"Oh my god! You slept with him? As in you guys had sex?"
"God no! I just fell asleep next to him in bed. It was all just friendly. Nothing sexual. God you're turning into a pervert. What has Sparky done to you Liss?" I tell her, smiling at her ridiculously. God Lissa has changed. "Wait, don't answer that. I don't want to know what he has done to you. I've seen enough of that already." I tell her, grimacing at the memory of when I got sucked into Lissa's head when she was having sex with Christian.
"Rose!" She groans, pushing me off of my seat. Thankfully, I felt two hands on my waist to catch me just in time. I look up to find beautiful dark green eyes, different to Lissa and Adrian's.
"Oh,Thanks." I say, standing up and sitting back. I look up and observe him. He was definitely hot. Tan, broad-chested and blonde with green eyes. Damn. I'm starting to LOVE Mexico. I guess I said no boys but that didn't mean I couldn't look at them right?
"No problem." I hear a hoarse, deep voice tell me. "I'm Hunter. I'll be there if you need anything else." He winks at me and walks away, looking back at me. Lissa slaps my shoulder and looks at me with eyes wide with excitement.
"Oh my god." Lissa exclaims, jumping in her seat. I laugh and roll my eyes, laying back down. I already had enough trouble with Adrian and the others. Beside, compared to Adrian, that guy didn't even come close. His eyes weren't nearly as gorgeous. Wait, where was this coming from? Just as I was about to shut my eyes, I felt Lissa gasp and I shot up, ready to fight. I slump my shoulders back down in relief when I find Christian next to her. Ugh, great. I lay back down but is stopped when I am hit by a volleyball. I growl and grab the ball, glaring at Mason who just threw it at me.
"Sorry! It slipped." He said, throwing his hands up in surrender. I smile and play along, but then throw it on his face. "Ow! God Rosie, no need to be so violent!" He said, pinching the bridge of his nose to make sure it didn't break. I smile innocently and lay back down, putting down my sunglasses. "Yo Hathaway! Bet you, you can't win against me!" I hear Mason yell. I stand up and putt my sunglasses down and look at him. Really? He thinks he's gonna win? Yeah right. Bring it on! Rose Hathaway never backs down from a challenge. I go up to the volleyball net that was put in the beach and see Mason grinning evilly. "Prepare to lose Rosie." He taunt, poking his tongue out at me. I roll my eyes and do the same thing. We're really mature right? Eddie's on Mason's team which leaves me alone.
"2 against 1? Real fair Mase." I say.
"You wanna get Adrian?" Mason says suggestively. I laugh at the thought of Adrian playing sports. No thank you.
"Actually, I have a better idea. Give me a second." I tell him, walking over to a tall tan figure. I tap his shoulders and are greeted by green eyes. "Hunter right?" I ask him, smiling my man-eater smile. He smirks and nods. "You play volley? Me and my friends are playing volley and I don't have anyone on my team." I say, looking down on my feet pretending to be ashamed.
"I'd love to be on your team." He says, winking and we walk back to the court. "So these are your friends?" I nod and whistle to gain Mason and Eddie's attention.
"Guys, this is Hunter. Hunter, that's Mason and Eddie." I introduce them to each other and we take our position. We played for half an hour and Hunter and I totally won by a landslide. Turns out, Hunter was captain of the varsity volley team at his school. Ha, I laughed so hard when I saw Mason's face after he lost. "What's that Mase? I can't win against you? Yeah right Ashford!" I shout, poking my tongue out. Hunter chuckled and put me on his shoulders, making me giggle. We taunted Mason and Eddie some more, even Christian joined in at the end. But then again, he would never miss a chance to humiliate someone. I yawned and Hunter gently placed me off my shoulder and brushed a strand of my hair off of my face.
"Hey, call me okay? I would love to take you out on dinner some time." He says, giving me a napkin with his number on it and kissing my cheek then walking away. Lissa squealed and was jumping in excitement while I shrugged and tore the napkin and threw it away, earning approving looks from both Eddie and Mason.
"Rose! What did you do that? He was hot!" Lissa exclaimed, looking at me with wide eyes. Christian frowned and looked at Lissa weirdly. "You know I love you. I only meant he was good for Rose." She said quietly, pecking him cheek.
"What? I thought you were excited about the nonexistent relationship going on between me and Adrian?" I retorted back, challenging her.
"Well yes, but you should have just given him a shot. He looked nice and well HOT!" She tried to reason with me. I snort in response and started pulling her away. It was getting dark and I did not want to take a chance with Lissa in the dark where there would be Strigoi lurking around. Besides, I need to find Adrian. I haven't seen him anywhere since we got here.
"Yo Sparky! Where's Adrian?"
"In our room."
"Okay, well me and Lissa and going back. Mase, Eddie watch out for Strigoi." I tell them. I was pretty sure Christian could take care of himself, besides his trait was fire. Something Strigoi fear. And I'm sure Connor is probably around acting as far guard. Oh yeah. I haven't seen Connor around too. Weird. We got back to our room and it was already night time, and Lissa said that she had plans to go out with Christian so I showered and left her to go walking around the hotel. I saw Adrian walking by with Connor at the lobby so I walked over and greeted them. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you since we've arrived!" I tell him, frowning. He grinned and pulled me into a hug.
