Chapter 12: Son Meets Father

Fuuuuuuuuck…

It was the only word his mind could dish out. He never in his life seized up like a deer caught in headlights like he was now. Jake couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Hell, his mind couldn't even think. His father was standing right there. Right there! But he was supposed to be dead, like everyone told him he was. It made no sense. Jake struggled to move. To do anything.

Wesker seemed satisfied by Jake's reaction. With a smirk he stepped closer to Jake. Jake had never before wanted to put so much space between himself and another person, but he wasn't about to show his father that he had this much control over him.

"You take another step and you'll regret it big time," Jake seethed. Normally, the venom filled words would have made even the toughest of scumbags back away timidly, but Jake might as well have been throwing a hapless threat at the devil himself.

Wesker chuckled, a sound that rumbled through Jake's nerves, and for a moment he thought back to his time as a mercenary. A time where he was in India and was cornered by a tiger in the jungle. His father reminded him of that tiger.

"Why the fuck aren't you dead?"

"Good. You know who I am," Wesker stated.

"Yeah. I know you who are. The man who almost destroyed the world…AKA the bastard who should receive the shittiest father of the year award."

Wesker took another step, disregarding his son's warning from earlier. "Trust me, had I've known you existed before today you would have seen me much earlier in your life. You can take that up with Laura later. Right now, I want to know how you have the same virus I do. How did you receive it?"

Jake glared at him. The prick didn't even know that she was dead. But he knew his father more than likely wouldn't have cared either. He clenched his fists, standing up taller and sneering at him.

"Oh sure Dad let me just tell you whatever you want to know after all we've been through," Jake scoffed sarcastically. "Blow off, dickhead."

He had found his footing. Turning his back on his father, he went to leave and get the hell out of there and find Sherry. But just as he turned, he felt himself be slammed forward into the brick wall. He couldn't tell if it was the foundation or his ribs cracking on the impact, but Wesker held him there. Even with his new tyrant strength from the virus, he was not breaking free of his father's hold.

"Your childish temper is annoying," Wesker said evenly. "Where did you get the virus?"

Jake couldn't understand why Wesker was so much stronger than he was if they had the same virus flowing through their veins. He struggled against Wesker's hold, growing angrier by the second. He was pinned to the point of not breaking free by his father's grasp.

"I'm not telling you shit!"

He kicked his leg out, striking Wesker hard enough to make him break his hold. As Jake took advantage of the split second freedom he gained, he spun around to retaliate but his fist struck air. Wesker reappeared a few feet away.

"Oh you will tell me, my son. I just have to get the right leverage. So why don't you think it over for a moment?"

As he spoke those words, Jake saw Sherry walk around the corner being held close by Evan Fox. He had made it look like he had his arm around her lovingly for the public's eye, having her close, but they missed the gun held to her ribcage, the barrel digging into the skin between two ribs.

Wesker motioned the new Chief Security Advisor over to his position. Evan dragged her along, keeping an eye on Jake with that gun to her. Wesker grabbed Sherry from his associate, pulling her to him and sticking a needle to her throat. Jake couldn't see what was in the syringe by how his hand held it.

Sherry turned pale upon seeing Wesker, like she was seeing a ghost. She didn't fight against his hold, but Jake stepped towards her, only for his father to stick the needle harder into her soft skin.

"Let her go!" Jake ordered.

"Tell me who gave you the virus and I will."

Jake glared at those taunting, cold sunglasses. Fox had moved to a safe distance behind Wesker so Jake couldn't grab him in return. Jake was stuck as he stared at the shocked Sherry and his father who held her hostage.

"Jake, he won't hurt me, don't tell him anything!" Sherry exclaimed.

"On the contrary, sweet Sherry," Wesker stated nonchalantly. He started to twist her arm behind her back, threatening to break it and making Sherry cry out.

"Stop it! I got it from Alex, you sick fuck! Now let her go!"

"Alex who?" Wesker let Sherry's arm go but still kept the syringe to her throat.

"Alex Wesker."

If his father was surprised he didn't show it. Evan Fox grunted to the side, sounding aghast at the name and looking to Wesker for his reaction. Jake only noticed his father clench his jaw tightly, before he stuck the needle all the way into Sherry's neck. He drew her blood into a syringe. Turned out there was nothing in the syringe before. His father had just played him. After drawing Sherry's blood and pocketing the syringe he shoved her into Jake's arms.

"Is that so?" Wesker purred. "Well, I didn't expect to pay my brother a visit so soon. I sure hope you aren't treating him as an ally, Jake. Your uncle is only loyal to himself, understand?"

"Sounds like someone else I know in the family," Jake snapped tartly.

"You think you know so much, do you?" Wesker asked playfully, taking a step towards them.

Jake pushed Sherry behind him, not about to back down with his own glare.

