Number 4: Part Two
Annabeth POV…
Percy was home today and that meant I was having a hard time paying attention on work. I could hear the girls laughing in the other room. Danny was at daycare for the morning. I glanced down at my baby bump that was showing. We were going to find out the sex of the baby this week. I didn't care what it was but Percy wanted a boy to even the numbers around here. I let out a little laugh.
I glance back at the building that I suppose too be deigning for a company in L.A. I sighed and glanced at the clock I still had four hours before Percy came home. I put on some music so I can get to work.
It must have worked because the next time I looked at the clock to see that I only had an hour before I had to leave to pick up Percy. I turned off the music and started to put things away because I wasn't going to be working for the rest of the day. I looked around my office to see if anything was out of place but it wasn't. I shook my head, I'm a daughter of Athena. Speaking of Athena, I say a little prayer to Hermes to keep watch out for Percy and to Zeus so he doesn't shot Percy out of the sky. I don't want to be a widow just yet.
I grab my purse and keys, I'll leave now and grab a coffee before he gets off the plane. I leave my office to see that Jamie had picked up Danny from daycare. Jamie was a young woman with dark brown hair and light blue eyes. She was great with the kids. The kids were sitting down for lunch that was finishing up. Jamie smiled up at me.
I return her smile. "I'm going to go and pick up Percy at the airport. I should be back in a few hours." Jamie nodded.
Danny got off his chair and came over to me. "Can I come with you?" He asked. I glance at Jamie before smiling down at Danny.
"No, you have to take a nap and when you wake up Daddy will be here." Was it wrong that I wanted some time alone with my husband.
Danny smiled. He was the one who missed Percy the most out of the kids. "Okay," He turned to Jamie. "Can I take my nap now?" Jamie and I both laughed. I kiss the girls on their heads.
"Be good," I kiss Danny on the cheek. I watched run around the kitchen because Jamie told him that he had to help clean up. I left when they were busy.
I got in the van and drove away. I stopped at fast food place to pick something up to eat. I was eating for two. I drove to the airport and ate in the van before going in. I took a seat and waited for Percy to come out.
I watched love ones embrace each other as they came in or left. I wanted to cry because it was so sweet. There was something about it, maybe it was that no matter what happens I will always miss you or that I will always love you. I wiped a tear away from my eye.
"I know what you mean." I turned to an old woman. "I love sitting here and watching families." I knew there that this was the goddess of marriage and family. What was she doing here sitting next to me? I wasn't her favorite demi-god.
"Hello Hera," I said. She smiled. "I was wondering when you would notice it was me. It has been awhile since you and Percy been to Olympus."
"Sorry, we've been business raising our family." I smiled. I glance to if people that were coming out was Percy.
"I know but come up some time." She placed a hand on my stomach. "This one is going to cause you and Percy some trouble."
I closed my eyes and sighed. When I opened them Hera was gone. Thank you for telling me that, Hera. Now that is all I'm going to think about. I sighed and turned to watch if Percy was here yet. I see a raven hair man in his Navy browns and knew it was my husband, Percy. I stand up and head for him. He see me with those green eyes and smiles. He drops his bag and takes me in his arms. He kisses me.
"I missed you, Wise Girl." I kiss him one more time.
"I missed you too, Seaweed Brain." He lets me go and grabbed his bag and my hand. He bring my hand to his mouth and kissed it. I forgot the words that Hera said to me and what she said about our child that I was carrying.
We got out to the car and Percy threw his bag in the car. "Is there some place we can go before heading home," I saw the look in his eyes and knew where he want to go. We got in the car.
"No, your son misses you and I told him that you would be there when he wakes up from his nap." I saw the frown on his face. I lean over to him. "Later, you can have me all you." I saw his eyes darken before I give him a kiss and drove away from the airport.
