StarsNeverFade: This is so cool! I loved the dad twist with all the Rich guys. Yeah, thy are a little OOC, but it makes it more interesting. ;) Thanks! I intended for the story to be OOC, but didn't say from the beginning and people got confused. Oh well.
Guest13: Hey this is really good! I just wanted to point out that you said "Sean" instead of "Ryan" during this chapter. Update soon! Fixed it!
Onepieceofcake: I love this; you write Percy really well! I'm excited to see where this going. Keep writing:) Thank you so much! I will!
Writer432 This is pretty good. Asshat, I'm gonna have to use that one. People tend to look at you weirdly, I've found.
Annabeth felt like she was slowly turning into both of the guys' mom, which is obviously what you want to feel like when you're dating both of them. Two weeks had passed since the… incident, and all was well. No drama. No misunderstandings. Annabeth felt like things had slowly taken a turn for the better.
The thing is, the peace felt forced. She felt like things were quiet because the guys didn't want to cause any more trouble.
Ryan walked in on Percy and Annabeth having sex at precisely 1:32 (Annabeth glanced at the clock when he walked in) Percy leapt out of the bed to the other side of the room, almost completely naked. Ryan stood there, shell-shocked, for a few seconds, then began to slowly back away. Annabeth couldn't help but notice the hurt in his eyes. They couldn't continue after that.
She was nowhere close to picking which guy, either. The host called the house a few days later and demanded a change of scene, saying that the show would be too boring otherwise.
They were flying to New York, obviously. The glitz would do well on camera.
Only upon landing did Annabeth realize what celebrities she, Ryan and Percy had become. The pilot had just aired and it seemed to be doing quite well. Extremely well. Like, insanely well. Annabeth had almost forgotten she was on the Bachelorette for a moment; the cameras in her peripheral vision just seemed to disappear over time. Not now, though. They were walking around with extra cameras and lights (the shadows of the tall buildings in New York would keep casting over their faces at night) as well as bodyguards. Oh, what it is to be on reality T.V.
A crowd formed around them almost instantly after they walked off the plane. Annabeth was pushed through the crowd by the people and bodyguards alike until she was standing on the other end, panting. Ryan was panting slightly less. And Percy… he was running like a maniac to the cab.
"Annabeth," He whined "Let's go!"
"Where?"
"To see my mom, duh!" he said.
Annabeth had almost forgotten about Sally and Paul's apartment in New York and found herself panicking. What do you say to the parents of the guy that you kicked to the curb and then proceeded to not speak to for such a long time?
"Uh, do you want to go now?" she started hesitantly.
She was half-pushed into the cab by one of the camera crew. Okay. That was decided, then.
She was slightly confused when they pulled up at an expensive looking apartment building instead of at Paul and Sally's shabby (but awesome) apartment further south.
"Why're we stopping here?" she said, confused.
"Oh, yeah, you don't know- My mom and Blofis upgraded." Percy said before running up to the elevator (much to the security guard's disapproval) and jabbing the elevator button several times more than necessary. Boy, he was excited.
Right after Annabeth rang the doorbell, Percy started to say "Oh, there's something else I need to tell you…"
The door was opened by a cute little girl with brown hair who looked about five.
"Percy!" She squealed, and jumped into his arms.
"Paul and Sally had a kid?" Annabeth exclaimed.
"No, Annabeth, this is my kid." Percy said sarcastically, while she jumped on his back for a piggyback ride.
"What's your name?" Annabeth asked the girl.
She looked at her, as if just realizing she was there. "You're the girl that was on T.V! With Percy! Are you a movie star?"
"'Fraid not." Annabeth laughed. "What's your name?"
"Katerina."
"That's Greek!"
"Of course it is," a voice coming from the kitchen said, "a quarter of our family is half-Greek, after all. I think. Math was never my strong point."
Sally Blofis emerged from the kitchen with soup all over her apron. She had stayed remarkably unchanged, except for the fact that the lines around her eyes had deepened.
"Remember me?" she smiled.
Annabeth ran forward and gave her a big bear hug. Katerina looked confused.
Paul had returned from work, Katerina had gone to bed and everyone was sitting around the dining table- with two burly cameramen that refused to speak. Percy was nervous about Annabeth meeting his family after so long, and though he had told his mother to be nice, he didn't know if she would actually follow through. She was upset with Annabeth (what mother wouldn't be, after all?) but he pleaded her not to show it, for his sake.
He knew she was uncomfortable welcoming her with open arms. But he was being selfish. Extremely selfish. And he really didn't regret it.
Paul cleared his throat and got up, banging the table in the process. "Annabeth, d'you wanna go to the other room and talk for a while? Just the two of us?"
Annabeth shot a panicked glance at Percy. "Uh… sure."
Percy watched her leave. "What was that about?"
"I wanted some alone time with both her and you." Sally said. "How's she been?"
"She's been a wreck sometimes, and awesome sometimes, for the past couple weeks." Percy admitted. "Ever since the show began, actually. She's been going through some crazy emotional stuff, though. I don't blame her. I don't think you should, either."
