*Sorry for the long wait. I've been incredibly busy with school and had severe writer's block again. Anyways, I'm going to try something new for this chapter and hopefully you'll like it. It's going to be written in Paige's point of view that way every one can get to know the sisters and Leo better - their personalities, jobs, relationship status, etc. If this gets a good response then maybe I'll keep doing this again.
Reviews:
EsmeHollyElizabeth: I had to make Mark more likable, because he was actually really nice and sweet on the show. (And spoiler I also think that everyone's view of Mark will change as the story progresses.)
wiccancharmedjournals: I thought about making her a half sister, but I decided against it mostly because, I have some thoughts and plans about her family and origins and also Piper and Leo could have a relationship (if it ever comes down to that).
Guest # 1 and #2: Thanks for the reviews, I'll try to update more often. Especially because I don't even think that this story is halfway done yet (there is still a lot to cover and I'm planning on ending this part of the story-I'm thinking that this will be a trilogy-after season 2, then branching away from canon completely).
(Paige's POV)
"Leo. Leo. LEO! Are you even listening to me?" Phoebe screamed down the hall. I had just woken up, a little later than usual because it was my day off. I worked at the Social Bay Services as an assistant social worker. I was training to become a full fledged Social Worker. We needed the money that came with that promotion. I mean it wasn't like we were at risk of losing the house, but because Phoebe not working and the constant demon attacks to our furniture, money is tight. At least we have a cousin who's a handyman, that keeps the costs down luckily.
Oh here I am rambling on and on again. Don't mind me I tend to ramble a lot. Anyways, back to why Phoebe was screaming. Leo stayed over again last night after his 'talk' with Piper. He didn't really say what happened between them, but all I know is that Piper ran out of the Manor pretty quickly and Leo started sobbing. All of us tried to comfort him, but he shook it off and stayed silent. Prue wanted to go and give Piper a piece of her mind, but Leo stopped her. He said that it was his fault that Piper left and he was probably the only one who could fix it. Whatever that meant. I'll have to ask her later. We nodded and Prue and I dropped the subject. Phoebe hasn't dropped it since and has tried to get him to talk all night and now all morning.
I crawled out of bed. I peeked out in the hallway to see where Phoebe and Leo were. They definitely needed my mediating skills. See that's one of the weird things about this family, I am the youngest, and yet I am always playing mediator. I mean Prue and Phoebe butt heads a lot and Leo and Phoebe and sometimes Leo and Prue fight too. It's always my job to make sure that no one gets hurt. Especially when we were teenagers. Prue was the popular, cheerleading type and Leo was the jock, Phoebe was the rebel, always getting into trouble and finally there was me. I didn't really have a type. I was just there. Anyways, Prue and Phoebe fought more back then and lucky for us that we didn't have our powers back then, or else some serious damage would have been done for sure.
I went over to Phoebe's room where Phoebe and Leo were. Prue was at work. She's always at work. At least she is whenever we're not vanquishing demons. Which has become a weekly event now. I looked over at Leo. He looked like he didn't sleep that well last night, but who could blame him with everything that was going on. And not just with Piper.
Leo's mother, my aunt, is very sick. So Leo has moved back in to take care of her - that's just who he is. He would help everyone if he could. He should have gotten the witch gene (or at least be a whitelighter). It's almost like helping people is his calling or something. When he was younger he wanted to be a doctor, but has settled for being a handyman, because when he started school, our grandmother began having heart problems. Of course, the entire family urged for him to keep going, but he quit so that he could take care of her. Then she died, only a few months before then, and all of us were certain that he would start up again (he is almost done after all) and he said he would, but then we discovered that we were witches and his mother got sick and one thing led to another and I think he's given up on that dream almost entirely. Only a miracle or some divine intervention to change his mind.
"Leo, dude you need some sleep." I chimed in breaking the tension between my older sister and eldest cousin. Leo smiled and didn't reply. Phoebe gave me the "help me look" and I nodded. "So Leo, I know you don't want to talk about Piper, but maybe we could talk about something else, considering Phoebe woke me up early on my day off." Phoebe glared at me and Leo chuckled. "I'm fine Paige. I'm over it. I'm ready to move on with my life." He said even though I could tell he was lying. Geez he was acting so pathetically. This wasn't the normal Leo. Leo wasn't a playboy are anything like that, but normally once someone broke his he found a new girl by the next week. Meaning something serious happened or Piper means a whole lot more to him then anyone realized. I wanted to yell at her. I wanted her to see the pain she was causing my only male cousin. Because that's what families do, they have each other's back no matter what.