We got home just in time for Danny to wake up. He ran from the family room to the door when he heard the door open. "Daddy," He ran right into Percy's legs. I tried not to laugh. Percy dropped his bag and picked up Danny to give him a kiss. Danny laughed. Percy put him down, Danny grabbed his hand and led him to the family room, along the way Danny was telling Percy everything that had happen when he was gone.
I followed them and saw that Percy sitting on the couch with all of children sitting on or around him. Zoe was telling him something in baby talk that she only knew. I turned to Jamie. "You can take the rest of the off," She smiled and gathered her things to go.
"Thank you, Annabeth." I nodded. Jamie left. I stood there watching father and children. Percy looked up and smiled. I could see that he missed the children. I walked over and picked up Eliza so I was next to Percy. I couldn't believe this was my family. It was then that Hera's words came back to me. I didn't know if I was going to tell Percy I knew that he wouldn't be too happy about the god interfering with our children. Right now I'm going to enjoy my family right now.
Percy kissed my hand as we waiting for the doctor to come. Today we were going to find out what we were having. I glance at Percy to see that he was happy about it. I was going to ask him something when there was a knock on the door. Dr. Fly came in. "Hello Percy, Annabeth. How are we feeling today?" She asked me.
"Good," I said.
"Let's take a look," I nodded and leaned back on the table. Dr. Fly did what she had to do. "Let's take a look at them." She took a look. "Everything is good. Would you like to know the sex of the baby?" Percy and I traded looks.
"Yes," I said.
"If you look here." She pointed to the screen and Percy and I saw a little penis. "You are having a boy." Percy leaned over and kissed.
"Now we will have two if each," He sounded happy that we were going to have a boy.
I nodded. Dr. Fly smiled at us. "I hope to see next month, Annabeth." I nodded. Dr. Fly left us and I got dress.
Percy led me out of the doctor office. "Now we have to think of boy names and start to decorate the room for him." I rolled my eyes at him.
"We still have time." I laughed. We had arrived at the car and Percy help me in. "We can get Danny old things out of the attic and see what is still useable."
"Knowing you, I'm going to say that most of them are." Percy started the car. I hit him and he gave me a look that made me laugh. He drove the rest of the way home.
The next week Percy came home from work with a frown. He set his bag down. He went upstairs and changed before coming downstairs. He kissed me before looking over to the kids, who were playing. "Is something wrong Percy?" I asked.
"I have to leave for Florida in March for my officer training and I will be back in about three to four months."
"Already, I thought you were going to talk to them about waiting until after the baby." I said. I knew Percy wanted to be here for me and the baby.
"I did but they say this is the best time to go and that it was an order. So I leaving." I stop making dinner and hug him.
"Everything will be okay. The baby is not due until June. You could be back in time for the birth of our son." Percy nodded. "Now go and set the table." I patted his back and let him go.
I hated that Percy was leaving and he wouldn't be here for the kids and me. Everyday I'm going to get bigger and he won't see his son grow in me. I knew Percy needed this for his career but that didn't mean I have to like it. I watched Percy set the table with Danny following him and telling him about his new friend in daycare. I sighed, I was going to miss days like this with Percy gone. After the table was set he picked up Danny and started to spin him around the room.
"Percy put your son down," I yelled. Percy put Danny down before smiling at me. I shook my head at him. "Get the kids to the table." I said as I brought food to the table so we could eat.
We were standing at the airport, saying goodbye to Percy. He was giving the girls noisy kisses and making them laugh. Danny was holding on to my pants. He could tell that Percy was leaving. He didn't like it, I could tell by the tears falling out of his eyes. Percy kissed the girls one more time before coming over to me. I made Danny let go my pants while I went over to the stroller. I watched while Percy said something to Danny. I saw Danny throw his arms around Percy and Percy pulling him close. I felt tears come to my eyes. I wiped them away. Percy carried Danny over to me. He set down Danny, who grabbed on to my pants leg again. Percy leaned over and kissed me.
"I love you, Wise Girl," He whispered to me.