Sally snorted. "Oh, poor her. She's got guys right and left vying for her heart, and now she has to deal with the person who's heart she broke and never spoke to again."
"Mom!"
She sighed. "I'm sorry. I just don't think I'm ready for her to waltz into our lives again. I get that she had a boyfriend. She didn't even speak to my little boy for so many years. How am I supposed to take that?"
"That was mostly my fault, mom. She tried. Besides," Percy said, lowering his voice. "I think I might be falling in love with her. Again. And I think she might be falling in love with me, too."
Sally stared at him. "Are you sure this isn't wishful thinki-" she started slowly.
"This isn't wishful thinking, mom!"
"Okay," Sally said, placing her hand on his. "If you love her, that's good enough for me. I used to like her a lot, I really did. But from what I've seen, she's turned into an indecisive person who doesn't know what she wants from a relationship. This might sound cold, I know, but I want the best for you."
"Mom, I think she does know what she wants. As I said, she's just finding it hard to cope." Percy said.
"I'm all for second chances, okay, but don't you think you're being a little too easy on her? Especially in this circumstance. With you and Ryan (Percy had informed her of the goings-on) both dating her… I don't like it, okay? I don't like i…" Her voice trailed off when she saw Annabeth in the doorway.
"I think it would be best if I left." Annabeth mumbled, fumbling for her bag.
"Wait, I'm coming." Percy said, getting up.
"No- stay. Enjoy the rest of your dinner."
"Annabeth- you know I'm coming with you. Look, I'm sorry, you know I really do-"
"Percy, if you really do love me as much as you say you do, you'll stay. I'm not just saying this."
"Is this about what my mom said?" Percy whispered, realizing how stupid he was being. Of course it was about what his mom said.
"Just let it be, Percy!" She snapped, and walked out of the door.
Walking to their new suite just a few blocks away, every curse word known to man was running through Annabeths's head. She snapped, overreacted and now she wanted to punch the camera crew following her, telling her to walk slower. So they could add dramatic music in the background of this, no doubt. It would make for such good T.V.
Ryan almost jumped out of his seat when Annabeth opened the door noisily and slammed it. A piece of paper fluttered out of his hand and fell to the floor. Annabeth squinted trying to read it.
Annabeth, I know this will surprise you and I don't know if you'll believe me, but I hope you'll believe me when I say th
"Have you been trying to write a letter?" Annabeth asked incredulously.
"The key word being 'trying'." Ryan said, flopping down again.
"What's up?" Annabeth said, sitting down.
"Annabeth, I want to leave the show." He dropped the bomb that Annabeth had been fearing.
"Have you lost interest?" Annabeth asked meekly.
"No, the opposite. Annabeth, I never stopped loving you. And that's why it's so hard."
"What? If I wanted you to leave, I would say so."
"It's hard to believe you want me to stay when you're so clearly into him. What, with you having sex every other day-"
"That was one time-"
"And you just walking off with him today, the minute we land in New York! We're not just two little dolls you can pick up and drop every time you feel like it! You're going to end up with one of us, for good, I think, and based on what I've seen- It's going to be him. I don't want it to be, but that's true."
That was the moment Annabeth realized she was being a bitch.
"I'm sorry I ditched you today. That was wrong of me… but where you're going wrong is when you say that I prefer him. I don't. We have so many problems, and-"
"Why're you being so hesitant with me, then? I can feel it, okay?"
Annabeth stared at him for what seemed like hours. Her voice came out barely audible.
"I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"The only reason you went out with me in the first place is because my dad paid you." said Annabeth.
Ryan's head jerked in her direction. "Who told you that?"
"Just kind of assumed." Annabeth shrugged.
"He never paid me anything. I actually liked you. A hell of a lot."
"Then why'd you cheat on me?" Annabeth half-whispered.
"Did you ever see me cheating on you?" Ryan said, sadly.
"No." Annabeth said, slowly.
"Do you have any proof, whatsoever of me cheating on you, besides campus rumours?"
"No."
"Then how do you know your asshole of a dad didn't make me spread them, when he found out my life was going down the shithole? That, plus breaking up with you- you think that was easy?" Ryan said, sounding like he was going to cry.
"You're serious?"
"Do I sound like I'm joking? I wasn't unhappy breaking up with you. You liked Percy when we were dating and didn't want to hurt my feelings."
"That's not true." Annabeth asserted.
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely."
"Well, I'll be damned." he said, before she kissed him.
"Stay." she whispered, before taking his shirt off.
"Why?" he half-joked.
"I think I may be in love with you." she said. Ryan bolted upwards and stared at her. She smiled, but she had a little voice nagging her in the back of her head. It happened to be Percy's voice.
The camera crew were lapping it up. They left the room to give them some privacy.
Anyway, chapter-wise, was that an unexpected twist? I don't know at this point. Review, please! It would mean the world to me!
