Disclaimer: No matter how much I wis-... want it to be true, I do not own Danny Phantom.
It was all replaying in his head. The future ghosts beating on him, meeting the future Vlad, and the final battle. The final battle was the worst, though. Everything was going exactly the same, except for the fact that Sam and Tucker were kicking and screaming a lot more, to no effect. As he pulled Dan into the thermos, he turned around in realization and fear. "Oh no." The temperature gauge was deep in the red, and the glass cracked, falling to the ground. The tanks were burning hot, and everyone he cared about was strapped to them. He ran towards the restaurant from the other side of the street. The rings started to form around his waist, before fizzling out. Danny looked down in alarm, "I can't go ghost." Focusing more on his temporary disability, he tripped and fell flat on the ground. He watched helplessly as the tank let out steam and expanded, before exploding, nearly blinding him, taking everything he loved with it.
"NOOOOOOOO!" His scream was accompanied by the wordless screams of two other people. All three shot up into a sitting position at the same time, gasping for breath. Jazz immediately woke up, and some of the others who were still in the room sleeping began to stir. Ember fell out of the air at the sudden noise, and landed on the bed with Jazz and Sam in it.
"Gah, what's your deal?!" She rubbed her head at the unexpected contact with Jazz's leg. The trio all looked at each other with apprehension.
"Were we just-" Sam started, only for Tucker to cut her off with an affirmative.
"Uh-huh. Did we just-"
Danny confirmed, "Yep."
"Wow, Danny, I'm sorry you had to go through all that."
"Thanks, Sam. It was only because of Clockwork that it didn't really happen." He held his head, as it pounded. Looking down, he groaned, hid under the blankets, then transformed into Fenton. Hope no one important saw that.
"Remind me to thank him next time I see him. I'm really glad I didn't die."
Danny fell back on to the bed only to realize that he and Tucker weren't the only ones there anymore. "Dani? What are you doing here?"
"Sleeping..." She grumbled before turning over. She was on the edge of the bed with Danny on her left side. He blinked and wondered when the girl had gotten there. He figured it was some time while he was asleep.
"Dani, come on, you gotta get up." He tried to nudge her to wake her up, but she just swatted at him.
"Need more sleep..." He sighed, unsure how to get her to move. When the smell of breakfast foods got to him, he smirked, and leaned down, whispering,
"There's food ready." Surprisingly, it did nothing except put a grin on her face.
"Go get me some..." Danny sighed again, trying to think of a way to get her up and moving, before Sam came up with one.
Danny grinned, as he called to those still in the room, "Hey, does anyone have some water? Dani needs to wake-"
Her eyes opened quickly and she went straight up, "I'm up!" The teens laughed at the girl's reaction. She pouted before glowering at him. "Danny, that was so not funny!"
He rolled his eyes. "Dani, stop over exaggerating. It so was."
"No it wasn't!"
"Yeah-huh!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yeah-huh!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yeah-huh!"
"Nuh-uh!"
Jack grunted, "Danny, you and your sister knock it off. Your mother and I are trying to sleep." He rolled on to his other side, with his night cap falling off his head.
The two looked at each other before laughing. Danny was the first to collect himself, and correct his father, "Dad? I'm not arguing with Jazz."
He was confused, yet to make sure he heard correctly he sat up and looked around the room. He saw that Jazz was brushing her hair, and the small girl Phantom was sitting in the same bed as his son. His mouth gaped as his brain tried to process what he was seeing. The two Dannies cocked their heads before following his gaze. They both came to the same conclusion, and in unison, cried out, "EWW!" He pushed her out of the bed, making her yelp. Danny blushed and tried to glare at his dad, "Dad, that was so not cool! We aren't... like that!"