"I missed you too little dhampir. Besides, I was just around and Guardian Johnson was guarding me. No need to worry." He said, pulling back to look at me. "Now what do you say we go and have dinner?" He said, pulling me away.
"Sure, but let me change first."
"I'll pick you up at 8." I nodded and walked back to my room to find Lissa already ready for her date with Christian. She wore a pink sweater and a black skirt with some heels. She didn't use too much makeup, just her usual pale lipgloss, mascara and eyeliner and she ties up her hair in a simple ponytail but she looked beautiful as always.
"Wow. You look great!" I said, closing the door after me.
"You think so?" She asked, twirling for me. I nodded and went to open my suitcase.
"Pyro will love you in that." I told her winking, making her blush. She said thanks and left, going out somewhere with Christian and leaving me alone. I decided to wear my red sundress. It had a little bit of ruffles on the top part to cover my boobs and it was layered on the bottom. I put my hair up in a bun and put mascara and eyeliner on, adding some lipgloss on my lips and perfume so that I didn't smell. I mean it's a casual dinner but you can never look too good right? I strapped the stake that Dimitri got me in one of our lessons to my thigh, just for precautions. I don't want to be unprepared for any strigoi. Especially with a royal Moroi, and an Ivashkov more importantly! Dimitri had taught me how to stake a strigoi and how to use the stake, I was already a pro but I didn't know if I could actually do it when the time comes. I hope I didn't have to find that out now. I took out my brown sandals and fixed my hair when I heard someone knock on my door. Probably Adrian. I opened it to find him in a black Gucci button up shirt and some designer jeans. Typical Adrian. I look at his hair that has been probably styled to look messy and his bright emerald eyes, looking at mine intensely. I had to admit, he looked hot. Hotter than usual.
"You look beautiful little dhampir." He said, offering his arm which I take while giggling.
"You don't look so bad yourself Ivashkov." I tell him, closing the door and walking out of the hotel with him. "So where are we going?"
"It's a surprise." He says with a menacing smile on his lips.
"Ugh, you know I hate surprises." I say, glaring at him.
"Oh come on little dhampir. Don't you trust me?" He said with a fake hurt expression on his face. I roll my eyes and laugh at him.
"I guess…"
"You wound me." He says, clutching his shirt that was positioned on top of his heart.
"Yeah, yeah. Just lead the way Ivashkov. I'm hungry." I grumble, already feeling my stomach rumbling. Adrian laughs and grabs my hand, leading us to a beautiful restaurant. He drags me outside to the patio where there is a table in the middle of the patio and candles around the patio lighting it romantically. "Wow. Adrian this is beautiful." I tell him silently, still taking in the view in front of me.
"Not as beautiful as you, iubirea mea." I hear Adrian say, pulling my chair so that I can sit down. When he goes to his seat I look at him weirdly.
"What does that mean?"
"What?"
"The thing you said?"
"Oh, let's just say it's my little secret." He says mischievously, grinning at me smugly. The waiter comes out and asks us for our order which I leave up to Adrian. I just wanted food, anything will do. After dessert, Adrian paid for the food and we took a stroll in the park near the hotel. We sat on a bench and looked at the beach, the moonlight hitting the water making it look like we were on another galaxy. It was perfect, and I was with Adrian. He truly fixed me. I couldn't thank him enough. "Little dhampir." He said, bringing me back from my thoughts. I looked up and him and hummed a response. "When will you give me a chance to prove myself to you? Dimitri broke you and he left. I know you love him and you always will since he's your first love. And I don't mind. I know he'll always have a piece of your heart but I was wondering and hoping if I could have the honour of having every other piece aside from that. I care about you so much little dhampir. Will you just give me a chance?" He says, brushing my hair from my face so that I could look him, really look him in the eye. I look at his eyes to find any lies that were hidden but couldn't find any. He really wanted this. He loved me, so much. He picked up my broken pieces and pieced me together. "Well, little dhampir?" He said, waiting for me to answer. Instead of answering, I brought his head down and kissed him. He was startled at first but soon melted into the kiss. I felt his smile into the kiss and I put my arms around his neck, playing with the hair on the nape of his neck. I pulled back when I was out of breath and leaned in our foreheads together. "So, is that a yes?" He beamed, kissing my nose. I sighed happily and kissed him again.
"Why don't you make a dating proposal? What will you do and why I should date you. Give me that by tomorrow and I'll think about it. But I'm pretty sure you already know my answer." I said, winking at him before standing up, extending my arm for him to take. He smiled and we walked back to the hotel happily. But then something always has to ruin everything happy in my life right? Just as we were about to go inside, I felt nauseous and my stomach dropped. "Adrian get inside." I growled, taking my stake and getting onto a protective stance.
