This chapter will be double-OC! Or triple, if you count Duo, but I just refer to him and Cecilia as one. I needed a way to get Starfire all better, so I asked my friend if I could use her OC, Cat, who's an herbalist. She said sure, and so here you are. She helped edit this chapter, so thanks girl! If you would like to check out her BBRae stories, then just look up the author just a little cat. I'll try to incorporate as much fluff in as I can in these last few chapters. :)
In case any of you are wondering, I will do shoutouts in the last chapter. I did my first round at chapter 8, so I will have done them halfway through and at the end.
Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Titans, but I do own Cecilia and Duo!
Chapter 13: A Healer
The Titans shuffled out of the building, Robin carrying Starfire.
"We can't have her sit up." Robin said.
"What?"
"She can't sit up. She's going to have to lie down across the backseat, and someone's going to have to not ride in the T-car." This was a problem. They were all tired, and almost everyone had minor injuries. "Raven, can't you fly?"
Raven bit her lip. "I guess. Beast Boy needs to ride in the T-Car though. He took the worst of the attacks and-"
"She can ride doubles with me." Cecilia interjected. "Raven can sit behind me. She's light, Duo can carry both of us."
There was momentary silence. "OK. Let's just go." Raven said. Cyborg helped Robin lay Starfire down in the backseat, and Robin slid in and put her head in his lap. Beast Boy rode in the front with Cyborg. Cecilia bounced up on Duo's back and offered her far hand to Raven. Raven grabbed it and let Cecilia pull her up.
"Hold my waist." Cecilia instructed.
"I've ridden horses before." Raven said. "On Azerath. I can shoot from them too."
"Really? Then I'm going to make you ride Duo more often." Cecilia said. She clucked to Duo. "Take us to Cat's, buddy." Duo shot forward and Raven grabbed Cecilia's waist tightly. "Can you tell Cyborg to follow us, and that we'll have to get out and walk." Cecilia told Raven. Raven pulled out her communicator and told Cyborg what Cecilia had said. They rode for several minutes before they reached the real edge of the city that ended in trees. Cecilia slowed Duo to a halt and the T-Car stopped too.
"We're going to have to walk from here on. It's not too far, don't worry." Cecilia said.
The others piled out of the T-Car and Robin picked Starfire back up. "How far, exactly?" Robin asked.
"A couple of minutes. Trust me."
Raven and Cecilia dismounted Duo and walked behind Cecilia though the forest. He ground was covered in moss and you could hear a creek in the distance. They picked a minute or two after the road had disappeared out of view the came over the crest of a hill. At the bottom was the creek, and near it a small house. Lights shined from the little windows and it was even complete with a chiminey. A garden was next to the house and the back had a lean-to shed with a fence around it.
"Come on." Cecilia waved to them. She ran down the hill and opened the gate to the fence, and Duo trotted inside like he'd done it a million times. She brought some hay from the shed next to it and Duo started munching. The others joined her at the front door and Cecilia knocked. Slowly, the door opened.
Inside the house was a girl only about 13, no more. Her long brown hair fell down to just above her lower back. She wore fingerless gloves, leggings, and a tee shirt, all black, and her feet were bare.
"Cecilia!" The girl said happily. Her smile faded when she noticed the solemn faces and the injured Starfire in Robin's arms. "What happened? Why are you all here?"
"We have a problem and I need you to fix it. We have a bad injury." Cecilia said. "Can you help?"
The girl nodded. "I'll try. Bring her in." The girl waved them into the house. The front door led into a kitchen and main room combination. There was a wooden table in the middle of the room, and a small kitchen counter with a tiny sink and old-fashioned stove with cupboards overhead. The fireplace was on the opposite wall. The girl cleared off the table and took out a white table cloth. "Can you get a pillow from the closet?" She asked Cecilia. Cecilia nodded and slipped into the little hallway off the room and returned with a pillow. "Lay her on the table." Robin gingerly laid Starfire on the table with her head resting on the pillow. While the girl washed her hands and looked around in the cupboards, Cecilia brought out chairs for everyone. Then she boosted herself onto the counter like she did at home.
"So, guys. This is my friend Cat." Cat poked her head out of the cupboard and gave them a wave.
"What exactly happened?" asked Cat. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail, revealing small studs in both earlobes. Cecilia got off the counter and took her hair out, and put it into a bun on the top of her head. "Thanks." Cat smiled.
Cecilia explained about the whole battle and the presence of the Hell hounds. "She got hit in the leg by this huge dinosaur-porcupine thing. She needs the spines removed and something to put on it, and they're poisonous."
"Jesus." Cat breathed, looking at Starfire's swelled and red leg. Cecilia shot her a dark look. "Sorry. Can you get out the turmeric? Ooh, and the scissors." Cecilia hopped off the counter and moved to the cupboard and grabbed the bottle of the pills, and a glass of water. After explaining the whole swallowing-the-pill-whole-with-water thing to Starfire, she downed the pills. On a second thought, Cecilia whispered to Raven if she could put a sleep spell on her. Raven did so. "That's better." Cat said. She took off her gloves and took the scissors from Cecilia. Carefully, she cut away Starfire's torn boot. She got out a small glass bowl and tweezers, then gave Cecilia instructions for some poison extractor.