"Yeah, boys are gross!" She chimed in. The man raised an eyebrow, shaking his head before going back to sleep. Danny got up and tried to get out of the bed, but with Cujo, Tucker, and Dani all blocking him in, that seemed unlikely. Finally, Dani moved towards Sam and Jazz, and began a conversation with them. Danny got out of bed and got dressed, going out to the kitchen/living room area. Most of the students, and Mr. Lancer, were out here. He smelled the air and gave a content sigh.
He walked to the kitchen and saw a small amount of students brave enough to try the human food they had here. They didn't seem to find it too terrible. Danny sat down at the head of the table and saw that Ember had ghost eggs and bacon. Seeing that Spiri was cooking the food, he looked at her with hopeful eyes. Just because he didn't trust her yesterday didn't mean that things hadn't changed. What had changed was the fact that she had food. She giggled at his puppy dog look, before serving him eggs. He pouted that he didn't get bacon. Expecting his reaction, she pointed her spatula at Ember. "Sorry, she got the last of it."
He glared at the punk ghost. Seeing him, she chuckled, "Sorry, but I ain't givin' this up, jerkbucket."
He raised an eyebrow, and took a bite of his eggs. "Clockwork, you are such a hothead."
Clockwork floated up from downstairs, "What have I told you about using my name as a curse?"
Danny smiled innocently, "To always do it?" He laughed when there was no response except for the spirit muttering under his breath.
Ember stood, putting her hands flat on the table, with a wicked grin. "Dollface, I really don't think you wanna do this." The humans shrank away from the ghost, unsure of what she'd do. This got the attention of those in the living room, and those coming out of the beds room.
He got in the same stance, a cocky grin on his face. "What if I do?"
"Nimrod."
"Band geek."
"Boy Wonder."
"Box Ghost."
Ember's mouth gaped at this insult. She just noticed that with each insult, their faces had gotten slightly closer together. Fighting off a blush, she sat back and came up with the perfect name, as her lips curled into an evil smile. "Ghost Boy."
Danny tried to think of something, but coming up with nothing, he sat back down with a huff, "Fine! Keep them! I didn't want 'em anyway!"
She ate one of the three pieces, smirking, "You know what they say about sour grapes."
"Hey, is there food?!" Dani came and sat in the chair to the left of Danny with Jazz beside here, and Sam and Tucker to his right, behind Ember.
Spiri served Dani ghostly eggs like Danny and Ember, and the rest of Team Phantom had normal eggs. Cujo ran in barking, "Foodfoodfoodfoodfoodfoodfood!" She put a plate on the ground with eggs and let him chow down. Valerie, who was at the other end of the table, noticed that the Dannies' eggs had a slight ghostly aura, but she kept quiet.
Dani frowned as she, too, had no bacon. She gave Ember her sweetest look, and the ghost teen sighed. "Fine, here, take 'em. I already had some anyway." The Dannies helped themselves to her last two pieces of bacon, with glee.
At the mid-point in their meal, the group was talking about the next part of their plan. Maddie and Jack were the last ones to come out of the room. They glared at the two ghosts in the kitchen. Spiri offered them a plate, though neither of them took it, as she knew they would. They searched the room and soon found their son completely comfortable in the company of ghosts. They blinked with surprise, before they noticed the half-eaten omelette. Maddie gasped, "Danny, stop eating the food!" He paused mid-chew, then looked down. Realizing what was different about his, he quickly scarfed it down and swallowed. "Danny, you just poisoned yourself!" He rolled his eyes.
"Oh, please, I eat this stuff all the time." He shook his head as their mouths gaped, "Don't ask, cause I'm not gonna tell. Don't worry, I'm not gonna turn into a ghost, or anything." He and his friends all started laughing at the unintended joke.
Jack furrowed his brow, "And how do we know that? That stuff is lethal to humans."
"Dad, do I look like I'm dead?"
Dani smiled before muttering, "Not yet." Danny swiftly kicked her under the table. "Ow!" She glared at her original before continuing with her meal.
