want to lose you." she said quietly.

Lorne moved in closer. "You'd rather I stay here than try to rescue him?"

"I don't want to lose him either." she said sharply. "You'd just be endangering him along with the rest of your team. Are you really willing to do that?"

Lorne looked angry again. "It's not up to you to decide whether I endanger my team or not!"

"But it is mine."

A new voice spoke, causing both Rae and Lorne to turn towards it. Keller stood in the doorway, looking at Lorne sympathetically.

"I'm sorry Major," Keller said, addressing Lorne. "but I can't allow you to go on this mission."

"That's settles it then." Woolsey's voice said, coming from behind Keller. "Now Major, do I have to have you removed forcibly or will you come quietly?"

Lorne threw his gear on the ground and stormed out of the room.

Rae breathed a sigh of relief as she turned to Keller and Woolsey.

"Thanks Jen." Rae said, giving Keller a smile.

Keller looked at her grimly. "I wouldn't thank me."

"Why not?" Rae asked, confused.

"The IOA believes that since there is no known cure to Major Lorne's disease, that he should be taken off duty permanently and..." Keller paused. "...sent home from Atlantis."

Rae stared at her, "They want to send him HOME?"

Woolsey sighed, "Unfortunately, yes."

"Can't you do anything to keep him here." Rae begged him.

He shook his head, "I'm afraid I can't."

He sent Rae a sad look.

"Major Lorne is going home."