Cecilia opened up Cat's huge herb cupboard and looked lost. "What does it look like?"
Cat put her head in her hands. "I literally just told you."
"Well, there's a bunch of stuff that fits that description!"
"You've been to that fancy angel school and have lived wayyyyy longer than me. How hard is it?"
Raven sighed. She walked over and pulled out a bundle of dried leaves and handed them to Cecilia.
"See! She knows!"
"Yeah, well she's Raven. And I was going to say this." Cecilia waved the bundle.
"No you weren't." Cat said.
"Yeah I was."
"Not really."
"Fine. Raven, you do it."
Raven shrugged. "Where's the mortar and pestle?"
While Raven ground up the leaves and confirmed the adding of ingredients, Cat pulled the spines from Starfire's leg and put them in the bowl. Starfire was sleeping soundly, and so was Beast Boy. He'd changed into cat form and was lounging on his chair. Cyborg was dozing too, but Robin was wide awake. He watched the whole process with fascination. His trance was broken when a black cat with a smooshed-in Persian face jumped up on the table.
"Midnight! Get off!" Cat said. "Cecilia, can you get her? I want my hands to stay clean."
Cecilia plucked the cat off the table and held it to her chest, rubbing it's head with her chin. "Mid, stay off the table. Mama's working right now. Why don't you go visit Robin?" Cecilia put the cat on the ground and it trotted over to Robin. "Do cats bother you?" Cecilia asked.
"No. I like cats." Robin said. He bent down and scratched Midnight behind the ears.
Cecilia walked over and sat on the ground next to them. "She'll be fine." Cecilia said.
It took Robin a moment to get what she meant, and he nodded.
"Hey, are you hungry?"

Soon, Cat's little house was filled with good smells. Cat was still pulling out spines and Raven was heating up the paste in a pot on the back of the stove. Cecilia was making a kale and sausage soup, and had made a bowl of just the kale for Beast Boy. She grabbed a wooden spoon and walked over to Beast Boy's chair. She gave it a kick and cat-Beast Boy awoke with a start.
"Wha-? Oh, it's you. Why do I need to be up?"
"Dinner. It's vegan." Cecilia said.
"OK, cool."
"Boys... they'll eat anything put in front of them." Cecilia muttered.
"Hey! That's not true!" Beast Boy said, waving his spoon. "I don't eat meat."
"Whatever." Cecilia diced up the sausage and mixed it in to the rest of the soup. She ladled it into wooden bowls and handed them to the others, kicking Cyborg awake. Everyone downed the soup in rapid time and they came back for seconds. Beast Boy was mad because the rest had the sausage in it.
Cat finally finished taking all the spines out of Starfire's leg and called Raven over with the pot of remedy. Cat used a small brush to put it on Starfire's leg. Then she wrapped it up in a bunch of gauze pads and a bandage.
Cat stepped back and examined her handiwork. "I think I did pretty well."
"Thank you! You're the best!" Cecilia grabbed Cat and gave her a huge hug.
"OK, you can let go now." Cat said, out of breath.
"Oh. Whoops, sorry." She let go. "What else do we need to do?"
"Nothing. It should be better by tomorrow. The leaves in the paste will draw out the poison, and the rest of it should heal it. You can just throw the bandage out."
"Cool beans. Raven, you can wake her up."
"No, the spell is wearing off. She'll be awake by the time we get home." Raven said, touching Starfire's forehead.
"Well, we better get going. It's late and we all need showers." Cecilia said.
"OK. Come visit!" Cat shook hands with everyone, and Robin carried a sleeping Starfire out to the door. Cecilia went out to the back and got Duo.
Raven turned to Cat. "I think you should take one of these. You did a good job tonight." Raven produced a Titan Communicator from her cloak and held it out to her.
Cat stifled a gasp. "Are you serious? For me?"
Raven nodded. "Keep in touch. We might need you again." Raven gave her a rare half smile, then walked out to join the others. Cecilia helped her onto Duo.
Cat picked up Midnight and waved as they left. Once they where out of sight, she went back inside and closed the door. She put away the chairs and the pillow, and put the table cloth in the dirty linens basket. After she'd finished off Cecilia's soup and cleaned the kitchen, she examined her new communicator. There were lots of contacts: She noticed 'Cecilia and Duo' had been put together as one, then looked up Raven. She added them to her speed-dial. She got up and shuffled around in her closet. She produced a leather belt. It was a little big, so it hung at a slant which was OK because she thought it looked nice. She clipped the communicator to the side and admired it.
So, how was it? You can thank Cat for her ever-helpful OC. She's making her a whole story, so go look at it! It's called Once Upon a Nightmare. I'm sorry this took a while, but halfway through writing it, I went to the barn for a riding lesson and my head decided to meet a ice patch. I may have had a minor concussion, so I couldn't write. (I'm just injury prone this winter)
I still only have 2 votes for my next story poll! Either that or my poll status is messed up. Remember, It's only going to be open for voting until the end of this story! Please leave a review! It makes me so happy!
