Valkyrie stayed up with Skulduggery until she was shooed out by a nurse saying that Nye was coming and no one could be in here. So now she was sitting outside of the large double doors that led into the hospital wing.
Ravel and Ghastly had come down for a visit earlier, but due to pressure from the Supreme Council and a number of other things, they had to hurry off soon after. So now she was sitting there. Nothing to do.
Sighing, Valkyrie pulled out her phone, glanced at the time and opened an app. That lasted a whole five minutes before the phone went back into her pocket. She sighed again. This was so boring.
Her head leaned back and her eyes traveled to the one flickering light above her head. It was the only one doing that. It blinked again. Then twice more after that. It started to go more slowly. One after another, and then...
Valkyrie cracked her eyes open. Her mouth was dry and her head hurt and she pulled out her phone, flashing the time. Four thirty in the morning. She had fallen asleep.
Valkyrie stood and stretched, hoping that Skulduggery would feel good enough to leave the moment he was able. Which would be in about an hour and a half. So she decided to take a walk.
The halls were quiet and empty, most of the mages had gone home. She passed the council room and poked her head in to see if Ravel or Ghastly were there, but they weren't, so she continued.
She was going deeper now, the halls getting dirtier, the light not quiet able to reach the edges. She rounded a corner and found herself facing the door where the Accelerator was being held. She walked past that door, continuing deeper.
She had never been this far, and it was now that she had, Valkyrie was beginning to worry that she wouldn't make it back out. It was darker down here, and damper and colder. She turned around. Which had she come? She didn't know. A sound jolted her from behind, a door opening. She spun and saw a thin crack of light streaming from a small crevice in the door. She inches closer. Voices. She could hear voices.
A man was speaking. "Do you think they suspect?"
Another man, deeper. "No. He may, just a little, but probably dismissed it as not being the type."
"Do you think it will work?"
"It has to. But we lost subject one, and we cant mess this up."
"When is go time?"
There was a pause. "Not sure. Sometime in the next week."
The voices started talking about something else and Valkyrie crept off down the other way. Roarhaven mages. They must be. But what were they talking about? Valkyries phone buzzed in her pocket and she glanced at it. It was a text from Skulduggery asking where she was.
She speed dialed and pressed the phone to her ear. It was answered immediately. "Hello?"
"Hey," she said, "I'm lost."
"Of course. Do have any idea where you are"
"Um," she said turning in a circle, "it's cold. And damp. I think it's near the Accelerator room."
"Hm. Ok, don't move. I'm coming down now."
"So you're good to go?"
"Yes."
"No more injury's?"
"Yes."
"Do you have any leads?"
"Not as of now."
"None at all?"
"Valkyrie, you're trying to hint something to me."
"Yeah."
"I see. Did you take a right after the room?"
"Yes."
"Ok. And what is this you were trying to hint?"
"Classified."
"I see. And then a left?"
"I'm pretty sure, yeah."
They were silent for a while and Valkyrie soon could hear footsteps echoing down the hall.
"Someone's coming," She whispered, "Should I hide?"
"Go right ahead."
Valkyrie moved to do so but froze. "It's you isn't it."
"I would hope so." Someone said from behind her and she spun around to see Skulduggery calmly putting his phone in his pocket.
He nodded at her. "What are you doing down here?"
"I went for a walk."
"And happened upon classified information?"
"Yes."
"I see. Well then. We should go back. My gun is still in the hospital wing. I also want to point out that there was an exit right around the corner."
Valkyrie glared at him. "And I would know that how?"
Skulduggery shrugged. "No idea."

Next chapter up! And it is dedicated to Justrockzyxxx For faithfully commenting and letting me know what she thinks. Thank you! And Guest, I agree. Anything else would be... weird. Sorry this was so dry. I was having trouble with what to write here. There should be a more exiting chapter up soon. (Hopefully)
And Spoiler alert for Sherlock:
On a completely different subject, for all you people who know what I'm talking about, did anyone else think that the ending to Sherlocks "His Last Vow" was kind of sad? I mean, Sherlock killed Magnusin to keep John and Mary (Grr) safe and he NEVER does that. And they stood there and John was sad, and then Sherlock looked like hes was going to cry on the plane.(Almost) But I have to say, thank you Moriarty! You allowed Sherlock to stay! Yay! Ish... Also, "The Sign Of Three" I thought was freaking hilarious. Sherlock is PERFECT. "High-Functioning Sociopath. And I've got your number." *Big cheesy smile* Love it!
Hope you liked the chapter! If you did, please Follow/Fave and COMMENT! especially if you agree with my views, or want to give me some feedback.
