It was the next day and Declan was a bit nervous, he was going on his second date with Piper and he was hoping that this time there be no issues. He wanted to wear something casual for the park but still look good. He went with a black polo shirt, dark grey jeans, and black sneakers. He looked at himself and smiled, satisfied with his look.

Piper was also getting ready. She decided to wear something comfortable for the park and only a bit of makeup, just some lipstick and a bit of blue eyeshadow. She wore a blue spaghetti stripped shirt, white short jeans, and white sneakers. She added a small blue stone necklace and earrings to complete the look. She looked at herself and was satisfied and so left.

Three o'clock and Declan was at the park entrance waiting, it didn't take long for her family car to come up and suddenly she came out. Declan felt his heart go to his throat when he saw her but then a young man with brown hair came out and she said "This is one of my brothers. My parents still want someone with me on the dates."

Declan just smiled as he said "Okay. Nice to meet you." he shook hands with the brother as they introduced each other. Then Declan said to Piper "Well I know a good spot, ready?" "Yeah let's go."

And so they walked off, Declan led them next to the park play ground where a tree stood next to it in a small field and Declan began to set up the picnic. As he did Piper's brother looked to see some boys his age playing basketball and said "I'll be over there okay."

Piper nodded and said "Go ahead I'll be fine." The boy nodded and ran off to play. Piper smiled glad she have time alone to spend with Declan as she sat on the cloth next to him and he began to bring out the food and she said "Oh yum it looks so good. I didn't know you be bringing other things."

Declan blushed as he said "I hope you like them." Declan had made some sandwiches that looked interesting, Piper prayed and then sniffed them and took a bite saying "Mmm these are good what's in them." "Family recipe can't say my ma would have my head."

Piper chuckled at that as she said "I can imagine you wouldn't want anyone getting a hold on these." "Yeah that's how she won allot of cook offs in our home town." "So you lived outside of Bricksburg." "Oh yeah you see…." Declan told her what basically most people knew and some of the things that were shown in the family video last night.

Piper had a good laughed and shared some of her own family stories with him as well. When Declan told her they were actually at the park he and his brother made a promise at she said "It's sweet how close you and your brother are to each other but I guess most twins are with how connected they must be to each other. Being that you do share the same DNA and everything."

Declan chuckled as he said "Yeah it's weird we looked exactly the same but act completely different." Suddenly he said "Um Piper sorry to bring this up but um yesterday….." he told her everything that he learned about the duplos and said "I don't want to scare you but you seem to have so much knowledge in biology and animal behavior, it seems to work with the duplos and I needed advice."

Piper smiled as she said "It's no problem you said you wanted my help and I want to. I always kind of wanted to be a sort of crime fighter in a way. So let me think, they are looking for a queen but they need a human one. You said they have a leader that could possibly be human. I think you might be right as the duplos as you say act like machines as well. They may be experimental creatures instead of aliens for all we know. Anyway if they need a queen it may be because they might work like a beehive or an ant society. Without the one they take orders from they die and I don't mean in reproduction I mean in that they no longer have a use and have no way to communicate. Most creatures like those need a structure to have a purpose to survive it seems."

Declan was surprised as he said "Really but why?" She shrugged as she said "I'm not sure, this is really a theory. When I was younger in a life science class some kids made and ant farm and the ants only lived a few day, even though they had food and all they didn't have queen. That's when I came to the conclusion that without the order statues and structure of a queen the use of their lives was not important it seemed. Though as I said that's just a theory as most instincts don't have large lifespans. But the duplos are not of insect like creatures so it not a way to keep their numbers up but maybe to keep them alive, for without a leadership they would perish."

Declan then said with shock "You mean they could be looking for queen for their leader who needs an heir of course. That would make sense. But why would the dulpos give me such information." Piper replied with "It could be a trap." "That's what my brother and I thought." "Maybe it wants you to know for some reason. Some plot it has or maybe its leader wanted it to send that message. I'm not sure."

Declan sighed as he said "It's really mind boggling but we'll figure it out in time. Thanks for your help it will come in handy. You're real smart when it comes to this stuff." She smiled a bit shy as she said "Your welcome and thanks I'm just creative while using the knowledge I know."

Declan sat closer as he nervously put his hand over hers maker her jumps slightly but she didn't pull away as he said "I-I-I, th-ink th-ere needs to be more people like you. Though I guess you're one of a kind and that's wh-y I li—ke yoo-oou so-oo much."

Piper blushed at this as she kissed his cheek making him blush as she said "I like you allot too. Your sweet brave and care so much for others. You don't seem to be afraid of me and you trust me and my ideas. I never met anyone like that who makes me feel so confident in myself."

Declan still had a blush on his face as he said "You deserve it." As he squeezed her hand and they looked into each other's eyes. They leaned into each other but instead of kissing they just snuggled into each other feeling comfortable as they just sat there and enjoyed each other company as they looked around the park.

After a small while they suddenly heard "Well shiver me timbers would that be ye Good cop?" They looked up to find Metal beard standing in front of them. Declan was surprised as he said "Metal beard I didn't expect you to be in a place like this. You usually go for a place with lots of water."

Metal beard laughed as his black and metallic beard went up and down. his mechanical arm and leg giving a whine as he said "That be true me bucko but even I need a change of scenery no. And what I see is you found yourself a pretty lass. So when's the wedding."

The two blushed at that and yelped as Declan said "What no we just started dating and and….." "Oh my mistake Good cop. Still in the courting stages I see. Pleasure to meet you mam good to see this one is finding some other propose in his life besides work." Piper replied with "Um nice to meet you too. Are you two friends?"

Metal beard replied with "We used to be enemies but became allies in battle not long ago when we helped rescue him from that Business fellow." Piper then said "Oh yeah I've heard the story." Metal beard nodded as he said "That reminds me where's you're angrier half, usually you two are stuck like glue to each other."

Declan rubbed the back of his head as he said "Um we're learning to be independent from each other." Metal beard laughed as he said "About time. Back in the day if it weren't for your glasses I would have mistaken you two for the same person." Piper got upset with this and said "Well their not and Declan didn't even know about what was really happening and tried to stick up for what was right when he found out."

Metal beard and Declan looked shocked but the pirate laughed as he said "This lass has spunk and ye right miss. I didn't take that into account. Pardon if I sounded rude. Well I'll let you two get back to ye date then." And so the old pirate went off. Declan looked to Piper and said "You didn't have to do that I was just as much at fault for what happened and…."

"Please don't, you made up for it and you weren't, and I know you are a different man now as is your brother." Declan felt a tear in his eyes as he looked down at her and said "Thanks." She replied with "Your welcome now let's not think of bad times. Let's go for a walk." Declan nodded as they two got up, she told her brother and he nodded and started fallowing behind some yards to give them space.
