It was beautiful outside.
The grass had turned a bright green color, giving the trees a more darker coating to fit into the background more. Flowers bloomed in the sun, all kinds of wonderful colors that helped paint the land.
"Wow," I said, admiring the colors.
The wolf barked once, before suddenly running off, disappearing into the bushes.
"Wait up!" I cried, practically diving in after the animal. On the other side, might had well have been transported to another dimension. There was a huge clearing, but the trees surrounding it were growing close together, so it was easily missed. The branches grew trusted overhead, making some sort of dome shape that blocked out the sunlight. There was a flat stone in the middle, four puppies resting on the rock, crying for their mothers.
"Am I in Narnia?" I looking around. How had no one noticed this place? It was Huge! A flash of red caught my eye. There were berries hanging from some of the branches.
Crybit. The one berry that could cure Jerome.
"Holy Notch, are those real?" I asked the air, running up to one of the trees. I could reach them easily, the branches were surprisingly low. Yep, they were real all right. I picked four more, making sure I had plenty so we wouldn't run out.
I was about to leave, when I heard the wolf bark again.
I turned around, but the wolf was still gone, only the puppies there. I walked towards the rock. And the puppies looked at me with huge, sweet eyes. The two pieces of pork resting in front of them. The small wolves had torn into pieces, also surrounded by other foods like apples core's and bread crumbs.
"Awwww," I said, picking one of them up. "Aren't you cute?"
The puppy made the closest it could to a bark, and the others started to yip in response. I set the first one down, laughing a bit.
"Where's your mother?" I asked. I circled the rock, and found what I was looking for.
She was dead. And judging by the way it was rotting, and how thin it was, it had starved to death. At least 5 days ago to.
The mother's spirit had protected her little ones. Doing all that she could to keep them from starving. The mother must have lead me here to take care of them.
"I'm glad I brought my bag," I mumbled, and carefully put each little one inside. As I was leaving, I heard one last bark, and looked back to see a faint outline of a dog, sitting on its hind legs in front of the stone. It barked once more, and I waved, giving a small grin.
Then it was gone. Vanishing into thin air.
As I was heading back, I made sure to carry them as gently as possible, navigating myself back the way I had come. It seemed like not much time had passed, maybe no more than an hour. The puppies continued to yip, quietly, and squirm in the bag. I gave them another pork, and they fell silent. On the way, I practiced using my powers, moving fallen trees with a wave if my hand, freezing water with just a touch of my foot, and I could make flowers bloom where my fingertips touched the ground.
I didn't mess with fire to much, since I was in a forest, and I tried my best not to look at my mutated hand. Last I looked, it was to my shoulder now, high enough that my sleeve covered the blackened skin. My fingers were claws now, and I would have to do my best to hind them from everyone else. Whatever the Enderman had infected me with, it did have slightly noticeable symptoms.
I could move a tree with my new hand with ease. And my arm had grow longer by an inch or two, making me feel lopsided. My claws could scratch the surface of bark, leaving deep gashes with barely any effort. It would be harder to keep this a secret form everyone else, but I would have to do my best.
When I got back to the cave, Sam and Julia were still asleep, hadn't even moved an inch from their beds. I put two dogs down, scribbled something on a note, grabbed some food, and started on my journey back to my house.
'Sorry to trouble you so much,' I had written. 'But I had to go take care of a few things, and as an apology gift, here are two puppies. I found them in the woods, and I hope they make good companions.'
'From: Akuma.'