"Look, I get it you guys are just trying to help, but I need some time to think. I'm going to my mom's apartment." Phoebe tried to say something but Leo cut her off. "Please don't hate Piper, it's not her fault." He said confusing the two of us. We looked at each other and Phoebe motioned for me to freeze him. I shook my head and once he left the room I explained why, "I still can't freeze him remember, I've already tried that before. Besides we shouldn't hold him here against his will." "I know Paige. You're right. We need to figure out why you can't freeze him." "Maybe he's a witch." "Paige, there are no male witches in this family, you know that, I know that. It's common knowledge. I think you can't freeze him because you can't freeze family." "Yeah you're right. Hey do you have any plans for today"
"Yes, actually, I have a lunch date." "With whom?" "With that guy I met yesterday after the demon vanquish." "Oh right." Phoebe was always going out with some guy or another, but it was never anything serious. Heck, even yours truly never really saw anyone seriously, I mean my friend Glen from high school saw each other from time to time, but it wasn't serious. Prue was the only one of my sisters to actually be in a serious relationship at the moment. She had recently rekindled her romance with her high school sweetheart, Andy. Andy had always hung around the Manor when we were growing up, him and Leo were best friends, and eventually him and Prue took it to the next level. Then right after high school Andy left to Portland and the two broke up. Then the day that we became witches, Prue ran into him again and the two have been seeing each other since.
Even though I find them to be quite nauseating at times, I envy there relationship sometimes. All I want is their kind of love. I think I'll find it one day, hopefully. My dream guy is some rugged, manly man, one that isn't afraid to get involved with the action. Also, he can't be intimidated by a strong woman and also ideally, he has to be okay with the fact that I'm a witch. That's the big one. It plagues all of our lives. And surprisingly, not that many people are okay with it. It's why Phoebe or myself have a hard time finding "the one." Heck, even Prue hasn't told Andy yet, because she's afraid of what will happen to their relationship. I'm also sure that Leo will have to deal with it too, because his daughters might inherit the witch trait. (That's why Piper would be perfect for him considering she's magical too.)
Why does she have to be married? Why does everything have to be so complicated? Why is she leading him on? I still want to talk to her. I feel like she might spill what happened once everyone left. I might go storm over there and knock on her door and demand answers. Yep, my mind's made up, as soon as Phoebe leaves, that's exactly what I'll do. Oh wait, during our talk, the talk when she told me about her being a whitelighter, she told me that I could just call out for her and she would be there. Obviously, for whatever reason, I decided to wait until Phoebe left for her lunch date. Part of me wanted to protect Piper's secret, so that she could still trust me. And part of me didn't want Phoebe there, because it would be that much more awkward for everyone.
I spent the rest of the morning helping Phoebe get ready. Finally, it was time for her to go on her date. I dropped her off at Quake, because unfortunately Phoebe didn't have a car even though I did (it's not her fault really why she can't keep a good job. She had just moved back from New York right before we became witches and then with the constant demon attacks, its hard for her to explain why she needs to leave all of a sudden, unlike Prue and myself who have pretty flexible work hours). Anyways, I dropped her off with the promises to return in a few hours. She told me that she would just call Prue or Leo and I nodded and left.
I hurriedly rushed back to the Manor. Now was my chance. I was going to try and get Piper to talk to me. Because I need to know what happened, so that I can do my best to fix this whole situation. I ran into the front door and shut the door behind me. I looked across the street and noticed that no one was home. I closed my eyes to concentrate. I thought it was silly to simply call of her. I mean surely, that won't work right. Okay, here I go I guess, whatever it takes to help Leo. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes. All right it's now or never. I cleared my throat and began calling for the one person with all the answers.
"Piper. Hey Piper. It's um me Paige. I really need to talk to you. So if you can hear me, can you come over. It's really important. I mean it's not life or death but..." I rambled. At first I didn't think that it actually worked, but after a few moments the bright white lights appeared in front of me. Temporaily blinded, I took a step back and shielded my face from the lights. When I blinked again there stood Piper, in the flesh! I could not believe that it actually worked. That I could simply call out her name and her she stood. I also learned why there were called whitelighters. Concern shone on her face. "What's wrong Paige, is there a demon or another magical problem?" "Err, no, it's um. It's Leo." Her face went pale. "What happened to Leo?" "Nothing, it's just I need for you to tell me everything that happened to you yesterday. Please so that I can help him." "Look, Paige." "DO NOT EVEN START! YOU DID SOMETHING TO HIM THAT HURT HIM REALLY BADLY AND NOW YOU NEED TO TELL ME SO THAT I CAN FIX THIS, FIX HIM." I yelled at her. She signed. "Alright fine, but no more yelling." I nodded and waited for her to begin.