Wesker motioned to Sherry. "She's right, you know? I would never hurt her. I knew you would crack before I would have to. I did promise her father I would protect her. I am legally her guardian, after all. Isn't that right, Sherry? Uncle Albert always keeps his promises."

Sherry was shaking her head, looking to the smirking tyrant with a pleading look. Jake was puzzled, but he whirled on her. She could see the hurt, anger, and confusion in his cat eyes.

"The hell? You knew him personally?! Why didn't you tell me?!"

"I…tried!"

"Uh oh, looks like we have a little problem here. Sherry, keeping things from your friends? Don't be like your parents now."

"Shut up!" she yelled at him, knowing he purposely set her up. He wanted Jake to get hurt and angry.

"You kept this from me?! Why?!" Jake was definitely upset, rounding on her and suddenly not concerned about his father anymore.

"It's not like that, Jake! I tried to tell you!"

"Bullshit, Sherry! How long have I been here?! How long have I been seeking out answers?! He was family to you? Don't you think I deserved to know that?!"

Sherry didn't know what to say to him. Wesker was thoroughly amused. Of course she should have said something sooner. She tried. Why couldn't he understand that? It wasn't like she knew Wesker was alive and would eventually show up.

"Jake, please listen to me."

He was glaring at her still. But just as his eyes started to soften, and words were forming on his lips in what looked like an apology, he was stabbed in the neck with a syringe. Jake yelled out, trying to strike Wesker, but it was too late. His father snatched his arm and automatically broke it.

Jake cried out, but his senses were going insane. His sight boiled, leaving only colors and blurred shapes. His head exploded in pain almost like a volcano. Noises were heightened to unbearable pitches in his eardrums, and he was suddenly on the ground holding his head with the only arm he could use.

"Jake, no!" he heard Sherry cry before he felt a sudden falling sensation come over him and everything went black.

"That was entirely too easy." Wesker looked over his shoulder to the Chief Security Advisor. "Get the vehicle."

Evan nodded and hurried off.

"What are you doing? Leave him alone!" Sherry yelled, coming at her father's old friend. She had to protect Jake!

Wesker dodged her twice, but then realized she was just putting herself between him and the unconscious Jake on the ground. She glared at him, crouching down to try and shake him awake. Jake wouldn't respond.

"What did you do?!"

Wesker glanced at a wristwatch. "I gave him an overdose of serum to send his virus into an over-productive state. It will keep him down for a while since his body cannot handle it right now." He shook his head. "What a mess he is. Has no control over his emotions. Apparently dumb enough to turn his back on me for trivial matters between you two. I must admit, I am a little disappointed. Even if he has my virus."

A brand new, black Cadillac Escalade pulled up just outside of the alleyway and honked. As Wesker stepped towards Sherry and his unconscious son, Sherry became more protective. She knew she couldn't do anything. She didn't have a weapon on her and she would be helpless against him no matter what.

"Please don't do this! Don't take him away from me!"

"I'm sorry, sweet one. He isn't yours to keep. I'll return him to you in time."

He grabbed her arm just hard enough to pull her up. He dragged her to the side, away from Jake. For a moment, Sherry stared up at Wesker's eyes. The tone he used was the one he would use on her when she was a child, back when she looked up to him as a family member. He cupped her chin with his fingers for a moment, a soft smile on his lips and his eyes looked delighted behind the shades.

"You've taken after William," he said, then let her go. "You better get out of here, sweet one. Don't make me knock you unconscious as well."

Sherry watched hopelessly as Wesker picked up Jake and carried him over to the vehicle. He laid his son down in the back seat, closed the door and then climbed into the passenger side door.

As the Escalade sped off, Sherry knew she had to find the others and tell them what happened. They had to get Jake back!

Swallowing her emotions, she gathered herself with new determination and headed for her car with quick strides.

A/N: I'm alive! I'm back! It's good to be here! So sorry for the late update. My life just seemed to get so busy this last year. I guess I should let you know that I have also been working on my original works. I am now a published author. Been working towards that for a while, but this last year I decided to focus on making it happen over fanfiction. But I have seen all of your reviews and messages and have not forgotten! I hope to get back in the groove, if you guys still care to have me around after leaving you hanging so long! If you are interested in checking out my novel, check my profile page for the links!

Now for this chapter. I actually had to go back and read some to remember what all happened! So I apologize for the lateness as well as the short chapter. I want to ease myself back into fanfiction. And before you ask, YES NIGHTFALL IS COMING NEXT. I hope to finish up its chapter tomorrow. (Fingers crossed)

I want to thank everyone who has remained dedicated even in my long absence. Thank you for still checking on me and asking for more! And I am so so sorry for the long delay, I just needed the time to make my dream a reality and actually work on my own original works.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)
