Chapter 13

THE TRUTH: Six Years Ago

WATARU's POV

I spend the whole day practicing the ninjutsu Aya taught me and I haven't had lunch yet. It annoys me how easily she can conjure the technique in one swift motion. Everyone tells me that the Uchiha blood is amazing, that they're the most powerful ninjas in the country. So is that their well-known eye technique is only limited to the chosen few: the Sharingan. That's probably why I must achieve this one technique that every Uchiha ninja knows. But even to this date, I still can't do it.

Aya said that her sharingan opened at an early age, saying that she went through a crucial process just to achieve such state, though she doesn't rely on it unless absolute necessary. The reasons for this, she won't tell me. It seems that there's more to the clan's history than what she's telling me.

She did mention her twin brother, Obito, also opened his Sharingan during the Third Ninja war. On the brink of death and desperation, her brother's Uchiha senses is what caused him to unlock the mysteries of his eyes.

"What was that?!" I snap my head towards the cry I faintly hear, but dismiss it afterwards. I start pacing from the short distance the huge boulder provided for me, making me easily dizzy.

There is it again. An explosion? It's coming from the direction towards Aya's apartment. After countless times of trying the Fire Thrust Technique and still fail to comply, I take a rest and decide to check the noise. I take my time walking but then the cries grow louder each step, making my hair follicles at the back of my neck stand.

Then I see a figure so familiar not too far from me, that it's so hard to not to miss. Aya-san? No, it can't be… its body is moving in a robotic-acrobatic motion; bending sides as it walks but at the same time, pausing while taking each strides, its shoulders down to its arms moves mechanically, and its fingers withering. Its long black hair stands all the way up to its roots, suspended on the air like gravity doesn't affect it at all. Its eyes are blood shot red, veins starts poking out from the white corners of its eyes. It starts to attack innocent by standers and ninjas alike. It's laughing hysterically, slaughtering anything that gets in its way. I shudder. It's not something you see every day.

On the left corner of my eye, I see Yua grinning almost monstrously as the figure comes closer to the center of the town.

"Yua-neesan!" I yell, running up next to her, curious as to what is happening.

Instead, a large wave if energy greets me, hit me on the stomach, forcing my body to cough up blood. It takes me by surprise.

"What the-?"

"Oh, Akito!" Yua walks slowly towards me, her face full of emotions that even I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is real or not. She's not even bothered by the ruckus that nasty figure is making. "Look at that wonderful creation!" She boasts, her arms outstretch towards Aya. "It's wonderful, isn't it?"

"What are you saying?" Cold sweat sprout from my pores and my knees start to shake uncontrollably. "That's Aya-san, right?"

"Of course it is! Who else would have that insanely chakra reserves that give you this incredible chilling sensation?" She wiggles almost too happily. "Ahhh, Orochimaru-sama would be so proud!"

"Oro-who?" I shake my head. "But why? Why would Aya-san do something so horrible?! What the hell is happening?!"

"Tsk. Tsk." Yua says. "Let's not feign beauty when you see one, Akito."

"Don't tell me… you did this?!" I almost scream. Her insanity is showing that even I had not seen it coming.

At the top of the Hokage building lays the Third Hokage, Sarutobi, pulling all the strings to counter Aya's dreadful attacks. Jounin and Chuunin rank ninjas joins the battle to defeat this ferocious beast Aya has become. Even so then, they are being held back forcefully.

Then, Anbu Squads arrive at the scene, there animal masks covering their faces, and start attacking the wild and dangerous Aya, but to no avail. I gasp as everyone is being pushed back by the strength of her fluctuating chakra. It yields absurd amount that even these elite forces are being scathed by its intense wave.

"Akito," Yua says, her eyes sparkle from what it obviously states excitement, her teeth greeted from anticipation. It's as if her eye sockets are about to fall off. "You better watch this carefully."

"No!" Feeling so powerless, I succumb to the idea that I wouldn't have the strength to counterattack as fear has overpowered my senses, leaving me hidden in the far side corner from where the battles occur.

"This is it! The moment we've all been waiting for!" Yua screams with delight, both her arms are still outstretch, her chest facing outward, like a mother welcoming her child, wind envelops her as her hair dance in movement. "We're about to enter the age of a New World!"

Just as when you thought that everything was in perfect sync, the every-so-cheerful-Aya-turned-monster is restrained by the Nara Shadow Technique and caught her unable to move. Then the retaliations begin.

PRESENT

With her seal removed, Aya is now awake. More like her previous form is unleashed, her Uchiha and Sumire blood, mixing openly, now bare and erect, coursing through her veins, waiting for a moment to attack.

"What is this overwhelming feeling?" She says to herself as her glimmering eyes looks at her hand, her voice calm and persuasive. "It's like I've come to touch a power I shouldn't have."

She moves in place, checking herself.

Wait a minute, I say to myself. There's something different from the previous Aya and this present Aya. She's more calm and perceptive unlike before where she was completely out of control.

I can hear Yua's grotesque laugh. "Well, well, well. Welcome back, Aya!"

Aya gave her a glare. "So you're the one who unleashed such tremendous energy within me."

"Yes," Yua says, her grin grows wider. "That means I'm your master now!"

"Aya!" Kakashi screeches. "Don't do it!"

"Ehh," She says, dragging the words out from her mouth. "Then master…" She says, tilting her head, closing her open palms, "I can kill anyone I want, right?"

"Be my guest."