"I love you, too Seaweed Brain," Percy kissed me one more time before grabbing his bag and headed for sercity. I stood there with the kids as I watched him until I couldn't see him anymore. I grabbed Danny's hand and pushed the stroller out of the airport. Percy was going to be gone for the next four mouths.
I sighed and touch my stomach to feel my son in there. I let out a tear while getting the kids in the van. I got in and drove away. I wanted to cry but I had to put a smile on for my son, who was watching my every move. I decide to stop somewhere where they can play and get lunch. I stopped in front of a McDonald's with a play area. I got everyone out and bought lunch, made sure they ate before they went off to play. They needed this to not to think about Percy leaving.
I let them play until a saw a yawn from Eliza. I gather them all and headed for home where I put them down for a nap. I went around the house to clean up it was the only thing that could take my mind off of Percy leaving. I should be used to this after almost twelve years. I know that he will always come home to me no matter what happens to him. I put the last of the toys away and decide to lay down for a second and try to get my mind off of Percy and think about the kids and work.
I must have fallen asleep because I felt someone crawl in the bed next to me. I looked over and there was Danny looking at me. I wanted to cry because he was looking at me like Percy. Sometimes he looks like Percy so much it makes me smile that he is mine. I lean over and kiss him and he wipes it away. I laughed.
"Come on, let's go and get your sisters and go downstairs to play." Danny jumped out of the bed and led the way to the girls' room. When we got there both of the girls were up. I picked them up and took all three of them downstairs. We played and it made me stop thinking about Percy and what he was doing.
I bit my lip. This placement was coming together and it was bothering me. I was ready to throw the damn thing across the room. There was a knock on my door. I let out a breath before I went to the door to open it. Jamie was standing with a smile on her face. I looked around to see if one of the kids were hurt. Jamie smiled. She knew what I was thinking. "There is someone at the door. I told her that you are not to be bother but she said that you will see her." I nodded.
"Thank you, Jamie." She moved out of the way as I came out of the room. I went to the front door. I saw my mother standing there looking around. I haven't seen since I left for California. I looked around to see if any of the kids or Jamie was around but they weren't.
"Hello, Mother," She turned to my voice. "Let's go outside and talk." My mother glance down at my baby bump. I was six months pregnant and Percy had been gone a month. "You should know that I'm pregnant, Mother."
"I do, Annabeth." We started down the street. "I'm just thinking that this is number four and it is going to be a boy." I nodded.
"What are you doing here, Mother?" I asked. I hated that she didn't just come out and say what she meant sometimes.
"One to tell you that boy you are carrying is going to bring trouble to you." I sighed and nodded. I remember Hera saying something about that. "Also it has been awhile since you and Percy came to Olympus in a while and we would like to ask you about something."
I could feel the anger rise in me. "Sorry that we haven't visited in a while, we have been busy raising our family and working."
"I know but after this one is born and Percy is back we would like you to come and Zeus is saying this." Athena said. I sighed.
"I'll see what we can do." I said. My mother nodded. "That is all I am asking." I nodded and watched my mother walk away and disappear leaving me alone. I sighed. The gods are never going to leave us alone. I headed back home. I'll talk to Percy and see what he wants to do about this. It's not like we have jobs and a family to worry about. I wanted to scream and shake my fist at them. I thought that after the war they would leave us alone and let us live our lives.
When I got home I went straight to my office and decide to call Percy tonight after the kids were in bed. I sent him a text telling him that I was going to call.
After getting the kids in bed where Zoe wouldn't go to sleep, I finally got to my room with a sleeping Zoe in my arms. I place her in the center of the bed. I picked up my cell phone and found Percy to call him. He answered in the first couple of rings.
"Hello," I closed my eyes at the sound of his voice. I missed him but he needed this.
"Hey," I whispered, trying not to wake the sleeping toddler in my bed.
"How are you doing?" He asked.
"Good," I sat down at the end of the bed. I glanced at Zoe. "How about you?" I asked.
