Ugh…I hate biology…I mean, I already know about cells! Why do I have to sit in a chair studying something I already know? It's just pointless…just like Freshman Seminar…there's no point…
Disclaimer: -_-' If I owned Naruto, I would use the money to get away from this good for nothing dead end town…garbage…and I'd probably make some friends that wouldn't criticize everything I do…
*With Ayu*
There was a loud bang, making Koko jump and turn, glaring accusingly at the four newest guests. Ayu had stopped screaming and her face was void of emotion as she stared at Sasori, Deidara, Hidan and Kakuzu.
She opened her mouth to speak but no sound came out. A fresh stream of tears began to fall down her face, mixing with her blood. Where's Itachi? She thought, looking for him, her eyes darting from side to side. He…didn't come? No, he's lying on the ground…
"What happened to you, un?" Deidara asked from right beside her, making her jump. She looked around slowly and noticed that the other three had begun fighting Koko who made those clones of hers.
"W-where's Itachi?" she whispered, her voice wavering. She was afraid of the answer. She didn't want him here, but at the same time, she did.
"Leader-sama told him to stay behind with Kisame," Deidara said, eyeing the girl. "He looked pretty torn up when he was giving the four of us our mission."
"H-he did?" she glared. "She has the scroll. Get the scroll. I will complete my mission."
"Stop acting tough, un," Deidara told her gently.
Ayu stared at him in shock, not expecting the blond to see through her so easily. She lowered her eyes. "I have to have done something right…"
Now it was Deidara's turn to stare at her in shock. He had remembered those words. He told them to himself every day after she had left. After she had died. He remembered how her name floated off of his lips, how she would giggle and mimic him.
Kalika…he thought. It won't happen this time, un…
"Come on, un," Deidara said gently, cutting the ropes that bound her wrists. He helped her up delicately, making sure she wouldn't fall over.
Ayu pushed him away, being steadied by her will alone. She walked slowly over to where the four were fighting.
Sasori had his chakra strings restraining Koko while she was stuck in Hidan's ritual. Kakuzu had his tentacles surrounding her.
Ayu approached Kakuzu, sending him a look that could only mean one thing: keep her in there.
He nodded, having understood her perfectly. She started walking towards the exit, motioning for Deidara to follow.
They walked through the door at a swift pace. "You need to help me find it," Ayu panted as she raced down the hall, feeling the wall. Deidara nodded, though she couldn't see it because of the terrible lighting. "You've…you've been through these…these tunnels before, ne?"
"Yeah," Deidara replied, feeling his side of the wall for any hidden doors. "There are a few tunnels that lead away from here, but this is the main path."
"Then we'll split up," Ayu told him. "Give me some of your clay."
"What, un?"
"So that if you find the scroll, you can just blow it up or something to tell me you have it," she explained. "I'll send a mini shock wave out."
He nodded. "How will I know it's you though, un?"
"Listen for the crackle," she grinned.
"Okay, un…"
"Go!" they ran down the hallway, Ayu panting but not slowing down until they came to the first intersection, and they split up, Ayu taking the left side, Deidara taking the right.
*Itachi and Kisame*
Itachi walked down the hall leading to the exit of the base slowly, reluctant to leave just in case Ayu came back and he wasn't there. What would she think? He thought sullenly. Would she be mad that I didn't come from her? Would she not care?
Eventually he came to a stop next to Kisame, who gave him a sympathetic look that he ignored. "Are you-"
"We should go," Itachi interrupted, walking past the blue man and out the door. He walked at first before breaking into a jog. He got aggravated soon after and began sprinting, adding chakra to his feet to increase his speed greatly.
He had a plan: go, get the needed info, maybe take out a few guys, and come home in time for Ayu. That's it. Nothing else. There was no time for sleeping no time for eating. Just go and come back.
Days went by, and Kisame struggled to keep up. "Hey…" he panted. "Can we…take…take…a…what-do-you-call-it…"
"No, no breaks," Itachi replied, tossing Kisame a bag of food pills. "Take some of those and focus."
Kisame sent Itachi an incredulous look before glaring at the food pills. "I want real food…"
"No time."
This earned Itachi a glare, but—having been an Uchiha—didn't affect him at all. He kept running until something happened.
Kisame collapsed on the ground, unmoving.
Itachi immediately froze, activating his Sharingan and checking for other chakra signatures. Finding nothing, he knelt beside Kisame and found him asleep. I must've pushed him too hard, he thought sadly. I must take better care of my teammates…
He moved Kisame into a more safe location and allowed his teammate to rest while he kept watch until fatigue made him close his eyes.
Sleep seems nice…I'll need sleep to keep Ayu safe-
His eyes snapped back open. "I can't sleep," he scolded himself. "I have to focus on Ayu. As soon as Kisame's awake, we'll head out again. That's what we'll do…"
*With Ayu*
She was surprised how far she could run, though her ankle hurt like hell every time she put pressure on it so her steps were short and choppy but swift which made up for it. As she ran, she focused healing chakra in her ankle, trying to heal it.
She was focusing so intently she almost ran right past a crevice in the wall. She stopped, returning to where she had felt it, feeling around the wall to find it.
Eventually she did, and was surprised to find that it felt like…a button. She pushed it experimentally.
The wall split in two and revealed a room. It was large and empty with tiles on every surface from the floors to the walls to the ceiling. Other than that it was empty except for some empty ledges carved into the walls.
She walked into the room slowly. The doorway closed immediately after. As soon as there was no outside light showing in the room, the carved ledges lit up, exposing objects in each. A voice floated through the room.
"Welcome, Master Koko," it said in a female voice.
Ayu shivered, trying to ignore the voice as she walked around the room, eyeing the objects in the shelves. Footsteps echoed in the seemingly empty room that weren't Ayu's.
The black haired nin froze, hearing the person approach her. "Master Koko?" the same female voice said, except quieter this time. "Is everything alright?"
Ayu stared at the mask shown in the ledge. She nodded in response.
"If you were looking for the prize, I hid it, just like you told me to," she said, coming closer. "You know what else you told me?"
Ayu cocked her head to the side.
"You told me that if anyone that happens to look like you comes in and avoids eye contact and refuses to speak comes in to kill them on the spot."
Ayu was about to turn around, but something cold and sharp pierced her heart and she fell to the ground, cold and unmoving.