We gasp from the waves of chakra being unleashed from her, suffocating and condescending.

At that fleeting moment, Aya disappears in front of our eyes and appears right in front of Yua. Yua's eyes grow wide from shock and starts to escape but a long piece of glass, forming a sword, pierce directly through her chest, causing her to stop her movements in place, spurting blood everywhere. Then, as brutal as it may sound, Aya drags the long piece of glass upward, with no hint of any hesitation, cutting Yua in half.

Everyone is unable to move, our eyes glued to Yua's dead body falling in a slow motion, appalled with what suddenly happened.

"You piece of…" Hatsu starts to reiterate but another long thick glass extends from Aya's elbows, the same sword-like appearance, and hit Hatsu directly in his brain, making his eyes roll out from its sockets, blood squirting excessively.

"Now that's out of the way." She shakes her glass weapon in one full blow to remove the blood stains, return its hand shape, and snaps her head towards us.

"No way… so easily…" Akane says next to me, both her hands clutch tightly around her chest, securing herself from the ruthless act she just saw.

It took two Jounins with all their firepower just to wound a single Akatsuki, even so then, they couldn't kill it. Here, Aya killed them in a click of her fingers, without any sweat. Is this the reason why the Uchiha blood is so feared by the majority?

In the previous years, I pretended to have lost my memories, denying myself of the truth I've always known. I knew after Aya was restrained and overpowered, her memories was altered or deleted or whatever making her submissive to the current Konoha system. Letting her forget those horrible memories returned her into the Aya I once knew, but I couldn't get myself to be near her again for fear that I'll somehow acknowledge the past. I even went as far as changing my first name, a mundane act that allegedly helps me fake innocence.

We could be rejoicing now that those two Akatsuki members are dead, but something tells me this isn't over yet.

"I remember everything." She says. "Ibiki altered my memories and Kakashi," she paused then inclines her head upward, "Sealed my powers." She sways a little, her silky black hair follows. "It made sense to me now." She nods her head slowly. "Tsunade-sama and Iruka are worried about me turning into the monster I once were, that's why she send me in this mission with Wataru and Iruka stopping me on the way.

"The chocolate bar-like Yua gave me in the past turned me that way. If I were to unlock my powers in a normal way, then the outcome would be different. That's Yua's miscalculations." She continues and giggles a little. "But you know, somehow killing both of them isn't enough. It's salivating for blood. More and more…"

"Aya-taicho!" I hear myself scream. My voice suddenly feels distant. Everyone around me feels so quiet and reserved, like waiting for Aya's next move.

"Tell me… how do I stop its thirst?" Her eyes speak for herself. "I know," she says, her voice sinister than before. "I'll start with you one by one."

She disappears again and this time appears in the front of the three Jounins. "Who should I start with first?" She says, her right leg bends inward, her left foot extends to her side, and both her arm plastered in front. It takes about three seconds before Kakashi, Asuma, and Guy to react, and as she is about to release her glass ninjutsu to whoever she chose, the three Jounins backflip at the same time, avoiding a critical hit from Aya's.

"Heh…" She licks her lower lip with her tongue. "You all deserve the title Jounins. But…"

Multiple sword-like glass ninjutsu shoots up from the underground, chasing the three Jounins while doing backflips until Aya stops. She snickers.

One of Aya's specialties is a long range battle experience. Due to her Glass Ninjutsu, it can extend as far as it can, to any places and any spaces, and even bends exactly the way she wants it. With the proper conduction of heat from her fire chakra and with the guidance and control of her wind chakra, these two forms her Glass Ninjutsu to its utmost top level, garnering the name a Flawless Ninjutsu.

On top of that, covering her whole body with a sturdy and compact glass, hand to hand combat will be a disadvantage. Additionally, her body can voluntarily extend glass pieces from any parts which can be used as a deadly weapon, the same thing she did to Yua and Hatsu.

The down side of this awesome ninjutsu, however, is the extensive use of chakra. It uses chakra so much that it can only maintain in a limited time. Judging from how Aya's fluctuating chakra, it's only a matter of time before it diffuses. And by then, it will be the deciding strike.

"Kakashi," she says, "I have to thank you." She flutters her eyes, and then looks at him. "If you and Sarutobi-sama didn't seal this amazing power, I would have been Yua's slave for the rest of my life."

"Snap out of it Aya!" Kakashi says; there's a hint of panic in his voice. "You are better than this."

"Snap out of it?" She giggles, then shrugs, "What are you saying Kakashi? I have never been better. This way, I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, with no one stopping me." She turns her whole body in front of them. "Removing the seal, releasing the limiter placed on me, that act alone shows how you care for me, Kakashi."

"That's not what I wanted, Aya!" He scowls at her, his hands form tight fists, ready for impact anytime.

"That's really twisted." Guy mutters under his breath, placing both his hands on his hips. "What are we going to do now?"

"Stop it, Kakashi," Asuma says, he calmly lit his cigarette, inhales a bit and exhales a puff of gray smoke. "There's no way getting through to her now. There's only one way to stop her. Are you up for it?"

There's only one way, he says. They don't mean…?!

Kakashi contemplates for a while, given that there are no other choices available. He then relaxes his muscles and inhales deeply. His eyes show no emotions anymore, like it had been stripped away from Asuma's remarks. Exhaling softly, he places his forehead protector back to his eyes, covering the Sharingan. He knows there is only one way to stop Aya…

And that is by killing her.