Jack looked at her with concern. He was about to say something when Danny got up from his seat, handed his plate to Spiri, and turned to the Time Spirit who was enjoying his own plate of breakfast at this point. "Clockwork?"
"11:37:58."
Danny nodded and turned to everyone. "You heard him. We have twenty minutes before we have to get going. Everyone finish up, and pack up." He went back into the room with the beds and started to pack up his friends' things. They came back in the room, surprised that it was already cleaned up.
"Danny, you really didn't have to do that. We could've cleaned it up." Sam looked around, seeing that it was only Team Phantom's things that were cleaned up.
"It's fine, Sam. The faster we get out of here and to the Far Frozen, the better."
He walked back out to the living room, and was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. "Danny, about your journey." Danny listened with wide eyes, hoping he had good news about how this would turn out. "Your secret is safe," The spirit said with a cryptic smile.
Everyone was ready to go, and Danny waited for them at the top of the stairs. As the group gathered, he heard voices from downstairs just as they were about to go down. "Shitshitshit, you guys, stop!" They all froze. "Crap, I think the Observants are here." He listened carefully.
"Clockwork! The halfas-"
"Yes, I know. In fact, I can show you Vladimir on the viewing portals right now." Danny gestured for them to be quiet, as they snuck downstairs and to the door leading to the backdoor.
"Clockwork, we see that Vladimir is not... up to anything right now, but we must speak to you about the others! We saw that you let them into your tower! That is a direct violation of-"
He interrupted, an almost smug voice, "You can turn around and go right up these stairs, if you are so worried. I assure you, you'll find no trace of them."
Danny whispered to Dani, Ember, and Cujo, "Grab as many people as you can, and turn invisible." They nodded, except for Cujo, who just grew in size and curled around the back of the group, and grabbed as many people as was possible. Everyone watched silently as the Observants turned around, almost looking at them, and went towards the stairs. People held in gasps at seeing that the only things they had for heads were eyeballs. Most people tensed when Clockwork looked directly at them, and winked. They hardly breathed loudly when the Observants stopped, and didn't go upstairs.
"Clockwork, what you have suggested... we find it to be suspicious. Maybe we will not leave." Clockwork only raised an eyebrow, and shrugged.
"Whatever you wish. Everything is as it should be." Danny broke from the group, using his own invisibility powers. He tip-toed over to the hall door. He pried it open, it being loosened from last night.
As it creaked, the Observants looked to Clockwork, "Is that door opening normal?"
Clockwork nodded, "Yes, I have been meaning to come have Skulker take a look, seeing that he's good with mechanics."
He dropped his voice to a low whisper, which most humans had a hard time hearing, "This hall leads to the back door. There's a really evil ghost in here, though, so we have to be quiet so he doesn't know we're there." Unseen, his parents rolled their eyes at his indicating that the ghost was evil. Of course it was, it was a ghost.
After everyone was safely inside, Clockwork closed the door behind him. "This door is always..." His voice faded out before becoming muffled mumbling behind a wall of wood. The ghosts lost their invisibility, letting out a silent sigh of relief.
"Back again? Well, aren't I lucky?" A small number of the group shivered, while those that knew of Dan's existence froze entirely. "What? Gonna stay silent this time?" Jack looked around for the source of the voice, only finding a very dented Fenton Thermos. In fact, it seemed there was a face dented out from it, like it had come from inside. Why is this here? Why is it all dented? He looked at his son, wanting to ask him his questions, when he stopped and took in his son's look. Danny was absolutely petrified, and he had a frightened, haunted look glazing over his eyes, as he stared at the thermos. "Oh, Da~nny~? I know you're here. Can't stay silent forever. Can't escape your future. Or maybe that's why you're being so quiet, you little rat? Maybe there's someone here who doesn't know your secret. Should I tell them, Danny-boy? Should I tell whoever's with you about how pathetic, wimpy Danny Fenton is rea- GINGERSNAPS!"