"Good for the most part but good. What did you need talk about? Are the kids okay? Are you and the baby doing okay?"
"The kids are great. I have one sleeping in our bed right now. The baby and I are okay." I took a sigh and took a glance at Zoe. "I have talked to two goddess in the last three months and they both been about our son that I am carrying and they want us to visit them after the baby is born." Percy sighed.
"I had visit from my dad after I came here. He told me the same thing about visiting them. Were both goddess telling you that you should visit and what were they saying about our son?" Percy asked.
"Yes and they were saying that he was going to cause us trouble. They didn't say how only that he was." I heard him sigh.
"We'll talk about visiting them after the baby is here and I get back. Why are they bothering us now that we have a family to think about and jobs?"
"I don't know. We will just have to see what they want." I said.
"Yeah," Percy didn't sound very happy.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you, too." I heard the smile in his voice. "I have to go but I'll call you this weekend to talk to the kids. Tell them Daddy loves them and misses them."
"I will, goodnight." I hung up the phone, got in my pajamas and crawl in bed with my sleeping daughter.
The months flew by and June was here, the baby will be here any day now and Percy will be home any day too. I was happy for both. I talked to Jamie and asked her to be here for the kids when I went into labor. She was staying in the guest room. If Percy wasn't here in time our neighbor Mrs. Thomas is going to take me to the hospital so Jamie could be here for the kids.
It was a Friday afternoon when I got the first contraction. I timed it and it was fifteen minutes apart. Jamie had taken the kids to the park. I reached for my phone and called Mrs. Thomas. All she said was.
"It is time, I'll right there. I'll call Jamie to let her know." She didn't wait for me to say anything just hung up. She was coming in threw the back door with her phone on her ear. I knew she was talking to Jamie. She smiled at me. "Is your bag by the door?" I nodded. She helped me up and headed for the front door. She helped me in the car and drove to the hospital.
We got to the hospital where I was checked in and put in a room. I tried to call Percy but he must be busy because he didn't answer his phone. Here I was having his son and he was nowhere to found. Dr. Fly came in and check that everything was going well.
"Everything looks great, Annabeth. We just have to wait." I nodded. I knew all about waiting after two other pregnancies.
It was two hours later and I was still pregnant, it was like he was waiting for something. Mrs. Thomas and I heard someone running in the hall and coming to my room. The door opened and Percy walked in. I started to cry because he made it just in time. He smiled at Mrs. Thomas.
"Thank you for being here with her." Mrs. Thomas got up.
"It was my pleasure. Let me know what you name him." She left me and Percy alone. Percy came over and kissed me.
"How did you know I was here? I tried to call you." I asked him as he took the seat that Mrs. Thomas vacant.
"I got home and no one was there. I looked everywhere and no one was there. I was about to call you when I saw Jamie pull in with the kids. She told me what happen, I kissed each of the children before jumping in the car and coming here."
I smiled. "I'm glad you got here when you did." Percy leaned over and kissed me before I squeeze his hand because I felt a contraction.
After Percy got here it seem that everything went quickly. I was pushing and our son was here. Dr. Fly smiled when she put my son on my chest. I started to cry when I saw him. He had a tuff of black hair like his brother. His eyes were closed so I didn't see what color they were. The nurse took him away to clean him. They brought him back wrapped in a blanket and cap. His eyes were open and it was the newborn blue. I wondered if they would stay that color or would they change to green like brother or grey like his sisters. Only time will tell.
"Would you like to hold him?" I asked Percy. He nodded and I handed him our second son. Percy looked at him.
"He is beautiful. You did good Annabeth." He leaned over and kissed me. I moved over and Percy got on the bed with me while holding him. "What should we name him?"
"I don't know." I said.
"How about Jacob?" Percy asked.
"Yeah, let's call him Jacob Thomas," I took my son from him. I kissed the top of his head. "Welcome to the world, Jacob Thomas Jackson."
