Chapter 11

Normal POV

Standing on the balcony, spreading her arms to her side, inhaling the fresh, ocean air, Mikan had never felt so contented in her life. She opens her eyes and beam at the amazing scenery laid out in front of her. Clear blue water, white sand, coconut trees and perfect weather. It's nothing but a paradise.

Mikan takes one last look and open the sliding doors and went inside her room. As much as how she loved the scenery, she can't help but also admire the grand room. No, not room. More like a suite. A special suite.

They were currently staying at Misaki's fiancé, Tsubasa Andou's beach resort. The Andou Resorts hasn't been on top of the construction marketing but Mikan believe soon they would be.

Mikan grabs the pill Hotaru gave her and swallow it down. The pain and queasiness hasn't appeared for a few hours now, which means the medicine does actually work. Duh, she laughs to herself. What else do you expect from the genius protégé?

She grabs her small notebook from her purse and checks everything that needed to be done. And so far, it was all good. The villa was big enough to actually be called a mansion and live there your whole life. 600 different yet astonishing masks got delivered. The drinks, foods and other important stuff were all set too. All that's left is for the guests to show up and for Mikan to host it.

A knock from her door interrupts her thoughts. She stands up and head towards the door and opens it.

"Oh hi Hotaru!" Mikan says as she gave her a bright look. "Come in."

Hotaru did so and look around her room. The walls were painted palest pink of all with intricate designs. A high glass ceiling that could be covered. A king-size bed, huge vanity set and by the looks of it, a huge closet too. Hotaru noted that they had the same size but had different lay-out and wall color. She looks back at Mikan, who's sitting down at the edge of her bed, jotting down something on her notebook. "Your cousin's fiancé better have that unlimited crab brains." Hotaru casually says while bobbing an eyebrow.

Mikan looks up from her notebook and gives her a grin. "Tsubasa told me he'd serve it to you early in the morning tomorrow."

Hotaru faintly smiles as it vanishes in a second. She didn't really intend to visit Mikan's room just to look at her interior or make sure about her favorite food there was something else. Mikan returns to writing on her notebook. when she could feel Hotaru's eyes on her. She decided to ignore it but Hotaru didn't waver her attention. Mikan sighs but keeps her eyes on the notebook.

"Do you have something to say?" Mikan inquires despite knowing what her best friend have to say. She stops writing and click the pen. "Just say it Hotaru."

"Alright." Hotaru's voice was cool, polite, and professional— as always. "You deciding to test the students were probably a spur of the moment Mikan. A lot of people may appear cold and heartless especially to the unfortunate ones, but they're human and they must feel something. Be it whether it is pity or shame." Hotaru ends, leaning on the wall beside the door.

Mikan click the pen once again and click it back. She raise her head and traps Hotaru's eyes to hers. Hotaru holds the look with uneasiness but dismisses it. She notices Mikan's eyes darkening then in a split second it was gone. Mikan averts her gaze and frowns. Hotaru couldn't help but frown too. What was that about...?

Mikan looks up once again and shows her usual cheery smile, making Hotaru doubt about what she just saw. "Of course." Mikan begins, "You're right. I should have fully thought about it."

Mikan rises to her feet and looks at the mirror then face Hotaru. "It's almost 12 isn't it? Let's go get the others and have lunch. I heard they have really great crab meats here Hota-chan." Mikan winks then giggles and opens her door and practically skips to the other girl's room, leaving Hotaru behind. She would never be caught dead doing that.

Natsume glance at the mini-screen in front of him and sees that they only have 20 minutes left till they land at Okinawa.

"You guys, are we staying at Koko's beach house or at the Andou's resort?" Yuu questions. Koko and Ruka who were playing cards looks up. Mochu was still dozing off beside Yuu.

"We could always stay there, but aren't we supposed to stay at the designated resort the Yukihira's reserved?" Koko asks, while trying to sort his cards. Ruka nods at his question.

Yuu typing on his laptop, he'd never be seen without it except on dates or the ball, replies. "I don't think a lot of people would actually stay at the Andou Resorts, but under the Yukihira influence, they would do it in a heartbeat."

They chuckle and return to what they were originally doing. Natsume sitting beside the window gazes at the vast sky. He was thinking about the news his father told him a day ago. The sudden droppings of investment on certain companies from the Yukihira were beyond weird. As far as he knows, they would never do something out of the ordinary like that. What's the sudden change?

"You know what's weirder," Koko adds as if he just read what Natsume just thought. Making the said person turns to Koko and raise an eyebrow. ""The fact that the heiress of the Yukihira suddenly invited our entire grade to a ball, when she doesn't even go to our school." He ended.

Ruka place a card on the table and shrugs. "Alice Academy is the only prominent school in Japan, what's there to doubt about?" He stated.

No one said anything but Mochu's snoring did all the talking. Everyone laugh while Natsume just smirk and covers his face with his comic for the rest of the ride.