The thermos shot off it's small table when a green ecto-blast made contact with it. The group looked to see a very panicked Danny panting, with a smoking wrist ray, and his hand over the button. He turned away from the thermos, and called, "Run! C'mon, we just gotta get out the door!" He made sure everyone ran ahead of him, before he ran as fast as he could, far ahead of the jocks, but not faster than Cujo, or Ember.
He could hear Dan calling to him, "You can't run, Danny! You will turn into me! It's inevitable!" It took all his willpower and common sense to not turn intangible and run through the door, but throw it open and quickly make his escape. Once he was certain everyone was out, he slammed the door behind him, panting.
He slid down, leaning against the door. Holding his head in his hand, he didn't see everyone staring at him. A hesitant "Son," made him look up. His parents were looking at him with concern. The teens and Lancer were more wary of the enigma he was turning out to be. His friends gave small smiles of sympathy, especially Sam and Tucker. "Son, who was that ghost? Why did he say a lot of stuff about secrets and the future," His father asked.
He fought to keep the stutter out of his voice, "I- I don't know, Dad. He- He's just a really bad, messed up ghost, wh- who doesn't know anything." Guys? Help?! He cried out to them mentally with desperation.
"Mister Fenton, maybe you should just give us a minute. Danny'll be better than ever in a minute." Tucker stood in front of his friend protectively. Jack looked behind the dark teen to his son, then sighed and nodded. Sam and Tucker knelt down next to Danny, "Hey, man, you alright?"
"Yeah, perfectly fine. Not like I'm worrying about turning evil, I'm just fine and dandy."
As he rubbed his arms, Sam put a hand on his shoulder, "You're not going to turn evil. You promised, and you always keep your promises. It's okay, Danny."
He sighed, as Valerie came over, "Hey, guys, who was that ghost? He seemed to know an awful."
"He's just a big jerk who deserves to be in that thermos forever." Valerie's eyes widened. She hadn't ever heard Danny talk that terribly about ghosts. "He... he's from a different timeline that went wrong." She smiled that he trusted her enough to tell her that much.
"Well, that's a totally different timeline, so don't worry about it. Besides, it's not like you're gonna turn into a ghost, right?" She asked this with a smirk, which made the trio wonder how much the huntress knew.
Not wanting to push his luck, he denied, "No, not gonna be a ghost any time soon." He slowly got up and called to everyone. "Grab your bags. We head north."
After about ten minutes of walking, everyone heard a vaguely familiar voice, "WHELP! Where are you?! I know you're here! Ember, I also know you're here! Both of you, come out, or I will hunt you down and hang both your pelts!" To their far left, high in the sky, was Skulker, looking at his arm trying to determine their location.
"Ugh, it's Skulker," Ember groaned.
Danny looked at her, puzzled, "What does he want with you?"
She shrugged, "I broke up with him, he's still chasing after me. Hey, I can distract him so that you guys can get to the far Frozen without trouble from him. Besides, I don't mix well with cold. " She flew up into the air, before a look of remembrance crossed her features. She landed back on the ground and walked over to Danny, " Before I forget," she turned invisible, and he felt a small pressure on his cheek, before it quickly pulled away. Realizing what she had done, he held his hand to the spot she had kissed, with a small smile. She turned visible again, with an almost-smug smirk, "Happy Birthday, Angelface." She flew away after a quick giggle, calling out, "Hey, Skulker!" She sped away from the group, the hunter following after her.
Everyone was tired and near ready to pass out by 6:45, except for the ghost and halfas. Danny looked up at their path and grinned. "You guys, we've only got about another half hour to go. I would suggest putting on any coats or jackets, if you have them."
AN: Here you go! So, Ember kissed Danny? And what does Valerie know? How are the humans going to react to Frostbite and his followers?
Danny: Stop torturing them. That's not cool.
Shut up, Danny! It's too fun! Remember to review! Kasena, out!
